Good morning,

A better day yesterday. I read something (People's Pharmacy column in the newspaper) where someone said that cinnamon and honey helped their reflux. I had a couple of cups of tea with that and it really settled down. Not sure what makes it work, and I don't care! I hope this lasts.

Diane Sue, wow 80 on Halloween! That is amazing. Most years here the kids have to wear coats over their costumes...and it usually is raining too. Good workouts, be careful not to jump back in too fast and over do it!

Valerie, I can see why you would want to go where you could take the camper. That is why I never minded visiting John's parents in California...we had our own room and own bathroom. They were so flexible about eating...we could shop and make anything we wanted. I never felt like we had to be around them all the time either. We came and went as we pleased and they encouraged it. When you say that the pics go into zip files, do you save them all to one file and then it is a zip file? Each needs to be saved individually. We always hide our garage door openers in the cars where they can't be seen from outside, but if someone is determined to go into your house, they will find a way.

A workout, then HouseMax for me....as much as can be done...we need to get the furniture back into the living room....then start packing up the kitchen. That room is next after the foyer and upstairs hall are completed.

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Low Impact Circuit (52 min.). Felt good after so many days of not exercising. I did get back on Friday, about noon, but then Saturday is Housemax, so I basically had 3 days off from exercising. We did do some walking in Great Barrington and Hudson, but it was snowing on Thursday and really raw and cold.

I read last week's posts. A lot of sensitive tummies and bowels.

Deb, I hope the cinnamon and honey work for you and you also get some helpful attention from your doctor this week.

Valerie, that sounds like smart sleuthing on your part.

Diane Sue, that biopsy sounds awful and painful. When will you find out the results?

Lori, I like a good steak too! Especially Kim's filets and my marinade.

I went to see 4 films in Chatham: an old film by Louis Malle that had been remastered and restored--Elevator to the Gallows. A very good film noir with a soundtrack by Miles Davis. That was Tuesday afternoon. In the evening we saw I, Daniel Blake dir. Kenneth Loach. It won the Palm D'Or at Cannes, but I needed subtitles even though it was an English film. The accent was Newcastle working class, and I missed a lot of the dialogue. Loach is definitely tearing into the governmental bureaucracy and its inability to be responsive to people who are having hard times. Very sad film. Then on Wednesday, an Iranian film, The Salesman, by the director of A Separation. It was definitely the best of the 4 films I saw and multi-layered in its handling of cultural conflicts between the old order and the new. Finally, on Thursday night we saw Pedro Almodovar's Julieta. My least favorite. I was just irritated with the characters--all of them. It was supposed to be based on Alice Munro's short stories in Runaway, which I taught a couple times in Freshman English, but it really didn't have much relation to those stories.

According to Kim, Max was depressed and sulky the whole time I was away. Nice to return to a thrilled dog and happy husband--I'm cooking again!

This morning I did Low Impact Sweat workout 2 timesaver no swinging weights tough. 28 minutes, 190 calories. I then did Barre Amped Advanced Active stretch, 28 minutes, 60 calories. 250 calories total 56 minutes.

Deb, I sprinkle cinnamon, half a lemon squeezed in, ginger, and turmeric, mixed with my greens powder and collagen powder every morning. I have read so much good about cinnamon. I used to put the collagen in my coffee in the mornings but this Wow brand has lemon flavoring in it.
I am glad that that seemed to help you. I am trying to be easy on myself. Yesterday was just lower with body weight, 3# ankle weights, and the firewalker loop. No real heart pumping work or upper. I am avoiding too aggressive of work right now but enough to keep the joints from becoming stiff and achy and enough to keep my sanity.

Lynda, I should hear something tomorrow since the procedure was Thursday morning and they had said 24 to 48 hours is what it usually takes. I really do not like it when someone takes music or literature and makes it their own thing. If they are going to borrow it they should keep it right. It does sound like you had an enjoyable visit and I am sure Max and Kim were happy to have you back.

Valerie, we have one of those garage door keypads and have never programmed it. My husband is not fond of the security those give. He wanted to remove it. I kind of wanted it programmed so family could get in if needed. Usually we give them all a key but we have always been going to get all new locks for the house. We can only use the deadbolt on the front door because there is no key for the other lock. When we first moved to Oklahoma and lived in an apartment we were broke into and lost an antique gun and my husbands class ring and wedding ring. The next apartment he put a steel plate in the door frame that was about 1/4 inch thick and screwed in with long screws. The deadbolt was a long one. If someone tried to kick it in they probably would have broke their foot. They broke into the side garage door in the house my son now lives in but something must have scared them off because they kicked in the inside door to the house as well but took nothing. Maybe all of the police stuff hanging around? I think they are much more bold now.

Good afternoon all!

Yesterday I did my rebounding workout I made. I edited the music and wanted to try it out and it was perfect. I followed up with a Leah Sarago download that I recently purchased. I have a few of her downloads that I bought a couple of years ago when I first started with barre. She can be tough but she does voice over and I found them to be really boring. Decided to give her another try since I now know all about editing. She has a new series called Iron Barre and the first download was 3.99 for a 17 minute lower body workout. I bought it and added some great music. Between the rebounder workout and this one I burnt an impressive 427 calories. A lot more than I thought I would and my legs are really feeling the Leah workout today. Taking a rest day today but plan to take GiGi for a walk in a bit.

Welcome back Lynda...those movies sounds really intense. Awwww Max missed you. :)

Deb...really hoping the honey and cinnamon continues to work for you. We do not have an alarm and I always worry about our animals.

Dianne Sue...good you are still easing back into your workouts. Using the ankle weights and firewalker loops can be a great low impact workout. I used ClipGrab to download YouTube videos. The Jumpsport one I downloaded had a series of three workouts that you repeat. I strung them together, edited a bit and added music. This way it now plays as a 26 minute workout instead of restarting the clip or looking for the next section in the series. I love making my own workouts.

Valerie...makes sense they would know all the hiding places. Even scarier that you were home when it happened. Sounds like you had a really nice hike the other day.

Judy...SB has her Gratitude Challenge starting tomorrow. I did not do her last challenge but plan to start with this one. I always enjoy them when I do them.

Have a great afternoon all!

We all think we are original thinkers, but when it comes to hiding things, we apparently do the same things. plus, everyone forgets to lock a door or a window occasionally, and these guys capitalize on it. they go from house to house or car to car until they get lucky. we found another neighbor who saw our thief walking away from here. that is 4 people (besides me) who saw him. the problem is he looked normal, not like a druggie and apparently no one thought he was a threat. Jewelry seems to go first. and if you actually wear it, then you keep it somewhere accessible, not in the freezer or something. I have very little jewelry because of my nickel allergy. used to wear more but usually non metal items. we found out our next door neighbors lost jewelry to a burglary a year or two ago.. their front door was kicked in. great. good to know.

Deb, hope the peoples pharmacy ideas are helpful. DH read something about hibiscus tea for I think blood pressure, and he's tried it but can't stand the taste so not everything works out but worth a try.

I finally got the pics to download as JPEG files and tried to upload them here but they were too big. I will probably use the picture trail site to size them down. I am so awful with pictures!. never works the same way twice. we are taking a break from wall work now that the main section is done.

Nothing like a welcome home from a happy dog!! even our kitty is happy to see us for a few minutes but it's not like the happy dog dance.

we went mt biking this morning for 2 hours. wanted to do a road bike, but DH's bike had a flat tire so we switched so we could catch the early less busy time. the last day trails are open at the tree farm and it was busy busy. never saw so many people there before. walkers, bikes and many horses. very muddy from our record rainfall month.

Lori, thank you for the information. I wrote down clip grab so that I can check it out. I had left Suzanne Bowen's Challenge announcement in my e mail. I know she was offering 1/2 off for a month. If I put my code in from my dvd I could get a free month. It has been tempting. She has so much stuff it is kind of hard to go through and have an idea of what I would want to do.

Valerie, I have some very expensive pieces of jewelry. I really should lock them in the safe but if I wanted to wear them I would likely just forget it rather than go to the hassle of getting it out. I just keep them in their boxes on a shelf. When I take jewelry when we travel I put them in the inside pocket of my purse if not wearing them. I once left a 22 c gold necklace on a nightstand in a hotel. I was devastated when we went back and of course it was gone. My husband likes to buy me nice jewelry. He got me an amethyst and a huge blue topaz in Afghanistan. We had them set at a local jewelers and he had to get me white gold chain to go with the amethyst. The blue topaz was 12oo just to set. They had to have their designer go through a book with me. I am always afraid I am going to lose the stuff when I wear it. I have no idea where you would hide something like that. I have a nice jewelry box that locks. I always thought the idea of locking a jewelry box would be a good reason to steal the whole thing. After this was mentioned I went upstairs and moved my jewelry.
I have to work at locating pictures, sizing and putting them some place like the desktop so I can grab it. I have tried adding pictures with my tablet using Tapatalk and they were huge. I can never manage to send or drop pictures all at once. My husband does it and I can never make it work.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Total Body Compound Weights. It felt pretty good.

Lynda, I know you went to visit a friend, but where was it again? Did you drive or fly? Interesting films...I can just imagine Max's reaction, running all around when you got home. :).

Diane Sue, I hope you get the results today. I am like you...we have a safe but I hate getting into it, so I keep my jewelry in a regular ol' jewelry box on my dresser. Not good I know. But if it was in the safe, I would never wear it. Not that I have that much, just a few nicer things. I do not use Tapatalk, or the Cathe app....I like the regular browser for any internet activity. I also copy and paste pictures I want to upload on the desktop, or I could never find them!

Lori, Amazing what you are able to do with workouts. How is Gigi doing? Getting along better with Nilla?

Valerie, now that your neighbors seem to be more vigilent, and with the gate coming, maybe those people will try another area. yes, Picturetrail is good...once you put them in a file there, you can use the option to upload to a forum...don't remember the actual name they use for that at the moment.

Dr (ENT) appointment this morning....

Take care,

Deb, I am glad you were able to get a workout in. I hope your appointment today is helpful.

Good Morning,
I had a good weekend with family and friends, but no workouts. I started to walk on the treadmill but it bothered my knee and I stopped. I'm not sure what that was but it was better the next day. It might have been the shoes. I have to make sure that my shoes have good support. Today I did a Low Max timesaver premix for 45 minutes. I used one set of risers with no difficulty.

Deb, I use cinnamon and honey for coughing. It definitely helps and allows me to sleep better when I have coughing and allergy issues.

Lynda, welcome back. It's great to be able to spend time with friends.

Lori, I am very impressed with what you are able to do with videos!

Hello to everyone.

Deb good luck with ENT. Hopefully a nothing that has to be checked out only because it was accidentally found.

You were correct a while ago about jury summons. I got my delayed summons. it shows I am in a particular "group" and I need to call the weekend before to know if I need to show up on Monday. for superior court, not close. nice that I don't have to automatically show up just to be dismissed after making the drive. DH just had to show up and was dismissed a few hours later. different level court.

Carolyn that was smart to back off. we sometimes create our own problems when we push ahead even if it hurts.

so I am now struggling to downsize the pictures with picture trail. I did it once before, those pics are still there but I don't see how to downsize these. when I transfer them, a command appears saying "remove ". the previous pics came from a different camera, these are from the phone. Lori I need 10% of your computer skills.

Getting snow tires mounted today and maybe buying a replacement camera for the stolen one. I probably would not have replaced it but turns out it was fairly old, pre- windows 7. compatibility went to Win XP.

I think that's why jewelry is so often a target... women keep it where it's accessible. If it's under lock and key, or in some obscure place, you won't bother to wear it. my mother gave me an expensive necklace that was hers. I put in the safe deposit box. nothing I'd ever wear. metal necklaces used to turn the sides of my neck gray- blackish so I could only wear things over blouses. mostly, I don't bother or wear non metallic beads.

some kind of workout not sure what now. probably this afternoon after shopping.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Cardio Boxing with Stability Ball Abs (47:39). I did this one awhile ago and forgot how much I liked it. The abs are different and fun.

Deb, I hope your ENT appt is helpful. My friend lives in Chatham NY but not all the time (she also has a condo in NYC). It's about 75 min. away by car. It would be a pretty drive, but the wind has blown a lot of the leaves off the trees. The Columbia County Film Festival is an annual event.

Diane Sue, Kim gives me jewelry as well, so I have some very nice pieces. It's all insured now, but I would miss the pieces that have sentimental value--anniversaries, Christmas, my mom. I try to wear my jewelry and not let it just sit looking pretty in a box.

Valerie, tomorrow is snow tire day for me as well. It did snow on Thursday, but everything melted by the time I drove back on Friday. My friend and I did see a car that had slid off the road when we were on the road on Thursday. The weather was tricky--hovering in the low 30s, so sometimes it was sleeting, sometimes snowing, and a lot of changes in elevation on the roads so you never knew if it would be slippery.

Lori, Max misses me because I am Mother Treatsa and I give him his kibble ON TIME. Kim is stingier with treats and gives him his kibble when he gets to it. I have no illusions. Max would go stir-crazy if I were his principal companion. He is outside with Kim most of the time, or in a truck sightseeing.

Carolyn, I loved Low Max a lot--especially the opening song Holiday from Madonna. I did that one so many times I finally did get tired of it.

Good evening ladies!

This morning was the start of SB gratitude challenge. The workout was a cardio strengh and only 20 minutes long so I added in her bis and tris. This evening I did a heavy rope workout. My legs are still feeling the Leah workout from Saturday.

I may start Jessica Smith's My Fitness Pal challenge this week along with SB. Jessica's started today and it is only a one week challenge. I think they are new workouts she posted on Youtube just for this challenge. I could be wrong here.

I love editing videos and customizing them to my liking. I really get so much satisfaction out of doing a workout customized for me. My boss has discovered my editing skills and asked me to be the editor of our training videos we plan to produce. Will be lot's of fun.

Valerie..I try and be creative about my hiding places but know I am just like everyone else. When I send my pictures from my phone to my computer it always ask what size. I always chose small when I know I am uploading to these forums.

Lynda...Been a while since I have done that workout but remember liking it. Mother Treatsa!!! Lol! Is it really snow tire season already?

Carolyn...glad your knee is better...earlier this year I had starting running on my tread mill and my knee really started to hurt out of nowhere and bothered me for a while. I no longer run and I am ok with it.

Diane Sue..like you I always had my jewelry easily accessible. After my neighbors robbery I now hide it all. I do not use taptalk for Cathe live. Do you get your results today?

Deb...fingers crossed for your appt. today and hope all goes well. GiGi and Nilla have their moments. We have learned to keep them apart when she (GiGi) is very excitable. When we get home from work she is a looney toon! This is when we really need to keep them separated. Once she calms down then they are more manageable together. Gigi is better with Nilla but not enough that we would leave them alone together. That will take a while.

Have a great night all!

Today I did Kelly Coffey Split Sessions lower body, 28 minutes, 150 calories. I then did Ice Boot Camp Circuit no upper mix, 35 minutes, 229 calories. I finished off with Barre Amped lower body stretch, 19 minutes. Total time was 82 minutes, 419 calories. The good news is that there was no cancer found in the lymph nodes. I feel pretty good and the lymph nodes seem like they are resolving a bit. My daughter came over and visited today till she had to go pick up my grandson from school. I then ran out to Walmart and came back to finish up laundry and house work. So I am just getting here.

Carolyn, I am very careful of what shoes I wear. I have some low boots with cut outs and zippers that I wore to church Sunday and my feet and knee hurt by the time I got in the car. I was not even standing that much. They were off my feet as soon as I went in the house. I have not done Low Max in a very long time.

Valerie, some of the people were talking about federal court when I was doing jury duty. I guess they pay a lot more. I would hate to have to drive very far for jury duty. Maybe you will be dismissed quickly. It seems some people do not mind doing it though. There was one woman in a wheel chair that I think they kept. She seemed to be glad to be doing it. I would be no help with the pictures. I think I used a windows program to shrink them and then I have to go find them so I can move them. My camera and phone load them differently.

Lynda, I do wear my nice jewelry when we go out somewhere. Otherwise it is just earrings most of the time. I believe we have the jewelry insured, but like you I would miss the sentimental pieces. He worked at a jewelry store once off duty and bought me an aquamarine and diamond necklace and had hid it in a pot on the stove. It was kind of funny, because he kept watching for me to check the pot to see why it was there. I spoil Gertie and she eats on time, but she goes and sits by the kitchen cookie jar every time my husband walks in the kitchen. She gets in her position to wait. I don't do that as much. I try not to give her too many treats. I keep a few upstairs because our routine is when I go to workout she comes up and gets 1 cookie. My husband gives her too much food when he feeds her.

Speaking of Gertie, my daughter did not close the gate when she came in. I let Gertie out without looking and she kept barking and coming back to the door. Finally I looked and the gate was open. I think she was letting me know the gate was open. I am glad she has no interest in taking off. Mudd would have been off exploring the neighborhood till she lost sight of me for too long.

Lori, I bet it will be fun to edit the training videos. That is another nice compliment from your boss:) I have been thinking about another place to hide the expensive pieces. I have a hanging rack of costume jewelry just sitting out in my workout room. If I am lucky they would figure out that that is all that I have. Gertie still has those time where she gets a bit crazy. I was working out this morning and she suddenly jumped up and was all excited. I backed up and stepped on her just as she tried to stick her head between my legs with a rubber ring in her mouth. Sometimes I have no clue what prompts the sudden craziness. Both of my dogs have went crazy when I use the heavy bag. I always thought that Mudd thought it was a person or something because she would go after it too.

Good morning,

The appointment went ok...nothing to worry about according to the DR. He said it looks like a benign cyst. He wants me to go back in 3 months just to make sure it has not changed. He said it could just go away on its own.

Carolyn, glad your knee feels better and it was just a temporary thing,

Valerie, that change in jury duty practice was one of the smartest things they ever did. What a colossal waste of peoples time, making them go in every day to sit there and see if they would be needed. I hope you find out how to do the pictures with picturetrail. If that camera was that old, I wonder it the thief would even be able to sell it. Wouldn't that be a kick?

Lynda, love the "Mother Treatsa" moniker!

Lori, that's great that your boss has asked you to edit the training videos! All of this adds to making you even more useful, which is a good thing. He needs to give you a raise! It sounds like you have figured out the solution to getting through Gigi's puppy behavior with Nilla....that's great. I bet eventually it won't be such a big thing for Gigi, and having Nilla around will be just normal for her.

Diane Sue, that's great news!! :). Such a smart girl that Gertie, she was definitely telling you something was wrong!

Take care,

Deb, we didn't use the camera for much. used it to record things like home inventory. it probably wasn't worth much but it will cost to replace it. mostly I use the iphone now. I had no idea camera was in the camper. DH also had a telephoto lens for his larger camera out there. now gone. and 4 cans of bear spray. the bear spray was outdated but still usable. anyway, I can replace the camera for about 100-$125 dollars if I want . I never learned to use the big SLR. I'm a point and click photographer.

the wall pics I took with the iphone, DH downloaded to his computer and emailed to me. I didn't know he had a size option. so the pics are in pic folder on my hard drive, jpeg format. yesterday downloaded a photoeditor program from picture trails. not clear to me how to size them. it says they are too big but doesn't tell me what size is OK.

I never got picked for jury duty except once long ago that I avoided because my parents were coming to visit. this was maybe 1975.
about 15 miles to the courthouse but would rather not waste the day if I don't need to.

DH and I crossed paths with another crook yesterday. there's a wide open section along our road where houses are set back from the intersection. one is vacant and for sale. this, I now see ... is a favorite parking spot for crooks to sit. a beat up car parked there. windows were fogged up, someone in it, and lots of stuff piled up inside. we drove by him but we u- turned. as soon as we did, he drove up the hill . we followed him at distance to get the plate#. he drove very fast /slowly but didn't stop, did the circuit of our roads, and left. so our good deed for the day. we would never do something stupid but these folks seem to know when they've been "made".

we did a lot of walking and shopping yesterday, tires swapped out. later I did 20 on the elliptical and a core workout. 35 minutes all together. not a hard day.

Today I did the Cathe Live Legs on Fire from last Thursday. All I can say is they certainly are! Everything was burning.

I am not very good with our camera. My husband has 2 nice cameras but I have never been very interested in them. I must admit that there are times that I want more than the photos on my phone.

Valerie, great job with the neighborhood watch. It makes a difference when people know that someone is watching.

Lori congratulations on having your talents recognized at work. It never occurred to me that you can do so much with YouTube videos.

Greetings to everyone.

This morning I did Rock'm Sock'm main and blizzard blast, 62 minutes,480 calories. I followed this with Kelly Coffey Athletic Conditioning Volume 2 workout 2 core/flexibility, 27 minutes, 70 calories. Total time was 88 minutes and calories burned 550. I need to go out and pick up journal and some protein powder so that I can make my husband some lemon protein bars. I also need to vacuum. I have not done that part of house cleaning for awhile because I did not want to drag the heavy Kirby up and down the stairs. I am working on pulling things off of my shelving in my workout room so we can move things around. It is a good opportunity to dust the shelves and books and contents well and organize a bit.

Deb, I am glad that the cyst is not serious. That is good news. I don't know what is with me and cysts. I have had a ganglion cyst on my knee an a bakers cyst that was probably due to the torn meniscus. They did surgery on the earlier one but I don't think they did anything with the bakers cyst. I think they heal on their own. I have to have the nodule on my thyroid monitored but t is small. Gertie is such a good dog. I am so proud of her :)

Valerie, those lenses can be a very costly part of the camera body. Technology is so frustrating They do not make everything universal anymore so there I always learning. Sometimes once I figure out something I take notes. I know if I do it again it will probably be awhile and I will forget what all I had to do to get it to work. Maybe after you get done scaring those crooks off word will get out. Hopefully you neighbors do not become complacent.

Carolyn, just the title of that workout and knowing Cathe, I can imagine it is a real burner.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Compound Giant Sets (42 min.) and I added on some rows for my back with heavier weights because she really doesn't do much back work on this one.

Lori, yes, it's definitely snow tire season. It was only in the 20s this morning and now it's warming up, but we did get snow last Thursday. I had them done this afternoon and now I'm ready. That is nice your boss recognizes how multi-talented you are. Deb is right--you should ask for a raise.

Deb, good news on your checkup. Did he offer any more insights about your acid reflux, or are you just staying on the medication he prescribed?

Carolyn, I was thinking of doing that leg workout on Sunday, but decided to do something longer. How would you rate it in terms of fun, impact, degree of difficulty?

Valerie, it does sound like you can scare off potential burglars just by noticing them cruising around. Good for you!

Diane Sue, Gertie sounds so smart. You seem to be back to your long workouts again.

Hi to Josie, Judy, and Caitlin!

Lynda, I really liked Legs on Fire. It was not difficult because the moves were all familiar, but she did move quickly between exercises. Cathe uses 12 and 15 pound dumbbells and 40 pound barbell for squats and deadlifts. She includes disc lunges on all sides. She repeats the groups of exercises and adds in cardio like moves on the mat (power turning squats are an example). There are a few burpees and ends with ball work for inner and outer thighs. Every part of the leg is thoroughly worked by the end.
