Good morning,

A rest day yesterday, just agility class.

Valerie, good to know that you can trade in an Apple product at the store. My iPad is getting pretty old, however it still does take on all the updates they send. Victims should never be blamed, but yes, sometimes their judgment and decisions can be questionable.

Diane Sue, thanks for the input on the new KCM's....I plan on starting the series today. I use the arrow button on the left of the "home" button to close any open apps on my Samsung phone multiple times a day and this keeps the battery from running down quickly. I charge it every night, however I can probably go for 2+ days without charging, as long as I close apps in the background. I notices when I put the FitBit app on the phone that it takes a lot to run and using the battery more.

Carolyn, Leaner Legs is a good workout, another one that has kind of been lost....thanks for brining it out...I will need to look at for my next Lower Body day. Does your husband use the "close all open apps" function on his phone? See above. It makes a big difference in how long the charge lasts.

Lori, great that you are seeing Madeline.

Judy, I hope you are feeling better today. I am also going to try to do the new KCM's for a while, at least until the new Cathe DVD's arrive. :). Too many new ones at once!

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

Madeline is still sleeping so I was able to get a workout in this morning instead of the afternoon. I did the same lower body band workout I did in Philadelphia made of cathe downloads that I have. Really burns the legs. I then followed with Jessica Smiths 15 fast fat burn, using 2.5 ankle weights and 3lb hand weights. Lastly, finnished with an 11min BBS upper body workout. Total time was 61 mins. Nice to get this in.

We have a busy day today. She wants to start with pancakes so her wish is my command! Then she has a few friends’ homes she wants to visit to see their holiday decorations. One friend goes all out and has 9 trees up and decorated. I am looking forward to see this too. I barely can put one up! This will take most of the day going from one house to house.

Judy..hope you are feeling better. I never got sick from when Bob was really sick. I had some sniffles but it quickly went away. Lysol on the bed must have helped! Lol! I love my Apple products too. I rely so much on my ipad when I travel. Now that I have the 12.9 Pro I will never be able to go back to the regular size one. I love my Pro. We trade in our old apple items too. No sense keeping them.

Carolyn and Valerie...I just updated my WW’s app and will check it out tonight.

Deb...have you received the new KCM’s yet?

Hi to Diane Sue!

5 inches of snow in Massachusetts...none here! :)

No workout on schedule for today. This is my rest day. I’m trying to get some Christmas shopping done today. The snow is melting but it was still icy this morning. It was not too bad in my area, but parts of the metro area were really hit hard.

Have a wonderful day everyone and take care.

Rest day and family day today. We are going to my grandson 17's piano recital today. Tomorrow I will do Kelly's Build and Burn upper body and some cardio. Last nights Christmas party was fun. We did yhe gift exchange stealing thing. We came home with the second most wanted gift, a redneck toilet plunger with a 20 dollar bill attached LOL.

Deb, my Avast app tells me Fit Bit is using my battery. I also get the message when I use map my fitness during workouts. Those two combined use quite a bit of ram and battery. Also, I find Flipboard running in the background quite oftenand I do not use it. There are other apps I do not use which I catch running in the backgriund when I am using my tablet. I hate that when I try to getbrid of those apps that I do not use that I get warnings about them maybe messing up the system since the are pre installed apps I am afraid tonget rid of them.

Lori, pancakes and looking at decorations sounds fun. My oldest daughter has multiple trees all over her house. They decorate inside and out. It is a lways beautiful. Christmas is at her house.

Carolyn, good luck with the Christmas shopping. I am about done with Christmas. I have 3 birthdays next month so I need to start looking for those presents.

occasionally iphone runs thru the whole battery quickly. I have all programs closed. when we mt biked this week , it was down to a couple % left though I didn't use it at all. I keep it in my bike pack... maybe a button got bumped? the whole ride is "in service" . not remote, it's a state park right outside of a large town. would not even turn on. I shut down & started charging. when I checked later nothing was running but maybe it shut down when I turned it off. Am I overlooking something basic? when we're outside service I turn it off so it doesn't discharge looking for a signal. the ride was 2 hours. next time in an apple store I will ask. DH said we would get at least $100 credit on our old ipad. I think this will wait until after xmas to happen.
I did two sections of total body trisets yesterday. warm up, upper and lower body premixes, and then HR abs. about 1 hr. dive bomber pushups and a few other things I haven't seen for a while. have trouble with the soldier push ups.

Lori you are lucky to escape lightly! Judy, you too.
DH got a migraine suddenly yesterday making for a rough afternoon . no clue what brought this one on.

Judy, I am sorry that you picked up something at the gym. I bought home cookies that did not get eaten at our church Christmas party last night and was eating some. My husband asked if the cookies I was offering were the ones from the church and said he was not eating them after other people had been digging into them. I just didn't think about it. I had them and the ones at home in two different containers though. I think I am going to really like the Build and Burn set.

Valerie, I can always feel some stress on my shoulders doing soldier push ups.

Did the 57 minute spin from Ride. then did 100 knee push ups in 4 sets of 25.

I feel like such a dork doing soldier push ups. I have trouble raising opposite arm and leg for some reason. I tried to do them on knees thinking it would be easier to pay attention but it wasn't.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did the first workout from the new KCM DVD's. It was good. My HRM stopped for a bit, so I did not record the calories/time in MFP. The strap has become stretched out, and it moves around so it errors out on the watch. I need to make is smaller. We had my over for dinner last night. He is here from Florida. A very spry and active 89 year old! I hope I am like him when I am 89.

Lori, nice workouts! It sounds like you are having a nice visit with Madeline. Yes, got the KCM's on Saturday.

Diane Sue, I shut down a whole bunch of apps on my phone that I never use and don't care to look into. I got that message, but ignored it for the most part and did it anyway. I just got in the habit of closing all apps but using that one button frequently during the day. Like right after looking at the FitBit app, I close all apps.

Valerie, you may have programs closed, but apps run in the background all the time. Google how to close background running apps on an iPhone...hopefully its just one button thing and you will be surprised how much longer your battery life is.

Hi to Judy & Carolyn,

A workout, then puppy class this morning, and class later tonight....

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

I took rest days Saturday and Sunday and am feeling better today. I plan on starting Build & Burn this morning.

Deb-We are supposed to get 3 inches of snow today, then tomorrow the temperature drops and we get wind chills below 0. I'm not looking forward to this at all. :(

Valerie-Have you checked the Background App Refresh setting on your iPhone? When I turned that off it made a difference. Here is an article with some instructions:

https://www.imore.com/how-to-manage-background-app-refresh-iphone-ipad

Diane Sue-I think I will like Build & Burn too. I looked at the premix that has Lower Body Tabata and Kettlebell Kickbox Fusion and it looks good.

Lori-It sounds like you are having a great time with Madeline. I have the smaller iPad Pro and I really like it. I'm sure I would love the 12.9 one too. Maybe I'll upgrade next year. That would be great for travelling and streaming workouts.

Hi to Carolyn,

Judy

Deb, I had Polar tell me that the strap needs replaced every few months. I thought that was odd. I think I kept thatbemail somewhere. I have multiple Polar straps. I had one that care with a watch that was eomlong I had to use a safety pin to make it fit. Then ordered a small one. I think some apps just runnin the background all of the time. I always use that button and swipe off fitbit when done looking. When I use my Avast to clear out running apps , things like google play, peel smart, etc. That I am notvusing are running. Fitbit is somewhat running even when not using the app because you are running bluetooth. I also use a clear junk button with this. Avast is only on my tablet though. I use my tablet more than I use my computer. I am glad that Kelly has a modifier in most of her workouts. The first workout does have some impact. I find Kellys impact and plyimetrics to not be as rough as Cathes though.

Judy, I am glad that you are feeling better. Enjoy Build and Burn today. I have been bad about riet lately with others cooking and Christmas cookies. I need to make a change this week. Kellys nutrition plan looks good other than I do not eat bread often. Once in awhile I will pick up some gluten free seed bread and keep it in the freezer for an occasional meal. So is the 12.9 ipad pro a 12 inch one? I love my 12 inch Galaxy note pro and use it for many things. I like that I have an SD card that I caneasily remove and add. I use the journal , S note for recipes, and other things.

Deb I have been closing programs correctly and usually nothing is running. still, occasionally the phone seems to run down quickly. still looking! previously I thought it was connected to using the map GPS feature but I always turn it off after I get somewhere.

Judy I will look at that later this morning. thank you. smart to take a time off and get over a virus quickly. there is so much extra "stuff" in an iphone!. have you all found all the cool special effects you can access for text messages? really fun things. more than just the pictures. you can get "active" confetti, balloons, bubbles, fireworks you can send with the message. I'm not sure what # phone this feature activated but I have a 6s.
I used my newer chest strap/ watch yesterday spinning and it did not work at all. this is the fancy watch I got from a friend, replaced the battery so had to reset the whole thing. does not send a signal to the bike computer, only to the watch. the simple Polar one works intermittently. at least I can get a heart rate but not much else. the electronics on the bike are not very useful.

Today I did IMAX 2 intervals 1-7, 9 and 10. Total time was 54 minutes and 397 calories burned. My average heart rate was 133 and maximum heart rate 150. I always love this workout and the music is great. I wasn’t feeling very energetic before I started, but it was just what I needed.

Deb, I always hated when the Polar stopped working during a workout. I have several chest straps because I replaced them frequently.

Judy, glad that you are feeling better. Taking rest days was smart.

It sounds like everyone is enjoying Build and Burn which is wonderful. Cathe posted an update on Fit Split and should have some clips up today or tomorrow.

Enjoy your day.

Good afternoon ladies,

This morning was SB Lower Body Interval Sculpt using 2.5 ankle weights. I then kept the ankle weights on and did 2 of Jessica Smith’s 15 min workouts using 3lb hand weights. One was power pick up and the other was belly blast. Both were fun. 66 mins/ 402 cal.

Diane Sue...your xmas party sounded like a fun time. Hysterical on the plunger! To funny! Enjoy KCM’s workouts. Am I the only one that did not buy these? Maybe me and Valerie? The friend with all the trees has a beautiful home. Each tree has a theme, a snowman, santas, hallmark to name a few. All so beautiful.

Valerie...those pushups can be a challenge. I will do them on my toes as long as I am using a platform to elevate my upper body. And I only do a few.

Deb...glad you are enjoying KCM. As I mentioned previously, I like her a lot yet I never grab for her workouts. I am really enjoying my time with Madeline. Lots of laughs. We are going grocery shopping later today and she is very excited to do so. She pretty much is confined to her bedroom. Her daughter put in a microwave and small refrigerator. She has everything she needs at her fingertips. She has a hard time moving around due to the cancer in her hip. She does not walk much and absolutley needs a wheelchair. We were talking last night that no one thought 2.5 years after her diagnoses she would still be here. She has had some rough patches but she has such a great attitude and support system. Very upbeat no matter what. The fact is though the disease will get the better of her. In the meatime, I am enjoying my time with her when I can.

Judy...glad you are feelong better. Sounds like resting was the perfect remedy. I love the larger Ipad. At first I thought it would be way to big and I almost went with the smaller pro. I am so glad I went with the larger and yes it is awesome at streaming workouts on the go!

Hi to Carolyn!

Carolyn...I saw your post after I posted. I read her update too and looking forward to the clips. I am off the week between christmas and new years so hoping we receive them before xmas. One can only hope! I think one series shipped around xmas but arrived after. Can’t remember which one. Agree the music in Imax 2 is so much fun. This is my favorite out of the 3. I noticed you did not do interval 8? I do not remember which one this was.

Today I did Kelly's Build and Burn Upper Body Super sets, 32 minutes (actual 26:20 minutes) , heart rate average 103, max 147, 124 calories. I then did Build and Burn Trim and Tone, 24 minutes, heart rate average 131, max 151, 156 calories. 280 total calories, 56 minutes.
I too really liked the Upper Body Super sets. Kelly came up with some new moves which was nice. This was much tougher than I expected and I found myself lowering the weights quickly. I think there is a reason Kelly starts light :) Trim and Tone uses 8# dumbbells throughout and is upper body weight work with more focused cardio that is not real extreme. 8# was plenty for the moves and she does have some places where you add a bit of a lower move in while doing the upper segment.
Upper Body Super Sets weights
8 reps 3 sets of each superset
shoulders
reverse grip press 15# dbs, 10 dbs, 10 dbs (I quickly dropped weight here)
lateral raise and extend 10 dbs, 10,10
biceps
pulse curls 15 dbs,12,12
pledges 12 dbs,12,12
triceps
seated overhead extension 20, 20,20 (next time I will go heavier)
Tate press 15 dbs, 15, 15
chest
reverse grip bench press 17.5 's,17.5, 15's
connected dumbbell press 17.5's 17.5's 17.5's
back
seated rows 17.5's, 17.5's, 17.5's (this is single/ double arm count as 1 rep)
standing cross row 17.5 #, 17.5, 17.5
burn out light dumbbells 8#

I will be back to read posts. I have to shower and run to the store.

Thanks everyone. Taking a few days off did help. This morning I did Build & Burn Lower Body Tabata, then WS3 Lower Body. I really enjoyed Lower Body Tabata, but it was a little too short to be a stand alone leg workout. I used 12 lbs, like KCM, and it felt a little light at first, but I was able to do the entire workout without modifying and by the time I got into the WS3 workout I was ready to go lighter and dropped down to 8's.
For KCM's plie squats I did use one 25 lb dumbbell instead of doing them like she did, with the dumbbells on her shoulders.
I finally cancelled my Spinerval streaming subscription today. I have all the Spinerval DVDs and most of the workouts as downloads. It was only $12.95 a month, but I wasn't using it enough to justify the cost. I had been waiting, thinking they would put out new content but they haven't done any new workouts in the past 2 years.

Diane Sue-Tomorrow I'm going to do Upper Body Super sets, along with another WS3 or KCM workout, I haven't decided yet. I agree about there being a reason that Kelly went lighter. I think I'm going to like this series a lot.

Valerie-I haven't looked at all the special effects for text messages yet, I'm not even sure how to find them. I'll take a look tonight. I remember reading about them.

Carolyn-I saw the Fit Split preview and it looks really good! I hope we get them soon.

Lori-That's what I had thought about the iPad, that the larger one would be too big, but now I think I should have gotten it. I'm still happy with mine but when I get a chance I will probably get the bigger one.

Hi to Deb,

Judy

I did Muscle meltdown chest, and muscle meltdown triceps and icy core 1. I like doing supersets for upper body a lot. I like the rapid pace and the medium weights. I went up to 15's for the chest, but stayed at 10 for triceps but noted to go up to 12's next time. I didn't realize there is no warm up segment before, so went back and did that first. about an hour

Good morning,

Yesterday I did the new KCM's Upper Body Supersets. She has a lot of new moves in there. Pretty good workout for only 30 minutes. Then went to Puppy class...so much fun with the little ones. :). Took the dogs to class last night...whew....I was tired when we got home.

Judy, glad you are feeling better. I had to drop down in weights for the Upper Body Supersets workout too, for some of the supersets.

Diane Sue, I just took in the Polar strap, took about an inch off. I really like that Kelly has a modifier too. It makes it so much better and less frustrating. I am not sure the FitBit runs when not using, because whenever I want to look at my results on my phone, it has to synch with the FitBit to update it. Maybe its a setting change?

Valerie, hopefully keeping some of those apps off will help with battery life. I find that the calorie burn on the treadmill HRM is not very accurate, but the actual heart rate that is showing matches my Polar HRM heart rate, only off by 1 point.

Carolyn, I saw that post about the new DVD's, I am really looking forward to the clips too! :)

Lori, that is so wonderful that you are spending this time with Madeline. It sounds like she has great support with you and her family and friends. Those trees sound beautiful! We did not put one up this year.

A workout, then class at noon.

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

This morning was Live Warrior Kickboxing. I love this one! Since it really works your core I stopped when she started with core on the mat and did Jessica Smiths 15m Belly Blast. Total time was 63 mins / 609 cal. My HR was up there at times.

We never made it to the grocery store uesterday. Madeline needed a rest day. Going to visit friends the other day was a lot as we were gone for most of the day. Our goal is to try for today. I am flying out this evening so the plan is to start to get going in the morning.

Deb...I heard Kelly does some new moves. Must be hard to constantly come up with new workouts! If I went to a puppy class I would want to run out and buy puppies!!!

Valerie...nice workout! The meltdowns are great. I need to remember they are there.

Judy...That is how I feel about Live. I love the workouts when I do them but I do not choose them as often like I did the first couple of years. Perhaps I will take a break and when I start missing I can always go back. Knowing how you are about Apple products you will love the larger Pro. :)

Diane Sue...for you to say the workout was tough it must be really hard!!! I see the weights you lift. Glad everyone is enjoying them.

Carolyn...the FitSplit preview she posted looks great!

Have a great day all!!

Lori since you often use multiple sources it probably won't be an issue for you. I've done muscle meltdowns following another workout. I didn't notice until I started it that the warm up is not included. had to retreat to the regular workout, do the warm up and then move back to the bonus section. I will remember from now on. Especially upper body, I'm committed to a warmup before a super set, especially when the first exercise is pushups. did them on toes, step with 2 risers. I started the workout with 12's and decided after chest presses I could go heavier, so switched to 15's. they did not even feel that hard. all the push ups are paying off.! It's a big jump to 20's. will inch up by increments, if I can. take out one riser at a time, add a few extra reps on and see how it feels. I don't have 17.5s but I do have weighted gloves. same thing with the triceps. 10's were not a challenge so I did a few extra reps on most, and will go to 12's next.
My Timex HRM... I use it for outdoor cycling, but after I saw my heart rate didn't go up very high, I don't use it often. doesn't work at all with the spin bike electronics. I looked up a new monitor but it looks exactly like this one. the older Polar chest strap works intermittently & picks up the heart rate .. but I have to keep pushing the button, and the number sits there until I push it again.. so not accurate.
