Pentagenarians & Beyond 2/27

Good morning. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. Other than that it’s my rest day. Yesterday I had planned to do yoga after the short cardio, but that didn’t work out.

Judy, great job with PHA 3, Ab Stacker, and yoga.

Valerie, Rev’d Up Rumble is a great workout with no dread.

Hello to Cathy and Diane Due. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Made it home. Long day. I'd expected dry roads, and for the most part that's what we had, but it was incredibly windy. That meant that everywhere there was loose snow along the road and open area behind it, snow was blowing! So drive the speed limit for awhile, slow down, speed back up and on and on for hours. Sometimes it was just blowing on across the road, but others it was staying put. Was very glad to have my new tires.

This morning I did Disk 16 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. Really didn't enjoy it, but I did it. LOL

Carolyn great job getting your yoga in!

This morning I did All Out Low Impact HiiT which was 39 minutes and 276 calories burned. Average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 154.

Cathy, great job with Disc 16 Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. You are moving right along with STS.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

all of a sudden it's monday. I took sunday as a day off and did garden work. raining. lots of rain. this time of year gets tedious weather-wise. some sort of indoor activity today.

cathy I agree. STS is a long committment but you are doing great.

I lost 3.6 lbs this week! obviously, this is unlikely "real" loss, so I expect to pop back up 2 lbs by next week but apparently I have gotten my fat molecules' attention. finally. I have been chugging along with a reduced intake and no results for weeks.

did a shortened spin this morning of 25 min. I had issues with the disk to start with and it killed off 15 minutes of the time I had available. plan on doing upper body weights later today.

I did My Finished Step this morning. At this point, my energy and vanished and darned if the cats aren't refusing to fetch things for me. LOL Got Derek's FAFSA done, did his taxes yesterday and tomorrow we have dentist appointments. Breaks aren't terribly fun around here! Watching the weather and seriously contemplated a one day trip on Friday. Not my preference, but it's looking iffy for Saturday and Sunday and I really don't want to do multiple hotel stays again. If someone else was paying, I'd be totally fine with that, but no one jumping in to offer.

Carolyn great job with All Out Low Impact HiiT! I really like that one.

Valerie huge Kudos on the weight loss. Great job getting in the spin workout after dealing with disk hassles. Those are always a big PITA.

Yesterday I did a 1 hour Peloton ride and tonight I did a short Peloton arm workout after work.

Valerie-Congrats on the weight loss! Nice job with the spinning too.

Carolyn-Great job with All Out Low Impact HiiT. That's one of my favorite XTrain workouts.

Cathy-Great job with STS Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps and your Step workout.

Hi to Diane Sue

I got back to the gym and did chiseled upper body and core 2. I know how weight loss works for me and there will be a gain next week and then likely another loss back to this number in another week. a pleasant surprise to finally see movement. I’ve been rigid on my diet and keeping regular workouts. My goal is drop 5 more pounds to less than my original WW goal. I am amazed at how close together the zone is for me between gaining, losing, and stable. it seems like its 200 calories or so.

I tried cycle sweat this morning. aiming for a 40 min premix even without a count down timer. Haven’t done this disk much because of that. I'm Ok with the music and will try to get used to the lack of a timer at least sometimes. I ignore the ongoing commands to raise the resistance. my bike gets more difficult quickly at first. after it (and I) are both warmed up, I have more flexibility to increase. maybe if I do this disk a few times I will get aware of what's doable and what's not.

we are finally getting to dump the landline. we need our security system upgraded because it goes thru the landline. first step. then switch the landline # to DH's phone. we have a lot of apps and info on the phone so if anything happened to it, we'd be in trouble or a state of confusion! this way we will have two phones with all the info. if a phone fails, or lost we will have backup.

cats that fetch? like Walter from the commercial?

This morning I did LiTE Metabolic Blast for 40 minutes and 232 calories burned. Average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 168.

Valerie, nice job with the spin workout, Chiseled Upper Body, and Core 2. Congratulations on the weight loss!

Cathy, great job with your Finished Step workout. Getting the FAFSA completed is a huge accomplishment. I always dreaded that form, but I understand that it is better than it was years ago.

Judy, nice job with the Peloton ride and arm workout.

Hello to Diane Sue. Have a great day everyone.

This morning I did a 45 minute Peloton ride and this afternoon I did 35 minutes of Peloton strength, 20 minutes upper body, 10 minutes lower body and 5 minutes abs/core.

Carolyn-Great job with Metabolic Blast.

Valerie-Great job with the Cycle Sweat premix.

Hi to Cathy & Diane Sue

This morning was Disk 17 Legs. That's the tri sets one. I swear leg workouts with weights get me sweatier than any cardio workout. It was 60 in the basement and towards the end I had to turn the fan on! LOL
Watching the weather as it looks like I may want to do it in one day on Friday. Not ideal for me driving or Derek as dining hall doesn't open till Sunday for lunch, so he'd have to take food along. at least he has a fridge and microwave. Depending on how Saturday looks I might be able to just go back to Mackinaw City and then drive home Saturday if it looks like the yuck won't be till afternoon. Here at home it's going to be over 50 and rainy, but it's not going to be above freezing in the north and their precipitation won't be rain.

Judy great job with the Peloton rides and upper body/core! While I hate the FAFSA, we lucked out because the first year we had to do one, was also the first year that it will pull your tax return and add all that info for you.

Carolyn nice job with LITE Metabolic Blast!

Valerie great job with Chiseled Upper Body and the cycling workout! If you want a timer is there somewhere you could put your phone with your timer running that you'd be able to see it?

Yesterday was PT and I can see a lot of improvement. I changed the mammogram and bone scan again to next month though. My arm will not move laterally to shoulder level yet. We are really working on that though. It stops just below shoulder level. The receptionist said they have that happen a lot with patients that had shoulder surgery. 10 weeks tomorrow since surgery.
Today I did CDorner basic step Easy from 2/21 keeping the right arm down. This was 31 minutes, heart rate 121/142, 145 calories, 2,210 steps. I also did Cathe chair stretch 16 minutes, heart rate 87/102, 33 calories. It helps to get up and move around. The PT keeps telling me to do regular tasks. My husband ordered me a new recliner. He thought I would be more comfortable with it, and it has massage and lumbar heat along with a remote. I have left my other one open and been climbing in and out as the buttons are on the right side and I have difficulty getting my arm over the side and down as far as the buttons. Sort of pathetic. PT in the morning. We are spending about an hour 3 days a week now.
Beautiful warm weather today. Funny though as we still have ice along the side of our fence and the front doorstep. I wiped down the outdoor counter and grill and burner and found it nice to get outside till I came in with my allergies kicked up from tree pollen.

Valerie, nice work with the weight loss. We got new cell phones and a different provider and it is taking some time getting used to the changes and difference from AT&T. I get a little worried with all of the smart home features as we have had several power outages since moving here. We even had no water one evening and had to call the water department and it was our whole area. I guess all of this building or something. We sat up a couple of weeks ago till after midnight playing cards in front of the fireplace waiting for power to come back on. It is not pleasant with no power since we now have a tankless electric water heater.

Carolyn, nice work with Lite Metabolic Blast today.

Judy, great job with Peloton ride and strength upper and abs.

Cathy, I wouldn't want to drive if it was freezing. I had my husband take me to PT last Friday, so he did not get as much sleep. There was still too much ice on the road. We had so much freezing rain along with snow, that even though it was in the 70's today that thick ice is still on the doorstep and along one fence line. My husband chipped and worked on the front for a path. No sun on the walkway.

Rain is mostly off the table for a few days. yesterday there were visible clouds of pollen flying from the cedar trees. we have dust covering everything outside. it's not allergenic but it does mess up outdoor surfaces for a week or two.
doing a shake down trip with camper. a state park about 2 hrs away with our mt bikes and staying overnight in the campground. between the camper and our truck, headaches for 2 years. everything has been fixed, replaced, tweaked and adjusted. nothing beats using it to see if anything got missed. testing before a longer trip.

diane sue... good to hear things are improving. shoulders are such complicated joints! we don't have any other joint that goes back and forth, up and down and around in a circle.
we skipped many smart house features. have security cameras at each house so we can check on conditions remotely. we have a tankless at our vacation house. love it. power outs are extremely rare there. we adjust thermostats remotely. subscribe to utube in one location. amazingly, works for both houses even though hundreds of miles apart.
security system has been a nagging concern. the current one works fine but we are tired of paying for phone and Tv service we dont need anymore. still there is "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thought. I bought a headset for my cell so I can deal with my sister and still have two hands to keyboard. trying to schedule the replacement panel right now.

This morning I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one. That was 25 minutes and 176 calories burned. Average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 147. I like to do a shorter cardio on Wednesday because of WW meetings.

Judy, great job with the Peloton ride and Peloton strength workouts.

Cathy, nice work with STS disc 17 Legs.

Diane Sue, I’m so glad that you are seeing progress from the PT. Great job with CDorner Step and Cathe Chair stretch. You will enjoy having a new recliner!

Valerie, I hope that the repairs to your camper hold up to your testing.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

I did not end up doing PT this morning. When I got there the PT was leaving to go to a business meeting. His assistant got a new job she has been waiting to get a long time, so he was on his own this week. Somehow when I told him times and days he missed today. I am going tomorrow instead. I am not really happy as that means two days in a row as I go Friday morning too. I just feel it goes better if I have a recovery day in between. He said the company offered the job to someone to replace the assistant and hopefully they would be there Friday. I am glad they are close, and it was not a long drive this morning.
We have the security cameras and system and called the people that had done it before, and they never called back. So, it is not working right now. I like the doorbell camera and being able to see on my phone when I am away. I also can operate the thermostat when I am away from the house which is nice. I still have not figured out the lights though. There are several light switches that are set to be able to work with the phone. I have tried, but the instructions I got online, are just not working out well when I get on the app. My doors and windows all announce when they are opened.

Carolyn, nice work with Cardio Quick Fix. I always enjoyed that one.

Well my workouts are stalled for a bit. Haven't been sleeping well and skipped yesterday, shopped today and I'll be gone the next two days taking Derek back. Precipitation has been pushed back to later on Saturday, so I'm coming back as far as the bridge tomorrow night. I'll be home by noon Saturday, but I have no faith that I would workout that day! Cat is forcing me to type one handed, so I'll try to get back to this later.

Today I did KCM’s Power Splits Upper Body. My time was 40 minutes with 209 calories burned. Average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 185. I really liked the boxing finishers at the end of the workout. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about that part, but it works well with the overall program.

Diane Sue, I’m sorry that your PT mixed up the days for your appointment. Hopefully two days in a row won’t be too bad.

Cathy, I would be in no shape to work out after driving home! Taking a break from the STS schedule is just a part of real life.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Back from our short trip with success. the camper parts worked perfectly. missing a few grocery items I forgot I needed. we got nice spot in the park , rode for 2.5 hours this morning. really quiet before the weekend. loads of eagles flying all over. the riding has been better but things are about as soaked as they can be right now. it was muddy with many soft slippery spots. mud and debris pack into the tire tread, traction is less, and the tires are much heavier. when each rider leaves a rut, it's soft. still, an enjoyable ride even tho I had to work harder than usual. DH had the same issues, and we both had to walk up things we usually can ride. it will dry out and get better as the season progresses. feel like we have the mechanical things handled in the truck and camper, and that was the purpose of the trip.
cathy, let it slide. sometimes schedules need modification to fit the real world. I also would not work out after a long drive. not a chance.

Yesterday I did a 1 hour Peloton ride and today was a rest day.

Carolyn-Nice job with Power Splits Upper Body. I agree about the boxing finishers. They work very well with the program.

Cathy-I wouldn't be up for working out after a long drive either. I find myself modifying my workout schedules a lot between working at HD and things going on at home.

Diane Sue-I hope your PT goes well this week. It's too bad that they got your days mixed up.

Valerie-Great job with the 2.5 hour ride!

Today I did Step Sync, combos 1 and 2. That was 33 minutes and 203 calories burned. My average heart rate was 121 and maximum heart rate was 146. Then I did Jessica Smith’s Gentle Yoga, Total Body flow for 21 minutes and 48 calories burned.

Valerie, that’s great that the camper repairs held and you were able to have a 2.5 hour hike.

Judy, nice job with the 1 hour Peloton ride and taking a rest day yesterday.
