Parenting: Typical mistake, predictable outcome

Thanks, Debbie,

I appreciate that you have shared your experiences. The story about the songs you wrote in high school hit home. I do think she was writing about a fantasy; although I don't think she really understood the content of what she was writing. It almost sounded like she was repeating something she picked up somewhere and trying to pretend to be older than she is. So, no real serious imminent danger here, but definitely something I need to keep an eye on. Once again thanks for your input.

tough issue...I have three teenagers, 2 dds and a ds. I do not snoop unless I see a reason to and I have only ever had ONE reason. Middle DD was dating a fellow DH and I did not approve of. Had numerous talks with her, trusted her, she has never given us a reson not to. DID NOT trust the boyfriend. so I snooped. found some notes from him pressuring her to have sex (she was 16 at the time)You better believed I stepped in and made my opinion known. she felt like she was letting him down if she didn't go along, well I put an end to that!!!!!! I would never snoop just to snoop. I ahve told all three this. now DD talks to me about the new boyfriend, whom we like and trust. Unless he gives us a reason not to...
