paper plate (vs) foam plate??

ok I do not have the STS system yet, but I'm reading the forum to make sure I have at least everything in place.

So this is the question: what is the difference between paper plates and foam plates besides being shiny?

also, I've been looking at most of the glide systems and heres and idea. could you just glue or tape a sponge on top of the paper/foam plate to glide easier or just buy the system?

I was just wonder...
thanks

I use foam plates (don't have any paper ones, believe it or not!), and it seems to work ok for me. My workout area in the basement has a flat carpet and the foam plate glides easily over it. Sometimes the plate sticks to my sneaker, though. (Static, I guess.)

My foam plate didn't work very well on my carpet, but a paper plate worked fine. I think you might have to experiment to see what works best.
