Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/05/2023

I did STS 2 Upper Body 2 two reps max today. As noted before that only drops off two rounds. LOL Nice sunny day here today. I don't care what the temp is, sunshine always makes it better! 0 degrees no wind and sun, I'm good.

Carolyn great job keeping up the yoga.

Valerie that's a very nasty reaction to have, I'm glad there are other options available to you.

Yesterday I started with CDorner challenge Quick and Simple Total Body Warm up routine stretch day 21, 18 minutes, 28 calories. I then did Raw Shoulders 23 minutes, 72 calories, heart rate 99/121. Next was Raw Lower Body(Pyramids) skipping the reverse lunges at the end. My low back and upper back were hurting so I forwarded to the stretch. 31 minutes, 126 calories heart rate 113/130. I finished with Raw Stretch and Raw stretch finisher, 26 minutes, 50 calories. Total time was 98 minutes, 276 calories. I think I am going to be sore as I did a bit heavier than I have been on upright rows and overhead press. No workout today.

Valerie, I am glad you are slowly getting things straightened out.

Carolyn, I always liked the RWH low impact workout that used dumbbells. I am not sure what number that is. Nice work on the yoga practice. I have not done my mobility workout today. I may just do two tomorrow.

Cathy, nice work with STS 2 Upper Body two 2 max. I much prefer the shorter mixes on those workouts.

This morning I did PP Lower Body minus the deadlifts. It's the way I created the workout, and probably wasn't a bad thing since my lower back while not bothering me was definitely bordering it. Tux found his way downstairs yesterday and stayed free all night with no eruptions. This morning I found Chester asleep in the chair down there and Tux on the bed surveying his kingdom. Not sure whether Chester knew he was there or not. The biggest issue is when they end up on opposite sides of the pet door, smaller issues whenever Tux is within 10' of him.

Diane Sue I'm sorry your back was hurting you. Sounds like you came up with a good workout compilation. On those STS 2 workouts I'm just confused why there would be a premix dropping only 2 exercises, but since I've done it several times I'm clearly okay with it.

Valerie, I hope your progress is going smoothly.

Hi to Carolyn and Judy.

Today I did RWH Low Impact HiiT Two for 30 minutes and 211 calories burned. My average heart rate was 133 and maximum heart rate was 155. I had this workout confused with the second workout from Low Impact Sweat that uses the step. I did substitute standing moves for the burpees and other moves where you go down to the floor.

Cathy, great job with STS 2 Upper Body 2 two reps max, and PP Lower Body. Contrary to what I said the other day, I don’t prefer one RWH Low Impact workout over the other. I had it mixed up with something else. Both workouts have the floor moves that I prefer not to do, but I just substitute something else.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Challenge stretch, Raw Shoulders, Raw Lower Body, and Raw stretches.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Today I did CDorner Step # 332 (halloween) Fast Basic step + abs standing, 59 minutes, heart rate 123/157, 259 calories, 4,241 steps. I followed with Day 22 of the mobility challenge, gentle low back stretch, 19 minutes, 25 calories. Total time was 77 minutes, 284 calories. This was a fun workout with a faster pace, but simple moves. If I did it again though I think I would skip the standing abs at the end. They were balancing side crunches with arm extended and pulls. I need to do today's stretch as I did yesterday's instead. It felt really good and Chris held the stretches for a while. I slept with my wedge pillow under my legs and back was much happier this morning.

Cathy, nice work on PP Lower Body minus the deadlifts. I am okay with deadlifts most of the time as long as I do not go to far below my knees. The pyramid workout that I did had you holding the dumbbells with little rest and my back and and upper back were really feeling it. I am surprised though that the next day my shoulders and chest were not sore at all. I figured I would be feeling that as I had pushed through the moves with heavier weight. I go back and forth with the wedge under my knees as it helps my back keeping it flat, but then after a few days my knee start complaining.

Carolyn, nice work with RWH Low Impact Hiit 2. I confuse those too at times. I like the one with the step, bu have pulled out the wrong workout myself a few times expecting something else. I have not used them in a while. Doesn't Low Impact Hiit 2 have two to the floor moves?

This morning I did RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets and no finishers. My time was 38 minutes with 167 calories burned. My average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 147. The November rotation has 4 Day Split workouts this week, but I’m didn’t want to do that so I’m substituting something else.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step+Abs, and day 22 of the Mobility Challenge. You are right, the RWH Low Impact has down to the floor moves in both one and two. I modify those moves to something standing, but that’s one reason that I don’t pull them out often.

Hello to Cathy, Valerie, and Judy.

Sunday I worked 6 hours and did 45 minutes of Yin Yoga in the evening. Yesterday I did a 45 minute Peloton Ride and today I did a 20 minute Row and 30 minutes of Restorative Yoga.

Carolyn-Great job with your yoga/mobility practice, RWH Low Impact HiiT Two and RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets, no finishers. RWH is such a good series and I love the premixes for the strength workouts.

Cathy- Great job with STS 2 Upper Body 2 premix and PP Lower Body, minus the deadlifts. It sounds like Tux is adjusting well.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner challenge Quick and Simple Total Body Warm up, Raw Shoulders, Raw Lower Body Pyramids, Raw Stretch, CDorner Halloween Step, and the mobility challenge. I hope your back is feeling better.

Hi to Valerie

Today I did Raw Strength Moves Total Body, 59 minutes, 142 calories, heart rate 95/123. This time I used dumbbells instead of kettlebells for part of it. I then did CDorner Mobility challenge day 23 morning stretch full body 11 minutes and Day 24 Neck and Back mobility, 14 minutes, both together was 24 minutes, 43 calories. Both of these were more of a movement flow rather than long holding stretches. Total time today was 83 minutes, 185 calories.

Raw Stength Moves Total Body (Kelly makes sure she does the same amount of reps on each side)
each move is done 3 sets 45 seconds

Goblet Squat 25# dumbbell 3 sets

Rows rt/lft done 3 sets 20# dumbbell

Barbell Hip Thrust using step 30# 3 sets

shoulder press rt/lft 3 sets 11 reps 12# db

Romanian Split Squat 10 reps 3 sets 20# kettlebell (didn't want to use a Bowflex weight)

Seated overhead triceps extension 20# kettlebell 3 sets 11 reps (dropped to 15# last 3 reps to finish)

side lunge rt/lft 20# kettlebell 10 reps 3 sets

Single arm bench press rt/lft 15# db 10 reps 3 sets

Pull over to sit up on step 15# dumbbell 9 reps 3 sets

Carolyn, nice work on RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets and no finishers. I guess it is age because I really do not like much of anything that requires me repeatedly getting down on the floor and back up. I sit all of the dishes that go in the lower cabinet on the counter above it and put them away all at once so I don't have to get up and down that many times.

Judy, nice work on the 45 minutes of yin yoga after work Sunday, Peloton workout yesterday and 20 minute row and 30 minute restorative yoga today. My back is doing better today.

I had great intentions of posting yesterday and then totally forgot! Yesterday I did a KPC workout I put together with the low impact drills, combos and core. I hadn't done that one in a long time. This morning I did Boss Bands and Loops Metabolic. It both moved fast and lasted forever. It used the green loop and band and 10-15 lb weights. And contained gems like "we're almost half way done/about half way" in the same sentence. No where in my world do those things equate. Especially 30 minutes into a 57 minute workout. :p

Carolyn great job with RWH Low Impact HiiT Two and RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders.

Diane Sue nice job with CDorner Step # 332 (halloween) Fast Basic step + abs standing, Raw Strength Moves Total Body and the mobility workouts.

Judy great job with the Peloton ride and yoga workouts. Tux has made himself quite at home in the house while at the same time not endearing himself a bit with the other cats. And while the vet says he's two, he plays like a kitten, but a 10 lb kitten with far more strength for moving and knocking over things!

Hi Valerie I hope things are continuing to progress well for you.

This morning I did JS Stride and Step for 30 minutes and 189 calories burned. My average heart rate was 126 and maximum heart rate was 145.

Judy, nice job this week with 45 minutes of Yin Yoga, 45 minute Peloton ride, 20 minutes of Rowing, and 30 minutes of Restorative Yoga.

Diane Sue, nice job with Raw Strength Moves Total Body, and CDorner Mobility Challenge.

Cathy, great job with the KPC workout that you put together yesterday and Boss Bands and Loops Metabolic today.

Waving hello to Valerie. Have a great day everyone.

Today I did CDorner Cardio Mash Up no equipment, 47 minutes, 250 calories, heart rate 135/168, 4,225 steps. I finished off with Day 25 mobility challenge Full Body Mobility Flow, 17 minutes, 36 calories. Total time was 64 minutes, 286 calories. I am really liking some of these mobility workouts. Chris has quite a variety in them and the outdoor scenery she is in is pleasant. I think some are filmed outside her home, some at her in-laws, and even one was at a farm of sorts with corn stalks and flower crops growing in the background.

Cathy, nice work on KPC workout yesterday and Boss Bands and Loops Metabolic workout. Was that Metabolic workout a live workout? The phrase halfway done sounds like something you would say if you were making someone really uncomfortable by some torture. Better when they say almost done.

Carolyn, nice work on Step and Stride today.

Today I did a 45 minute Peloton ride and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights.

Diane Sue-Great job with Raw Strength Moves Total Body, CDorner Cardio Mash Up no equipment, and the mobility challenge. I'm glad your back is feeling better.

Cathy-Great job with the KPC workout and Boss Bands and Loops Metabolic. Tux sounds like a cutie! Shadow is our 9 lb "kitten" even though she's 10 years old. She plays like a kitten and loves to knock things off of tables and shelves.

Carolyn-Great job with JS Stride and Step.

Hi to Valerie

checking in having issues with my computer but slowly getting better. its hard to sit on my desk chair so I dont do it often. this was a BFD surgery. in 2 weeks I should be settling down some, but it turns out I cant take any pain meds unless you could tylenol useful. I dont. even without plain meds the bathroom is a challenge due to no appetite and no activity. regardless I sulll get thru this.
I havent read this thread but will later. thank you all for acknowledging I am still around, just incapacitated for the moment.

No workout as I shopped today. My sister is at my parents.I'm going down there tomorrow but I'll get a workout in first. I really like the background for the new workouts. I could do without the buildings, but I love the fall colors. I like that the total body workout uses just the plates for some exercises. Nice variety. And I think that leg workout really will be killer!

Carolyn great job with JS Stride and Step.

Diane Sue nice job with CDorner Cardio Mash Up no equipment, and the mobility workout.

Judy great job with the Peloton ride and arm workout.

Valerie thanks for the update. That's really lousy that you can't take the pain meds. Hopefully things improve at a good pace.

This morning I did RWH Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets and no finishers. That was 30 minutes and 122 calories burned. Average heart rate was 112 and maximum heart rate was 137. It certainly felt like more effort than that!

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Cardio Mash Up and day 25 mobility challenge.

Judy nice job with your Peloton ride and Arms& Light Weights.

Valerie, I’m sorry that you can’t take the pain medication. Thanks for checking in and keeping us updated.

Cathy, that’s great that you will see your sister at your parents place. Hopefully she won’t try to convert you to using ChatGPT!

Have a good day everyone.

Today I did STS 2.0 Supersets Total Body premix Upper and calves, 49 minutes, 122 calories, heart rate 95/121. I upped some of the weights from what I previously have been doing. I then did Raw Stretch 20 minutes, 31 calories. I did not do the 30 day mobility today as it is lower body and I will do it tomorrow when I do lower body. Total time was 69 minutes, 153 calories.

Judy, nice work on the 45 minute Peloton ride and 10 minutes of arms and light weights.

Valerie, I am so sorry that you can't take the pain meds. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully soon you will be feeling much better.

Cathy, I saw the background and liked the colorfulness, but like you could have done without the buildings. I will probably get the workouts eventually. That leg workout looks awfully fast paced and tough. I like that she blends some core work in. Hope it is not high rep stuff though. Cathe does a good job of coming up with new ways of doing workouts. Enjoy your visit with your sister and parents.

Carolyn, nice work on RWH Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets and no finishers.

Today I did RWH Legs for 41 minutes and 243 calories burned. My average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 152. This is the one that uses contrast training with cardio moves that mimic the strength training exercises.

Diane Sue, great job with STS Supersets Total Body, upper and calves premix, and Raw stretch.

Hello to Judy, Cathy, and Valerie. Have a good day everyone.
