Pentagenarians & Beyond: July 27, 2025

Friday I did Live PHA Supersets-No Repeats. Yesterday I did a 45-minute Peloton ride and 40 minutes of Arms & Light Weights. Today I did a 45-minute Peloton ride. I plan on getting outside this afternoon for a walk. Starting tomorrow I will be doing an active rest week. Our half bath remodel starts Wednesday morning and should be done by Aug 6th. Our new bedroom furniture will be delivered soon too. We are trying to have it scheduled for after the remodel. It’s going to be a hectic week or two here.

Valerie-Great job with your therapy work and stacked upper body, and the park walk. I’m sorry about the medicine.

Diane Sue-Great job with LMR Total Body and CDorner Upper Body stretch. I’m sorry about the doctor visit, that sounds like an unpleasant day.

Cathy-Great job with Live Rock ‘m Shock ‘m KB and Live Metabolic Bootcamp. I hope your internet is working better now.

Carolyn-Great job with JS One Mile of Motivation and STS 2 Mat Yoga.

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes. It’s an easy standing yoga/mobility routine that I enjoy. I didn’t realize that Cathe’s Road-trip was this weekend until I saw a post on Facebook Friday. It looks like a fun and exhausting weekend.

Judy, great job with Live PHA Supersets, Peloton ride, and Arms & Light Weights. Your remodeling projects seem to be progressing nicely.

Hello to Valerie, Cathy, and Diane Sue.

We rode the trail this morning for 15 miles an hour and 15 minutes. lovely out this morning. trail is so much nicer to ride since the covid business has settled down. gradually a lot of temporary people stop coming and it makes it a nicer ride. still plenty of people but mostly people familiar with the very minor rules that keep it safe for everyone. We dont really "know"anyone but you see familiar faces regularly if you ride about the same time. keeping dog and kids under control and staying to the right side and saying something when passing on the left are the only real rules.
judy good luck on the project. any thing with contractors and supplies is bound to make things unsettled for a time. hope all goes smoothly.

carolyn judy cathy, diane sue shannon hope your weather is not as unpleasant as it sounds. the midwest and southeast sure are getting hammered this year. i think that applies to everyone but me here.
DH is getting his knee surgery tomorrow if all goes as planned. i may take a few days off from posting.

Today I did ICE Rock’m Sock’m timesaver for 35 minutes and 250 calories burned. My average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 161.

Valerie, I hope that everything goes well with your husband’s surgery. And yes, our weather is very unpleasant right now.

Hello to Judy, Cathy, and Diane Sue.

Today I did CDorner Total Body Light Weight All Standing workout, 30 minutes, 203 calories, heart rate 141/169, 1,387 steps. I then did LMR Cardio Bonus, 14 minutes, 102 calories, heart rate 145/166 and finished off with Kelly's 20 minute stretch, 21 minutes, 48 calories. Total time 64 minutes, 353 calories. I have another busy week. Getting ready for a nephew and family to come and visit this weekend. Yesterday I did not feel well and pretty much just sat around all day.

Today I did STS 2 Supersets Total Body, express 2 sets. That was 50 minutes, 108 calories burned, average heart rate 99 and maximum heart rate 125. Today is another dangerously hot day with temperatures near 100 degrees.

Diane Sue, good job with CDorner Total Body Light weights and LMR Cardio bonus.

Hello to Judy, Cathy, and Valerie.

Everything went great yesterday. he only needed a partial knee. with the drive and pre op stuff it took most of the day. got home around 4. he was unsteady yesterday until he figured out that his knee had to stay straight. it folded a couple times. getting into the house from the garage was almost a disaster but i caught him when his leg folded again. i held him in place until he could get his good leg under him. thank you cathe for strength training! using a walker and vastly better today. still confined to flat spaces with a walker. we need to be careful not to do too much too soon. PT comes tomorrow. in-home PT for 2 weeks is part of the whole procedure. it gets people moving right away. no problem with him!. his leg looks great. almost no swelling and not much pain. the spinal block is still partly in effect so it might feel worse before it feels better. i am getting a lot of activity in even if not formal exercise. lots ofup and down stairs. weather is dry and sunny and lovely.

Ok, so I never sent the first part of this. LOL

Saturday I didn't work out. DH left early and was gone all day hanging out with a friend, so I did fun stuff like move stuff out of the living room and dining room and steam mop and clean and reorganize the kitchen counters. Yesterday I did the Live from the roadtrip Saturday morning, Metabolic Conditioning. Today I did ICE Body Weight and Bands. Going to be another hot one here.

Yesterday I did Body Weight and Bands. In the afternoon, with only having some steady rain, and no wind, the power went out. Out from about 2 till almost 8 and of course it was a hot day. Plus around the same time our internet got worse, which meant mostly unusable and it was wi-fi, but at times even cell service barely worked. After spending nearly an hour on the phone with them the other day I opted not to try to call. I did manage to wade through the app and find out that it was a known problem.

DH had to go down near Detroit today for a site meeting, so I did STS 2 Total Body Stretch, using the disk, then did some stuff in the yard and some odds and ends. This afternoon met my parents and sister at my brothers for a few hours. That went far better than expected as we had to get my Mom up and down the steps. My sister is now on her way back to NC, stopping for the night in OH. She won't be coming back for awhile or staying with them if she does as her being there was too much for my Mom.

Valerie I'm glad that your husband's surgery went well. I hope his recovery goes well. The temps have not been kind here with heat warnings as we've had our real feel temps around 100+ a few days.

Judy I hope the rest of your remodeling projects go smoothly.

I had my annual mammogram this morning so no workout today.

Valerie, I’m glad that the surgery went well. I’m sure that his recovery will go well. The PT at home is good to get him moving correctly.

Cathy, great job with the Live Road-trip workout, Body Weight and Bands, and STS Total Body Stretch. It’s good that you could visit with your family.

Hello to Diane Sue and Judy.

well, let me say......... the honeymoon was over quickly with the knee! after taking off the ace wrap and the support hose it swelled a bit and got very sore. the spinal block wore off as it will for everyone, but some people it's quick, while others it may not wear off for 2 days. this is what the directions told us to expect. you always think you will be the exception ans it wont hurt. Ha! fat chance. he is still IMO moving very well and so far is sticking with mainly tylenol because he gets sick from narcotics and he cant take ibuprofen. kinda like I did for the spine surgery. i was so sick from the narcotics I didnt care how much it hurt as long as I didnt take any more of them.
he did everything for therapy today and PT is coming shortly. im sure recovery will be smooth and as fast as possible. he is so disciplined...its my job to be sure he doesnt overdo. I'm doing all the garden work which is quite a bit of work. I've done therapy and some upper body things i do several days a week but not a formal workout. i have medical appts both Thursday and friday that were made long ago but he's fine by himself. he's about done with the walker and using the crutch for stairs and for walking on the deck.

Monday I went for a short walk in the morning and had a hair appointment in the afternoon. Yesterday I didn’t do anything, it was a total rest day. I had a chiropractor appointment in the morning and did some shopping with my husband. The contractors started today. They only did the demolition work so they were done by noon. This afternoon I did LMR Functional Pilates Fusion.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga, Rock’m Sock’m timesaver, and STS 2 Supersets Total Body. I didn’t realize it was the road trip weekend until I saw it on FB either. It did look fun and exhausting.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Total Body Light Weight All Standing workout, LMR Cardio Bonus, and Kelly’s 20 minute stretch. I’m sorry you weren’t feeling well. I hope you are feeling better.

Cathy-Great job Metabolic Conditioning, ICE Body Weight and Bands and STS 2 Total Body Stretch. I’m sorry about your power outage and internet issues. I’m glad that the visit with your family went better than expected.

Valerie-I’m glad your husband’s surgery went well. It sounds like he will recover quickly. It's been very hot and humid here this week so far. I won't complain too much as I know I'll be missing this weather in January. Cold tends to bother me more than heat.

Today I did LITE Strong Body Stacked Sets: Upper with extended stretch #2, 53 minutes, 181 calories, heart rate 98/139. I did slightly lower on some of the weights on this one. I skipped pushups. I am getting things ready for company so have been busy. Planning sleeping arrangements and prepping some meal items ahead.

Yesterday morning I got up and used a DVD to do C&W cardio only, then decided after breakfast I'd do Fit Tower Boot Camp. So, I pulled out my tower to start setting up. It's been a few years since I used it with the bar on it, and I've just been using it to hold my barbell. Well one of the sides kept slipping out of place. I tried tightening the screw that already pretty tight and that didn't help and I couldn't see any visual problem when comparing with the other one. So, I started trying to adapt with other equipment. Then my sister asked if I could give her a call, and I said I was going to workout, but I was having so many problems I tossed it in and gave her a call. Today I shopped and tomorrow I'm doing the zoo, since I didn't do it on Tuesday. With luck, I'll wake up early enough to do something.

Valerie I'm glad that your husband seems to be progressing well. When Nick's pain killers from his broken foot surgery wore off he was in extreme pain, and nothing we had would touch it and they couldn't get me connected to anyone who would help. Finally towards morning his doctor called me. I basically sat up with him all night and we went through every major on NMU's site because he hadn't decided yet he was a sophomore. Just trying to keep him distracted. Sounds like you are getting plenty of workouts in with the garden work.

Diane Sue enjoy your company.

Judy I hope your remodeling project doesn't impact you too much.

Hi Carolyn.

Today I did LMR Functional Upper Body, timesaver. My time was 42 minutes with 101 calories burned, average heart rate 101 and maximum heart rate 131.

Valerie, I hope that your husband’s recovery is going well.

Judy, nice job with the walk and LMR Functional Pilates Fusion. I like that one quite a bit. I hope that this part of your remodeling project goes well.

Diane Sue, great job with Stacked Sets Upper Body and the Extended Stretch.

Cathy, good job with C&W cardio only. The problems with your Fit Tower would be very frustrating. I don’t blame you for moving on to something else!
