Paper plates.

Anyone else having a hard time with the plates? I bought discs to use on my rug and they don't glide very easily. So I tried paper plates and had the same problem. I was thinking it was because I wasn't used to the move but on the RT, with the rag and hardwood floor, the rag slid very easily. I couldn't use any weight but I could get it to slide.

Is there a better type of paper plate to use than another? like the really cheap paper plates or the stiffer ones. I have the stiffer ones.

Any input would be a big help.
Thanks

I read on another post that someone recommended plastic plates. You may want to give that a try if you have one hanging around your kitchen.... which reminds me that I need to try this before next week (when I plan to start my STS rotation). Thanks for the reminder and let me know if the plastic plate works.

You might want to try a frizbee on the carpet, I saw that someone suggested it, and I tried it and it worked very well.

I tried the plastic plate on my puzzle mats this morning and it was no go. It did not work :(

That's strange, Catherine. I bought a package of Solo plastic plates after I read the post about plastic plates working on puzzle mats. I gave them a whirl last night and they worked great!

I guess I am just the odd ball :( I even sprayed the bottom with stuff to make them slick after trying them the first time and it still didn't work!

I bought the really cheap grocery store paper plates and they did great on my carpet this morning.....those plates really make those moves tough....I love it! So that probably makes me an odd ball too :)

I ordered the Gliding Discs for carpet and am really hoping those work (and that they get here next week so I can have them ready for my first week of STS beginning 2/16).

I find they work, but there is more resistance or 'stick' to them than when using them on a carpet.

YOu can pick up a carpet remnant (short pile works best) to use for those plate moves. Plastic plates should slide well on that.

I bought the furniture slider thingies and they work great. For $10 bucks and they will last a lot longer than a plastic or paper plate.

I used the Moving Men plastic discs today and they worked great. I got those from Amazon.com. I have to use a piece of carpet in my workout room because the floor in my workout room is all rubber flooring. The moving men nor the paper plates worked on the rubber floor.

I use Val Slides on my carpet (berber) and they work great! I actually thought they might be too slippery but it just took getting used to. Here's a link http://www.valslide.com/store.html

Amazon has them for $35. Target had them in clearance for a while and I was able to get mine for about $6.

Trish, those look just like the furniture movers that I bought at Walmart. I paid $10 for a set of 4. So I feel like I got a good deal.

I bought 2 different types of plates and still didn't work. I finally tried them upstairs on a different rug and lo and behold they worked. So I'm guessing it is my rug that is the problem. I am going to get a remanant to use.

Thanks for the respones.

I'm using cheap grocery store plastic plates and they were okay on my short carpet at first, but then they got so they didn't slide as well. I'm ordering the Valslides.
