Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/26/2023

Good morning. Judy, thanks as always for starting us off.

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. I had a wonderful time with my family, but now it’s nice to just slow down a bit.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

Did IMAX 3 combos, SB Bonus Abs 2 and Lying Stretch this morning. We've got snow coming possibly starting at any moment 2-4". Let the fun begin. My husband who was all for Tux being in the house may be rethinking that since he's turned into a 10 lb kitten like menace. But, once the cat was let in the house, with a pet door, he's not going away! LOL

Carolyn great job with the yoga.

Hi all!

friday I went up to 30 min with 15 on the treadmill and 15 on the elliptical. saturday I was tired and felt sore and achy. took a rest day yesterday . today we drove to a park above puget sound. walked a trail I like that's relatively flat. some rocks, roots, a little up and down. on a bluff above the water. beautiful blue sky and calm water with lots of ducks. I didn't start my timer but it was about 45 min. stopped at the grocery on the way home and did the shopping so another hour of walking. I feel more like a real person now. I
Ive been thinking about getting another cat and am trying to get DH interested. we didn't get another after our last one passed, several years ago now. suddenly it seems like a good idea again. we'll see how this works out.

Yesterday I did Raw Hi lo step 38 minutes, 194 calories, heart rate 129/157, 4,118 steps followed with Raw Timesaver Intervals 13 minutes, 68 calories, heart rate 129/161, 817 steps. I finished with STS 2 mobility #1, 19 minutes, 35 calories. Total time was 70 minutes, 297 calories, 5,087 steps.
Today is a rest day and I did STS 2 mat yoga, 23 minutes, 39 calories. Tomorrow is dentist appointment in the morning. Not sure if I will do a workout.
Valerie, I am so glad you are doing so well. I am sure you are happy to get some activity in again. Nice work on the treadmill and elliptical. Also, great that you got to go for a nice walk.

Carolyn, nice work getting in your Sunday yoga work. I felt I needed to do some yoga this morning as well since I stayed in because it was icy out today.

Cathy, nice work on IMAX 3 combos, SB Bonus Abs 2 and Lying Stretch this morning. It rained here all day yesterday and got down into the 20's. Maybe Tux will settle down after living in the house for a while.

This morning I did XTrain Legs-Dics, ball and barre sections. Snow is staying put on the ground. Not a lot, but enough to cover it. With the cold temps the next few days, unless the sun shows itself it's not going anywhere.

Valerie that's wonderful that you went for a hike and have increased your treadmill and elliptical times. I'm sure it does make you feel a lot more normal. I'd be happy to let you choose between Tux and Chester, but the transportation would be a bit much. LOL I've found neutered males tend to be most laid back as adults. Tux would be the exception to that. LOL I think he's the equivalent of one of those dog breeds that have 2-3 year puppyhoods. Years back when the last cat we had when we got married died, and we just had the neighbors cats that adopted us, but went outside to go to the bathroom, DH declared no more cats as he didn't want litter boxes around. Then I found tiny Chester alongside the road during peak kitten season, and now we have 4! I highly recommend stopping at 1 or 2 :D

Diane Sue great job with the Raw workouts and mobility 1. I think Tux is just extra when it comes to playfulness and mischief and Chester is way to easy to mess with.

cathy I agree on neutered males as my preference. I was looking at one online from the local adoption center but he went somewhere over the weekend. prefer an adult also, no kittens. they're cute and all but .I dont need that intensity. we want a pet that can travel with us and not "meow" for 12 hours. a calm adult. not sure DH is crazy about the idea now, and before I wasn't ready so we have switched positions.

we stick a litter box in the basement. never been a problem. our kitties are indoor/outdoor so take advantage of both spaces. we have a more obvious predator issue these days. and probably always have. there are eagles, bobcats, cougars, coyotes. I always get them in at night and its worked for us so far. that would be quite a commute to adopt one of your kitties.

This morning I did JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster for 30 minutes and 214 calories burned. My husband had a doctors appointment at midday so that has really taken up most of my day.

Cathy, great job with IMAX 3 combos, Step Boss bonus abs and lying stretch, and XTrain Legs Ball and Barre.

Valerie, great job with the treadmill, elliptical, and walking in the park. You seem to be making excellent progress.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Hi Lo Step, Raw Timesaver Intervals, STS 2 Mobility 1, and STS 2 Mat Yoga. I understand about the appointments interfering with your workouts. I have another one tomorrow and I’m not sure if I will be able to fit in a workout.

Hello to Judy.

This morning I did Live 30 Minute Kickbox Express and P30 Extended Stretch. Was extra chilly this morning downstairs, our coldest night yet, and I worked out in Derek's room. Something that's only feasible if I don't need weights or a lot of space.

Valerie I hope you find a cat that works for you. None of the ones I current have are happy riders. And Tux especially seems to have a PTSD type response to car rides. I have a feeling that however it was he ended up at our place was a horrific experience for him. Also, likely responsible for the fact that it took weeks before he'd even allow us to pet him. Most laid back cat I ever had, I only found out later was removed from a house after a marijuana bust, and they deemed him to hard to handle! Fixed him and released him in the barn where I was volunteering and the woman who ran the place forgot about it. One day I found him in the barn with a fresh wound, and just picked him up and ended up taking him to my vet and keeping him. His ears were all shriveled and bent, probably frostbite, but he was just the sweetest thing. Months later, I was talking to a woman from the local humane society and we figured out who he was. She was shocked. They probably would have tried to place him, and it was likely the fact that they'd trapped him that made him appear unhandleable. Our litter boxes are downstairs, too, and one cat is always inside, and in the winter they get a lot more use as the others are out less. Only predators around for cats their size are coyotes, and they generally are trying to break into chicken coops at night. It's extremely rare to see an eagle, and they are fly overs. There are some great horned owls, but they are generally in the far woods. Up north though, when they check nests of large predators it's not uncommon for them to find collars of small dogs and cats.

Carolyn great job with JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster. I hope your husband's appointment went well.

Hi to Diane Sue and Judy.

Our best cat was an 11 yr old we adopted from a shelter. he was great and lived about 6 more years. our last little guy was totally different but a sweet little guy who lived to around 15 tho with shelter cats its hard to be sure. we've had a long break because we never got to a comfortable position after building our vacation place. 12 hours with a yowling cat would not be good. we left previous cats "home" but if its longer than a week they start to get a little stir crazy and I feel guilty leaving them. the MT house though would not be a safe place. no places to climb for them and a cat out in the tall grass and scrub would be impossible to find. we would not want one to get outside there. so somehow the whole process ground to a halt.

I rode the spin bike yesterday for 20 min after a morning trip to costco plus normal walking in the house. Dh is getting impatient with me sometimes. I can't walk as fast as he can normally, and this has slowed me down more. I can keep a reasonable pace but he's used to faster and gets annoyed. today we will walk around our yard. its on a hill, everything is up or down and none of it is paved. its grass, gravel, tree roots etc. we can drive a vehicle up and down the "road" so not ridiculous but going to give it a shot. if its too hard I can bag it and walk on the treadmill. we have 2 more days of sunny weather and then it will get wet and windy so I wont get a chance again soon.

I had an appointment this morning and didn’t get to do a workout. My husband’s medical appointment went well yesterday, or as well as one can expect. My microwave died the Monday before Thanksgiving which caused a bit of inconvenience. My cooktop has been dying for a while, so I’m shopping for new appliances. I had plans to do a kitchen update, but I don’t have enough time to devote to a big project. Things will be done in small stages instead.

Cathy, nice job with Live Kickbox Express and P30 Extended Stretch.

Valerie, good luck with deciding on a new pet.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Today I did Raw Upper Body Strength (and endurance on description) 66 minutes (59 actual) heart rate 112/138, 235 calories. I then did Raw flow stretch 20 minutes, 45 calories. Total time was 86 minutes, 280 calories. Dentist did my teeth cleaning and they tapped around on my teeth to try to figure out which was the tooth causing me problems. Needless to say I hurt when I came home. Thursday I go to the endodontist so they can try to figure it out. Not looking forward to it and it sounds like this is just a consult and I will have to go back. Tired of dealing with it hurting. I upped my weights from what I did on this workout in the past. Apparently I must have done this when still recovering shoulder as I used 5# for shoulder work.

Just finished Bun Burners Barre and Ball. Starts with standing, no equipment section, then barre and finishes with the ball. It's a good workout, but I feel like there are other similar workouts that are better. Going near 40 today, but no sun, so we'll see how much snow disappears. Even warmer tomorrow, but still no sun.

Valerie great job with the elliptical.

Diane Sue nice job with Raw Upper Body Strength and stretch. Mouth pain is rough. It's not like you can skip eating. I hope someone is able to get you some relief soon.

This morning I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one. That was 26 minutes and 187 calories burned. I did my WW meeting afterwards. I didn’t have time for a meeting last week during Thanksgiving.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Upper Body Strength and Raw Flow Stretch. That’s unfortunate about the dental pain. Hopefully the Endodontist can find the problem.

Cathy, great job with Bun Burners Barre and Ball. You’re getting in some serious lower body workouts.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

went to the local park and walked for an hour, 57 min actually but close enough. some uphill and down, on a rough surface. felt Ok. I can keep going but feel shaky and a little unsure although I assume I will feel more solid as I keep doing something every day. I will try to fit in a spell on the spin bike later. this is sitting and riding not with much speed or resistance.

nothing more unpleasant or elusive as dental pain. good luck with the dentist.

Carolyn how do you feel about the direction WW seems to be going? I haven't had the option of in person meetings.. they were never in a location or time I could have done so I never worried about it. I do not support company's strong lean toward weight loss drugs. last thing in the world I would do is agree to a drug I'd need forever. feels like they are trying to ditch as much of in person meetings as they can. even the little charms which I have to say I loved getting.

Valerie, I haven’t been to an in person WW meeting in 2 years. Recently my in person center closed and moved the meetings to a Church that is closer to me, but I’m happy with the virtual. I don’t have time to go to in person anymore. I had to sample a few virtual meetings initially to find one that I like, but I have a good group now with many regular attendees. I understand that WW is a business in a very competitive market and they have to remain relevant. I don’t feel that they are pushing weight loss drugs, but for some that’s an important option. The tools that are important to me are still available.

Monday I did a 45 minute Power Zone ride, 10 minutes of rowing and a Yin Yoga class. Yesterday I did Live PHA Supersets, No Repeats and 10 minutes of rowing. I worked 9-4 today so will probably take it easy tonight.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga, JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster and Cardio Quick Fix, workout one. I’m glad your husband’s medical appointment went well.

Cathy-Great job with IMAX 3 combos, SB Bonus Abs 2, Lying Stretch, XTrain Legs, 30 Minute Kickbox Express and P30 Extended Stretch, and Bun Burners Barre and Ball. Carolyn is right, you are getting some great lower body workouts in this week. I should copy you on a couple of those next week.

Valerie-Great job with the treadmill, elliptical, trail walking and spin bike. You are making excellent progress. That’s great that you are thinking of adopting a cat again. I hope you find one soon.

Diane Sue-Great job with Raw Hi lo step, Raw Timesaver Intervals, STS 2 mobility #1, Raw Upper Body Strength and Raw flow stretch. Good luck with your dental appointments. I am having a similar issue and have an appointment Dec 11 to see if I need to get another root canal. I’m not looking forward to it but I have a feeling I will need to get it done.

Today I did CDorner Step Workout #340, 66 minutes, heart rate 125/160, 298 calories, 5,661 steps. I followed with Raw Abs Finisher standing and part of the floor, 12 minutes, 44 calories. My phone and doorbell kept interrupting. I just gave up on the last 7 minutes of abs. Total time was 78 minutes, 342 calories. This step workout had some good music and was fun, but enough choreography that by the last add on to the moves I was sort of losing my step. I may do it again since I pretty much had most of it. Chris is a good instructor with choreo though. No workout in the morning as I have the dental appointment. I gather this appointment is a consult so they can figure out what the problem is. Then I will be waiting to get something done with it. All of the digging and tapping makes it hurt when they are done. Going to bed way earlier and hoping I can fall asleep. I am used to staying up till midnight or after. I have to be up by 5 to get ready and do the drive. I have to allow for traffic.

Cathy, nice job on Bun Burners Barre and Ball today. I think I have done that one before. Or it is another like what I did. It has been a while since I have done a live workout. Poor Tux. He is lucky you took care of him. I saw on Nextdoor neighbor that some people have had their cats and saw rabbits picked up by owls and other large birds. I have seen owls around. Before they put the house in behind me there was one that sat on our fence. Probably watching for rodents in the field that was behind us.

Carolyn, it is nice that you can do the weight watchers meetings online. Nice work on KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout 1.

Valerie, that is nice that you got in a walk and some of it uphill.

Judy, great job on the 45-minute power zone ride, 10 minutes of rowing and Yin Yoga class. Also, good job on yesterday's Live PHA Supersets no repeats and 10 minutes of rowing. My dentist seems to think I will probably need a root canal. He just doesn't know which tooth and I cannot tell which.

Today I did LiTE Stacked Sets Upper Body. My time was 42 minutes with 214 calories burned. My average heart rate was 117.

Judy, great job with the Power Zone ride, rowing, yin yoga, and Live PHA Supersets.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Step and Raw Abs Finisher. Good luck with your dental appointment. Those are never fun.

Hello to Cathy and Valerie.

another medical appt this morning but just an annual dermatology skin check. all looking ok and I was able to get undressed, dressed and maneuver around ok without any bending.

a sore quad from something yesterday , I will try to do bike later after regular walking around inside today. not bad, but everything has sat idle for weeks and alignment of everything should be a little different. rode spin bike for 20 minutes. that's it for today. rain is back for close to a week. glad we stayed outside as much as we did this past week.
