Pentagenarians & Beyond: June 22, 2025

we did our usual trail ride this morning. 1 hr 20 minutes, 15 miles.

DH is swollen but otherwise feeling half way decent. he was born with fairly crummy teeth and didnt get good care as a child. both he and his older sister have similar problems with unexplained abscesses and infections. he takes extremely careful care of his teeth but always some kind of dental issue. seems to be settling down now.

just had a deer family strolling thru our yard with twin fawns. omg they were cute, jumping and frolicking all over. i get so mad when they eat my plants, but they are so cute i cant stay mad for long.

Today I did CDorner Arms with Bands (mini loop) 22 minutes, 118 calories, heart rate 117/ 147 followed by CDorner 80's Aerobics high or low impact 40 minutes, 261 calories, heart rate 136/159. Total time 62 minutes, 379 calories, 4,451 steps. I also added some stretching while watching a youtube on movements that should probably not be done with osteoporosis. Yesterday I did not get a workout in. I went with my husband to drop off his car for some work and we ran to a pet store and lunch while waiting.
I was reading posts and the power went out. We had a heavy rainstorm come through. The power went out after the storm.

Cathy, nice that you got stretch max in before going out and shopping.

Carolyn, good job on Perfect Pump Lower Body and the extended stretch.

Judy, nice work on this morning's 30-minute Peloton Power Zone Ride and tonight's 30 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength.

Valerie, I think the spine is supposed to move some, but some moves end up being more than it should be. The video I was watching mentioned superman probably being not good. The demo though had a woman really going up high with the upper and lower body though. Also getting carried away with Russian twists.
I feel for your husband. Every time I got a temporary crown it would fall off at least once.

Today I did Rev’d Up Rumble, 41 minutes, 255 calories burned, average heart rate 128, and maximum heart rate 160. I had several interruptions but I managed to finish it.

Valerie, nice job with the road ride. I’m glad that your husband felt up to doing it.

Cathy, nice job with Stretch Max with bands before you shopped.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Arms with Bands and 80s Aerobics.

Hello to Judy. Have a great day everyone.

diane sue that was my take on it too. movement is good but not too much ,especially fast and with weights. the supermans feel wrong and even before my surgery i didnt like them. i do more stretches now and when using weights i do mostly moves where my back is supported. i need to respect the network of metal rods in there now. i do up and down with cat/cow but the sideways i am careful with.

another dust up with my sister. when the power has gone out, sometimes electronics need a reset. this is standard for electronics! unplug for 5 min, replug and let it reset. she has a phone and a new oven not working right. you would think I asked her to walk across Death Valley barefoot. I am so ready to totally block her and never speak to her again. Her landline phone is not old, maybe 2 yrs. . she just went thru problems because of a power out. she led me to believe she had done this unplug procedure but she lied. she switched handsets! not the same thing. what she wants is a new phone.... that she wont know how to use so it's my problem to figure out for her.

now she says she cant reach the wall plug because its too hard to get to, behind furniture, boxes, blah blah blah. if i got her a new phone it would need to plug into the same spot, but somehow that's ok. its ok if i shop for, pay for and send her a new phone that she wont be able to set up herself anyway, just so she doesnt have to unplug her current one. makes perfect sense to me. I have offered to buy a plug bar but she doesnt want one. no clue why.
Even when I help, she is obstinate and fights every part of the solution. her new stove probably has the same problem. getting her to flip the breaker on and off is "too much" for her to do. DH and I have "fixed" our oven multiple times. when the power is interrupted or flickers, this can happen.

just venting. raining today, so inside workout.

Today I did the Live PHA from this week. It used the high step which rarely ever gets used. Weather has been all over the place yesterday. Sun, rain, sun, some more rain...repeat. All in a few hours. No rain in the forecast for today which is good because we've had enough. I woke up this morning to see a message from Derek that they were under a tornado warning so he was in the bathroom. Did he send an all clear message, no. So, I was then searching and found out that the tornado came down east of Bismarck.

Valerie it would be so cute to watch fawns playing. We get some deer coming into our yard, but it's so leafed out that the only evidence is generally hoof prints and other gifts they leave behind. Sorry you are having to deal with your sister again. Some people just can't be helped.

Diane Sue arms with mini loops sounds interesting. I often skip Superman's and do something else. It's one of those things my body doesn't like.

Judy I'm glad the flooding didn't impact you. There's been a lot of flooding in the state lately, that just hits a specific area while the surrounding areas may get far less rain.

Carolyn good for you continuing your workout through interruptions. It's not always easy to refocus.

Cathy the best place to see deer is suburbs. people in the neighborhood who feed them, something i dont agree with, but cant stop. i rode by a deer the other day on my bike. she barely even looked up when passed maybe 10 fee away. they are sitting ducks when hunting season opens. we have a lot of deer here and most does have young, twins are common. we have to spray some ornamental plants so they dont eat them to the ground. not predictable what they like from year to year.

i know I cant change my sister but i dont expect to get this much pushback when she needs to do something like unplug a phone.
we walked the park this morning, an hour and 20 minutes. doing deer spray this afternoon. it lasts for a while until it rains a lot of there isa lot of new growth.

Today is my rest day. I forgot to mention the meteor/meteorite that was seen across the southeast on Thursday afternoon. It actually came down not far from here. Some of the debris knocked a hole in a man’s roof and fell into his house. I heard the loud explosion like sound, but it was in the distance and I didn’t think much about it. I was very surprised when I learned what it was. NASA confirmed that it was a meteorite.

Valerie, I’m sorry that you are having to deal with your sister and a minor problem.

Cathy, nice job with Live PHA.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Today I did CDorner 30 minute Advanced Step, 174 calories, heart rate 126/145, 2202 steps followed by CDorner 12 Days of Abs day 4 Lower abs, 14 minutes, 41 calories. Total time 44 minutres, 215 calories. I also did LMR bonus yoga with the yoga blocks. Careful of the back. I altered a bit.

Yesterday our power kept going out so I did Boss Bands that I have downloaded on my tablet. I skipped chest and core after looking at the movements. That was 55 minutes, 213 calories. I also did Perfect 30 bonus stretch which I had on my tablet which was 8 minutes. The power outage was terrible as it would come back on for 10 minutes and suddenly go out again. I took a cold shower after the workout which was not bad since it is also hot and humid with no air working. My laptop was trying to do an update and messing up big time. It told me not to shut down. It finally started working correctly this morning after I fixed some things because my saved things were all off the screen that I use all of the time.

Valerie, I never liked the superman moves and generally would only lift up a little. That would be all that was necessary in my opinion to strengthen the back a little. A lot of the time I will just do front lift a couple inches off the floor or just legs off the floor. I am sorry that your sister does not even try to help herself. That is a lot of strain on you, and she should be thankful for your help. Nice that you got a walk today.

Carolyn, good job on Rev'd up and Rumble yesterday. Enjoy your rest day today. That is interesting that a meteorite hit.

Cathy, nice work on Live PHA. The weather has been all over the place here too. Thursday we had a heavy thunderstorm and later the power went out and came back on at midnight. Yesterday I woke up and did not realize we had no power again till I tried to turn on the bath light and then realized I could here the neighbor's generator come on. I checked and saw my husband must have got home with power on a 5:30 in the morning, so it had to have stopped soon after. My eldest daughter always texts me to give me a heads up that tornado are in my area. I usually know because my cell puts out a loud alarm.
That mini loop band workout left me with sore arms and shoulders. Then the Boss Bands added to it the next day.
