Getting us started...
I'm amazed at how good my short treadmill run felt yesterday. I wanted to get in a longer cardio session by adding the elliptical but something happened to our sound speakers where the one next to the elliptical was bringing in all the sound about 3 inches from my right ear. we need to find out what's amiss with our sound system today. they are in-wall speakers, one by the treadmill and the other by the elliptical. unpleasant. the TV itself has wimpy sound! I also had trouble trying to watch streaming. any "background" music was so loud it was awful, but the dialogue was barely audible. so it meant going up and down with the volume so much that things were unwatchable. seems some component failed somewhere. .

Valerie, thanks for starting the thread. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice and Ellen Barrett’s Zen Yoga Stretch from her 7 Day Challenge. These are both short so my total time was 33 minutes. It was a nice stretching session.

Hello to Everyone and have a great day.

I was supposed to do KPC today, but I've had a rough sleeping week and was awake at 4 and at the point where I would have done it, I just felt exhausted. So, I did P30 Mobility instead. I'm starting STS tomorrow. Another reason I didn't want to push it today.

That's too bad about your sound system Valerie. It's such a pain when stuff like that happens.

Carolyn great job with the yoga today.

Today I did LiTe Rev'd Up Rumble with the Calorie Crush, then shoulder & triceps Pyramid Pumps.

Diane Sue-I looked at the Raw Upper and Lower Burn Outs and they look good. I'm going to try to do them this week.

Cathy-I'm sorry about the sleep. That's great that you are starting STS! I've been thinking about doing an STS rotation this year.

Carolyn-Nice job with the yoga and stretching today.

Hi to Deb & Valerie!

We went out looking at houses this afternoon and found one we like. Have to see how things go.

Valerie, I think that I mentioned before that I do not use the self cleaning. It always scares me how hot the ovens get when they are doing that. Here it is right next to the refrigerator. I use an oven cleaner that is safe for self cleaning ovens. That was really hot to melt a cookie sheet. that would be scary. Yes, we have to figure out what the problem is with the microwave asp..

Judy, I plan on doing the Lower Burn out later in the week. I am guessing not quite the same format or maybe not as heavy as Kelly put it under muscle definition. She sure was pushing the heavier weights on the upper. She would mention a lower weight and then pick up heavy. She has not got the live ones she did on facebook up yet. They look good. I guess the third one that was non weight with Kaitlin did not work. One looks like weights and then there is a kickboxing one. I think :)

Carolyn, nice that you got in yoga this morning. Normally that would be what I would do.

Cathy, sorry about the sleep. Mine went downhill last night. I woke up feeling anxious about upcoming events and over whelmed I guess. Appointments etc., figuring out getting packed, children and school etc.. Having the house show ready. I hate when that happens and I even took some melatonin before I went to bed. It is hard to push through a workout with lack of rest.

Carolyn, thanks... geez how did I do that? I think I followed a link to the thread from email. of all people i should know there was a new thread.

did rock em sock em and icy core 1 today. I have a roman chair, a piece of equipment I used to use a lot fopr core work. I am trying pull ups/chin ups on it. I actually can do more than I ever was able to do before. I have a giant rubber band to use as an assist. If I put a knee on the band i can actually move up and down some. this is a long term project! there are people on WW connect that do them so i am thinking maybe I can work up to doing modified ones at least.

cathy STS is such a great program. Ive done it several times but not for a few years now. Rock it!

Funny thing is after we looked at the houses and decided to drive roads back as I don't like the turnpike, I mentioned going from the house we would like to buy down a street that I have traveled a lot, but not that far south. Anyway we ended up driving in a muddy dirt road with floating water all around us from melting snow that dead ended and had to drive on more muddy road with water surrounding after turning. Ended up with the option to go right down more mud road as there was another dead end to get back to a main road. I told my husband I will never attempt that again. The Taurus is not a vehicle that you want to travel through mud in. We got on the highway to head back home. Decided to forego checking distance to our church. I may have to learn to drive the turnpike. Not a lot of real close shopping other than a Homeland.

Valerie, good luck with the pull ups and chin ups. I have a door bar and have a heavy duty band. I am so afraid after injuring my shoulder in the past. The most I do is use the Fit Tower from the floor. No hanging pull ups for me.

diane sue that was what was so scary. I didn't turn the oven to self clean. several steps to the process. you cant do it accidentally. the oven locked itself. if you don't roast meat, the oven stays clean and I ran self clean rarely. had a cookie sheet in there that had some kind of non stick coating, and it burned it off. the metal sheet did not melt, I phrased that wrong. clearly something was very wrong.
I am pretty short, and I absolutely did not want a microwave above a cooktop. I think that's a dangerous and potentially disastrous combination. I also would never buy a combo of an oven and microwave since microwaves fail so much more frequently. i am thinking about this because I need to replace my current cook top. the large burner I use most is failing. burner failed in the first few months so had warranty repair, but that was 20-25 years ago. not going to replace it again. should be able to do this ourselves.

I'm fascinated with the possibility I might do a pull up. not so sure about chin up, due to hand position. the band lets me start from a mid point rather than a hanging down straight arm so a little easier. even the fit tower from the floor is impressive!

Today I did Low Impact Sweat 1 for 28 minutes and 180 calories burned. My average heart rate was 128 and maximum heart rate was 158.

Cathy, not getting enough sleep is certainly a reason to give yourself a break. P 30 Mobility was a good choice.

Judy, great job with Rev’d Up Rumble with the Calorie Crush.

Diane Sue, house hunt is a big task. I hope that you can find something that you both like.

Valerie, nice job with Rock’m Sock’m and Icy Core. I’m impressed that you are working on pull ups/chin ups. Like Diane Sue, I only do them with the tower pulling up from the floor. I feel so strong when I do them!

Lori, where are you?

Waving hello to Deb.

I never thought about using the fit tower. for years DH parked a heavy barbell on it so I could not get to it. every time I took it odd, he put it back on. I finally dissembled it and removed it since he wasn't going to. now that he stores it somewhere else, after I threw a fit about it. I could try pull up it on the fit tower too. I dont feel strong in the palms-toward- me position, but the other direction feels good.

Deb you seem to be MIA most of the time now. is something wrong?

did groceries this morning. the store I shop at had some incredible deals on frozen shrimp and turkey. they must have over stocked. half price. I never buy shrimp since DH always balked at the idea, but I bought a package this time. also had scallops for 50% but that might be asking too much. since he is doing WW he has been willing to try "0" point things that he wouldn't eat before.

Today I did Cathe Live Metabolic Med Ball Blast and finished with Jessica Smith Walk Strong-Have a Ball.
It was good combination as Cathe's workout has some metabolic weight work mixed in and Jessica's has a lot of standing core work. I feel like I got a little bit of everything in just over an hour.

Valerie-Awesome that you are working on pull ups! Like Carolyn, I've only done them with the fit tower but I don't do them enough to really get stronger. I'd love to be able to do them like Cathe does.

Carolyn-Great job with Low Impact Sweat! I agree about feeling strong when doing fit tower pull ups. That is a powerful move and one I should be doing more often.

Diane Sue-Good luck with the house hunting.

Deb-I hope everything is ok.

Hi to Cathy & Lori,

Today was Meso 1 Disk 1 and I got my 1RMs pretty much dead on. I got all the Reps, but a lot of things that was all I could manage and sometimes barely managed. Finally got a decent nights sleep. Woke up at 5 and decided to try going back to sleep. Next time I woke up, I was like “hmm must have slept, I was dreaming.” Looked at the clock and it was 7:12!

I’ve never even tried the self clean on my oven. Only things I’ve read about it scared me too much.

Judy great job on the workouts!

Diane Sue good luck with the house hunting. My sister’s been looking both at places in Florida near them and in NC in the area of their condo, but both those markets are crazy now, and places are on and off the market in 1-3. The other day she sent me a listing that she’d just seen, and an hour later when I looked at it, it was off the market. That drive you took is more adventurous than I’d care for, though I’ve been in similar situations before.

Valerie my least favorite thing about Meso 1 is the chin ups, pull-ups and the gazillion push-ups. There was a time when I could do a couple hanging pull-ups, but that time is quite awhile ago now. I can do them using the bar on the fit tower in STS, but I really, really hate them.

DH has made a decision about the furnace, and he wants to have it done after Nick leaves next Monday as he sleeps down there and spends most of his time there, too.

Oh and my stability ball has met it's death though it isn't completely flat...yet. Nick often sits on it while watching things downstairs and he brought it up last night and said that Muppet had come over wanting attention and when he stood up and leaned on it, his claw punctured it. Ugh. My old one that doesn't fully inflate anymore will work okay for most exercises and I can sit on the bench or a chair for exercises where you sit on it. I'll get a new one soon, but not quite yet. Darn cats need to find jobs to pay for stuff like this.

the top tube on the fit tower is too big around for me to use easily. the other stand I have has tubing about half as big and it makes it much easier to grip. I did stacked upper body today. we want to ski tomorrow but weather is looking marginal. will decide in am.

cathy that is right.... a gazillion push ups. wow hanging pull ups. be proud! I tried but never could get pull ups or chin ups but I was using the fit tower. my hand arthritis is worse now, but that top tube is so darn fat, smaller is better. bummer on the kitty damage. their claws can do in a lot easily.
give the self cleaning function another look! it usually works great. take everything out of the oven including the shelves. especially the shelves! I only run it every other year, or if I have an spill over that threatens to smoke every time I turn the oven on. I would not leave oven completely unattended. usually I can run about a fourth of a full cleaning cycle since I dont roast meats and the spatter is what messes up ovens. I don't think spray on oven cleaner is innocuous either. prefer self clean. my oven had some sort of electronic failure. we had to replace the entire circuit and wiring. oven was not likely the source of the problem. we have a lot of flickering power outs here when a tree limb leans on a wire and the power flickers on and off dozens of times, before finally going out. it kills off a lot of electrical devices.

Good morning,

Friday I did Live Metabolic 300, 50 minutes 287 calories and Sunday I did Perfect Pump, total body premix, 34 minutes, 188 calories.

We spent a part of Thursday New Year's eve putting a new cage for Fritz together. I wanted one a bit larger for him, and new. His current one was over about 35 years old (!) and needed replacing. Once transferred, he was not liking it, he shut down completely. We figured he just needed to get used to the new set up. By Saturday, I knew this was not a good move for him, so we went to a pet store about 40 miles away, that specialized in bird stuff and bought another cage. That one at least was already put together . He seems to like this one a lot. Since the other one I bought was from Ebay, it is not returnable so I will be donating it to the SPCA.

Valerie, nothing wrong....just involved in stuff (like above) and not going on the computer that often. That's great that you are getting into pull ups etc. I have a doorway pull up bar that I used a lot with STS, it has a heavy duty strap that assists in doing them. Even using the strap it is still hard, but it makes you feel so good that you can actually do one! LOL...I think that is great that your DH is doing WW with you.

Cathy, sorry about the sleep issues, but is sounds like maybe you are getting back to getting a better sleep. Great that you are starting STS. Such a good series. Maybe look into Cathe's stability ball...

Judy, good job on Rev'd Up Rumble, Calorie Crush and Pyramid Pump.

Diane Sue, exciting that you found a house that you like! Will the location and the turnpike issue make you not want to get that house? My range has an oven with "AquaLift" oven cleaning process that uses steam at about 210 degrees. Sounds nice right? IT DOESN"T WORK! There is a class action lawsuit on it against Whirlpool and any other mfg that has sold stoves with it. I joined the suit. I wish I had the old fashioned one that my old stove had, that went up to 700 degrees to clean it. They claim that if you use any type of cleaner on it, it will void the warranty. What one do you use that says it is safe for self cleaning ovens?

Waving to Carolyn & Lori,

Take care,

Today I did P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body, Upper Body Bonus, and the Extended Stretch. My time was 52 minutes with 265 calories burned. Average heart rate was 119 and maximum heart rate was 157.

Judy, great job with Live Metabolic Med Ball Blast and JS Have a Ball. That sounds like a good combination.

Cathy, congratulations on starting STS. I had the series for years and only used individual workouts that came up in Cathe’s rotations. When I finally did the full program I really enjoyed it. I’m glad that I did.

Deb, I’m glad that you checked in today. Nice job with Live Metabolic 300 and Perfect Pump Total Body. It’s easy to get busy with life and not get to the computer. I use my iPad for that very reason.

Valerie, I used my self clean feature on my old oven and I have used it once on this new one that I got in 2019. Like you, I don’t leave it unattended and I will often shorten the time in the cycle. My ovens get a lot of use!

Hello to Diane Sue and Lori.

We tried to ski this morning, but it was too warm and wet and raining on the snow people had driven over. some years are worse than others. came back and rode the tree farm instead. not too nice out and very wet from all the rain. water everywhere. we got in an hour, about 5 miles, up the hill and back down. I may give pull ups a try later today. it was the oddest sensation... for the first time I was in the right position to activate upper back and shoulder muscles to move up. other times I felt like there was a disconnect between what I was trying to do and getting the right muscle areas involved.

Deb I remember the "steam cleaning" business. no it didn't work! I think the oven that did the melt down had both features, steam clean and regular self clean. it was a Whirlpool, and the steam clean does not work. I think my current oven is a whirlpool too. its a wall oven and not many companies make those so choices are limited. when I run a self clean, I clean off the glass window, pull the racks out, and set it to self clean. if the oven is not very dirty, I cancel the cycle after an hour or so. If you don't cook meat, the main issue is small spills on the bottom. it doesn't need 3 hours to clean those. the only place I use spray-on oven cleaner is on the glass window. I clean it before running a self clean cycle, but I dont use the spray anywhere else. DH uses it on the glass window of our wood stove.
thanks for checking in today. it seemed like you were not around much lately and I was just wondering if there was some problem. same way with Lori. hope she is okay, with virus flying every which way.

Today I did Cathe Live Time to Hiit it Low Impact, 40 minutes, 194 calories, heart rate 121/169, 3,139 steps. Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Ascending Pyramids Upper Body. I subbed pull ups with the Fit Tower for the double arm rows. I'm going to start working on pull ups regularly again. Thanks for the inspiration Valerie!

Deb-Great job with Live Metabolic 300 and Perfect Pump Total Body. Thanks for checking in!

Cathy-Nice job with STS Disc 1.

Diane Sue- Nice workouts today. I was going to do the Raw Burn out Upper Body but I wanted something a little longer today. I will try that one later this week.

Carolyn-Great job with Perfect Pump Upper Body, Upper Body Bonus, and the Extended Stretch.

I did KPC today. Had to get an oil change/tire rotation this afternoon. Not a fan of sitting in waiting rooms, but at least they weren't busy at all and they have multiple seating areas. After my great nights sleep, I wasn't tired at 10 last night and decided to read. That is a lifetime issue for me going back to when I was a kid with a flashlight under my pillow. LOL Needless to say I got engrossed and finished the book after midnight. The really sad part is that I'm rereading a series, and it's not like I didn't know how it ended. So now I'm sitting here exhausted and hoping at bedtime I'm still feeling tired. Workout yesterday definitely was effective. Especially in my shoulders!

Getting the new furnace Monday, so if I want to stay on track with STS I'll have to get up and do it early. Nick's leaving around 8 that morning, so he'll be up. I need to do that one on time as I'm already getting messed up a week from Friday because I'll be taking Derek back up.

Valerie I think my problem using the tower for them is that even the padded bar is on the large size for my hands. I may use tubing over the top for them. I've done that before. When the boys were little the zoo had a course for kids in their African area where they could collect points and pretend they were rangers if they got so many. It included a bar for chin ups/pull ups and if no one else was around I'd do a couple. I know last year Nick was doing them regularly as part of his workouts and he could do 14/15. But, they had to close the workout spaces on campus and he lost access. Sorry your skiing is still getting messed with from the rain. Good that you were able to get the ride in.

Deb good job with the workouts! What kind and how old is your bird?

Carolyn I think I've done STS at least 6 times if not more. Great job on the workouts!

Diane Sue I don't think I've tried that Live workout yet. Good job on those.
