Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/2

Good morning,

I did a treadmill workout this morning, got up at 3:45 and it felt great!

Judy, Shadow is beautiful! I hope your throat issue isn't serious.

Lynda, I looked at that book on Amazon, I wish it was in the library. You got it to help anxiety about retirement? Maybe I need that. I swing 180 degrees, excited and happy, then scared and nervous about it.

Hi to Josie, Lori, & the vacationing Valerie,

what's everyone doing this weekend? No classes at all this weekend, or Monday. We are renting our hall out to a club so all of our classes are cancelled. A nice break!

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

Did not do a workout this morning. We were expecting a window-washing team and since DH was off with Max to bring home a batch of Berkshire (these are black with a white belt) piglets, I didn't want to be in the shower when they arrived. But then it started raining so they called to cancel and won't be here until Monday, but later, so I won't miss my workout.

Yes, Deb, I was having little spells of panic and confided in my doctor. He recommended the book and it really helped me and continues to help me with concentration when I am writing and confidence that I have several more wonderful chapters to my life. It took me awhile to get the hang of meditation, but now I really like it--very calming and mind-freeing. I don't multi-task anymore, but keep my mind on one thing at a time. There was a time when I would stop in mid-sentence when writing so that when I went back to write more I had a place in medias res to begin again. It was stupid. Now I finish something before moving on.

I might go see Interstellar this weekend if there is a good matinee time. I think Christopher Nolan is a wonderful director and this looks excellent, but once again, very long.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good evening ladies!

Yesterday I kept with SB's challenge and did her Upper and Lower Compound. This workout is about 17 minutes and boy my thighs are burning and begging to stop at the end. One of my favorites of hers! I also did Cathe's Live Kickbox and Barre (minus the barre). Her Live cardio class from yesterday looked great so I hope to do that tomorrow. I took a rest day today so no workout.

My eye is better. I did end up going to the doctors yesterday. It was better but felt really irritated and my eye was so sensitive to light. Doctor could not find anything and gave me these drops to help with the irritation. Everynow and then I get lazy and use a facial cleansing wipe to remove my makup. They do not get everything like my liquid cleaser does. Because of this when I woke to the alarm and opened my eyes I felt something fall into my eye. I think it was leftover residue that dried all night from my mascara. Not 100% sure on this but this is what I am thinking.

Planning on a hike on Sunday providing the weather is good and not to cold. Other than this no plans at all!

Have a great night all!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the compliments on Shadow. She is a sweetie.

I went to the ENT yesterday and he said I have a sinus infection. He prescribed a Z-pack. I hate taking antibiotics but at least it's only for 5 days.
I don't have a fever, but I have a mild headache and don't feel too great. I did manage to do a lower intensity Spinerval this morning.
We haven't got anything special planned for the weekend. I hope to get a workout in but will have to see how I feel. I have lots of reading to get caught up on so this might be a good weekend for that. I might work on cleaning the basement and gym too.

Lori-a hike sounds nice! I hope the weather stays good for you.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Judy

Good morning & Happy Weekend!

No classes this whole weekend, and none on Monday night either! I feel like a kid that is on vacation from school

Lost 2 pound this week, which I am sure is mostly water, but hey, I'll take it. I don't have the cravings I usually do, it is amazing.

Lynda, I thought you were going to say that you didn't want the window washers to be looking in the windows while you were doing your workout. LOL. I spoke to our VP yesterday who is retiring at the end of the year (he started the same year I did and we have worked together for about 30 years) and asked him if he was at all nervous etc. He said definitely, he is going through the same thought process. It made me feel good to hear that. I like your thoughts on multi-tasking. I do that so much it's scary. Even at home, John hates it.

Lori, glad your eye is better and that you did go to the doctor. Makeup? wow, that is something.

Judy, glad you got something for your infection, careful with the antibiotics.

Hi to Josie & Valerie,

I have a haircut/color today, and that's it except for HouseMax. I may try to cook a couple of the meals fron NG to use for the week.

Take care,

I'm back.... got back late yesterday. we had a good but not wonderful trip. some things were fabulous, others not so much. we rode several places but not everywhere we wanted. we rode one trail in the redwoods that was just amazing. probably not truly open to biking but it didn't say "no bikes" so we took a chance and did it. it was just lovely, dark, green soft, cushiony winding around all these beautiful gigantic trees. no one was walking it and was open to horses so we did it and loved it. we are not the kind of riders who skid turns or otherwise mark up a trail. saw loads of elk. some lovely beaches. then went inland to some dry Oakland forest. the ride there was not what we'd hoped. Okay, but not a repeater. weather on the coast deteriorated so we went north and inland to do a ride in SW WA but when we got to the road, holy cow, it was a major elk hunting season. thought that was over with in Oct! never saw so many hunting camps in my life, hundreds of people after some poor couple elk. I actually spotted an elk dashing back into the trees. we looked at the trail we could ride but it was going to be tough, and there were hunters everywhere so we decided to be sensible and try another day. we'd stopped at an info station but the guy didn't mention a word about it being a major hunting mecca!. Jerk. regardless, it would still be pushing the limits of our riding and we didn't even want to hike it with the population of people ready to shoot whatever moved.

Lori, sounds like a corneal abrasion. I've had them once or twice. does not take much to scratch the eye surface. mine were all minor, gone after a good nights sleep. I've gotten eyelashes falling into my eye and since I wear soft contacts it can set up a conflict. DH has had abrasions from getting whipped by a branch and had to wear a patch for a few days but all healed up fine. Hope it's OK by now.
Josie that must have been scary! we all think the worst right away, don't we?

Deb, have you started the restricted NG diet?
one thing I would recommend is that if you do social things with people you work with, try to find places to pick that up outside of the workplace. in my experience the workplace friendships went dormant quickly. so I started yoga, got friendly with my neighbors etc.

we just finished a series that was cancelled early. called The Bridge and was very good. I need to check and make sure it didn't get picked up somewhere else. DH and I both liked it a lot ... 2 seasons and that looks like all there is.
