Good morning,

I plan on doing the new KCM workout I just go this past week this morning. It's a kettle bell workout. I hope it's more fun than any of the others I have done in the past. I don't know why but they tend to be boring.

Re: the NG plan. The elimination part is only the first 3 weeks, then you add back things one at a time. It's to determine if any of these foods cause you problems. Some cause inflammation for people, or digestive issues etc. I really don't think I have food issues, I am going to try it just to see if I can get to eating a more clean diet.

Lori, I wish other cities would do what your town did for Halloween. The kids should be out in the daytime, much safer. Did you read how many were killed while trick or treating? I wonder if this will make more cities do the day time thing. I also like the malls that have a special time for them to do it. That seems like it would be fun for the kids. Love the visual of the pets sitting on your lap. :)

Judy, That is a great way to work your way up to body weight dips..Do you live near Ann Arbor? One of my peers at work lives there, and my niece went there for her masters. Everyone says what a nice, fun place it is. Can't wait to see the pics of your home gym.

Valerie, leaving today right? Have a fun and safe trip!

Hi to Josie & Lynda,

Take care,

Deb, yes we are pretty close to Ann Arbor, about 20 miles or so. It is a nice area, lots of things to do. I think it would be a lot of fun to be a student there, as the city pretty much revolves around U of M and Eastern. DH and SIL went to Eastern, which is in Ypsilanti. Also, really good medical services, with U of M hospital.

I just finished taking all of my weights and workout equipment to the basement. I'll get a photo later today, hopefully I'll get things better organized but I'm really happy with it so far.

Judy

Hi Ladies,

Today is day 4 of BB. So far I like the workouts and they go by very fast. Did everyone enjoy getting an extra hour of sleep?

Garance, I have asked my DIL to find out if there is an after school program where they can help him, but she never got back to me. The bottom line is that if its not convenient to her she will not do anything about it. I saw the pictures of your farm and its absolutely beautiful.

Valerie, have a great vacation!

Judy, glad that you are working on setting up your gym. Did you get the bike trainer yet? If not go to bikenashbar.com, they have great prices.

Hi to Lori and Deb!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did BarreAmped Bootcamp (74 min.).

Absolutely loved my extra hour of sleep. Very chilly today, but at least this storm is really more off the coast.

Lori, your animals sound like snugglers. Max is off with DH today to pick up a load of piglets.

Deb, nothing like following a specific regimen to fine tune your diet. Hope it isn't too restrictive or too hard to do. Good luck.

Judy, I have only been to Ann Arbor once (my first book was published by UMich Press and won a prize), and it looked like a lot of big college towns--bustling with a lot of activity.

Hope you have a great trip, Valerie!

Hi to Josie!

Good evening ladies!

Wow the weather has been nasty today. High winds and rainy. Just as welll as I needed to do tons of house max today. Yesterday I did sb barre scheduled with the fall challenge then cathe's live low impact hardstrikes. Today I needed something a little less intense and did Jessica Smith's metabolic workout. This one is less intense than a cathe workout but boy I was sweating at the end non the less.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning...so much for the extra hour of sleep. I at least got my workout in and a ton of housemax before the kids came over for our usual Sunday morning breakfast. My DH and I decided to hang this large beautiful mirror in our living room that I received free from a restaurant we remodeled. By doing this it was a domino affect with changing all the art work and pictures we have in the house. Took us a while but we are happy with the results. It is amazing how just changing the hanging items can completely change the entire ambiance of our home.

Josie...thanks on the BB. Everyone seems to love them. So sorry about your DIL's Stubbornness. Seems like you have tried everthing and she is just not interested at all. So very sad.

Lynda...we have 2 dogs and 2 cats and all 4 are snugglers! Love them all. I have been doing SB's Fit For Fall challenge now for 2 weeks. Love her!

Deb...it was a great idea with the town changing to Saturday but with the nasty weather we had yesterday everyone seemed to go to another town on halloween instead of here Saturday 11-1pm. We had 1 family of three yesterday. That was it. Usually we have about 30 or so kids. We had a ton of candy left over so I sent my son and his GF home with it all. Needed to get it out of the house!

Judy...yeah on the gym! I love my basement gym. I have it set up so it completely motivates me to work out! Can't wait for your pictures!

Valerie...hope your vacation is going well!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Have a great night all. My boss is out Monday thru Wednesday so I am hoping for a great night of sleep tonight instead of my usual Sunday night blues. Yeah...bring it on!!!

Good morning,

Well it's Monday again, hate how that happens. I did the new KCM kettle bell workout yesterday, ( tough one) and got up and did a Cardio Coach this morning. That extra hour we got over the weekend was lost with about 4 more for me last night. I hate Sunday nights.

Judy, looking forward to seeing the pics of your workout room.

Josie, does your son have any say in the kids schooling etc? Can he call and arrange for tutoring?

Lynda, 74 minutes of barre sounds excruciating! Ouch. Good job. Does Max guard the piglets?

Lori, Hope you got a good night's sleep last night. John mentioned that there was a blizzard going on at the New England game yesterday. My 2 are snugglers as well. These are the first pair we have that actually snuggle together as well as with us.

Work, then late class, if I can drag myself there,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did After Burn (54:00).

Deb, I think SB's barre workouts fly by. The most difficult section on this one was the core work--a lot of plank-oriented stuff, and she does this downward dog to upward dog that is a real killer on my arms, which start shaking after a bit. Nope--pigs don't need any dog to guard them, and they are super-smart about the electric fence--just one strand and they learn so quickly. By the time piglets are weaned, they are about 25-30 lbs. I am really impressed with all the premixes on that low-impact hiit Cathe is putting out.

Lori, that was a good idea getting rid of all that candy right away. We never get anyone because of our location, so I just don't buy any. When my boys were little, we would do our trick-or-treating down in town and I would bring along candy to give to the people who were getting hit by a horde--one street in particular. We did get a lot of wind, but no rain, and it's nice here today. Sounds like your boss is the source of your inability to sleep on Sunday nights.

Went to see The Drop with James Gandolfini. It's a well-done film, based on a short story by Dennis Lehane titled "Animal Rescue." It really is as good as the short story and packs a nice ironic twist at the end.

Tomorrow is election day. VOTE!

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did a Spinerval then 20 minutes of Core Max.

Josie-We picked up the trainer from REI on Saturday. Thanks for the link, Bikenashbar does have great prices.

Lori-our cats are snugglers too, especially Chino. He is a lap kitty and he loves to cuddle.

Deb-I will be doing KCM's kettle bell workout this week. I looked at the dvd and both workouts look good. She also has lots of premixes like Cathe.

Lynda-both DH and I are off work tomorrow and the first thing we are doing is voting.

Here is how my gym looks today. DH hasn't had a chance to move his electronics out of the way yet and I need to get things organized better but at least for now have more room than I did in the spare bedroom/office that I was using before. Also, less distractions.

Hi to Valerie!

Judy

Good evening ladies!

Slept really good and decided to sleep in to get the extra hour of sleep. At lunch I did 2 advanced SB Barre segments that totaled about 35 minutes. A good lunch time workout. Tonight no workout as Monday is usually my rest day but I slept so well last night I could not help myself at lunch!

Lynda...you are so right about SB's workouts just fly by. I like how her dvd's are in segments. Before you know it you have been working out for more than an hour. No dread factor whatsoever. Weather was nice here today too. Yup ....boss is the root of my sleepless nights for sure.

Judy....your gym is looking great! That was quick getting a bike trainer. I had one years ago and liked it. You will love having your own space to workout in. Your kitty is sooo cute!

Deb..I hear you on those dreaded Sunday nights. I hate them so much. Last night was much needed relief for me. Good job on the KCM kettlebell. I have never done a kettlebell workout. They just do no appeal to me. Perhaps because I have invested so much already into my weights I do not feel the need to start with kettlebells. Everyone seems to love them though.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Completely forgot to comment on the premixes for the new workouts. I am loving what I see on all of them so far. I like some were a little dissappointed with the last set and also wish they were chaptered more. Seems like she is certainly making up for them and then some. They look awesome and could not come soon enough!

Good morning & Happy Tuesday!

Get out to Vote! We will be there when the polls open. Need to remove the tyrannical governor of NY asap. I know the polls say it is not going to happen, but it sure won't if people do not get out there and vote.

Lynda, I am happy with most of what I see of Cathe's new series. I think all the high impact are on one DVD so that makes it easy to sell if I decide to. I have read books by Dennis Lehane, I am going to see if I can find that short story.

Judy, love the new gym! It's so nice to have a separate area to keep all your stuff in and it's out of the way.

Lori, isn't it amazing how good we can sleep when the "work" issues are not there? Kettle Bells are really a weight with a handle. KCM's are definitely done so that anyone can sub a dumbbell for the KB. She mentions in her intro to the DVD that she eliminated some of the more traditional KB moves because they need to be taught specifically, ( she is right) so people would avoid injury.

Hi to Josie,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain bis and tris (45:34). Cathe should call this one bi and tri-fried.

Deb, the puppy rescued in The Drop is adorable. Makes you love the guy who decides to keep him after he finds him in a garbage can. I suppose in After Burn when you swing that 15 lb. dumbbell in one of the intervals, it's a lot like a kettlebell swing.

Judy, Chino is a cutie. I bet you will enjoy your new workout space.

Lori, I like the segments in SB too. You just feel like, "Oh, my thighs are 'done' and now we are moving on to the glutes and hamstrings." Each section is about 12-15 min. long and she gives you some nice pauses between moves. I hope she comes out with more dvds.

Josie, the problem with being a MIL is that there are so many stereotypes about "meddling" that anything you say or do is probably already perceived in a prejudiced way, and you don't want to endanger your relationship with your peanuts.

Well, I did my civic duty.

Good evening ladies...

This morning I needed to do less impact but still wanted the heart rate up. So I did a couple of Jessica Smith workouts. One was a 15 minute power walk that I used hand weights and my 10lb vest followed up with an 11 minute fat blaster hiit. I was surprisingly sweaty at the end. The intensity kind of caught me by surprise and I like jessica's personality a lot. Tonight I kept with SB's Fit for Fall Challenge which was Strong Back and Standing Abs. Thought they were great workouts. The strong back was amazing. The moves were so different and I used only 3lb weights and boy was I feeling it. As I have said before it is crazy that she can do this to you with very light weights!

Lynda....I am glad you like SB. I think I fell in love with Barre because of her. She is such a great instructor and her personality is so welcoming. I have seen that she is filming new DVD's. Actually I am pretty sure she is done filming. Not sure when they will be released but I imagine soon. You can be sure I will buy them! I voted after work. Will be interesting to see who takes over as Governor.

Deb....my boss is back in the office on Thursday so I am sure I will have my Sunday blues tomorrow night. Ugh. I'll have to check out KCM's new workout. Boy she really has bumped out a few new DVD's this year. She is another instructor I like and click with. Very upbeat.

Hi to Valerie, Judy and Josie!

Good morning & Happy Hump Day for us working stiffs!

I got up at 3:45, and did a treadmill workout. Now relaxing with a cup of coffee. My favorite time of the day.

Lynda, I did my civic duty too, however the bozo governor in office won, and we are facing a horrible & corrupt next 4 years. I think using a DB in the KB workout would be fine. Handles are not all that necessary.

Lori, I like Jessica Smith's workouts, I have a couple of the YouTube ones on my iPad. She has one that uses a band, which is a good travel one. I hear you on the boss and the sleepless nights. Thankfully, I have a great boss, it's not him that causes my sleeplessness nights, mostly what goes on in general.

Work, then home to maybe try a NG recipe...I need to thaw out some chicken...

Hi to Josie, Judy, and the travelling Valerie,

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I had to go to the Dr. yesterday. I found a lump in my right arm pit last Friday while I was taking a shower. It was painful to the touch and it was the size of a small gum ball. When I went to spin class yesterday I asked my BF to check it and she said that it was just an inflamed lymph node. She is a nurse practitioner and when I saw my Dr. She said the same thing. She prescribed antibiotics for 10 days and hot compresses twice a day. It is no longer painful and have notices that it has shrunk. But let me tell you! I was worried all weekend and did not tell anyone until yesterday.

Lynda, you are correct about being a MIL. I don't want endanger my relationship with my peanuts. My peanut #1 called me last night because he said he had been thinking of me all day and that he missed me very much. It just melted my heart and this is why I keep my mouth shut when it comes to their mom.

Lori, too bad you boss is coming back tomorrow. I visited my old office yesterday and the witch is still there and everyone is miserable. I had lunch with a couple of them and nothing has changed since I left :(.

Hi to Deb, Judy and Valerie!

Josie.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Dancin' Abs (58:00).

Gee, Deb, what do you think the governor will do to impact you so negatively? Massachusetts is such a liberal state I don't think a Repub we elected will have much of a negative impact--no anti-abortion laws, fetal personhood amendments, or what Brownback did to Kansas with those tax cuts to education and the state's credit rating. And, of course, we have Romneycare, which is the same as the ACA. I voted for Coakley, because she's from around here, went to Williams, and was an impressive Attorney General. She must be a bad campaigner, first to lose to Scott Brown (ugh! so glad he lost in NH), and now this guy, about whom I know very little other than that he's pro-choice and worked with Weld, who was also a pretty liberal Repub and another Williams grad.

Lori, let me know when SB comes out with more dvds. I will definitely buy them. That's too bad about your boss. Is he a real taskmaster?

Josie, I bet your weekend was difficult just thinking about that lump. So glad it's an inflammation and taken care of with antibiotics. Ahh--you are such a great grandma.

Hi to Judy and Valerie!

Good evening ladies,

No workout today. The alarm went off and as soon as I opened my eyes I felt a speck of something fall into my right eye. Wow it felt like a huge rock and hurt unbelievable. I immediatly tried flushing but got no releif. After a while it did feel better but never quite went away. All day at work the lights were killing me and then driving home was horrible. My eye was just tearing most of the way. About 15 minutes from the house my eye started to feel better. The tearing must have completely got whatever it was out. Thank goodness! But now I have a headache and absoluetely will not be working out. Geez this was crazy!

Lynda...wow...some race. I am glad Brown did not win. Something about him rubs me wrong. I do not know much about Baker but my DH loves him so he his happy. Yes I will let you know when her new DVD's come out. I am hoping Cathe's ship by the end of the month. Would love to start up in December with these. My boss is a taskmaster for sure but that does not bother me it is his personality and rudeness that I can't stand.

Josie...I had the exact same thing a few months back and it appeared out of nowhere. I made an appt and lost sleep prior to it. She said it was exactly that, put me on antibiotics and it was gone in a few days. And yes it was painful!

Deb...the few JS's I have done I have liked. I'll look up her band workouts. I'll add it with my travel fit and use only when I travel becuase that is the unwritten rule for you and me!

Hi to Judy and Valerie!

Good morning,

I got up and did workout #2 of the new KCM KB DVD. I really liked this one a lot. I had to take a few water breaks, whew!

Josie, that is so scary! I am so glad that it was just a inflamed lymph node. I can't imagine waiting all weekend to find out.

Lynda, this governor is a tyrant...comes up with bills/acts in the middle of the night, without any notice and just passes them. I don't want to get into anything controversial here, so I won't go into much more detail. If Mass is such a liberal state, how did a Repub get elected? In NY, "the city" is one mass voting group and then there is the rest of us. We just don't have the numbers.

Lori, you should have your eye checked out. To have something in there all day, irritating it can not be good. Did you ever figure out where it came from? Yes, the rule is band workouts are for travel only! LOL.

Hi to Judy & Valerie,

Take care,

11514.jpg Good Morning Everyone,

I'm going to be working on the gym set up today. Also going to the ENT this afternoon. I started getting a sore throat last night and I feel like I have a sinus infection coming on.
Here's a photo of Shadow. She isn't usually a lap kitty but she was yesterday.

Josie-I'm sorry you had to go through that. I've had a couple of things like that happen and waiting to find out what it is very unpleasant. I'm glad it wasn't anything serious.

Lori-I hope your eye is better. Any idea what got into it?

Deb-we stayed up late watching the election results. Mass & Illinois were surprising. Will be interesting to see how the next 2 years turn out.
We just started listening to Sirius XM and they have several good political talk stations. I like to listen to 124, POTUS.

Hi to Lynda & Valerie,

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Athletic Training (56:00). This one always gets me good.

Deb, I think MA has a history of Republican governors--Weld, Romney, and now Baker--but the legislature and the other top officials are predominantly Democratic. I watched the debates, and I honestly couldn't see much difference between Coakley and Baker on the issues that matter to me. There's no way Baker could get legislation passed shutting down abortion clinics or supporting a fetal personhood amendment or voter IDs to suppress the vote. When Romney was governor, he was really pretty liberal, but he kept being pushed to the extreme right in those debates when he was running for President, and, of course, he had to repudiate his own healthcare plan. We in western MA feel pretty much ignored by Boston too, so I know what you mean about upstate vs. downstate in NY. DH is pretty much a Yankee farmer and he gets riled about the lack of support for farming in the Boston legislature.

Lori, my DH is constantly getting stuff in his eyes and has been to the ER a number of times to get it out. He also has prescription antiseptic eye drops on hand at all times. You should surreptitiously and anonymously give your boss a copy of Search Inside Yourself. It's a great book about developing your emotional IQ and a manual for workplace happiness at Google. I love it and try to practice mindfulness and do a bit of meditating daily. It has certainly helped me in my own work and emotional well-being. My GP recommended it when I was feeling anxious about retirement.

Judy, Shadow is beautiful! The green in the eye--wow! Hope you fend off whatever is hitting you.
