Good morning,

A nice relaxing day yesterday. Spent some time at my cousin's, after agility class, then made Keegan's biscuits in the afternoon. I think I overcooked them, or messed up the ingredients, as they are too hard and dry, and both dogs had trouble with them this morning....choked when they tried to swallow them....great cook, that I am, cannot even get the dog treats right.

Valerie, not sure if you are going to stop by here before you leave, have a great trip!

Lori, I went looking for a replacement rug for my workout area yesterday, didn't find anything I liked...will try again. I really need to put the puzzle mats down again, and will put a rug over for more cushion, and so that I can use the disks without the covers. Also levels my treadmill better. Our floor has a steep in it that is pretty noticeable. Good idea on the double sided tape, they do move around a lot unless you have a whole room of them.

Garance, I got my Downton DVD's for season 3 and watched 2 episodes, really great stuff going on. I won't spoil it for you!

I may repeat last week's rotation week, since I missed a workout, but then again what difference does it make? I will probably repeat this whole rotation anyway once done.

Off for more coffee, and to get ready to do the workout,

take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did premix 7 on Legs (barre, ball and chair, floorwork and delts 62:08). I just don't like the standing work on this so do all of the other stuff.

Went to see Les Miserables yesterday. I just have trouble with singing ALL of the dialogue. Anne Hathaway is very moving and Hugh Jackman is really compelling. It's a beautiful film about a very sad situation, but somehow I think it doesn't work as a film. Better on stage where you don't have closeups.

Deb, don't feel bad about making dog treats. I just buy them for Max.

Out to dinner tonight.

...and tit's he start of another week...

Good morning,

I did Cardio Coach #3 this morning, missed the treadmill so did that instead of Hard Strikes, which I is kind of "meh" for me.

It's snowing like crazy here, and the weather experts say that it is going to turn into freezing rain and sleet. If you don't have to go out, don't. Nice for us that have to go out.

Garance, I don't think I would like a movie that was all singing...I make Keegan's treats because he is not supposed to have any commercial dog food or treats, and usually they come out ok. I decided to use the food processor to mix the dough, and did not add enough water...it was too dry. I should have know based on how hard it was to roll out.

Will check back later...

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Burn Sets Bis and Tris (37:15).

Deb, I watched Downton Abbey last night. Wow--did not see that one coming! Sad. It's snowing here too, but it sounds like "mixed precipitation" or "wintry mix" tonight, followed by all rain tomorrow and then up in the 50s on Wednesday. Weird weather.

Okay, so this is my theory about musicals and why they should stay onstage most of the time. The vocals are meant to be big and emotional in a stage play and give nuanced expression to characters to reach an audience that can be as far away as the balcony. Film, on the other hand, brings you close to the emotions of characters through closeups--of the face often, but other gestures, too. And the screen is big, so the face and hands or other gestures are big as well. When you couple a closeup with a big song, it's overkill. At least for me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Ladies,

No weight loss for this week. I’m still down the 4 pounds, but I guess that my body is holding on to every calorie. My clothes do fit better and my stomach has gone down a bit. I did my pure cardio plus abs DVD this morning. I did the sculpt class on Sunday for one hour.

My DS’s graduation was great and made us feel very proud of him. My DD yelled so loud when his name was called that she ended up loosing her voice for the rest of the day ;)

Have a great day ladies! I will be back later.

Josie

Hi ladies!

Very snowy here too. Stayed home from work today. Had no heat when I woke up. Motor went on the furnace. Furnace is 18 years old and it was the original one. Guess it was bound to happen.

It did not stop my workout though! Today was Legs followed up by a 2 1/2 mile run. As cold as it was in the house I still worked up a sweat!

Josie...again congrats to your son. Was a great accomplishment.

I have no desire to see Les Miserables at the movies. I have friends that went and loved it. It is just does not interest me.

Have a great night!!!!

Good morning,

No workout today, slept until 5:00, late class last night.

We had the freezing rain, etc and now all the snow and rain is gone and it's supposed to be in the 40's today.. crazy weather.

Garamce, I think your theory about musicals is right on. If there is some singing, and also some speaking, it's probably ok, but not all singing. As for DA, next one is just as good. I think this season is really good.. I guess people have said that season 2 was not as good as season 1, ( I liked both), but that this one is as good as the first.

Josie, you should be very proud of your DS!

Lori, how long did it take to get the furnace fixed? You must have been freezing when you woke up. Good thing it didn't happen while you were away. I always worry about things like that when I go away, pipes freezing etc. But I am a worry wort as my DH says all the time.

Did anyone read Gone Girl? It's waiting for me at the library to pick up. Everyone I talked to said it was good. I think it's a mystery/thriller.

Off for more

Hi Ladies,

Today’s workout was cardio power and resistance. It kicked my butt!
Thank you all for the congratulation regarding my DS. I am very proud of him and know that he will be an asset to whoever hires him. He is in school still working for his Medical Office Assistant certificate.

Garance, have you worked on you Channel jacket lately?

Deb, glad that you got some ZZZ’s.

Hi to Joan and the vacationing Valerie!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Low Impact HiiT + Core 1 (49:22).

Congrats, Josie, on your son's graduation! Yes, I am almost done with my Chanel jacket. I just do a little bit of it at a time--a lot of handwork.

Deb, I just felt bad that they killed off one of my favorite characters. I read Gone Girl awhile ago and liked it--although I found the characters very repellent at times.

Lori, did you replace your furnace quickly? We have a wood-burning furnace because DH sells wood (a lot of it from our 135 acres), and this is our second one. The first one lasted 25 years. They can shift over to oil as well.

Hi ladies!

Bis and tris this morning (Garance I think I am officiclay off a day from you!). Tonight when I get home Hubby wants to work out so I plan to run on the treadmill while he is on the bike. May do a 100 rep challenge too. Most likely it will be Bis.

My heater actualty started to have issues Saturday night. Woke up Sunday and it was FREEZING! Had the guy come out to fix it. Lasted a couple of hours then nothing. He came out again and fixed it. At this point it was now 9pm. So we go to bed at 11 and when we wake up it is cold again. At this point my DH was thru the roof! Third guy comes out and says we need a new motor and shows me why. Once this was replaced it now seems to be fine. Wasn't until 5pm that the house started to feel warm again.

Deb...I read Gone Girl and thought it was really good. Has a couple of great twists in it. I never used to read until I received a kindle. Now I read about 2 to 3 books a month. This is crazy for me!

Have a great afternoon!

Happy Hump Day!

Today I did X-Train Standing Leg pre-mix...I was supposed to do Cardio Leg Blast, but did not have the energy, and there was a huge dread factor going on, so I veered off the rotation a bit.

Josie, what series are you doing again?

Garance, DA just keeps getting better with each episode.

Lori, I have a NOOK and love it! Especially downloading from the library. Nothing like sitting at home, wanting a new book to read and not having to leave the house to get it. I rarely pay for a book, Barnes & Noble has a Free Book Friday, that is hit or miss, but they are free, so nothing wasted. I have a lot of books on request from the library, both hard cover and E-books. There are some that would not work well in electronic form, but I am one that thinks the e-readers were one of the best things to come along. Some library systems are already saying that they will go strictly to electronic form, and that is going to be a sad day.

Agility class tonight, not much else going on around here....

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Hard Strikes, the whole thing (46:37). I decided to do the conditioning so that I could shorten Cardio Leg Blast on Friday.

I will start using my IPad for books, too. I do, however, still like to have a REAL book. Can't imagine taking my IPad to the beach with all that sand and water and lotion. Deb, I think you would enjoy Linwood Barclay's books, especially the ones with the main character Zack Walker. They are both funny and full of twists and turns.

Lori, yes, I think you are one day behind me. I'm just doing my Sunday-Friday weekly rotation. Pretty sure I will try to sell Tabatacize on Amazon. Way too much impact!!! And if I tried to modify, I don't think I would get much of a workout. Gosh, Sunday was awfully cold not to have any heat. Poor you!

Hi to Josie!

Hi ladies!

Today was All Out Hiit. I really enjoy this workout. I feel like it just flies by! When I got home from work yesterday did 100 rep bis and tris while my husband was working out. I love these challenges. I can just bump them out and feel like I really had a great mini workout.

I am really loving xtrain and looking forward to tabatacise. I have not even done this workout or even watched it yet. Funny that you plan on selling it garance as it is the one that I am most looking forward too! Been killing me to wait until week 5!

Deb I heard good things about the nook. My brother has one and loves it. Garance, I love my ipad but prefer to read on my kindle. Weird right? Right now I am reading the 3rd book of the Hangman's Daughter. All three have been really good. I also have an Audible account and listen to books while driving to and from work or walking Chester. So I always have 2 to 3 books going at the same time.

Have a great night!

Lori

Good morning,

Late class last night so no workout today. We are having gale force winds right now...and they were strong all night. About 1700 homes without power in this area...lucky it isn't snowing or it would be a blizzard for sure. It was 65 degrees yesterday....whacky weather.

Garance, you saw my post about Cardio Leg Blast...it was either substitute the normal Legs workout, or do nothing, so I subbed. I really should do that one, since I am shorting myself on cardio with this rotation and only 4 days of workouts. I'll look up that series of books..I agree, I would not use the iPad on the beach! I like the NOOK because it is smaller and lighter than the iPad. I will be bringing the iPad to Palm Springs with Travel Fit loaded on it. Hopefully I will use it! I have not even looked at Tabatasize....is there a low impact pre-mix? probably not.

Lori, I will look up that series too! I keep a large spreadsheet of all the books I read, plus all that I want to read, series etc. and log the date when I request from the library. Too many times I got books that I had already read. Bummer when that happens. Audio books are good for trips or commuting. I used to do that when I had to go to our Rochester NY office ( about an hour and a half trip) and sometimes didn't want to get out of the car when I arrived because it was at a good part of the book! LOL.

Hi to Josie, and the MIA Joan!

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Talk about wind and rain! Same here Deb. I have branches all over my yard. Had no problem driving into work as it seemed to have calmed down a bit thank goodness!

This morning was hardstrikes which I love doing on my puzzle matts. First couple of times doing this work out (before matts) my knees felt really tired. What a difference these have made for me. Just enough cushion to take the stress off my joints. Not sure why I did not think of these earlier! Hubby is working out tonight so I will finish the day with a heavy bag workout. Loving the matts so much I may place some around my heavy bag too for that little extra cushion. At our age we need all the help we can get!

Have a great day all!!!!!

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Chest, Back, and Shoulders (53:51).

Deb, I think LIS was more cardio based than XTrain. I actually like the Leg Blast workout quite a bit. I just don't do all of the impact.

Lori, I haven't looked at Tabatacize, but just reading the outline in the book of the moves is enough to tell me it would be bad for my knees. You're still young in my book. I could do impact until I was about 58, and then my knees started to hurt and I needed cortisone to reduce the inflammation. Now, I just don't take a chance.

A whole lot of wind and rain here as well. From 60s yesterday down to the teens tonight. Crazy!

Hi Ladies,

I took a day off yesterday. I’m practicing for retirement ;) I went to my yoga studio and took the sculpt class level 2/3. I told my DD that it felt very easy thanks to Insanity.

Today’s workout was cardio recovery and I might spin to one of the pre-mixes from Cathe’s DVD. I weighed myself yesterday morning and was down 2 more pounds.
I must have been retaining water on Monday.

Lori, I will be putting puzzle mats in my garage once my DH moves his pool table out.
The floor has carpet but it is on top of concrete. I can’t wait!

Hi to Garance and Deb and Joan,

Josie

Good evening!

Came home and did the heavy bag workouts on MMA and Hard Strikes. Works out to just over 30 minutes. I feel so strong after doing this.

Josie...I think that is great that you are practicing for retirement! :)

Deb...I think that is funny that you would get a book you have already read. I have done something similar. Great that you keep a list. I buy mine from Amazon and every now and then I will select a book to purchase and thankfully it will say "you purchased this book on...." I just shake my head when this happens.

Garance...I hear you about your knees and know I will eventually need to step back on the hi impact. I am already noticing it here and there. One of the reasons why I am loving the cushion of the puzzle matts.

Have a great night!

I'm finally alive again. I had two weeks of flu/cold and then almost a week of the virus. Haven't done much of anything. I only got one week of the rotation in before I was too tired and sick to workout.

If this makes me immune during tax season I will not be mad but otherwise it was a pain. Will try to catch up on reading posts.

Joan

Good morning and TGIF!!

Just finished x-Train Bi's & Tri's Burn Sets...really like these Burn Set workouts a lot.
This day cannot be over soon enough for me. What a long stink'n week.

Lori, I am going to try to put my puzzle mat set up back this weekend...maybe it will take away some of the dread of the cardio workouts in this series. I need to buy a rug though first.

Garance, I agree with you on Tabatizize...I may look at trying one or two...buy of course when you modify, it basically defeats the point of them I think. She should have included a low impact version as a pre-mix...

Josie, LOL practicing for retirement is a good thing! I may join you July 1. Scary though. I am not sure about that yet.

Lori, I only purchase books if I cannot get them at the library, or free from B&N or Amazon and they are something I really want to read.. I just can't justify it when there are free ones around, unless it is a real book that I would like to keep for a particular reason. I probably read 2 books a week.

Joan, glad you are feeling better...did you get a flu shot?

No class tonight, I plan to relax and maybe watch an epi of Downton Abbey....nice..

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

take care,
