Happy New Year!

We did end up going out for Indian food last night and it was really nice.

Valerie, I chose the Forester for the same reason...it looked more like an SUV. The Outback ( at least the 2008) looked more like a short station wagon. I hope you didn't have a lot of noise/fireworks last night. Have you tried any of the S&S workouts yet? I've done 4/5 and have not seen any traditional type step moves or combinations. Maybe it is used in Bootcamp, which is the one I have not done that has cardio.

Carolyn, sounds like you did a good premix of Rock'm. How old are your daughters?

Diane Sue, an out of town lunch with friends sounds really nice. I sympathize with you on the sleep...I can't seem to get more that 4-5 hours at most.

Lori, great that your son visited and helped move the JumpSport so you could get your workout in. Why not try Cardio Slam with the modifications?

I think I will try to start the all S&S rotation today.

Have a good day!

Good morning Deb! I have had no issues printing. Let me know if you are still unsuccessful. I would be glad to send a copy in the mail for you to have. I printed mine on a med weight stock and wire bound it. Can do the same for you. Let me know.

Deb-I didn't have any problems printing the S & S User Guide either. I'm sorry you are having a problem with it. :(

Deb, I had no problem printing the user guide either. That seems odd that you had problems. I did try just the cycle sweat one from my tablet and it printed tiny. When I used my laptop upstairs it came out great.

Lorie I just put my user guide in a folder so that I can remove pages for what I am currently doing. It does have prongs and I could use my hole punch , but liked being able to just remove the pages. How do you bind them?

Happy New Year! I hope this one is one that brings good health and healing to all of us !

Happy New Year everyone!

I also printed without a problem. I only printed the main workout pages. it was a bit fussy but for ICE I printed everything, and got lot of pages I won't use. used a lot of ink and even tho it's color coded, it's easier to have only the main workout. I put the pages in plastic sleeves and then a ring binder. different series separated with dividers.

Ha... Deb, our thoughtful neighbors ( many of them) blew off a bunch of fireworks early on and up until about 2. I go to the guest room, put a pillow my head and earplugs in and I'm good. DH stays in our room and I think gets more noise but it's his choice. I was up from about 1-2 reading a little, but I got enough sleep. we got a thin layer of snow last night and then it got cold so roads will be miserable today but we don't have to go anywhere.

I've only done the spin workout. I did ICE bootcamp yesterday. Thinking about trying Ramped up today. when they had the early clips posted, I thought the step was used in several S&S workouts. I had enough trouble with the ICE intermediate step . yesterdaywas much better than the first time. I lowered the step a notch and didn't agonize over details.

DH liked the Outback much better than the Forester in 2013. I think it's a '13 and not a '14. I didn't realize the visibility issues. the demo car probably had more high end features than the one we ordered. we got plain black cloth interior...HUGE ERROR. shows every speck. we should have gotten a trailer hitch and didn't think of it. it's been a good car but DH usually drives it. I have to go thru all kinds of gyrations to get comfortable and I still barely see over the hood. would look more closely next time.

Good morning and happy new year. We had some neighbors doing fireworks but it was not bad and did not keep me awake. I have only printed a part of the SS manual but did not have problems doing it.

Valerie, I think you are wise to lower your step and not agonize over the details. I often raise and lower my step when doing the more recent workouts. I use Cathe's height for strength moves but lower it for the cardio portions. If something gets too difficult I just try to keep moving.

Have a wonderful day.

Good afternoon all!

We had a nice evening. We watched Titanic and then Jaws. Was fun on the big screen. Think we went to bed around 11am. We both work up around 1ish..kissed and said Happy New Year then went to sleep again. Lol! And we were fine with this! :)

This morning I did a mix of workouts. My son is still here so needed to make the best of my light weights. I did JS 20 min arms, then my jumpsport workout with ankle weights and 3lb dumbbells and finished with a 10 minute "electic intensive" (as they say) power jump to finish off. 53 mins, 425 calories. HR was up to 170 at one point. It was pumping! The highest I ever remember my HR was at 174 and that was doing Tabatasize.

We had neighbors with fireworks too. Didn't seem to bother us. I vaguely remember hearing them.

I like to print the complete guides. I bind them and refer to them frequently. I also have bound the Complete Cathe Compendium that a kind Cathlete has put together.

Diane Sue...I decided to order the bar for my jumpsport. Hate to spend the money but moving my jumpsport up and down I could not very well bring my fit tower up too (which worked perfectly downstairs with heavy weights to anchor). Was just too much moving stuff. Today I would have liked to have done SB bounce but you really need that supported bar. Oh well. I will love it once I have it so it really is not a waste of money right? :p

Deb...I really did enjoy Cardio Slam as I did it. The moves were doable for me (just not the side jumping splits). I love a challenge so going to do it again but not soon after a power jump workout. That is what did me in. My legs felt like lead towards the end. Glad you had a nice evening and did go to your favorite restaurant. How are you feeling today? Still better I hope.

Have a great afternoon all!

Lorie, that is nice that you have the spring binding. One year a fitness friend sent our whole group workout log books all spiral bound like that. She made them herself. I loved it. That was a nice Christmas surprise. Do you do those power jump workouts with the ankle weights? You may have said before, but how heavy do you use? You will love having the bar for the Jump Sport. The way mine hooks onto my Urban Rebounder is not as secure to pull against with my body weight. I kept having to adjust so it didn't feel like I was going to break something. It locks in but is not sturdy. I can see dragging the Fit Tower and weights up and down stairs would be a lot of effort for a short amount of time.

Valerie, the sleeves are a really good idea for the guide. I usually do color but I am almost out of colored ink so I did black and white for now. Dividers is a good idea. I skipped the Front and back page and the table of contents and equipment pages. I just did not feel like it was necessary for me to print them since I don't use them. I use the download on my google drive for looking up stuff ahead of time. We had a quiet New Years Eve. I went to bed at 10:30 and woke up around 5 this morning. Wearing earplugs and a pillow to try to sleep through the noise does not sound pleasant. I do think there is quite a bit of step in Strong and Sweaty. You can skip it on the Cardio Slam and also the cardio segments on Bootcamp if you do not want to do them.

I did a mile on the treadmill as a warm up and then a Ramped up pre mix. triceps and biceps. I did the first move with Cathe's weight but quickly reconsidered and downgraded. it is a superset with a series of moves working the same muscle group with different exercises. she did it with 15, 12, 10, and I did the first move with 15 but then dropped to 10 for the rest and I think I will feel it tomorrow. I didn't have trouble with the 10's but 15's would have been a thrash. it was a lot of focus on two muscle groups. I had to turn off the music. I also had an issue with the premix screen being shifted so far to the right I could not see the times completely. the screen was cut off between minutes and seconds. weird.

diane sue, I went thru the guide and selected only the pages for the main workout to print. I tried tell it to print specific page numbers but it didn't work right and printed the wrong ones. Our neighbors are all at least 50 years old but act like 7. I have no idea why adults want to blow up rockets and make enough noise to keep everyone awake for miles around, this is BIG stuff, and illegal but no one works too hard to stop them. we are outside the city and really, no recourse. except earplugs.

I am good with the step... there have been enough workouts that use one. I've always skipped it before. feels good that I can do it now, even if not 100%.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did S&S Bootcamp. This was good, but tough and I needed to do lot of modifications. I am glad that Cathe showed a modification for most of the high impact moves.

Lori, thanks for the offer of the guide...I'll let you know...I was able to print it from my iPad, so looks like there is something going on with my version of Adobe on my desktop. I only usually print the rotations, then refer to the guide on the computer for any other info. Not sure I can visualize what you did with the Cathe bar and the Jumpsport...

Valerie, sorry you had to have those fire crackers on New Year's Eve. I am surprised with a 5 acre lot that you can still hear them.

Carolyn, same here on the step height. I liked using 2 risers for the weight moves, but had a tough time using 2 of them for the cardio in Bootcamp. Next time I will do the whole thing with 1 riser.

Diane Sue, yes, hope we all have a better 2017. :).

A workout, then some HouseMax ...no class tonight...Yay!

Take care,

Good Morning,
Today I did Strong and Sweaty Bootcamp. I kept the two risers and modified many of the high impact cardio moves like box jumps and squats in a box. A couple of the exercises that used the barbell felt ackward to me like the rear lunge with overhead press and the crossover top clean and press. I did those on the floor instead of step. I like this workout overall now that I have done it once.

Hello to everyone.

Indian reservations all around here sell big firecrackers. ( many are illegal ) even legal ones supposedly must be used on reservation land, but people buy tons .. hundreds of dollars worth... and take them home for the 4th and new years eve. different communities have outlawed them but we live "out in the county" and really, people can get away with almost anything. some is professional level explosive devices. it sounds like a war zone. we are on 5 acres but some sounds must carry 5 miles at least!! it's very hard to tell where loud noises come from, especially when there is a scattering of people all over, doing it about the same time...... and it's dark out. almost impossible to report to law enforcement, and almost impossible for them to determine who and where. we deal with it, but unfortunately there are a few who blow them off other times of the year too. I don't like it. nothing much to be done about it.

I like to put workouts (and recipes) in clear plastic sleeves. it keeps things in much better shape although it's a pain to pull paper in and out to change recorded weight. the sleeves have holes for a ring binder, so I don't have to punch holes in the pages. for ICE I ended up with way too much paper. I haven't looked at the entire Ramped up disk. the arrangement of the premix was tough.
Deb, you have done really well, ripping right into this series. I did what both you and Carolyn said, strength moves with 2 risers, cardio with one. I thought I'd get sore but didn't, just as I thought bi/tri workout yesterday would hurt today, but it's not.

Lori I'm not sure I even want to know what a side jumping split is.

No workout today. I had planned to do Cycle Sweat today again, but was sick all night. I think I may have eaten something bad. It may have been the salad mix that I just opened. It hit me suddenly at 11 last night and by 2:30 I was vomiting. I was up most of the night. I am feeling better this morning but still a little nauseated. I guess a workout will have to wait till tomorrow.

Valerie, I previewed Ramped Up Upper body. I thought it's regular format was by body part. I didn't realize it was done in supersets. I previewed the disc because someone had said some Ramped upper body had come in with preaching on it. I decided I had better preview all of the discs. I see the entire times on the download. I guess I should go back and look at my printouts. My older Windows 7 laptop does a better job of printing things correctly. It is probably that I understand how it works better than the Windows 8. There are many adults out there that are immature and probably will be that way their whole lives or until they are so old they are not able to do those things. I think they generally do not do a lot with the fireworks even in the city. For one thing they would have to police every few homes to check out those fireworks. Even when they are not allowed in the city. My husband would not let the children even do small things like sparklers because he said we were to be examples. When we have done 4th of July camp outs and it was a legal place to do some fireworks with the children then it was okay, and not the illegal fireworks.
I should do the sleeves with recipes that I print. I have 3 different binders with recipes, but I also have a stack of printouts in my cabinet that I sometimes have to go through for certain recipes. I have a binder of recipes I created, one is desserts and breads, the other is dinners and meals.

Deb, I just did an update a couple of weeks ago on my Adobe Reader on the computer that I used. Maybe that is it. Although it seems that your computer would have mentioned an update needed. I am glad you got it on your ipad. I did like that Cathe showed modifications on the Bootcamp workout.

Carolyn, I thought that some of the barbell moves did look uncomfortable. I will be avoiding the overhead stuff for quite awhile once I get the go ahead.

diane sue, it might just be the premix I did, one of the timesaver ones. it was about 40 min including warm up and stretch. a series of tricep moves ( 3 or 4) and then repeated them, then a series of bicep moves and repeated those, including some band work. I think that would make it a super set. my arms were spent by the time I was done and did NOT match Cathe's weight.
take care of yourself...

we got to do sparklers ( supervised) and "snakes" and that was it. all the aerial bombs and explosions were a surprise for me and if anything, it's gotten worse over the years.

Good morning ladies,

Today is a rest day. All the jumping the past couple of days made my legs a little tired. Plus I did not sleep well at all. My son broke up with his GF last night. I am devastated as I loved her like a daughter. They have been together for over 6 years. I am hoping they mend things up but it sounds unlikely. Of course I will be there for my son and support his decision. It still hurts though. They always seemed so perfect for eachother. I am so sad. Guess this explains a lot as to why he wanted to move back.

Deb...I put my trampoline up against the tower with one side of the tower feet under it. I then put heavy weight on both sides to prevent it from moving when I tug on it. It actually worked out well. Glad I bought the appropriate bar though. Have a feeling I will be moving it up and down a lot now. I decided to try out the S&S rotation. So it is good today is a rest day. Tomorrow will be day 1 for me. I will plan to jump on the cycle days.

Diane Sue...I use 1.5 ankle weights for the jumpsport and SB workouts but lately just hand weights only for the powerjumps. I was using only 1lb for these and the calorie burn is about the same using them or not for the power jumps. Mainly because with weights I jump a little slower. Without I am a speed demon! I am looking forward to the bar. Yesterday I saw some posts about her new bounce dvd and it actually made sense to buy it anyways.

Valerie...I would contact customer service about that dvd. I have read there have been some issues with some Great you are enjoying your step. I have 2 full steps and the high step. One of the platforms I use for pushups and is always readily available. I need that extra lift for my shoulder. Di you buy the entire S&S? If yes the moving splits are in Cardio Slam.

Carolyn...I liked that BC moved right along. I had some soreness the next day and was pleasantly surprised.

Have a great afternoon all!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did S & S Boot Camp. I used a 20 lb body bar and 5, 10, & 12 lb dumbbells. I modified several moves but still got a great workout. I'm very happy with S & S so far. I'm glad that I decided to do the rotation.
We finished painting the living room. As usual, it ended up being a bigger project than we anticipated. We started on Saturday around noon and worked all afternoon and most of the evening. Sunday we started around 11 and finished around 6. We're glad it's done and are planning on painting the dining room and kitchen next.

Deb-I'm really glad Cathe showed modifications for Boot Camp. I also think I will use one riser the next time I do it.

Carolyn-I agree about the two moves with the barbell. I did the clean & press move on the floor too.

Diane Sue-I'm sorry you were sick last night :( I hope you are feeling better and able to do a workout tomorrow.

Valerie-that's a good idea to use plastic sleeves for the workout sheets. I use the plain folders with holes then put those into binders. We heard some fireworks on New Year's Eve, but nothing like what you had. They tend to be worse in the summer around here.

Lori-I'm so sorry about your son and his GF :( 6 years is a long time. That's great that you are trying the S & S rotation too.

Judy

Judy that is the way to do it... once you get all the supplies, and in "paint mode" just do all of it. it is so much fresher looking when you're done.
I got a box of clear plastic sleeves at Costco for a few dollars and I have used the heck out of them. really nice in the kitchen too, so even if you set a recipe on a wet area, it is still OK. keeps things together and protected from everything.

I was pretty tired out from yesterday so I stuck to what I know, and did ICE total body metabolic again. I used cathe's weight on the whole thing for the first time so there is still room to grow on it.

Lori, both the cycle and the ramped up dvds show the same way. it's like the screen is pushed too far to the right. I lose the last digits on the times for the pre mixes. I might let CS know. I expect it's because my TV and DVD player are pretty old. REALLY old!! that is too bad about your son.... 6 years is a long time. maybe things will look different in a while .... absence making the heart grow fonder and all that.... and they can reconcile. Yes, I bought the whole series but am a little slower getting into it. we will be gone next week so I will need to take a break anyway.
