Good morning,

Back to Windows 8.1 What a nighmare....the tech from Microsoft tried everything to get Windows 10 to work....nope, not happening. My choices were for him to reload Windows 10, or go back to 8.1. I opted to go back and he fixed it so that Windows 10 cannot automatically download to my computer in the future. I was on the phone with him for an hour and a half, he started the download of 8.1, had to hang up and handle other calls, but called me at 11:15 last night to see how things were going and to put the "fix" in to prevent any future download. He was such a nice guy.

Diane Sue, unbeknown to us, Microsoft has downloaded files that are "Windows 10" started type files...they are there and ready for when they "push" the system to your computer...I have the name if you are interested. What the tech guy did is uninstall these files on my PC...without them there, Windows 10 cannot download. He put the file name in Notepad on my desktop so I can check any future updates to make sure they did not put that back, and he also did my settings like you have, they have to ask me first if I want an update.

Valerie, I had Windows 8.1 on my PC when it was "hijacked"....:). How far from a town or city will your new home be?

Hi to Judy, Lori, Josie & Lynda

I hope everyone is having a good weekend....mine got better at 11:15 last night!

A workout, then HouseMax for me....it looks like rain so probably no outside work today.

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Butts and Guts (55 min.). I wonder if I will have doms in my legs tomorrow.

Deb, that does sound like a nightmare. At least you worked your way to a solution and with someone who was nice (and understandable). I have a friend who is very deaf and when she has a problem with her computer or cell phone or cable service, it's like the end of the world for her because it's a challenge for her to deal with anyone on the phone. Deb there is a new series on Amazon Prime by the creators of DA. It received excellent reviews from EW. I think it's called Doctor Thorne.

Nothing exciting this weekend, but at least there is no snow and my hanging plants are enjoying being up and not blowing around in hurricane winds. I think we may finally be getting some summery weather this week.

Valerie, it sounds like you will be so close to Yellowstone that you will be able to visit a lot. That is beautiful country.

Kim is off getting a load of piglets and I have been asked to contribute a chapter to a new book on Sylvia Plath in Context, so I am looking at the European films she watched that had an influence on her. I have seen most of them, but a long time ago, so I need to take a second look before writing. A break from my other writing project.

ttfn

Deb that is good to know you got things settled finally... I had thought seriously about switching but not likely now. I am using Win 7. things work, I will make sure I don't agree to anything.

closest town to us is Livingston or Gardiner. not sure what our address will read.... either Pray or Emigrant. we are not far from Yellowstone. Our house will be about 5 miles from Emigrant which is really just a wide spot in the road, not much of a town. the nice thing is the NP is surrounded by wilderness areas that have the same flora and fauna but way less crowding and tourists. those HUGE areas are less restricted and have hunting ( lots of unwary park animals get shot) so not quite like a park but parks get overrun in all seasons now. we will still use the park but it's going to be easier if we don't have to fight for camping space nearby. we have done some nice mt biking in the area too. takes a while to acclimate to the higher altitude.
we have been very wet for 2 days, didn't do a workout yesterday but will do something today. upper body has been neglected, and we want to mt bike tomorrow.
Lori hope you are doing OK . It is so difficult.

Good afternoon,

I started SB Summer Sizzle challenge by accident today. The workout I did this morning was Cardio Interval Barre Strength which just happens to be day one of her challenge. So off I go. I also ran on the TM for about 25 minutes. Nicholas has not taken it yet so decided to run for a change. I enjoyed it so much I may tell him I changed my mind. He may never get around to picking it up anyways. :)

Deb...Well it sounds like I will stay away from windows 10!!!! I still will speak to my IT department to find out what the heck is up with it.

Lynda...I liked the live butts and gutts. Piglets are so cute! How many is a load? Couple of dozen? I will look up Sylvia Plath. Nice that you were asked to contribute. Weather has been so nice here in New England. Looks like a really nice Memorial weekend too. My dearest friend, Christopher (Madeline's son) is visiting with us over the long weekend to cheer us up. It will be great to have nice weather for his visit.

Valerie...it is so hard. I vacummed yesterday and was very sad as I was vacuuming up the last of Chester. :( funny how we hated all the hair but boy what we would give to have it all back. We are getting better though. Your home sounds like it is going to be so beautiful.

Judy...great no shingles!!

Diane Sue...very sad about your daughters dog. :(. Your workouts have been great. After reading all your posts you are motivating me to get going.

Hi to Josie!!

Today is my rest day. My granddaughter and I went for a walk with Gertie after lunch, it was only a mile and a quarter because I had to carry around Gerties poo. We always walk the path through the woods down to the stream and back then toward the park. I cannot believe how many people do not pick up after their dogs! When we got back we spent some time outside and Olivia tried to get her to play with a new ball she bought over. Gertie was worried about picking it up because it was not one of her toys.

Deb, I am glad that you were able to get things straightened out. I have had many updates show up that I have denied. I would like that list to watch for. That is really not right that windows 10 can hijack someone's computer. It took me awhile to learn Windows 8.1 I still miss some of the things like ease of going into the control panel to do things. It seems more complicated now than it used to be. I have to hunt for the things that I want to manage or do.

Lynda, what an honor to be asked to write for a book :) That is nice that your hanging plants are doing well. I have a bell pepper on one of my plants. I was pleased.

Lori, I had so much doms everywhere yesterday. I guess I worked everything well this week. I was surprised my biceps were not as sore as the week before since I did the 4 sets pre-mix on the Ice Bootcamp dvd. I am enjoying doing some new workouts and getting some heavier stuff in. I will probably still be taking it easy on the knee though.

Valerie, your location for your home sounds like it will be beautiful. I can see why you would want to avoid area that are crowded. That would spoil the whole reason for having your vacation home.

Lori-I just printed the SB Summer Sizzle challenge. I will start tomorrow. I did an hour of SB work on Friday, mostly lower body and core. I had DOMS all weekend. Her workouts sneak up on you.

Lynda-That is very impressive that you were asked to contribute a chapter to a book on Sylvia Plath. You will have to let us know if you do. I think that would be an interesting book.

Deb-I'm sorry you had so much trouble with Windows 10 :(

Valerie-it sounds like you are moving to a beautiful place! You'll have to post some photos.

Hi to Diane Sue & Josie!

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Phat 2. 45 minutes, 260 calories. Right up there as a Live Favorite. :).

Lynda, thanks for the tip on the new Prime series. I don't get EW, and for some reason all the emails I get from Amazon don't have any info on good series to watch. Yes, finally no snow! I can't believe we went to mid May with flurry predictions just south of here. That is nice that they asked you to write that.

Valerie, yes, at the least, make sure your settings in the Update section are set to have you be asked before any updates are downloaded. Your property sounds great, near a town, but not too close.

Lori, it sounds like you really will need to keep that TM...LOL....That's nice that Madeline's son will be visiting. How is she doing btw? I would be curious to hear what your IT people say about Windows 10. My cousin has a guy that helps her when she has computer issues, and he told her not to download it...if she decides she wants it, to let him do it because there are all kinds of bug and issues...well, like me, she didn't have a choice...it just did it on its own. So far all she has had to do was reload the software for her printer.. so far...

Diane Sue, that is funny about Gertie not wanting to pick up the ball because it wasn't hers....what a good girl! For Windows 8.1, the 2 updates that are Windows 10 prep files are: KB3035583 and KB2976978. You may already have them, which is the case for most people with Windows 8. You have to go over and find them in the updates folder, then uninstall them. Our wisteria has about 30 buds on it....I can't wait until it blooms. The lilac has only a few....there was a frost right after it started getting buds, and not all made it.

Judy, that's great that you started that challenge....still amazed that they told you that you had shingles.

Hi Josie!

A workout, then probably working at my cousins for a few hours...

Take care,

Diane sue good that you do the right thing and clean up after your dog. DH and I use a lot of public access trails to ride and hike and what used to be infrequent is now overwhelming. people bag their dog's poop and then leave the bag on the trail????. usually a brightly colored bag. I don't "get" why someone would pick up the poop and then leave it on the side, often just a few feet from a trash can. Many let the poop sit there on the pavement .....like it's going to go away by itself. Shoe soles, bike tires must be as contaminated as anything could get. Not blaming the dogs...it's the owners job.

Deb we had windows 10 start to download this morning.... DH heard an odd sound from his office while eating breakfast. when he went in it had started!. we never agreed to this. he cut the power and I ran upstairs and turned mine off. so we dodged the bullet this morning. not understanding how this could happen without us agreeing to it. Not sure where the "update" section is, but I will look after I'm done here.

we did a couple hours of garden work yesterday, many things bloomed out already. we have most things planted and growing. should be getting snap peas soon. need to replant lettuce , first planting has been picked and eaten. then did bi's, tris, core 1. still drizzling this morning so will try to ride in the afternoon instead. DH has to meet a friend for lunch so it might not happen today and I'll need to substitute something else. prefer morning to ride.

Lynda, how many piglets are in a "load"? I don't think I've ever seen baby pigs but I'll bet they are cute.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both Sweat workouts (46:13). I have some doms today from Butts and Guts yesterday--in my hips and knees.

Yes, Lori, this upcoming holiday weekend is so promising for the weather. It's great that your friend can be with you to cheer you up. Sylvia Plath is infamous--i.e., if you look her up you will find tons of information on her. There will be an entire exhibition devoted to her at the Smithsonian next summer: "One Life: Sylvia Plath."

Valerie, your and everyone else's experience with Windows 10 sounds almost like a sci-fi episode. Computers take over human life!! I asked Kim, and he still has Windows 7 and his computer guy has done something to keep Windows 10 from invading. Kim picked up 20 piglets yesterday and I haven't seen them yet, but he says they were pretty big. Already weaned of course.

Diane Sue, I sympathize with you on the doms since I am suffering a bit today as well. It's not such a big deal for me to contribute a chapter to this book, although I am pleased to be doing something involving film as well as SP's poetry. I have published two books on SP and several articles and chapters in other books. Gertie must have a major canine superego if she can resist a toy. A little girl left her angry bird stuffed toy here when her mom was buying some meat and Max had no problem tossing it up in the air after she left. Kim retrieved it before there was too much damage.

Deb, that's really strange that you don't get emails from Amazon Prime telling you what is new or asking for reviews. I get them all the time. Wisteria has a heavenly fragrance. We have an Oriental lilac that is getting ready to bloom. Everything is so slow up on our hill.

Judy, the new collection from Cambridge University Press is devoted to 'new' contexts for thinking about SP. The last Cambridge collection I wrote on SP and psychoanalysis since she went through psychotherapy after trying to commit suicide in 1953 and was really influenced by her therapist. I have also written on SP and food for a journal Gastronomica because she was such a foodie and writes about her cooking and meals in her Journals with such flair. "'Lucent figs' and 'suave veal chops': Sylvia Plath and Food." That was really fun to write--I mean, really, who describes veal chops as 'suave'?

Hi to Josie!

Good evening ladies!

Serious doms in my legs/hips. Perhaps taking a week off then running was not smart for me! Rested today but plan to get back in the game tomorrow.

Deb...I spoke with my IT department and they all have downloaded W10 and love it! Go figure. Bob has been using our laptop a lot lately so I have no desire to upgrade any time soon. Have you done Phat 1? Curious which you like better.

Diane Sue...hated when Chester would do his business. He was so large when he went it was like carrying aound 5lbs of it!!! Very cute about her ball.

Valerie...close call on the download! I am told if it is not done by July then it will not be free anymore.

Lynda...funny about Max and the toy left behind. We still have W7 so really not sure what we will do. I may just upgrade. If there are any issues I am fortunated to just be able to drop my laptop off with our IT department and have them fix it. :). Thoughts on GOT?

Judy...I know exactly what you mean about her workouts creeping up on you. Between doing her newest one then immediatly running...ouch! Feeling it today. I am looking forward to doing this challange. I really enjoyed the last one.

Hi to Josie!

I don't want to "overreact on the Win 10 but DH is convinced our Photoshop program won't work with Win 10. I don't want to lose or have to sort thru all our pics on the computer and on memory sticks. he does the pics so I defer to his research. I think for what I do, it would not make a lot of difference although my printer is ancient. whatever. I went into the Update section and changed to "approval only" for updates.

did a 10min warmup on the treadmill, then ch, ba, sh. also floor work from LBB, and a few therapy maneuvers. never got to the ride as I suspected might happen.
Lori, that is what I need...my own IT department!.

Today I did 21Day Fix Extreme Upper body, 35 minutes, 172 calories. I went a bit heavier this time. 10 minute Hardcore Extreme, 11 minutes, 47 calories, and finished off with 21 Day Fix Extreme Pilates, 33 minutes, 124 calories. Total time was 79 minutes and calories burned 334. I will do cardio tomorrow. I had house cleaning and errands and my son and grandson both came over for dinner :) We had a nice visit. Our family gatherings are nice but sometimes not having a crowd makes it nice visiting individually.

Deb, lilacs smell wonderful. I was always disappointed that they didn't have a longer blooming season. I hate when frost stunts the growth and blooming. We had hyacinths by our door that were always so pretty and smelled so good but, every year there would be a frost right after they bloom and they would just droop. I finally started cutting some of them and taking them inside ahead of time just so I could enjoy them for a bit. When I was lucky enough to catch it ahead and cover them they would usually make it. Thank you for the numbers of those files and information. I wrote it all down so I can check for them.

Valerie, people leave their dog poop on the sidewalk here too. We have a nice greens area and the woods and there was poop all over. I go to a neighborhood page and there are complaints about it. Some of the homes back yards face the water and people walk their dogs back there and let them poop and leave it. I don't blame them for being angry. I usually walk the paths that way and then go back up the sidewalks that head to the park and walking paths below the dam. There are trashcans and bags for clean up along the walking paths but people are to lazy to use them. I just knot the bag and carry it. I would never think to dump it on the ground.
I sure hope Windows 10 does not do that to me. I do not want it. I was talking to my son tonight and he is trying to avoid Windows 7. He even still uses Windows 7 in his office at work. I have not been prompted on my older computer with Windows 7.

Lynda, that is funny Max picked up the angry birds ball. Gertie is pretty good about making sure things are meant for her. My grandson knocked some silk flowers out of a vase on the floor upstairs and she picked them up and took them downstairs and put them by my husbands chair. I have had her pick things up before and bring them to me when they were not meant for her.
I have never read Sylvia Plath. I read 3 poems yesterday and thought they were kind of disturbing and sad. Reading about her, it seems that she had kind of a sad life. I guess that is obvious with the way she died.
I still had doms all over today and almost didn't want to do anything. I am trying really hard to be easier on the knees so chose upper body to give the legs a bit longer break.

Lori, Gertie is not small either. I used to carry a small book bag with me with a scoop and plastic bags in it with me but she never does anything and I usually let her out in the yard for awhile before we take off. So lately I have just been sticking paper towels in a plastic bag and shoving it in my pocket. I guess it is good that I know she will do it on leash. We are taking her for family time in a cabin this summer and she will have to be walked. My Dog Mudd went with us before and our Dane Puddle and I swear they were so hard to get to do something on leash. Puddle was better than Mudd though. Mudd took 2 days and I still cannot figure how she held it that long before she decided she had to go.

Judy, it is funny how some workouts can not seem too bad and they sneak up on you like that.

Good morning,

Yesterday I went to the track with my cousin and did 10 laps, walking/jogging, 270 calories. Then I picked up my niece and took her to my cousins for lunch and to relax in the sun a bit. She has been sick for over a month, in and out of the hospital twice etc. It all started with an epidural for her back (she has a herniated disk), ....word to the wise; Never agree to an epidural!

Valerie, people around here are pretty good about cleaning up after their dogs. I don't understand why they would pick it up and leave the bag on the trail etc, except if they just don't want to carry it while hiking etc, but you said sometimes it's right near a trash container. Ugh...I really want snap peas! If I planted now (seeds) how long before I would have actual peas? Those are my favorite vegs to eat raw. I think we all could use our own IT department at times. I have to say Micosoft was very good with me on this last debacle.

Lynda, I do get emails from Amazon, for rating what I have watched, and telling me what they have coming, but it is never anything I would watch. I get my notifications from you and others here. I can see Max finding that toy and taking off with it...mine would do the same, but they would chase each other around for it. Last night Kylee got a toy and was teasing Keegan until he couldn't stand it any more, he chased her around the house for it...under the dining room table...around the sofa back and forth...they are too funny sometimes. John and I get a good laugh watching them. She is so fast and nimble....he actually caught her once and then they have a good "tug-of-war" with the toy.

Lori, great workouts but I can see why you would want to take a rest day. Edited: I discovered I had not done Phat 1, and did it just now....Wowza! This is tough...but I liked it a lot...If you did this workout twice a week, you would not need any cardio....it moves rather quickly. There a only 2 exercises that use a BB...that can easily be subbed out with DB's. A really good core section at the end. :). If Bob is on that laptop, he will probably get a forced Windows 10 download. You can stop it by uninstalling the 2 update files that I mentioned before. If you look at
"recent updates" you will probably see one or both of them. I had both. I really hope changing my settings to not allow updates without my approval works. My cousin who also was forced to download now has a virus and her computer is with a tech friend of hers. Yes, if it is not done by July, I also heard it will not be free....if we can survive until then, they would need to get a payment somehow so they would not "force" it to you.

Diane Sue, that is so cute that Gertie picks up things that do not belong to her and brings them to you. Funny that you had dogs that would not "go" when travelling....some people are like that too..LOL :).

Josie, are you all set for the ride?

Hi Judy!

A workout, then shopping for dog food ingredients, and making that today.

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Strong Upper Body and Core (57 min.). Very straightforward with 3 supersets for back, then shoulders, then chest, then biceps, then triceps, and final core first standing and then on the mat. I found myself first matching, then going down in the weight from Cathe by the time set 3 rolled around. I could also imagine stopping after doing back, shoulders and chest and doing the rest on a second day.

Deb, Kim had an epidural for his back several years ago and the pain just went away. I guess for some people they work and for others, not. That sounds terrible for her. I did PHAT 2 and remember thinking that it really seemed cardio-like going back and forth from upper to lower body. Max still has that toy you made for him and it's great for tug-of-war.

Lori, I was very disappointed in Bran. Now he has no dire wolf and no Hodor and no legs and no Raven. So much for self-indulgent warging. Yay for Sansa! I loved the way she confronted Baelish. Hard for Arya to learn what happened to her family while watching them burlesqued in a side show. Very good episode with both ups and downs. What's next?? I just downloaded the final Cronin book on to my iPad--over 2000 pages! Great for my trip next week to California.

Diane Sue, Plath's most famous volumes are her novel, The Bell Jar, and the poems she wrote after her husband left her (with a 3 year old toddler and a 9 month old baby), collected in Ariel (published posthumously and arranged differently by her husband, who left out poems that were directed aggressively at him). She wrote most of them in one month. It is sad that she took her own life at such a young age. Gertie sounds like a wonderfully thoughtful dog--and so young too.

Hi to Valerie, Judy, and Josie!

I did not sleep well last night. I stayed up till 12:30 am messing with the computer trying to figure out where those files were to stop windows 10. The computer started acting like it was trying to do something while I was looking at the Windows 10 stuff and I just shut it down.
I just finished getting rid of those files and went back to make sure that I had unclicked give me recommended updates the same way as I receive updates. I swear I had it unchecked before but it was checked. I do have something else I want to check on that you can set up a box to take ownership?? I bookmarked it so I can go back and read up on it. It was in the explanations I read to get rid of those windows 10 files. Now I no longer have the little Windows 10 box on my task bar that I did not put there. :D
This morning I wanted to do low impact and step so I did Ice Low Impact Sweat Step , 28 minutes, 168 calories max hr 133. I then did a You Tube Jenny Ford Hawaii Step ( I heard these were low impact) 39 minutes, max HR 134, 236 calories. I tried a bit of 21 Day Fix Extreme Cardio but when she started doing the butt kickers I thought I might need to preview the dvd and the modifier first. I finished off with 21 Day Fix Extreme Yoga, 30 minutes, 104 calories. 508 calories, 98 minutes.
I will be back in a bit for personals. I have been cleaning between uninstalling those programs and restarting the computer. I want to finish before my husband comes home.

Deb, thanks for the file information,. I couldn't believe how many file numbers I had to go through to find the numbers.

Lynda, I made notes on some of those workouts that I found could be separated and done on different days. That one is a good one. I like doing supersets. I will have to check out the Bell Jar. That is a shame that her husband took out what he did not want read.

Yesterday I did 10 on the treadmill, the floor work from LBB, and half of ch, sh, ba X-train. I'd like to get in 2-3 upper body workouts a week, and I have been such a slouch. I want to at minimum, maintain. I'm a little sore today, but nothing serious after doing 2 on consecutive days. today we did a hike, about 8 miles RT. 5 1/2 hours. we saw a mt goat... binoculars. he was so dirty he wasn't even white! we think he is shedding his winter coat as he was scratching and jumping around and rolling in the dirt with mud and rocks flying everywhere.
sadly I am out of hiking shape. nothing else seems to "prep" you for hiking. all the riding does very little. probably a month since we did a significant hike, and it all goes away. You would think there was some "crossover effects" from riding and treadmill but there aren't.

Deb, it defies logic. it seems the unpleasant part of scooping after your dog.... would be "collecting" process. after it's in the bag, it makes no sense to leave it lying in the grass but it happens regularly. they mow the edges of the trail and I'm sure it's not pleasant for the mower operators to hit bag after bag of fermented, plastic bagged, doggie do.
Around here.. it takes about 60 days to get snap peas or Chinese pea pods. supposedly we can plant in mid Feb, but I don't plant that early. I wait until mid to late march. I don't have flowers on the plants yet but the peas come quickly once flowering starts. I plant a spring crop only. it gets too warm to grow well later. I've never timed a fall crop right. we tend to be on vacation then anyway. Clearly you have different growing conditions. they aren't that sensitive and grow well in cool weather. once it gets hot ... they tank quickly. I'd plant them now.

Good morning!

As mentioned, I did Phat 1 yesterday. I think that this is my favorite Live workout. Cathe should film this for one of her next DVD's. It's finally summer here....we skipped spring all together. It will be in the 80's by Friday.

Lynda, thanks for the info on Strong Upper Body...I don't think I have tried that one yet. I think I did the Express version of that one. I do know some people that have had epidurals that worked...I just think you hear the negative more than the positive. When I had mine, it worked for 2 hours, then all the pain was back. So glad Max likes his toy. It's surprising how durable those are. The ones we have here are a bit ragged, but still together. I just toss in the wash every now and then when they look cruddy. I forgot that you are going to California next week...that came fast.

Valerie, I would think that all the biking you do would help with hiking too...maybe step workouts, not the dancing type would be good. Is that what mountain goats do to shed their coats? I want to get those peas in by the weekend...John thinks I can plant in a pot? That would be ideal. We don't have any beds set up for vegetables. I guess they are all planted from seed? no little plants to buy?

I just finished watching season 2 of Last Tango in Halifax....I really enjoy this program....but for those that watch, I can't stand the "John" character!!! He needs to go away...NOW! LOL

Diane Sue, I hope you slept better last night. Not sure what you mean by setting up to "take ownership"....would be interested if you have a link to read.

Lori, when does your friend get there?

Hi Josie & Judy!

Not much here...a workout, then finishing the dog's food that I made yesterday. Class with Kylee tonight,

Take care,

Deb, this is the link I was looking at. I still need to go read all of it. I noticed this link says vista on it. I was looking at Windows 8 stuff but, I think this covers different Windows formats.

No workout yet. I think I may try Ice Bootcamp but possibly the premix without upper body. Then add the Lower 21 Day Fix. I plan on using fairly light weights though and I will do the modifications when I can for jumping. I was tempted to to go to the new Sprouts Farmers Market bright and early this morning but didn't get up quite early enough. They were expecting a line at 6 am. They open at 7 but, they were giving 20% off the entire purchase for the first 200 customers and every 5th customer gets a Sprouts coupon book. Maybe the crowd would not be fun though. My daughter went to a grand opening for a Natural foods Market and entered all of the drawings (did not win anything) and they handed out things like nutrition bars and product samples to try. I am not prone to hanging in crowds though. I usually go early to avoid the shoppers :)

I got tired yesterday but not sore. my knee worked OK. only "hiking" conditions for hiking. I don't understand why riding doesn't help more. this is not the first time I've noticed this. I'm guessing it's because quads/hams are primary for biking, and your lower leg just goes along for the ride, so to speak. plus, the posture is totally different. so, we will make a point of hiking once, somewhere, every week. we want to do more backpacking this year. last year was pathetic, one trip. I can do treadmill and elliptical, but not step. hopeless that way.

we are gradually replacing a lot of our gear with lighter weight stuff. last year we bought a new tent. bigger, easier to set up and pounds lighter than our old one. I bought a new jacket mainly for mt biking but also for summer hiking. it's waterproof/breathable and weighs 5 oz. even has a hood. it stuffs into it's own pocket into a teensy little thing. I'd been using my yellow road bike jacket for mt biking but it gets way too dirty and will wear out if I wash it every wearing. I tried it yesterday for the first time and really like it. DH like it so much he wants one too. It's very weird to think about how heavy our packs used to be and how gear has changed. Wasn't that long ago when packs were 50-60 lbs. now people are going down into the 20's.
Deb, I think I've seen pea starts along with other vegetable starts, in small 6 packs, but I've read peas don't transplant well. A big pot would probably work fine. even short versions of peas will need a frame/trellis/string to climb up. I usually grow "2-3 foot" ones but they always get bigger. maybe due to the mild climate here. Extremely easy to grow here.

we've seen goats with their coats hanging in tatters before, but never saw one doing the process before. and he was doing it on a steep hillside.
