Pentagenarians & Beyond: August 24, 2025

This morning I did Live Time to Hiit it Low Impact and Paired Upper Body. DH left all the windows open last night and it got down to 52 outside. He never checks for morning temps. LOL I'm totally fine with leaving them open and closing them when I get up. It was 69 in the house and we're only going to 72 and sunny. It's going to be a nice week with temps cooler overnight and in the 70's during the day. My favorite temp range.

Valerie sorry you are getting so hot.

This morning I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes.

Cathy, nice job with Time to HiiT It Low Impact and Paired Upper Body. Your cool weather sounds wonderful. Enjoy it.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Valerie. Have a good day everyone.

Yesterday I did CDorner Fast Basic Step/Abs(skipped the abs), 33 minutes, 232 calories, heart rate 143/172, 3007 steps. I then did STS 2.0 Premix Express #2 no repeats Body Parts shoulders, 23 minutes, 105 calories, heart rate 106/141. I finished off with LMR restorative yoga bonus 23 minutes, 41 calories. Total time 79 minutes, 378 calories. Afterward we went out and walk mobile home sales lots in a lot of rock and gravel. My back and feet hurt by the time we left. We are considering moving out to the country on my daughter's 15-acre property. Looking at options.

Carolyn, nice work on morning yoga. I need to do some mobility or something.

Cathy, good job on Live Time to Hiit It Low Impact and paired Upper Body today. I would not be able to sleep if it was that cold at night.

we rode our regular trail ride this morning the whole 15 miles. an hour 15 minutes. normal time for us too. DH is doing so well but he is absolutely resolute on doing his exercises 3-4 times a day. because of the ride today, he wont do as many. heat is not bad where we live. cooled off last night. not as bad as we all expected!. the humidity is comfortably low too. sorry for the whining! we are still nervous about fires. everything is very dry and with it being so wet most of the year I worry people are not careful enough.

I just did a workout I put together of the bonus leg exercises from STS Meso 1. Broken nights sleep, so no early workout. Going to be a perfect day out. Sunny with a high of 68 and I can wear leggings and a long sleeve T-shirt. Yay! We've had 2 hummingbirds in major fighting mode today. They are rarely actually eating, they been having aerial battles including up above the trees.

Diane Sue I prefer it cool when I sleep. It's just add more blankets if needed.

Valerie so great that your DH is doing well with his recovery.

Carolyn I'm definitely enjoying cooler weather and we have nothing over 77 before I leave for Derek's.

Hi Judy.

No workout for me today. My husband had a neurology appointment this morning.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step/abs, Body Parts Shoulders, and Restorative yoga. That’s an interesting idea that you and your husband are considering. It’s good to have that option.

Valerie, good job with the ride. Your husband seems to be doing very well after the surgery.

Cathy, good job with your bonus leg workout.

Hello to Judy.

Yesterday I did a 30-minute Peloton ride and PT/stretching. Today I did a 60-minute Peloton ride and 30 minutes of PT work.

Cathy-Great job with Live Time to Hiit it Low Impact, Paired Upper Body and your bonus leg workout.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice. I hope your husband’s appointment went well.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step/abs, Body Parts Shoulders, and Restorative yoga.

Valerie-Great job with your ride. It’s good that your husband’s recovery is going so well.

Today I did STS2 Body Parts Legs + bonus, 58 minutes, 197 calories, heart rate 97/138. I also did CDorner Mobility Stretch day 13, 15 minutes 37 calories. Total time 71 minutes, 234 calories.
It is late again. I finally got my dog outside at midnight. It has been raining most of the day,

Another day without working out. I had another appointment this morning. On the plus side I’m giving my knee more rest. It was feeling better then I moved awkwardly and started the pain again.

Judy, great job with the Peloton rides and PT work.

Diane, nice job with STS 2 Bidy Parts Legs + Bonus an CDorner Mobility Stretch.

Hello to Cathy and Valerie.

interesting experience this morning. did shopping early, several stores and the PO. came home and started unloading the DW while starting lunch. Was putting dishes in the cabinet when i barely brushed against the shelf above with the back of my hand . I cannot reach it so only seldom used things up there. one of the plastic shelf supports ( as we found out later) snapped and the top shelf poured everything on my head. the shelf tipped on an angle. broken crockery everywhere. what a mess! my head is sore but no cuts. we have metal supports most places but this was old original and the plastic snapped off.

carolyn can you stick a brace of some kind on the knee? a reminder to be cautious with movement and support it a little more than usual? ? hope it settles down.

Today I did CDorner youtube All Standing Strength Upper, 26 minutes, 155 calories, heart rate 121/145. This was 3 rounds of 5 movements 60 sec work. I also did Cardio Fun to the Beat 31 minutes, 208 calories, heart rate 138/167. I did not check steps. The cardio was a mish mosh of low impact, some boxing, and a tabata segment. I did some stretching on my own and did not use the Garmin for it. Total time 57 minutes, 363 calories.

Valerie, how shocking that would have been. I am glad you did not get any cuts.

Carolyn, I hope your knee feels better after a break.

Judy, nice work on Sunday's 30-minute Peloton ride and PT/stretching. Today I did a 60-minute Peloton ride and 30 minutes of PT stretching and yesterday's 60 minute peloton ride and 30 minutes PT work.

Cathy, good idea putting together the bonus leg workouts from STS Meso #1. We have had 60's temperatures, but soggy weather.

Today I did Live Total Body Torch, which was a good workout, but seemed light on legs and Restorative Yoga. Yesterday was a zoo day.

Valerie what a crazy, random thing to have happen. I'm glad that you weren't badly hurt.

cathy everything that fell off the shelf hit my head in one piece but bounced off and hit the countertop or floor. totally smashed then. I dont remember brushing against the upper shelf but i had dishes for the second shelf so probably that's what triggered it. just one of those things that was working fine until it wasnt. shelf supports are these wimpy little plastic things so its not hard to see what happened. being short, i rarely used the top shelf because i cant reach it without a step stool. all ok this morning . going to ride this morning.

This morning I had to go to renew my drivers license. Because of my age I had to go in person for an eye exam and new photo. Fortunately it didn’t take long since I had done an online application.

Valerie, that’s scary to have the shelf and contents fall on you. I’m glad that you are okay. I don’t have a knee brace, but I’m going to get one. I considered it in the past just never followed through.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner All Standing Strength Upper, and Cardio Fun to the Beat.

Cathy, nice job with Live Total Body Torch and Restorative Yoga.

Hello to Judy.

Today(or Should I say yesterday) was my birthday. I did Gloved Up and Sweaty, 40 minutes, 191 calories, heart rate 109/144, 3,188 steps. I finished with CDorner Upper Body mobility stretch using a chair, 17 minutes, 43 calories. 57 minutes total, 208 calories. I did not do the low impact burpees. I am just getting better in the chest and rib area after doing yoga with too many planks and down dogs from CDorner a couple of days ago. I wish it didn't set off the costochondritis symptoms like that. I have been using a heating pad.

Cathy, nice work on Live Total Body Torch and restorative yoga.

Valerie, I am glad you are alright and hope you had a good ride today.

Carolyn, when I got my driver's license renewed it was for 8 years. I know they are changing some things by state for aging drivers. It is nice that some things like that can be taken care of online. My husband filled out stuff online for his renewal and they mailed him a driver's license. He went in anyway because he wanted a new picture on it.

This morning I did P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body. My time was 38 minutes, 113 calories burned, average heart rate 108, and maximum heart rate 131. It felt good to finally get a workout this week.

Diane, happy birthday! Great job with Gloved Up and Sweaty and CDorner Upper Body Mobility Stretch. My previous license that I renewed was for 8 years. Anyone 64 or on is required to go for an in person appointment for the eye exam. I’m glad that I completed the application online before going in.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

We found yet another project to do this week. We were at Home Depot and saw these mats:

TrafficMaster Black 42 in. x 72 in. x 0.75 in. Rubber All-Purpose Commercial Gym Flooring Mat (1 Mat/21 sq. ft. ) W-RBLKMAT42X72 - The Home Depot

We decided on a whim to replace our old puzzle mat gym floor with these. It was time to replace the puzzle mats as they were about 7 years old. I think it’s an improvement.

Tuesday I did 40 minutes of Peloton rides. Yesterday I did a 5 min row, Killer Legs from the 2023 series and another 5 min row to finish. I also did some PT work and stretching afterwards. Today we had some errands to run and I got a late start. I plan on doing a workout tonight but I haven’t decided which one yet. Maybe I’ll do the bonus work from Killer Legs.

Valerie-I’m glad you didn’t get hurt when that shelf tipped.

Diane Sue- Happy Birthday!
Great job with CDorner youtube All Standing Strength Upper, Cardio Fun to the Beat, Gloved Up and Sweaty and CDorner Upper Body mobility stretch.

Carolyn-Great job with P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body. I just looked up the requirements for Michigan and you only have to go in person to renew every 12 years. I didn’t see any age-related requirements. The last time I went in person was 2017 so I will be able to renew online this year but next time I will have to go in person.

Cathy-Great job with Live Total Body Torch and Restorative Yoga.

Today I did Killer Legs, 41 minutes, 195 calories, heart rate 108/136. I also did CDorner Stress Relief Stretch, 25 minutes 62 calories. Total time 66 minutes, 257 calories. Chris did some of the stretches in a bit more of a detailed angles. My legs did not want to go the way she was going and me able to not want to lean sideways. I just adjusted for comfort as I was afraid, I was going to twist wrong or my knee come out of joint. I skipped the feet up the wall or just relax at the end.

Carolyn, nice work on P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body today. I like those workouts because they are not too long and the moves are good. I am sure there is probably some new stuff here too on the licenses. My husband thinks it is a good thing. He saw a lot of accidents with elderly involved. We always seem short on dvm places around here. We go to tag agencies to renew. If license expires it is a pain as you have to sign up and get in line for hours to go through the process. The change over on the real id was quite a pain and took months. Hopefully if we have to get tested we do not have to drive an hour away to do it.

Judy, I like the look of those mats. My puzzle mats need to be taken out. They are 13 years old and dog claw marks. I put a large 4x8 rubber peeble mat over the top of them. I am going to save that link. It looks like you did the same workout yesterday that I did this morning. I was going to use a premix and then looked it over and decided I would just do the whole thing. Good idea doing the row before and after Killer Legs.

I did Live Total Body Band Blast today. This would make a great travel workout. Alternates low impact cardio with a band exercise.

Valerie I have the same issue with upper shelves in cupboards, but I can only put things right at the front of the second shelf. If I was designing a house for myself, I'd want the counters an inch or 2 lower and I'd bring all the cupboards down a bit, too. Of course, that's not logistically possible since appliances would all be too high, but I can dream.

Carolyn I wish they had those rules here for renewals, but there are no restrictions for age, and you just have to renew every four years and after the first four you can just do it online or by mail. Years ago when my Grandpa was late 80's, he did hit a renewal where he needed an eye test and failed it in person, but his eye doctor who was also older, told him that they were just out to get old people and wrote him an okay, and they renewed. My uncle who was a mechanic, "fixed" his car so it wouldn't run and gave him a high price to fix it, so he just stopped driving and grandma drove after that. My Mom can't see well enough to read a large print book, but she still has a drivers license because she hasn't had to go in, where they would clearly see that she's not physically capable of driving. Thankfully, she can't even get out of the house by herself, or into the car, so she can' just take off.

Judy that mat looks like a great idea if you have hard floors.

Diane Sue, I avoid the big SOS (our DMV equivalent) places and go to the small town about 1/2 an hour south. No wait. The ones in Lansing are hard to get into, though better now that more stuff is on line and they do appointments. It used to be in person could be waits of 1 1/2-2 hours plus.
