Good morning,

It's been raining hard all night, I hope flooding is minimal. We are lucky where I am in the city, it's the higher land. We don't even need sump pumps here. Class yesterday was fun, I brought Kylee instead of Keegan, and she loved it.

We went to dinner last night for John's birthday which is Tuesday. I will be gone ( in DC). There is this steak and seafood place about 3 blocks from our house, we walked to it, ( brrrr...cold!)...it was nice.
Hope to get a workout in this morning, and lots of HouseMax to do, along with making the dog's food.
Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did BarreAmped Bootcamp (73 min.). A very good workout, even with 3 lb. weights for my arms. Suzanne Bowen is a very good instructor and gives a lot of direction to how a move is done and how it feels. The mat work was the toughest portion for me, in part because you can't really see the moves when you are in a plank, but also the move from downward dog to upward dog is tough, as are the side planks, although these are easier when you can lean on your forearm instead of your hand as she does.

I went to see Gone Girl yesterday. It's really well done and if you enjoyed the book, you will enjoy seeing it come to life in film. Fincher's pacing makes even this long film seem to go by fast, and the casting is pitch perfect. Ben Affleck is really good in this--not entirely likeable and enough of a jerk that you don't completely sympathize with him, even when you know he's getting screwed over. I don't know if you remember the actress playing Amy. The last time I saw her was in Keira Knightly's version of Pride and Prejudice, where she played the serenely beautiful older sister Jane. As Amy, she gets to do a lot more as an actress, and she really is ethereally beautiful and perfect for the part. She could fool anyone into thinking she was angelic. It was pouring rain yesterday afternoon, so it was a good day to go to a matinee. DH came home with a lot of calves, Herefords and Angus. Really cute. I'm off to see the Skeleton Twins this afternoon.

Deb, don't forget to watch the Good Wife tonight. Don't worry, Max knows I think he's the best dog in the whole world. (I tell him that and he always looks at me as if he knows what I'm saying.)

Thanks for the Bowen suggestion, Lori. I now have my workouts for Sundays for quite awhile.

How's the heat wave treating you, Josie?

Hi to Valerie and Lori.

Good afternoon ladies!

Beautiful here today. Yesterday we had tons of rain too. Friday my DS stayed over so Saturday morning I ended up doing Travel Fit and then a 30 minute band workout from Youtube. Today was Cathe's Live spin class and chester and I walked for just over 3 miles. We both enjoyed the weather.

Lynda...glad you like Suzanne! I usually use 3 or 4lbs when doing her workouts. Funny how such little weight can work you. I went to see The Maze Runner and enjoyed it. I read the books so wanted to see how the movie was. I can't wait to see Gone Girl. I loved the book and like you said the actors are perfect for their roles.

Deb....hope dinner was great! I did not know the Liam Neeson movie was from a book. i'll have to look them up.

Valerie...i can't imagine being in -20 degree weather. Ouch! Here in New England it has dropped to -5 at times and sometimes the wind chill will be slighly lower and that is painful enough to me.

Have a great afternoon all!

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Lori, -20 ( not counting wind chill) is so cold you really can't do anything. you need such a pile of clothing on it's hard to move, and then if you get moving ( we were xc skiing) you get warm but you don't want to sweat because when you stop, you are freezing in about 30 seconds. plus that's cold enough where you worry about your car, and you do NOT want to get stuck somewhere. there are probably ways to manage better but we haven't been it enough to figure them out. Actually when I lived inn wisc9onsin it was not that unusual to get into -20 and even lower. I think climate change is making that less of an issue these days because weather patterns seem to have changed.

Did Cardio supersets yesterday, and Core 2 yesterday. I have nopt been doing enough of these but I did get thru it with the same weights and did all the pushups. this morning we did a 25 mile bike ride. we are going on another trip this week and are heading to western Idaho and Glacier NP, assuming the weather holds. a road ride we want to do ....the Coeur d'Alene trail. and the season is winding down. so will be gone about a week again. plan to leave wed so I'll be around for a couple days yet.

Lynda, good to know that's a worthwhile movie. what was the Iran hostage movie?? Drawing a total blank right now. .

Good morning,

Sunday night syndrome and now I am exhausted.

Lynda, did you sign up for the streaming Suzanne Bowen workouts? On her site it says if you sign up for 6 months you get one free. I didn't watch The Good Wife last night, could not stay up that late! I hope it is on the CBS site today, and I can catch it before I go to the airport. My flight is at 5:30. I'm leaving work at noon to come home and pack etc.

Lori, dinner was good, the best was the chopped Salad. I could go there just for that. I am guessing you signed up for the streaming for Suzanne Bowen?

Valerie, we get below zero weather here, usually in January, but the wind chill factor dips below zero frequently. Have a safe fun trip.

Hi to Judy & Josie,

I will be back on Thursday night. I'm bringing the iPad, but will need to see if they have wifi in the rooms or not. Hopefully they do and I can check in.
Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Petra Kolber's Bootcamp Booty (63:00).

Valerie, that was Argo, directed by Affleck. The title was the phony sci-fi flick they were supposedly going to film in Iran. I bet that will be a beautiful trip you are taking.

Deb, nah, I'm not interested in streaming. I like to get up, grab a dvd, pop it in and work out. I do have a weekly plan of sorts, but I'm so thoughtless, I seldom even do all the premixes. On the back of Bowen's dvds, she says you get one month free streaming, and maybe I will take a look-see about that, but cannot imagine doing 6 mos. TGW was really good last night. Have a good trip! Ina Garten has a recipe for chopped salad in her Back to Basics cookbook that is excellent.

Lori, I am actually a bit sore from the Bowen workout yesterday, which surprised me. Especially in my hips and shoulders. Great--maybe a sign of possible good results if I keep doing her workouts.

The Skeleton Twins was okay. Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader are the twins, and they are both very self-destructive, but manage to save each other finally. I just didn't buy the sketchy back story for their existential problems. They definitely have some good moments, but more in the SNL vein than somber-sob. If you want serious existential problems that make good sense, watch Bergman's Persona or Herzog's Stroszek.

So far, I am not liking what I'm seeing of Cathe's new workouts. TOO MUCH JUMPING!!!!

Hi,

I am home to pack...leaving for the airport in about an hour and a half.

Lynda, I watched TGW on my desktop PC on CBS. It was a good episode. It is so annoying that you can watch the full episodes on line on a desktop PC but not on the iPad, even though I have the CBS app which is supposed to allow you to watch. Apple ( no offence to your son!) has some problems with their software. Just look at the IOS 8 situation.

Hope to check in while I am away, I found out that the Holiday Inn in DC has free wifi in the rooms, but get this, you have to pay for it each day at the Ritz! Unbelievable.

Take care,

Deb, I read a hilarious article about hotels monitoring the mini frig and room snacks electronically. if you merely pick up something to look at the package or to move it (like you wanted to put your own water bottle in the frig) you'll be charged for the item. if it moves, it's counted, and it's up to you to notice it on the bill and complain. Hotels have learned something from airlines! I can't imagine any place not having free WiFi these days. Have a good trip.

Lynda, thanks Argo!! I really loved that movie.

We did a hike today. a short one only 3 hours RT. will go to yoga tomorrow and then be ready to leave on our next short trip wed am . we are hoping for great fall colors and right now the weather sounds pleasant. Gotta grab it while we can.

Judy, I had problems with the web site today so got your message that you sent me the disk but I couldn't answer. Thank you!. Let me know if you want either Tabatacize or Intensity. If you don't want them, then anyone else? I have only looked at them once, not what I want to do.
Too frantic, too much jumping for me. Sounds like the new series will be the same way.....

Good evening ladies!

I was off today so slept in. I have quite a few vacation days to use up before the end of the year. Didn't really do much other than errands and house max. Took chester for a nice long walk. Another beautiful day here in New England.

Deb...yes I signed on to SB's streaming and I am into my second month now. I love her workouts. You really feel the burn and she is a great instructor. Have a good trip! Funny that the wifi is free in the cheaper hotel.

Lynda...yup she gets you deep into those muscles. I have not done the plank work in the bootcamp dvd. I'll try it on Saturday. I am actually loving what I see with Cathe's new workouts, however, they do look tough so I may be eating my words.

Valerie...have a great trip! Can't wait to hear all about it.

We leave for Navarre, Florida on Sunday to visit my inlaws. It is a beautiful part of Florida and we are looking forward to it.

Hi to Josie and Judy!

Valerie- I have Tabatacize and I preordered the new series so I probably don't need any more. It does look like the new series is going to be pretty intense but I think they will be shorter workouts and probably lots of premixes too.

Good morning from tenation's capital!

The flight was a little rocky, they told us ahead of time that it would be rough and that they would not be turning the seatbelt sign off. Ugh...my stomach was doing flips. I was a little scared too. Turbulence didn't used to bother me that much, but it does for some reason now. I think it's all those stories about lost planes etc. that you are imersed in when they happen. Meeting for breakast at 7:15 then an all day meeting that starts at 8:30.

Have a good week!

Hi Ladies,

I have been in Palm Springs since Sunday. My DB was in the hospital since September 30th, he checked himself in because he had a feeling that he was going to get a seizure and sure enough as soon as he was admitted he had several in a row and continued to have them through out the week and the Dr.'s had to adjust his medication. This is caused by a lesion in his brain which has not grown according to the MRI' s and scans. I will be here until Friday.

Deb and Valerie, have a good trip.

Hi to the rest of the Ladies, I will check in later.

Josie

good morning ... we were packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow but suddenly our heater developed a gas leak. not sure if it's fixable on this short of notice. we'll see. it was destined to be a short trip since it looks like weather may change over the weekend. neither hiking nor riding is too good in cold rain, but we've wanted to do this ride all season.

Josie, best of luck to your brother. my sister has a seizure disorder so I know how frustrating it can be. she is not responding to drugs ...any of them.... anymore, and does not have any options except wearing a helmet and being careful. she can't drive anymore. Hope he gets controlled quickly. it takes a while for the new meds to build up to a therapeutic level.

almost in an accident this morning. someone was driving behind me and jumped across a lane barrier and sped up to to pass on my right while I had my turn signal on to move into the lane legally. very close. it was quite foggy and just lucky I saw her..... Idiot!! I think a crash would have been 100% her fault but still glad to avoid it.

ETA it looks like we'll go. DH found a replacement part and put it in so all is working again. pizza is baking and I have only the pizza after it cools!

Deb turbulence is always upsetting and worrisome. I used to fly a lot of small planes and it is worse in those. but anything out of the ordinary is distressing.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain bis and tris (45:34).

Deb, I don't blame you one bit. I would be scared too. I hope your return flight is smooth. I don't know if Apple has any control over free apps other than to make them available. I will ask DS. By the way, you asked about the Liam Neeson film, A Walk Among the Tombstones. It sounds gruesomely violent, but it did get a positive review from EW. I haven't read the books, so I don't know the character.

Sorry to hear about your brother, Josie. How did he get a lesion on his brain, or has it always been there?

Lori, where is Navarre in Florida? I guess I could look it up. SB's streaming is probably perfect for you since you like to put together bits and pieces of workouts. Wow, if you haven't done that core section, try it. It's not easy.

Hi to Valerie and Judy. (I sold Tabatacize on Amazon. No way I was going to do that one.)

Good evening ladies!

All this talk on these forums about Plyo made me want to do Plyo Legs from STS. Not sure which disc I did other than it was the last Plyo of the four.

Josie...so sorry to hear about your DB. Glad he knew to get to the hospital and then to have a few while there is unbelievable. My prayers are with you and him.

Deb...I would have a heart attack if I was on that plane. I get motion sickness so easily plus I get anxious about it which makes it worse. I am sure I would have lost it all over the place regardless of the meds I take. Hoping your return is smoother. I am dreading flying on Sunday. We have to take connecting flights which makes it worse for me. No direct to Navarre.

Lynda...Navarre is about an hour from Pensacola. It is an absolutely beautiful area. White sandy beaches. We love it and would love to live there. Hurricane insurance is huge though. They are in a part of Florida that is an hour behind us. Never knew any part of Florida was in a different time zone than us until I met my DH.

Valerie...great that your DH was able to fix your heater so quickly. Wow close call with that other car. Someone was looking out for you. Have a great trip!

Hi to Josie!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did Core Max, Medicine Ball Abs and a segment of Ab Hits. I've been taking a break from weights since last week.
I hurt my low back doing dead lifts and decided to take a few days off. It's feeling much better now so I'll probably start back up, carefully, Thursday or Friday. This weekend I picked up my MacBook and have been getting it set up use for my workouts. I love it! I have the 13 inch with retina display.

Josie-I'm so sorry about your brother. I hope he will be ok. I'm keeping both of you in my prayers.

Deb-I would have been scared too. I hope your return flight is better.

Valerie-Have a good trip!

Good morning,

Unbelievable, I am getting a UTI and I am ofcourse, NOT HOME!! why does this happen? John says it is brought on by stress. I believe that. Yesterday was very stressful, I had to sit on a panel in an auditorium of 300 people ( collegues), not to mention the rocky flight the day before. I changed my reservation to today. I am coming home early...calling my DR when his office opens to hopefully get some meds called in to a CVS that is right near here.

Josie, keeing your brother in my thoughts, hope ie is better soon. Lucky that he didn't waste time and got to the hospital quickly.

Valerie, have a great trip. Nice that your DH was able to fix the issue so you didn't have to cancel.

Lynda, it seems like the app is now working, but CBS is very slow in posting the current episode. right now they have 1 &2 posted only. Either way, I will get to watch it, and I am HAPPY about that :). I also sold Tabatacize...way too much impact for me. I think the new workouts do have some higher impact workouts, but the names can be deciving too, since all of them have HIIT in the titles At least I hope that's the case. John saw the trailer og the film ( A Wakl Amoung the Tombstones) and said the same thing. He thought it looked a lot more violent than the book was. The series is about Matt Scudder and is excellent. I don't know how they pick which book to do the movie about...the story has a lot of important back story that makes the series. It seems like it would not have the same impact without it.

Lori, do you have the Body Beast workouts? I saw an infomercial on them and they look interesting..all good old fashioned weight work. I think there is a thread on them here in the Open forum I might go over and see what is being said. When are you going to Florida?

Judy, be very careful doing deadlifts! It was doing deadlifts that caused my ruptured disk. Not good. Great that you got the Mac and can do the workouts using that!

Hopefully the next time I post I will be home, and taking safe meds ( antibiotics terryfy me after the C-Diff issue I had in December)...

Take care,

Deb-I'm sorry about the UTI :( It's good that you are going home early. I hope you get some good meds and recover quickly.
I'm going to really watch it with deadlifts now. I usually don't have any problem when I do them in the Cathe workouts, it's when I go to the gym and then try a heavier weight than what I am used to. I think I was stressed out and pushing myself a little too hard when I was going to the gym last month. I definitely won't be doing deadlifts at the gym anymore.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Dancin' Abs (58:00). Yesterday afternoon I took Max for a 3 mile walk and the foliage was so wonderful.

Oh, Deb, that is so awful! I really hope you don't go through what you did the last time you had a UTI. I know about the titles for Cathe's new dvds. I did not buy all of them, but it looks like even some of the weight workouts have a lot of impact. Sigh! If I hate them, I at least have individual cases for them and will promptly sell them on Amazon. I will look up the Scudder titles, although right now I have a lot of books on my Ipad. I am especially delighted with Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend and will probably read the next two about this friendship between two women.

Judy, that's too bad about your back. I have never had issues with deadlifts and was doing 80 lbs. on my barbell when I did STS. I wonder if it's because I am short and don't have that far to go down. Probably a ridiculous notion! But the taller you are the more you lean over.. ...

Lori, I did look up Navarre, and it looks really beautiful. I would be afraid to retire in Florida with all the hurricanes. Sandy and Irene were bad enough for me.

Valerie, hope your vacation goes well and you get to see some foliage.

Hi to Josie!
