Good morning all,

Today I wll be doing some treadmill and the chest work from
STS Meso 2 Week 2. ( what a mouthful!)

Garance: Happy Birthday! That meal sounded lovely!. As for the tile, I bought something called Stain Solver that I found on the internet. You mix it up, put it in the grout lines and wait about 30 minutes. I then use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and it gets the dirt right out. It is not easy, you still have to scrub a bit but the color is back and the floor looks new. The problem is you can only do a small section at a time because you have to kneel and clean each grout line individually. I have not sealed it. Not sure if I will. I called the people from Stain Solver and they recommended not sealing it because she said the grout is porous, and if the sealer does not get into all of it, you will have some sealed parts and some not and it will still get dirty. Not sure if this is true or she is just concerned about people not having to buy the stuff any more.

What is everyone up to today? I have more HouseMax after working out and will be going to the library for new books to read.

Have a good day!

Hi Deb, Joan, and any later posters--

This morning I did disk 7 (55 min.), and my chest is feeling kind of sore from all those pushups (agh!).

Thank you for the happy birthdays! I can't decide whether to take it easy today or just keep working on my book. I did watch "I Have Loved You So Long" with Kristin Scott-Thomas last night. It was very moving.

It's unusually warm for November here--59 degrees and it may get even warmer. The sun keeps trying to come out as well.

I will have to look up that Stain Solver, Deb, although it sounds like an awful lot of work. I would like to do the bathroom downstairs and I'm pretty sure DH is too busy to get out the sander again for me.

I'm also trying to decide what to do with the money from my Gastronomica article. Three hundred dollars that I should definitely blow on something! Exercise stuff? Cooking stuff? More clothes to stuff in my overcrowded closets? Decisions, decisions!

hi everyone, been busy w/my adorable grandkids. :) my 4 yr. old granddaughter rode horses with the big girls for 5 hrs. yesterday!!! she is so incredible. she was planted on that horse. LOL! and she was not happy when it was time to get off.
didn't get to a workout today, just too tired.
did cardio fusion on friday and the fimr's upper body sculpt yesterday. pretty sore for it too. gotta see what is on the agenda for tomorrow.

Monday, Monday

Hi all,

I just finished a 30 minute I-Tread and Shoulders from STS. Having coffee before shower etc.

Garance, it was pretty nice here yesterday, in the 50's, but gloomy. I'll take it though. It's better than snow. The Stain Solver is no miracle cleaner that's for sure. It basically loosens the dirt from the grout so it is easier to scrub away. The grout in my kitchen was a wedgewood blue when it was new, and had turned almost black. it is now blue again and I love it! Spend the money on Essential C, and any clothes you absolutely have to have.

Cathy, your gd must love riding. I can't imagine anything keeping a 4 year olds attention for that long.

Hi to Joan and Josie!

5 more days before I am off for a week! Yay, I can't wait! :D

good morning everyone;
I'm dragging in last friday so I can brag.. did GS legs skipping only a few reps and the last exercise. followed thru and did GS chest/triceps and also coremax #1 later in the day. Saturday we went on our first xc ski of the year so 3 hours of decent cardio. sunday I did 20 on the stationary bike and GS back biceps.
Today haven't decided yet. I need to get a blood draw this morning so don't want to do any upper body for a day.
Thanks for including a little background info.

I'm 61, retired, live in arlington, WA. Used to be a medical technologist, then medical sales and a technical field rep, consulting work, then medical transcription. Retired a few years ago. No children.. my choice... never wanted any.

Now medical issues.
I had widely separated fainting episodes for several years. every 2-3 months I'd faint for no reason. spent a lot of time/ testing to find the cause. Last July, after wearing a heart monitor for 2.5 months we recorded an event. my heart was skipping several beats, BP drops, and wham, I'd faint. I'd get up in a minute and go on with whatever I was doing but obviously that's a problem. I ended up getting a pacemaker last july. the faints gave little warning. the main risk is falling and getting injured, or worse, a car wreck. There is no other treatment. the pacemaker is considered a "cure" . I couldn't raise my arm over my head for about 6 weeks. then about 2 months after the surgery, when I was just getting back into upper body weights, we went on a bike ride. I wore a small bike pack. the straps pressed on the vein where the pacemaker wires pass, and I got a DVT(blood clot) near my collarbone. so I'm on anticoagulation for 3 months. basically, this was an awful summer. I have no restrictions on activity. The pacer rarely clicks in. if I skip beats, it will, and I won't faint. I will always need to be careful about straps pressing against the top of my shoulder where the pacer wires are. this is the only time in my life that I wished I had a little more body fat, like some hip flab could migrate uphill. I'm pretty lean in the shoulder area. Anyway that's my tale of woe.

My grout is beyone any hope. no grout cleaner will save it.

Joan , your dil sounds like a fairly ungrateful person. I can't imagine doing that much to help and her still being unhappy about it.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Gay Gasper's Cardio Step Express (70.5 min.). Haven't done this one for awhile. It's strenuous.

Deb, it sounds like all of your work was worth it and you now can look at your floor without grimacing every time. Hmm--I'm thinking I want some fancy ramekins for when I make French onion soup as a starter. Then maybe I will go over to propertyroom.com and look at some jewelry.

Valerie, that sounds very scary. DH and I have friends who lost their youngest son when he was a junior in high school to a heart arhythmia. They woke up one morning and he was not breathing. They didn't know there was a problem. Absolutely heartbroken.

Cathy, good for you doing Cardio Fusion. I just could not handle all those blasts in the first all-step premix, so I will have to tuck that one away. I am SOOOO glad I cancelled my presale order for the Shock Cardio. I look at the pictures, and 80-90 % of them Cathe and crew are airborne. No way I could modify all of that high impact stuff!

Hi to Josie and Joan!!

Hi Ladies,

I'm so tired. I took my parents to the concert on Friday, and then I had a shower for my friend that getting married in India in December, then I walked a 5k and volunteered from 6:00 AM until noon at the race on Sunday. I did wo on Saturday before I had to go home and set up for the party.

I now have to go to the VA and meet with some of my PI's. I just want to go home and go to bed.

Garance, How was you dinner?

Deb, cleaning your floor is a workout in itself. You probably used a lot of calories doing it.

Hi to Joan, Cathy and Valerie.

Josie

Hi everyone,

It's a boy! Dil had ultrasound today. Elliot was disappointed- she wanted a sister.

Valerie I complain to everyone in the group rather than dil because I do feel sorry for dil. She has pregnancy induced depression and is limited in medication she can take. She is probably only half as bad as she sounds.:D

I have tax seminars in Il today and Tuesday. I didn't get home until 7 tonight because the 1 hr trip took 2 hrs due to rain and accidents(not mine) I plan to get back to exercise on Wednesday. They provide breakfast and lunch so diet will have to wait until Wednesday also.

Dh had birthday Saturday. I was able to surprise him with 10 family members at Italian restaurant. Food was great but service not. We did have a good time and I only had a chicken breast and 1/2 baked potato. Doesn't that sound like I was good. I won't mention the bread, appetizer or dessert.

Tuesday

Good Morning,

No workout today, crappy nights sleep. Not sure why, but there was no way I was getting up at 4:00.

Valerie, nice job on the workouts! You are surely one strong woman. I can't believe what you have gone through and you are still doing all that you do.

Garance, oh, I forgot all about propertyroom.com, thanks for reminding me. I may go over myself.

Josie, you deserved a day off, with all that you did this weekend.

Joan, a little GS! How sweet. What will they name him or did they decide on that yet?

Hi to Cathy!

Have a good day.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did disk 8 (56 min.) for back and tris.

Josie, I am filled with wonder at how much you packed into one day. I'd be falling over after all that. I did have my Manhattan, but only one because we ordered a bottle of wine with dinner. You will have to have one of your own.

Joan, it sounds like you are just too busy to find time to work out or eat right. Is your dil depressed when she is not pregnant? Go ahead and complain all you want here--a good place since it avoids confrontation.

Deb, I bought my ramekins yesterday. Still some cash left to play with.

Hi to Cathy and Valerie!

Hi everyone,

It's still raining so trip today was very tiring but at least no accidents.

Before Elliot was born they had decided on Elliot if it was a girl and Benito if it was a boy. They didn't want to tell anyone in advance because they thought we would criticize them but wouldn't after baby was born. We did mention Mussolini, so I don't know what name they will go with. The baby is due April 10th.

Dil is not depressed normally but postpartem is worse than pregnancy. Ds has depression but does fine with medication normally. During the pregnancy ds has to take antianxiety drug . Fortunately they have decided they better only have two kids. It's a shame because I felt the best in my life when I was pregnant.

Hump Day

Good morning,

No workout today, I wanted to sleep a little after the night before. Keegan woke us up at 3:30..ugh..DH took him downstairs so I could get a little more sleep before the regular alarm went off.

Garance, just let me know if you want to stock up on Murad stuff with your stash of cash! I'll get one out to you, cheap!

Joan, too bad about the depression associated with pregnancy. I have never been so cannot comment. The name does sound..umm...kind of unique? Have you worked out this week?

Hi to Josie, Cathy and Valerie...

Have a good day...3 days before vacation!:D

Hi Ladies,

I did not work out last night. I forgot to tell you that I stubbed one of my toes on the right foot and hit my knee dancing during the shower. I still did the 5k and I think that made it worst. I was having to much fun what can I say, so I have been wearing flats to work and everyone is making fund of me. They say I look short.

Today I will be doing some shopping for Thanksgiving and I need to buy my little Peanuts their birthday gifts. Mickey turns 5 on Nov. 29 and Alex turned 2 Nov. 14th.

Deb, I will also be on vacation next week and can't wait.

Joan, It is so bad that you dil can't enjoy her pregnancy. It was the best time for me.

Hi Valerie, Garance and Cathy!

Josie

Kelsey had some "episode" this morning which made me take the day off so I could take her to the vet....it might have been a petit mal seizure, they are not sure. it was like she was drunk and could not get her balance. By the time they did the exam and we paid and left, she was back to normal. At least it wasn't a stroke. That is what DH first thought was when she could not walk etc.

It's always something...

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Low Max (70 min.). I wish Cathe would do another one of these.

Deb, I still have quite a bit of my Essential-C left, but thanks! I will let you know when I am running low because you get it so cheap for me. Too bad about Kelsey! She has had other problems in the past and I know how much you love her.

Joan, my problem during both pregnancies was heartburn. The only thing that really helped it was Chinese food with a lot of ginger in it. Sure hope the little guy doesn't end up with Mussolini's first name. The other Benito is that Italian actor who won the Oscar maybe 15 years ago. Hated that film with its totally idiotic portrayal of Nazi death camps--A Beautiful Life! He was a goofball.

Sorry about your injuries Josie. At least you were doing something fun at the time.

Hi to Cathy and Valerie!

Good evening all,

I started low impact step during Elliot's nap time and am just now finishing it. No I haven't been working out all this time. My business phone always rings when I'm doing something else.

I told you last week dil had been a little sick. Now doctors have told her she has mono. It's always something.

Mother has made it through 2 days of radiation. They decided they wanted to aim radiation from the side instead of the front so they had to stick her with needles and do another plaster cast to hold her in place. It's not plaster but I don't know how to explain it. She does not have to hold her right arm above her head. It should be less painful. Today was almost 2 hours but the radiation was only 15 minutes.

How old is Kelsey?

Joan

Thursday

Good Morning,

No workout again. I needed to sleep. I went to bed earlyk, DH went to a meeting. Of course when he got home, I woke up and he had to tell me all about it. Then Kelsey had to go out around 2:30 , I got up for that.. I did not want to get up again at 4:00. Two more work days and then it is vaction which I am so looking forward to.

Kelsey is back to normal, a little unsteady, I think whatever happened to her did something to her confidence in walking etc.

Garance, LowMax is the only workout I kept in that series, sold all the rest on ebay. Although I never do it, because it still has some dancy steps that I cannot get for some reason. I think I have the first half down, or maybe one of the pre-mixes.

Josie, you are one energetic bunny! dancing and 5ks', bike riding, and Kevin!

Joan, Mono during pregnancy has to be difficult. How would she get that? Kelsey is 14. Your poor Mom, she sounds like a strong person, and she is so lucky to have you there for her.

Hi to Cathy and Valerie,

Have a good day!

Happy belated birthday garance, hope you had a good day.

I ended up doing only cardio on tuesday, didn't plan things very well and had a bunch of shopping to do and the weather was awful. hard rain, wind, the freeway visibility was about zero. winter in the northwest is pretty trying. then there was a burglary or attempted burglary 2 doors down and police were everywhere.

the whole pacemaker thing ended up not being as big a deal as I thought. It very rarely kicks in, two times since july. there are all kinds of heart arrhythmias, mine is pretty benign, more inconvenient than anything else. Makes me want to work hard!

wednesday we went mt biking, kind of a wash out. very wet and muddy, I have mud places that have never seen mud before. It was pretty cold , and we both were OK going uphill but by the time we made the circuit with a long downhill our hands were frozen, even with gloves. need to adjust clothing! we had ridden mt bikes only when it was warmer and this was a shock to see how fast we got cold. hard to even pull on the brakes when your hands are that cold.

Deb, Kelsey is the little dog on your avatar? Hope she's Ok.

Joan, Elliot as a girl's name? I've never heard that before. No reason why it won't work, just a first for me. sorry to hear your dil has mono. I had it when I was in my 20's and I was pretty sick. had an amazingly bad sore throat. It went on for weeks and then suddenly was gone. I remember being so exhausted I could barely walk to the bathroom. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I don't know if anti-viral meds are used or if it just has to run its course.
