Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/12/2023

Just finished Live Arms and Abs on the Ball. It's a thorough, but very fast paced workout. I did get a break though because about 2/3rds of the way through Tux, who had been "helping" me, finally realized that Chester was sleeping in the chair and zeroed in on him. Chester didn't appreciate it and I picked up Tux and up stairs and outside he went. Chester went back to sleep. It's clear that both Mopsy and Flopsy have Tux's number and they will actually get him to move on, but Chester won't with his growling and cowering, which is sad in an 18 pound cat, just acts the victim and Tux thrives on it. Ugh

Diane Sue I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's wife. Condolences to you and your family.

Hi to everyone.

up and post shower. moving slowly but moving. this will be a long ass road!. made DH a pumpkin pie for his birthday. made crust yesterday and finishing pie today. coming out of the oven soon,. amazing how complicated everything is if you cant bend or lean. or stand very long. I've been upright the last two days much more than previously but I get tired. doing stairs ok but slowly. i cant afford to stumble.
diane sue condolences to you for your SIL.

This morning was yoga/mobility for 18 minutes.

Diane Sue, I’m so sorry to hear about your brother’s wife. My condolences to your family.

Cathy, great job with Live Arms and Abs on the Ball. Your cats sound like they are very entertaining.

Valerie, good to know that you are moving about slowly. Making a pumpkin pie is a good way to keep busy without overdoing it. I try to make my pie crusts ahead of time to simulate the actual pie making.

Hello to Judy.

Diane Sue-I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's wife. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

This morning I did P30 PP Lower Body plus the bonus.

Carolyn nice job with the yoga. Entertaining is one way to describe the cats. LOL

Valerie I'm glad you are able to move around more.

it isnt the difficulty of projects but whether I can reach things. its amazing how many things in the kitchen are either higher or lower, requiring bending. but a kitchen with everything at mid level would be chaotic. a pie crust wasn't that hard but had to get the rolling pin out, the pie dish out of the stack of dishes, ingredients off shelves that I can't currently reach. i use a grabber device but it wont work on heavier things, I could grab spice jars but not the blender. the plastic wrap is under the kitchen sink but that's bending. could not grab the 5 lb bag of flour with a grabber. sigh. it will improve. I am not even 2 weeks out so I am not really complaining just whining a little. long time before anything remotely challenging will be happening. The pie is good!.

Today I did P30 Low Impact HiiT which was 30 minutes and 201 calories burned. My average heart rate was 128 and maximum heart rate was 152. Then I did P30 Mobility Basics Stretch for another 21 minutes and 52 calories.

Cathy, great job with P30 Lower Body +Bonus.

Valerie, you are right, we never think of all the twisting and turning involved in our routine tasks. I’m glad that you are able to improvise.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Today I did CDorner Step and Strength with dumbbells 47 minutes, 234 calories, heart rate 130/157, 3,575 steps. I then did Raw Upper Body & abs, 33 minutes, 79 calories, heart rate 94/114. I finished with CDorner Mobility Challenge day 29 hips and low back mobility and day 30 Full Body static stretch(30 seconds hold with timer), 32 minutes, 44 calories. Total time was 1 hour 52 minutes, 357 calories, 3,749 steps. I have a busy week so not sure if I will get in many workouts. Tomorrow I have a pulmonologist appointment and Friday I have a dental appointment because something is hurting in my gums and jaw. They will do xrays and stuff. Both during the time I usually work out. We are doing family Thanksgiving this weekend and I have shopping and cooking to do.

I worked this weekend and got a lot of steps in there. I did 10 minutes of rowing after work yesterday and today I did 55 minutes of Peloton rides, 5 minutes of rowing and 20 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength work. Chris is loving the rowing machine and is doing the longer 30-45 minute workouts on it. He does it 4-5 days a week now.

Cathy-Great job with Live Arms and Abs on the Ball and P30 PP Lower Body plus the bonus. I agree with Carolyn, your cats do sound very entertaining!

Carolyn-Great job with yoga/mobility, P30 Low Impact HiiT, and P30 Mobility Basics Stretch.

Valerie-That’s great that you are moving around more.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Step and Strength, Raw Upper Body & abs and the mobility challenge. I hope your doctor and dentist appointments go well.

Valerie, you are doing good doing tasks such a short time out from the procedure. I would have a hard time getting pie plates out. Mine require me to get a ladder and I still would have to reach. It takes a while to get back to all normal things. I am going to make at least one pie for Thanksgiving. I like fruit pies and I have had family all come in with cream pies. My son in law sometimes makes pecan pie. My husband likes lemon pie, but only with the cook and serve mix. Not fresh stuff. Every year I have to order the Jello box mixes ahead of time because the stores do not carry it. I don't know why. Amazon always makes me purchase a pack of 6 boxes of it. Last year I had to hunt all over and I purchased a international brand lemon pie filling mix. It seems odd that instant puddings is pretty much all that is carried. I would prefer a custard or something myself.

Cathy, nice work getting in P30 PP Lower Body plus the bonus.

Carolyn, great job on P30 Low Impact HiiT and P30 Mobility Stretch for 20 minutes.

Judy, nice work getting in 10 minutes of rowing after work yesterday and today's 55 minutes of Peloton rides, 5 minutes of rowing and 20 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength. That is great that Chris is loving the rowing machine.

This morning I did My Finished Step and near the beginning of the last segment it froze on me. Ugh! I don't know if our internet glitched or OnDemand had a brief issue, but by the time I messed with it and got it going again, my brain had lost it's focus, so the rest of it was rather messy.

If any of you would like to experience entertaining life with Tux, you can borrow him. LOL Though given the horror of traveling with him, I have quickly rethought that. LOL I've had to remove my plants from the table along with the salt and pepper because he tries to shove them off. That cat in all the cartoons knocking things over-that's Tux! Plus if you didn't already know, cat paws work on iPads. I was trying to read while I had my tea this morning and he was flopping around and kept grabbing my iPad and changing my page!

Valerie I can only imagine how frustrating it is to deal with a small range of motion. I think you are doing amazingly well with your limitations. I will freely admit that while I may be able to sit and read for hours, I fidget the entire time, something is always moving and my mental attitude during those times when I can't do things is not good. It's totally understandable that you would feel like whining.

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Step and Strength and mobility and stretch workouts.

Judy nice job with all the Peloton workouts.

Carolyn great job with P30 Low Impact HiiT and stretch.

Today I did P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body for 38 minutes and 122 calories burned. My average heart rate was 106 and maximum heart rate was 133.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step and Strength, Raw Upper Body &Abs, CDorner Mobility challenge. Thanksgiving shopping and preparation can take a lot of time. I’m slowly working on things that I can prepare and freeze ahead of time. I will make pie crusts later this week and freeze them.

Judy, great job with your Peloton rides, rowing, and strength this week. I’m sure that you get a lot of steps at work. That’s great that Chris really likes the Rower.

Cathy, nice job doing your Finished Step routine even with the streaming/internet problem. Interruptions like that are very frustrating .

Waving hello to Valerie.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix and one for 26 minutes and 174 calories burned. My average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 151.

Cathy, nice job on your lower body no weights workout.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did Raw Boxing and Legs 2, 36 minutes, heart rate 133/161, 187 calories, 2,463 steps. I wore 1 1/2 # weighted gloves and use 15# dumbbells for legs. I then did Raw TBST Strength Lower body, 17 minutes, heart rate 107/134, 52 calories. Ended with Raw Stretch 20 minutes, 39 calories. Total time was 73 minutes, 283 calories. My pulmonologist put me on an inhaler to see if that helps with the coughing. She thinks I might have some asthma. That was one unexpected expensive inhaler when I went to pick it up.

Raw TBTS lower body
3 moves done for 3 sets of 10 reps

Wide dead/squat up 20# dbs 10 reps 3 sets
Goblet hold close stance squat 3 pulses 20# dumbbell 10 reps 3 sets
Step back plie squat alternating (Kelly calls it plie) 20# dbs 10 reps 3 sets rt and lt count as 1 reps

Cathy, having to stop and work to get the workout back up and running would be a pretty much make me lose my focus. Tux sounds like a character. I am sure you get some laughs out of all of it. We had a cat named Bobo once that knocked things over. When he thought no one was looking her would get on top of the refrigerator and knock off those little hot dog looking treats for the dog so he could eat one. He was not allowed on my husband's chair because he didn't want light colored cat hair all over his black work pants. As soon as he would get up, Bobo would run and get in the chair. Nice work on the lower body with firewalker, disc, and barre that you put together.

Carolyn, nice work with KCM Cardio Quick FIx today and P30 Perfect Pump Upper body yesterday. I have the pie crusts in the freezer and turkey thawing in the garage refrigerator. I am going to boil eggs Friday and peel them ahead I think to make it easier for deviled eggs and potato salad. I decided that I want to make a blueberry pie. Unfortunately, I did not get the fresh blueberries that I ordered from Walmart. I did get a big back of frozen as I had them on the shopping list too. I find I order a lot of substitutes just in case I do not get what I wanted. I wondered if I would get them as they said they were out of stock a week ago when I just wanted a small container to eat with my yogurt. They were also out of oranges. I am wondering if it is just our area or if stores have a hard time keeping their shelves stocked. I had 8 items that they did not have or have a substitute for missing this time.

Hi to Judy and Valerie.

I didn’t work out today. I needed to do some grocery shopping and wanted an early start. I did that and made a quick trip to our Costco Business Center to pick up a couple of items. We actually have a real Costco opening today just 6 miles away. I didn’t go there but I’m glad that it’s finally here. It’s been talked about for almost 4 years!

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Boxing and Legs, Raw Strength Lower Body, and Raw Stretch. I’m glad that the Pulmonologist prescribed something for the coughing. Now that he has ruled out other possibilities I guess asthma makes sense.

Hello to Cathy, Judy, and Valerie.

Tuesday I did 30 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength and 25 minutes of light rowing. Yesterday I did a 45 minute Peloton ride and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga. Today I did 45 minutes of beginner row classes, 10 minutes of upper body work and 5 minutes of core.

Carolyn-Great job with P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body and Cardio Quick Fix. That's good that you have a new Costco nearby.

Diane Sue-Great job with Raw Boxing and Legs 2, Raw TBST Strength Lower body and the stretch. That’s good that your pulmonologist prescribed an inhaler. I hope that it helps with your coughing. Chris was prescribed an inhaler one time when he had bronchitis and I remember the cost being higher than expected.

Cathy-Great job with your Finished Step and the lower body no weights workout. That’s frustrating to have the internet glitch like that. We’ve had a couple of glitches with Peloton this week.

Hi to Valerie

Saw my surgeon this morning for a f/up appt. he is very pleased with how things are going and feels Im progressing very well. scar looks great. Im walking reasonably well. no big distances yet but a lot of frequent short duration which isd what feels ok now. saw xrays of the new set up in my back. that is one scary looking tangle of metal! whatever, as long as it works. all the bones/metal have to fuse together which is why I need to be very cautious over the next 3 months with no bending. one day at a time. this will be a long haul for sure. i really miss being able to do workouts of any kind.

Today I did CDorner Tabata Cardio + stretch, 42 minutes,182 calories, heart rate 124/161, 2,130 steps. I then did Raw TBTS Pull Day, 17 minutes, 63 calories, heart rate 106/132. Total time was 59 minutes, 245 calories.

TBTS Pull Day
Hammer curls 17# dbs 8 reps; 17# dbs 8 reps
Reverse Flys 12# dbs 8 reps; 12# dbs 8 reps
Zottman Curls 15# dbs 8 reps 15# dbs 8 reps
Bent over Row palms front 25# dbs 8 re[s
Bent over Row palms back 25# dbs 8 reps
Pullover 20# db 8 reps; pullover 20# db 8 reps
stretch

Valerie, the follow up is encouraging. Did they make any suggestions on nutrition to help the body heal.
I had a surgeon give me sheets suggesting lots of protein and lots of water.

Carolyn, that is nice that they are putting a Costco there. They had talked about the one they put near our other home for several years. I think they were going back and forth on stuff. It seems businesses go through a lot with the City. The same went with them putting a grocery store in another city we lived in. Lots of stuff about tax deals and stuff. There was also some sort of a fuss for those did not want a business. It was great once they got it built. I always had to go to the dollar store or drive into the OKC.

Judy, great job on Peloton Full Body Strength and rowing Tuesday, Peloton Ride and Yin Yoga yesterday, and today's Beginner row classes, and 10 minutes upper body work and 5 minutes of core work today. This inhaler was so much that if it helps I am going to see if they can give me one that costs less. Insurance pays, but my deductable was over 500 dollars and the inhaler ended up costing me 411 dollars. We are starting a new year soon and I will have to hit a deductible again.
