Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/01/2023

Just did My Finished Step workout. I found more types of workouts that I can choose from on my watch. The one I chose does show steps and I had almost 9,000, but they do not get added to my daily total. Which is likely more legit than letting them count, but still. LOL It does seem to keep track of my heart rate way better than my FitBit was doing. While DH was gone yesterday I ran four bags of stuff to Goodwill. Now I just need to regularly pull out boxes and go through them.

Valerie that's so great that your road ride allowed you to watch the salmon for awhile. Both my Yaris and DH's Corolla have levers that move the seats up, and my steering wheel adjusts so I have good vision and honestly after spending 47 years (that's seems like a crazy number) driving I've just adjusted to dealing with the sun. In general I know when and where it'll be a problem and adjust my schedule or route, and if it can't be avoided for a short time, I'll block is with my hand. Fortunately, there's very few times now that I'm not working that I have to deal with it.

Caroline you weren't tempted by any of the breads? I can easily skip the croissants, but I do love fresh baked bread.

Diane Sue great job with Coffey Fit Raw Timesaver, Raw Timesaver Pull 21, Timesaver Abs STS 2 mat yoga. I see Nick's temps in Fort Worth are supposed to drop back to around 80 again mid-week. Hopefully yours do, too. We're going to have four nice sunny days in the low 80's and then back to 50's/60's, and our night time lows are going to start dropping below 40. I just would prefer it not be rainy. So often we get into October and start getting some nice fall colors and boom, we get wind and rain and they are gone before they peak.

DH has a regular shipment of vitamins that come for him and Derek and I joked about his paying me $175 to deliver them, which would cover hotel and gas, but sadly, I don't think he's going to take me up on it. LOL

Hi Judy!

we did a road ride this morning even tho it was cold, 38 degrees. warmed up as we rode. 15 miles. our longer sunday ride has traffic issues if we ride later in the morningwhen its warmer.

cathy, I never had major car "fit" issues before. my 2004 forester was fine. we've had multiple trucks, a mazda, grand cherokee, and 2009 ford 250, a 2019 ford ranger. all were fine. it is this year trouble has started. we still have several of those vehicles and I fit fine in them. it seems like the 2023/4 models dont fit. we have a service appt at subaru tomorrow so I am going to lodge a complaint about the visor. I cant understand how it benefits anyone, certainly not shorter people, and Im short, but not that short. we cant alter the drive time, we are going east for a long distance and it can be an issue for hours. it can be the same thing returning and driving west. one intersection in particular is a big issue, where two interstates meet.

DH is too efficient. does things and doesnt remember he did them. doesnt mention them. this time it was my full finger riding gloves. I had them in my car in the back seat. it was cold, I looked and they werent there. looked in my pack but no. put on the half fingered ones after asking him if he's picked up my gloves by mistake. no, he hadn't. after the first two miles my hands were freezing. we stopped to adjust clothing and I looked in his pack anyway. there were my gloves. I appreciate he wants to help but this does not. makes me crazy. things move from where I put them and then he doesnt remember doing it. he does this "grab and stuff" maneuver that moves things. I found my gloves this time but sometimes it takes a lot more searching.

This morning I did my Morning Yoga for 18 minutes. My youngest daughter was home just overnight. She came for a baby shower that they were doing for one of her close friends. It was nice to have her close even for such a short period. Her cancer treatment has certain side effects, but she is dealing with them and trying to live her life as best as possible.

Diane Sue, great job with the Raw workouts, abs, and Mat Yoga.

Cathy, great job with your Finished Step workout and getting some items donated to Goodwill. I hear a lot of “I’m going to need that” when I try to clean out. I am always tempted by the breads, but I try not to buy unless it’s for a special occasion and I won’t be the only one eating it. Those croissants really caught my attention for some reason.

Valerie, great job with the road ride.

Hello to Judy. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day.

This morning I did XTrain Hard Strikes, no conditioning exercises. That was 35 minutes and 219 calories burned, average heart rate 124, and maximum heart rate 146.

Have a great day everyone.

Today was a zoo day. I ended up skipping the last of my usual 1/2 hour, though I was still there over 2 hours, as it had gotten hot faster than predicted and I was over dressed.

Valerie I'm curious to hear what they told you about the visor. Brr on your ride yesterday! Today is the first of our 80+ degree days and then we're dropping quite a bit, nights are cool though. Glad you found your gloves. DH an I are generally hands off each others stuff, so when we can't find something it's generally our own issue.

Carolyn great job with the yoga and Hard Strikes.

I then did Raw Time Saver Cardio 18 minutes 113 calories, heart rate 149/176, finished with Raw Stretch Finisher and some added upper body stretching, 12 minutes, 30 calories. Yesterday I did Live # 426, PHA Heavy Weights Express (34 minutes). I added on LiTe Pyramid Triceps and Xtrain Core 2. I finished with a 10 minute Peloton cool down row.

HD is cutting back on hours so between that and my limiting my availability, I’m down to 12 hours a week. I also scheduled an extra week off this month and will be taking time off around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cathy-Great job with your Finished Step workout. The weather is very nice this week. We are looking forward to the fall colors.

Valerie-Great job with your road ride. Wow, that is cold weather for cycling.

Carolyn-Great job with your Morning Yoga and XTrain Hard Strikes, no conditioning exercises. It’s good that your daughter was home this weekend. I’m sorry about the side effects of her treatment.

Diane Sue-Great job with Raw Strength Moves, Raw Time Saver Cardio and Raw Stretch Finisher.

Just finished STS 2 Lower Body 2. Another beautiful day here.

Judy I really hope that we don't get rain and wind to ruin the fall colors here. So far, so good though we are just at the very beginning. Derek and his GF came south to visit her parents last weekend (Cadillac area) and she said the colors are starting to get really nice up north. I so wish I could convince DH to fund a short trip up to see Derek, just so I could see the colors along the way, but we've had so many extra expenses lately and I just added Nick's flight home at Christmas to that. Great job with Live # 426, PHA Heavy Weights Express, LiTe Pyramid Triceps and Xtrain Core 2 and the Peloton Cooldown.

Diane Sue nice job with Raw Strength Moves, Time Saver Cardio and stretch finisher.

Cathy no one knew anything about the visor. we were in a rush besides with a loaner car to drop and two just serviced cars to pick up, so I didnt learn anything. not done with the topic, just done for the moment.
yesterday was not a good day. didnt do anything but what I needed. DH believes he is helping the situation by collecting things and moving them. it happens a lot. like if we are going somewhere in the morning early and I set out things I need to take, he "helps" me by taking them to the car without mentioning it. so I go to the kitchen to pick up my watch, water bottle, and coffee and they arent where I left them. many times its done on "auto pilot ", things I've done without thinking much, but when they aren't where I thought I left them I start searching, thinking maybe I left them upstairs etc. it was like that with the gloves. I thought they were in the back seat but could be in either bike pack or in the box of extra bike things since they haven't been used since spring. I know he intends to help but it doesnt.

DH has work clothes he will never wear again but I cant get him to donate them. shirts, ties, pies, sport coats. I think he should keep a couple things for weddings and funerals and donate the rest but it doesnt happen. people dont dress for even those occasions anymore. not perfect myself but I would get rid of a lot of things dishes and glassware, books, DVD's, and he resists. strongly.

judy we ride all year. we dressed for winter even though barely oct. it warmed up a lot as we rode. not enough to change clothes. the first part of our ride is in a microclimate that is always 5 degrees colder than the surrounding area. this week will be warmer and sunny.

Carolyn hope your daughter weathers the side effects well. hopefully she will get thru things ok and move beyond it quickly.

Today I did STS 2 Supersets Total Body, a timesaver with 2 rounds instead of 3. My time was 51 minutes with 252 calories burned. My average heart rate was 121 and maximum heart rate was 147. The plumber was scheduled to do our annual inspection and I had just enough time to finish the timesaver before he arrived.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Strength Moves, Timesaver Cardio, and Stretch Finisher.

Cathy, great job with STS 2 Lower Body 2. Your weather sounds lovely with milder temperatures and fall color.

Judy, great job with Live PHA Heavy Weights Express, LiTE Pyramid Triceps, XTrain Core 2, and Peloton cool down row. It’s good that your new work schedule will give you more time off.

Valerie, I can see how your husband’s efforts at helping could be frustrating at times. Both of us have professional wardrobes that we need to get rid of. Some items I know that I’ll never wear again.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did CDorner Cardio Core plus stretch, 50 minutes, heart rate 121/157, 207 calories. This alters 3 minute cardio segments with core exercises and ends with a stretch that is about 11 minutes. I then did Raw Timesaver Sculpt Shadow Boxing with 3# dumbbells (Kelly used 5's). 18 minutes, heart rate 119/158, 84 calories. Total time was 68 minutes, 291 calories, 2,784 steps. I am trying to get things done as I have an appointment for eye exam this week and next is a arthritis appointment that has been postponed twice and I host game day. I have not heard back yet from the pulmonologist on that culture they took.

Judy, nice work yesterday on PHA Live Heavy Weights Express and adding LIte Pyramid Triceps, XTrain Core 2, with a Peloton Row Cool Down. That sounds like a really great combo. That is nice that you will have more time off.

Cathy, good job on STS 2 Lower Body 2. The weather was really nice here today. I went outside this morning to clear some dead leaves out of the planter and there was a nice breeze. We have rain in the forecast tomorrow, but I don't think it is going to rain as many days as it originally was forecast.

Carolyn, that is nice you got to spend a little time with your daughter. Doing things, she normally would do probably helps her through the treatments. Nice work on STS 2 Super Sets Total Body Timesaver.

Valerie, sorry that things get misplaced. I hope you can do something about your visor so that you can see. I have been clearing things out of my closet. I have too many things that I look at and think "no" I won't wear them, and they are taking up hangers that I do not want to add to. Nice job on the ride Sunday.

This morning I did STS 2 Upper Body 2 one set. Wrist is still being weird, very little I do with weights bothered it but I can move a package that's a couple ounces and it twinges. Friday starts the rotation moving into parts workouts and I'm going to use the premixes for two parts a day, so that I can fit in cardio, core and stretches. DH is debating going up to see Derek and I'm wavering back and forth and whether that's a good idea or not. Construction at the bridge is greatly delaying travel at times. Like 1-4 hours delay. It's fall so hotels are extra pricey because of the color, and he just does not travel well at all. So while I'd like to see the colors, I'm just not overly thrilled about doing it that way.

Valerie we have an area of our yard that I think of as having a microclimate. No matter how hot it is, it's always noticeably cooler in our back corner. And it is shaded, but so are other areas so it goes beyond that. That path takes you between to thickets and there is some bare ground, and most of the other plants are low to the ground. It's nice on a hot day, but a bit much later in the day when you're dressed for the temperature and get goose bumps walking through there. LOL

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Cardio Core plus stretch, and Raw Timesaver Sculpt Shadow Boxing.

Carolyn nice job with STS 2 Supersets Total Body.

Hi Judy!

This morning I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one for 26 minutes and 184 calories burned. My average heart rate was 134 and maximum heart rate was 161. I did a virtual WW meeting but not with my usual Coach who is sick today. It turned out to be a good meeting, something I will remember in the future.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Cardio Core plus Stretching, and Raw Timesaver Sculpt Shadow Boxing.

Cathy, great job with STS 2 Upper Body 2.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Yesterday I walked for about 30 minutes. It was so nice out! Sunny and 80 degrees. Last night I did 15 minutes of rowing. This morning I did a 45 minute Peloton Power Zone ride and a 10 minute Cool Down ride.

Cathy-Nice job with STS 2 Lower Body 2 and STS 2 Upper Body 2 one set. I’m sorry about your wrist. I hope it’s better soon. Chris is having an issue with his wrist and thumb. He’s been going to the chiropractor and just started getting laser treatments.

Valerie-That’s great that you ride all year. When I lived in Iowa and was riding outside, I would usually stop around the first of November and then go back out in March or April.

Carolyn-Great job with STS 2 Supersets Total Body, timesaver premix and Cardio Quick Fix workout one. I do need to look at more of the STS 2 timesaver premixes. I think they would work well for me.

Diane Sue- Great job with CDorner Cardio Core plus stretch and Raw Timesaver Sculpt Shadow Boxing. I need to try the Raw Shadow Boxing one soon. I love having the rowing machine in the basement. It makes it so easy to use it after strength work for a short cool down.

Today I did CDorner Step and Arm Toning, 46 minutes, 181 calories, heart rate 116/143, 3,454 steps. I also did the first group of moves on CDorner Int. Step #332, 12 minutes, heart rate 116/131, 55 calories, 1,058 steps. I finished off with STS 2 mobility 1 17 minutes, 35 calories. Total time was 76 minutes, 271 calories, 4,512 steps. Step and Arm alternated 5 min basic step and 3 min strength segments which hit all upper body muscles. Time went by quickly with this one. I have an eye appointment in the morning so may not do a workout. If I do it may be just lower body as my shoulders are sore.

Kathy, nice work with STS Upper Body 2. I can understand the turmoil on the trip. But, to see the colors you only have a certain amount of time. Delays that long would be a definite no for me.

Carolyn, good job on KCM Cardio Quick Fix 1. That is nice that the Weight Watchers meeting ended up being a good meeting even though your usual coach was sick.

Judy, nice work on yesterday's walk and 15 minutes of rowing, and today's Peloton Power Zone ride with the 10 minute cooldown ride. I liked the Raw Timesaver shadow boxing. These are nice workouts for add ons or by themselves.

I didn’t get to do a workout today. The plumber came at 9:00 to replace our sink. Of course it wasn’t a straight forward job but they are about to finish up. Our Americast cast iron sink was original to the house and it was in bad shape!

Judy, it’s nice that you could walk outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Great job with the Peloton rowing and Peloton ride. The STS 2 timesavers are a good way to explore the workouts.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step with Arm Toning, Intermediate Step, and STS 2 Mobility 2. Good luck with the eye appointment. I’m still waiting for my new glasses to be ready.

Hello to Cathy and Valerie. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Lower Body (Pyramids) 44 minutes, 165 calories. I followed it with Raw Stretch Finisher and CDorner relaxing neck stretch and a couple of minutes rolling the traps, 27 minutes, 42 calories. Wow, my endurance is not very good. I forgot how this workout was. Not much rest in this one at all. I was surprised at my cardio burn as I was breathing hard. Total time was 71 minutes, 42 calories. I got up earlier to go to my eye appointment and realized it is tomorrow and not today. For some reason I wrote it down wrong in one place and threw my scheduling off. I kept wondering why I did not get a reminder text like usual. Then I checked the appointment card. They did send a reminder this afternoon.

Raw Lower Body Pyramids

Carolyn, I am hoping I do not have to wait too long for the new glasses. Mine have a floppy hinge on one side that makes my glasses not sit right, plus they fall off when I look down. They couldn't fix them and I decided to wait till the year for insurance was up which is tomorrow. My readers that I have are missing the nose piece and dig in so I really am wanting the glasses. Besides I see so much better with my progressive lenses. Last time I waited 3 weeks and called them and they had to send them back because something was not right.

We did a hike today for 5.5 hours. it was tough. I havent done hikes often enough and each one feels like the first one. won't matter much though since I am planning on scheduling the surgery for either the 31st or the 7th. I will only be walking on flat ground for quite a while. activity will be very limited. yesterday I did a mix of 15 on the spin bike, x train abs, and a series of mixed upper body moves for a total of 45 min to an hour.

it was lovely here too today mid 70's and sunny.
Judy we try to ride all year but some years there are gaps when it isn't safe to ride due to ice or snow. other years, there's barely an interruption. we dont ride if its raining . its harder to ride in the cold and our options are limited. sometimes we can mountain bike when rad riding is unpleasant because your speed is overall much less. even if the ground is frozen there's traction on dirt and gravel. this year it wont happen. I will be recovering for months and wont be able to ride anything but an exercise bike.

ETA my surgery date is Nov 7th.

This morning I did STS 2 Giant Sets Total Body. I did the timesaver that was bilateral only which was 38 minutes with 171 calories burned. My average heart rate was 116 and maximum heart rate was 140.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Lower Body, Raw Stretch Finisher, CDorner Relaxing neck stretch. I’ve mixed up appointment dates too. The appointment cards are good to have for double checking.

Valerie, that sounds that quite a hike that you did for 5.5 hours. Great job with 15 minutes of spinning, XTRAIN Abs, and upper body exercises.
