Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/22/2023

Good morning. I did my weekly yoga/mobility practice this morning. Apparently the “old guys” had a nice outing. They’ve been doing things together for years now, but the group is slowly dwindling.

Diane Sue, great job with KCM’s Super Sculpt and CDorner Mobility challenge.

Hello to everyone who comes later and have a wonderful day.

No workouts this weekend. Just day 6 and 7 of the mobility stretch challenge. My grandson went home this afternoon. We enjoyed spending time with him.

Realized last night that I'd forgotten to post. Yesterday I did STS 2 Lower Body 2, and in my infinite wisdom put LIVE Cardio Kickboxing and Core on my rotation for today. Unlike some of the workouts that include the word kick, but have little this one had quite a bit, and my hamstrings were questioning why I hated them. LOL I did really like the workout though and the core was mini ball and I actually liked it better than the mini ball core in STS 2. If there was a way to use LIVE workouts in the blender I'd be mixing the two, but sadly there isn't. I brought Tux in last night because the temp was going down around freezing. There won't be another night below freezing until a week from today. Once I realized the trick to get him to settle down was turning off the light, which I don't need for my devices, he settled right down and there were no problems. He still hasn't used the litter box, but then the time period he was in he wouldn't likely have gone anyway. I really don't want to be stuck in this room every night, but not sure if I want him shut in while I'm downstairs because if something happened DH isn't going to deal with it. He wants him in, but he won't help in anyway. Insert huge eye roll. I also don't want to start anything, when I'll be gone Wednesday night. We have 3 nights coming up when we aren't even going below 60! and we're actually going over 70 a few days,

Diane Sue good job with the Mobility stretch challenge. I'm glad you go to spend time with your grandson.

Valerie glad you made it back safely.

Carolyn nice job with the yoga.

Hi Judy!

Today I did JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster. That was 30 minutes, 226 calories burned, 135 average heart rate, and 173 maximum heart rate. I had planned to do Step Sync, but my knee had me rethinking a step workout.

Cathy, great job with STS 2 Lower Body 2 and Live Cardio Kickboxing and Core. It was ambitious to schedule those back to back!

Hello to Valerie, Judy, and Diane Sue.

Today I did a 45 minute Peloton ride, 10 minutes of arms and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga.

Carolyn-Great job with your yoga/mobility practice and JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster. I’m glad your husband had a nice outing with his friends.

Cathy-Great job with STS 2 Lower Body 2 and LIVE Cardio Kickboxing and Core. It looks like we will have a few nice weather days this week. I wasn’t expecting that after last week but I’ll take it.

Hi to Diane Sue & Valerie

Today I did STS 2.0 Super Sets Total Body express 2 sets, 55 minutes, 145 calories, heart rate 96/119. I also did Day 9 wrists and hands 11 minutes and Day 8 total body mobility stretches 15 minutes from the 30 day challenge, 26 minutes total 45 calories. I did day 8 yesterday, but wanted more of a stretch after the weights. Total time was 81 minutes, 187 calories.

Just finished STS 2 Super Sets premix with 2 rounds. My brain was really not on board for working out so we compromised on 2 sets. :D I'd only done this previously in its entirety and I have to say it seems far easier with 2 sets. Not easy...but it definitely has a very different feel to it. Now I have to pack and make food for the trip tomorrow. Looks like I'll have some rain at least in the morning tomorrow but nothing heavy and it'll be over 50 and mostly cloudy when I get up there which is fine for hiking. Drive home is looking much wetter. Lots of areas showing potential storms, so I'm going to check radar and hourly forecasts tomorrow night to try and gauge the best time to head out. Though it will be quite nice once I get close to home, but close means the last hour or so, not the first 5 hours.

Diane Sue I see you did the same workout yesterday. Along with the extra wrists, hands and mobility workouts.

Judy nice job with the Peloton ride, arms and yoga. I agree that I wasn't expecting it to get this nice again, but I will definitely take it.

Carolyn great job with JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster.

Hi Valerie.

we are in a wet cold weather pattern. not much chance for outdoor activity. combined with hunting season, it limits things. Im feeling very achy and hope to get by with therapy exercises and maybe a ride. I cant possibly say how much I hope this surgery will help. it will likely take weeks before I start to understand what kind of effect it will have. this is a BFD surgery. I should be up and walking the next day but activity is limited to walking. last night I did therapy and curls. very limited on upper body work too.

cathy I was very happy with my seat cushion and visor extender. the visor extender helps immensely with low morning sun. polarized light brown plastic panel that slides up and down at the bottom of the visor. it is secured with velcro straps. easy to use. not in the way when not needed. it was $15 at amazon. it helps when sunglasses aren't enough and the sunshine is going to be a problem for longer than a few minutes. I need to go back to amazon today for some things for my sister so I will put in a link for you. it transfers car to car but our new car is the only one with short visors. I could not get the one line product identifier to show up but thi is what to look for. it has a sideways extender also, but I only need vertical. SailEAD Polarized Car Visor Extender - Universal Sun Visor for Car w/Polycarbonate Lens - Anti-Glare, Car Sun Visor Extender Protects from Sun Glare, Snow Blindness & UV Rays - Translucent

we ended up selling the tires we shipped back here. actually a friend sold them for us. he gave us the money. we had given him the tires. turns out subaru used cheap tires and a 4th match was not easy to find, and we have enough going on right now! the whole process was disappointing except for our friend Jack. the tires are fine for most users and are brand new, just not worth the aggravation of trying to find a 4th similar tire for a subaru. most other car makes would be fine with them.

This morning I did a few minutes of One Mile of Motivation for warm up then did STS 2 Standing Abs Metabolic Core Warm up. That was 16 minutes and 84 calories burned. Then I did STS 2 Total Body Stretch for another 23 minutes and 57 calories burned.

Judy, good job with the 45 minute Peloton ride, 10 minutes of arms, and Yin Yoga.

Diane Sue, great job with STS 2 Super Sets Total Body, and continuing with the CDorner stretch and Mobility Challenge.

Cathy, you and Diane Sue had a shared inspiration today. Great job with STS Super Sets Total Body. Have a safe trip tomorrow.

Valerie, I’m sorry that you are in such pain. I hope that the surgery is successful but it know that it will take time to know. That’s good news about the tires.

Today I did CDorner Low Impact Aerobics(all standing) which has several segments using light 3 lb dumbbells and ends with a 10 minute stretch. This was fun and went quickly. 48 minutes, heart rate 124/153, 211 calories, 3,829 steps. I also did Day 10 of the 30 day challenge, morning spinal mobility, 19 minutes, 33 calories. Total time was 67 minutes, 244 calories, 3,876 steps. The STS 2 workout was actually yesterday. I posted it after midnight. I really liked the spinal mobility work today. It was movement based and really helped me as my spine aches most of the time. It was raining last night and I woke up when the electricity came back on and the treadclimber beeped and lit up along with my dog sitting by the bed giving the wake up look. I tried turning the treadclimber off in the dark, but couldn't get it done so I threw a towel over it so the lighted panel did not keep me awake. The fan and air purifier were off so turned them back on. Then my Garmin messaged me to let me know the door camera was offline when I started to fall back to sleep

Judy, nice work on the Peloton ride, 10 minute arms, and yin yoga yesterday.

Carolyn, nice work on JS 30 minute Fat Blaster Blaster yesterday. I have to rethink steps sometimes too. My knees are not always happy with it. Good job today getting in 1 mile to motivation, STS 2 Standing Abs metabolic core warm up and STS 2 Total Body Stretch.

Cathy,I always dread the cold wet weather. We have a freeze hitting at night next week with some highs in the 4's. I hope it does not hang around too much. Once in a while we have rather pleasant weather through December.
I hope that you have a safe trip. Funny we both made the same choice with STS 2.0 supersets 2 sets. It did feel easier that way. I got a late start so my time was limited and I did want to get the mobility in as well.

Valerie, I am glad that you were able to get in some therapy moves and curls. I hope things are better for you and you are happy with the surgery results. That is nice that you had someone that you could sell the tires to.

last night I did therapy work, x train abs, 10 min on the spin bike, and a series of upper body exercises for about an hour of focused activity.

this whole situation is weird. my back doesnt hurt, it never "hurts" but it aches. and the more I do, the more it aches. it is incentive to sit and do nothing, which mostly I dont follow. a sedentary person might leave well enough alone, but my instincts tell me this will not stop. I need to get this fixed or even sitting will get difficult.
we always watch Montana weather. last week was lovely, even sunday. it was 70-75. warm, sunny and lovely. not even fall-like. today it is snowy, temps in the teens, icy, frozen with car crashes all over and definitely winter. so glad we took the chance to make that trip. it truly can change suddenly. here it is also a lot cooler, wetter and fall for sure.

ETA our weather here cleareed this afternoon so I did a mt bike around the neighborhood. it is not flat so its a decent workout 40 min and 5 miles. I will still do some therapy work while dinner is heating.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one for 26 minutes and 187 calories burned. My average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 159.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Low Impact Aerobics and day 10 of the challenge.

Valerie, nice job with therapy exercises, XTrain Abs, 10 minutes on the spin bike, and upper body exercises. I’m sure that being totally sedentary would make you very unhappy!

Hello to Cathy and Judy.

Yesterday I went for a long walk with Chris, then I did a 15 minute row. The weather was so nice! Today I did a 45 minute Peloton ride, 30 minutes of Peloton Total Body Strength, a 10 minute Row and 10 minutes of Restorative Yoga. I took a coworkers shift so I will be working tomorrow and Sat/Sun.

Diane Sue-Great job with STS 2.0 Super Sets Total Body express, the mobility stretches and CDorner Low Impact Aerobics. That spinal mobility work sounds really good.

Cathy-Great job with STS 2 Super Sets premix with 2 rounds. Have a safe trip!

Valerie-Great job with the mountain bike ride, therapy exercises, XTrain Abs, spinning, and upper body exercises. I’m sorry about your back pain and I am wishing you all the best with your upcoming surgery.

Carolyn-Great job with the One Mile of Motivation warm up, STS 2 Standing Abs Metabolic Core Warm up, STS 2 Total Body Stretch and KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one.

Today I did CDorner Defined Legs and Abs, 51 minutes,131 calories, heart rate 97/128. I also did Day 11 of the mobility challenge Lower Body Stretch (all standing using a chair) 12 minutes, 22 calories. Total time 63 minutes, 153 calories.

Valerie, nice work on the X Train abs, spin bike, and upper body work for an hour of focused activity. I think stopping getting in the movement would not be good for you. It is amazing how quickly weather can change. Starting Sunday our temps are going to plummet. Sunday high says 39 and 29 at night. I hope it does not last too long. It is kind of early for freezing temps here.

Carolyn, good work with KCM Cardio Quick Fix 1. Nice calorie burn on that one.

Judy, that is nice that you got a walk in with Chris and 15 minutes of rowing in yesterday. Good job on the 45 minute Peloton Ride , 30 minutes of Peloton Strength, 10 minutes of rowing, and restorative yoga. I am sure that you will get in a lot of walking at work the next few days. I saved the spinal mobility workout on Youtube because I am sure I will be wanting to use it.

Today I did STS 2.0 Upper Body 1, express 2 sets maximum. My time was 59 minutes and 243 calories burned. Average heart rate was 113 and maximum heart rate was 169. I didn’t want to get the tower out so I did the option of one arm rows for the pull ups and chin ups.

Judy, great job with walking outside with Chris, the Peloton ride, total body strength, rowing and restorative yoga. That’s a nice series of workouts over the past few days.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Defined Legs and Abs, and day 11 of the challenge.

Hello to Valerie and Cathy.

Today I did CDorner Fast Basic Step # 331, 24 minutes, 128 calories, heart rate 127/155, 2,570 steps. I liked that this was quick, fast, and nothing difficult to follow. I used two risers like Chris did. She rarely uses 2 risers on each side. I then did STS 2.0 Total Body Trisets upper only mix since I did legs yesterday. This is 43 minutes but took me 55 with adjusting weights. I used Bowflex weights for some of it as my husband has my 20's in our room to use. This was 149 calories, heart rate 98/123. I finished with Day 12 of the mobility challenge Upper Body Stretch, 11 minutes, 19 calories. Total time was 90 minutes, 296 calories.

Today I did STS 2.0 Lower Body 1 express, 1 set only, which was 33 minutes and 243 calories burned. My average heart rate was 113 and maximum heart rate was 169. I’m very sore from yesterday’s upper body workout. I’m feeling all of those one arm rows that I did.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Fast Basic Step, Total Body Trisets upper only, and day 12 upper body stretch.

Hello to Judy, Cathy, and Valerie.

I had to stop taking my NSAIDS before surgery and will need to stay off of them for several months. I am having pretty terrible sxs from this. every joint aches. I can take tylenol which is not helpful. I did another ride yesterday around the neighborhood on my mt bike. then we went to friends home for dinner. I had to keep sitting back down because my back ached so much , along with all other joints besides. I will have actual pain meds following surgery and hopefully by the time I finish those, I will have gotten thru the rebound bad effects of stopping the nsaids. getting old is definitely a bitch.
