Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 1/22

I remember many versions of Morning glory muffins. this latest one was in the newspaper a couple weeks ago. I know they had grated carrot and apple ... and the coconut oil. my oil is so rock solid I need a sturdy knife to scrape it out of the bucket. I don't like to "cook" in the micro. heat and reheat, yes. and not in plastic containers.
No question some dog breeds are easy and some are pretty tough.
aunt's dog was a golden lab and was very well trained. all went to crap in a few months of letting him get away with anything. he was trained to walk on a lead, sit, stay, come. we felt bad when he got hit by a car but it was a busy road and he ran away from her right into oncoming traffic. he lived but the surgical fix was expensive.

Carolyn, my shoulder was referred to as "impingement". I think by "hiking it up" I kept something out of alignment. when I learned to relax and keep it in line, it settled down. my opinion only. it took almost a year. I haven't had any more issues but am more careful.

we did log rolling and log splitting today. upper body for sure. about 2 hours of medium level stuff.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did a Walk Fit workout on the treadmill. We finally finished the last season of Suits, and watched the first episode of this new season. Good she has DVR.

Valerie, my cousin has had shoulder problems with both, and surgery on both, but still has issues with them. She is not one to rest up or do PT faithfully. Log rolling and splitting is an upper body workout for sure. :)

Carolyn, that sounds like an interesting premix for Cardio Slam. There are so many varieties of premixes with this series. Is your door an older one? Sometimes online is the only source for odd or older hardware.

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the collagen, yes some dogs are definitely harder to train than others.

Agility class this morning, no other plans for me...

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a 90 minute Spinerval and a short ab workout. I'm going to avoid upper body workouts for a while. I think I'm going to need to do some more "active rest" days and hopefully start a new rotation on Monday the 6th instead of this coming Monday.

Deb-Great job with the Walk Fit workout! I couldn't get into the chiropractor yesterday so I made an appointment for Monday morning.

Valerie-I agree, shoulder issues seem to take a long time to resolve. I have my annual physical coming up in March so I will ask my doctor about it. When I was having low back issues a couple of years ago he wrote a prescription for physical therapy so maybe he will do that again. From what you describe, I think my shoulder issue is similar to yours.

Carolyn-Great job with the S & S workouts! I hope to be back to them next week.

Lori-I'm glad Nilla is better. Nice job using the blue firewalker. I'm going to have to move up to that one eventually.

Diane Sue-Great workout and calorie burn! Cardio Slam + ICE Low Impact Sweat sounds like a good combo.

Today is a rest day for me. I went to the hair salon and visited with friends. Now I am just resting.

Diane Sue, I agree with you about the microwave and food quality. My preference is to melt the coconut oil in a bowl of hot water if I have time.

Deb, my door will be a new one but I will need to order the lock/handle set. I found a couple just need to make a decision.

Hello to everyone.

Good evening ladies...

Yesterday was a rest day. I had an early morning doctors appt. Was thinking about working out at lunch but just never got to it. Today I did Power Jump 41. This is my favorite of all right now. When finished I still felt energitice so added on an electric section from another power jump. Time was 62 minutes and 575 calories! I was a sweaty mess when done. I used my new jumpsport for this and loved it. I adjusted the cords to the firmest setting which is what is best for the powerjumps. I'll use this one for those workouts and the larger with the bar for SB. My son is here for the weekend so it was nice to have this second one upstairs already. I already am glad I have the 2nd.

The lunch ladies have committed to start Monday but no one really has time. We have been so crazy busy. I suggested we do some JS shorter workouts. I was able to find some nice little 10 to 15 min workouts. Thought this would be good to get the ladies going again with some shorter workouts. 15 mins is better than nothing! Then as the weather gets nicer I am sure we will be back to our full 30 min ones.

Deb...yes the trainer will meet with us for a while before we take her home. We get daily updates and todays picture she looks like she has grown!!! Can't wait to pick her up! Yeah on finishing the season of suits. Seems like you have been trying to do this for a while! How many more seasons?

Judy...hoping the chiropractor helps. I hate when I am so uncomfortable and need to avoid working my upper body. Hoping all is better soon. Great you are able to still do spinervals and lower body. The blue firewalkers are tough! But from all the barre I do it has helped me to graduate to them. They are far from easy and I really feel the burn.

Carolyn...hope you find the handle for your door. I like cardio slam with out the mat. One of these days I will try it with it!

Valerie...our coconut oil is the same right now. Rock solid. We leave it on the counter for easy access and in the summer it is liqiud. My husband cracks up. I have never had a morning glory muffin but I think I would really like them. They sound delicious. I NEVER use plastic to heat in a microwave. I am actually a fanatic about it. Everyone at work crack up but they are used to me now. That sounds like some workout.

Diane Sue...awesome workouts!! Good for you. Bet it felt great! I love the pull ups in SB bounce workouts. You sit on the trampoline under the bar, stretch your legs out or keep them bent for slightly easier, then pull your body up. For me it is harder than it looks.

Have a great night all!

Today, I wanted to check out the format of Strong and Sweaty PHA training. I did the whole workout but upper body was much lower weight and I did not do the release push ups or the pullovers. I subbed some hammer curls and triceps kickbacks for the push ups and I did delt flys for pull overs 2 sets then a set of reciprocating lawn mowers. I was trying to find what I thought would get the heart pumping a bit more. Very light on lying triceps extensions at 8 and 10# and one set of dips with a dumbbell in my lap. This was 44 minutes, 237 calories. I did not take time for anything else. My grandson came over to clean up leaves for us and help with some things on the car. My husband is having him help change filters and oil on the car so that he knows how to do these things himself. We had to stop at 2 to go to my grandson, now 6 birthday party at a bounce place. It is always fun watching all of the children. He got an awful lot of presents. 48 guests. My husband and I were laughing at one of the little boys eating a green icing cupcake. It was all over his face. My granddaughter went to get him a napkin and when her back was to him he picked up the bottom of his shirt to wipe his face off.

Valerie, I would think the carrots, apples, other fruit and nuts in morning glory muffins would be pretty healthy. I saw a recipe that used applesauce in them. I was thinking that I would have changed the sugar to coconut palm sugar since it has a lower glycemic index.

Debbie, good job getting the Walk Fit workout in. I hope that agility class went well today.

Judy, maybe another week of resting the shoulder will help. Hopefully the chiropractor is helpful.

Carolyn, finding the right hardware for the doors is not always easy. Our last home was so old and trying to find the right hardware to keep things authentic was hard. It cost us a lot for new locks for the many exterior doors. We needed a rustic almost black looking locks and door knobs to work. We have to replace a bath door. I accidentally put a hole in the door. It is small but not good on a wood door to fix. My husband had taken it off to wood glue the bottom that was coming loose. I moved it because he had it balanced on the rebounder and a vanity bench with clamps on it. I picked it up out of my way and it fell and knocked over the vanity stool, The iron leg on the stool put a hole in it. I am not pleased with myself over it.

Lori, your description of the pull ups sounds like how Amy does it. I later put my bar on my dip station that I used to have and did the pull ups from under it so that I was kind raised up higher from where I was holding but my legs were straight out in front of me. I always started in a seated position on the floor. I bet you will be happy when you get Gigi back. That is nice that you can see pictures while she is gone. That is cool that you can tighten up the bungies on the Jumpsport. One of the things about the Bellicon is you have to purchase a whole new set of bungie cords for it depending on what tightness that you want.
