Patrick Goudeau Lean Hot Body!

I bought Lean Hot Body a while back, but it was just when I started STS, so it's been harder to fit in, well, I finally did it yesterday, I honestly can not find a negative to share, the music was great, the set was simple and non-dstracting, the exercisers looked great, did their job, interacted just enough, Patrick limited his use of "oh my gosh", I LOVE his personality, he's motivating without being a cheerleader and coming off phoney, nor did he need to play the role of drill sargent. I found myself laughing with him at times, and then sometimes swearing at him, or just in his general direction :p

The workout for me was pretty darn intense, it started off, and I'm like "I can do this, no problem", but it just go so much more intense so quickly after the first set of exercises. Many of the moves were unique and incorporated a variety of styles. I was sweating buckets, I probably did about 65% of the entire video, I just had those moments, where I started at the screen, but could not get my body to follow along .

You start out using weights in each circuit, but the speed and compound moves also creates an aerobic effect, you go through the left side then the right side, then you move onto a couple minutes of cardo, I think there were 4 maybe 5 cycles.

I truly enjoy the workout, even though I can't quite get through it yet, but it's fun to have a challenge and something to work up to.

Oh and my inner thighs are screaming today, I think that's from the kettlebell style swings with db's.

<sigh> I love Goudeaux. His personality is so fun! He just about broke my heart when he said he wasn't making anymore step DVDs. :(

I just got this dvd in the mail yesterday. I am doing the 5 1/2 month STS rotation and this was one of my reward dvds for doing 8 weeks of meso I. I am planning on doing it during this week, my recovery week. Sounds like it is a bit intense, and I am looking forward to it!

I got this workout a month or two ago and but after previewing the DVD I knew I wasn't ready for it yet. I finally got around to trying it out last week and wow, what a great workout! I was sweating like crazy after the first 15 minutes. I found it very challenging, but fun. Just a couple of additional thoughts in case anyone is interested....

I added lifting gloves about half way through because my weights were starting to hurt/rub my hands. Patrick and crew don't wear lifting gloves in the video. Personal preference of course.

The cardio sections were tough!!! Think CCC tough - Patrick even does those roll back and jump up thingies Cathe does in CCC. I had to modify a few cardio moves because i'm still working on my cardio capacity but even modified I got a fantastic workout.

I added 30 second rests between each cycle to let my heart rate come down a bit, especially during the second half of the workout. The extra rests gave me time to take a sip of water, catch my breath, and mentally prepare for the next cycle. Eventually i'm hoping to cut out the extra rests but for now I needed them to survive! :)

Patrick uses 2 sets of dumbbells - a medium set and a heavy set. I only used two sets as well but next time i'm going to try to mix it up a bit more. There were some moves I could have gone a little heavier (primarily at the beginning when Patrick was only using 1 dumbbell) and a few moves I needed to go a little lighter (primarily at the end) because my form was suffering a bit.

Overall this is a great DVD to add into the mix. Though I still prefer Cathe of course I enjoyed trying something different and Patrick is a fantastic instructor!

Thanks! I was considering either this or his Hard Work Conditioning DVD. Maybe I should just get both.

I love this workout!! I have done it a few times already, it's something that you just can't get sick of doing. So much fun and I really like Patrick as an instructor. I recently purchased HWC2 and found that one to be just as fun. He knows how to choreograph/design unique moves, and functional too. It's not heavy lifting, but it's a good overall total body workout that gets your heart pumping. I smile throughout the entire workout...so much fun!!!!
