Pear with Bad Knee...Rotation Help...Please!!

Hi I have a knee issue and have seen a doc already, basically I can workout, BUT...no step, no squats and no lunges. I'm a pear so this gets me where it hurts, so to speak. I dont have access to a pool or gym although I know swimming is a good workout. I also work late and sometimes walking after work is an issue b/c it's oftentimes dark when I get home.

Could someone PLEASE help this pear with a rotation??? My goals are basically like everyone elses and to protect my knee!!

Thanks!!!

It sounds like you need to stick with floor work until your knee heels. I don't own the video but based on the descriptions it looks like Cathe's Legs & Glutes has some knee friendly exercises towards the later part of the workout.

How about alternating your workouts as follows:

Day 1 - Floor work
Day 2 - Cardio
Day 3 - Upper Body
Day 4 - Cardio
Day 5 - Floor work
Day 6 - Cardio
Day 7 - Rest

Day 1 - Upper body
Day 2 - Cardio
Day 3 - Lower Body
Day 4 - Cardio
Day 5 - Upper Body
Day 6 - Cardio
Day 7 - Rest

Your cardio should be low impact. Something that doesn't involve bending the knee. The only indoor workouts which come to mind are walking (Leslie Sansone), dance or boxing drills.

I have bad knees due to a congenital (sp?) defect in both. I can do squats but otherwise have similar restrictions to you. I can step if I only use the top of the step and limit myself to once a week and stop it totally if the knee starts getting aggrivated. I have my rotations posted on my website below. When Cathe lunges I sub more squats which won't help you since you can squat yet either. Wish I could help you more, I feel your pain!

Shape or Hers Muscle & Fitness (sorry can't remember which) either this month or last month had a wonderful section on exercises to strengthen the muscles that support the knees. If you don't have it, try to grab a copy. Even if you can't do all the moves now, you probably can soon! I'm actually planning to add in a 3rd day of leg exercises in May and make that routine from the magazine one of them.

Thank you for your suggestions. My knee problem unfortunately wont ever get better. I'll just have to concentrate on it not progressively getting worse :(

Thanks again!
