Passing out after exercise...

Hi everyone!!

Hey, I was wondering if any of you guys ever get a sick feeling while working out. The other day, I did IMAX. I did not sleep too good the night before but ate well in the AM before my workout and then had an apple approx an hour before my workout. I work out in a small room at work, usually with one other person. Well, the other day there was three of us and I swear that third person just SUCKED ALL THE OXYGEN out of the room. I know it sounds really stupid but seriously, in a small room the more bodies you have, the hotter it seems. Anyway, I digress..

I felt that IMAX was tougher than last week so I was smart and lowered my riser to 6". That was good and I felt better until the very end when I just got really hot but kindof stopped sweating. I could feel my face just getting hotter and hotter..redder and redder. All of a sudden I had the taste of blood in my mouth and my lungs started hurting, like heartburn type pain maybe?? Have any of you ever done cardio at a level high enough to make your lungs actually HURT, especially when you take a big breath?? I have had this happen before but it goes away quick, but the other day if was pretty intense for about 15 min. AFTER the workout. I really thought I was going to pass out or throw up. I couldn't figure out why I had that reaction being that I know I had enough water and was not dehydrated. The only thing I could come up with was the extra heat in the room from the extra person. And the air was on 60 degrees!!!!!!!!

It really must have been pretty bad because people at work were asking if I was Ok, and why was my face so red. (HOW EMBARRASING!!).

Anyone ever had a situation similar?? Really, I have been doing IMAX for months so I had no explanation for it!!

I had some difficulty doing IMax the other day. It was later in the day. I usually work out at 5 a.m. but this was a Saturday and I decided to do it at about 3 p.m. It was hot out but not roasting. (I guess it's quite brisk at 5 in the morning.) Well, even with the big fan on (no A/C here), I had a harder time than usual, some flavor of what your post reports. I was fine afterward, but during, I took extra breaks, and I modified more than I expected to.

I have been gradually intensifying my workouts lately but it sometimes needs to be even more gradual that I do it. So I expect that next time I do I Max, it will be at 5 a.m. on a cool morning, a Monday (after my usual rest on Sunday) and I'll make sure I've had plenty of sleep, and not eating too much...

I did feel like I wanted to suck hard on some extra oxygen, even though the doors and windows were all open and the fan was on.

I am curious to see what others say.

Could it be you had a bit of a cold or bug that affected you that day? I have no expertise in this situation, but I have noticed that sometimes if I'm starting to get a little bit of a cold, my exercise takes a lot out of me, even though I may not get truly "sick". Anyways that's my theory, I have not had the extreme reaction you had though.

Take care,

Yes, I had exactly this experience twice, just power walking for Christ's sakes, in August.. Heart palpitations, faintness, nearly fell over, nearly asked a nice young man to walk me home in fear that I couldn't make it alone!

Several days later I spent two days in bed with a terrible virus. My body had been trying to warn me of what was on its way.

Take it easy.

Nice to know I am not the only one. We can all just PRAY now that I am not getting sick. Nope, not me. Well, atleast it has not hit yet...... Thanks for the replies and advice...

Hey there,

When you are very hot but stop sweating, this is a symptom of heat stroke. I second the comment about staying hydrated!!

Again, thanks for the adive, but I drink approx 200 oz of water a day, so that is not the problem.. I swear I think it is that third body!!!:)

Had you just had TTOM? I had this feeling once (as mentioned above) but again today! And yesterday I donated blood.

Last time I did Imax I had a hard time like you described. Today I checked my log and it was 5 days into a "bonus" period that Mother Nature decided to bestow on me!

Well, just a thought! Take care!
