Paleo Diet?

What are your thoughts on the Paleo diet? I've been hearing a lot about how it is the carbs and sugar that are bad for you and not fat and I'm thinking of changing what I eat.

After reading the latest success story about the 61 year old women who went to cathe for help and one of the recomendations from cathe was the paleo diet, but refined. I understand the theory behind the diet but i also do not understand why you are to limit all whole grains seeing that certain ones, oatmeal for example is a great on and had been know to help people loose weight. so what do we do???;);)

yes, I would like to know what part of the diet Cathe suggests tweaking. On another note, anyone read Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It?

I'm the 61 year old woman that the Paleo Diet along with STS is helping.

I just wanted to chime in and post what I think helped me on the Paleo Diet. It is not for everyone mind you, but it was made for me since I don't have a choice because of my GERD. Cathe by happenstance suggested it to me and low and behold it helped me. Here is what I posted today on my success story in hopes that it may help you as it does me. But you have to workout too especially if you want to lose weight. I don't know all the ends and outs why this diet dosen't allow grains in it, but if you want more details, the nitty gritty of it, I would suggest to get the book by Loren Cordain. It's all very Scientific. I don't see anything wrong in tweaking it so that it will work for you. I played around with it until I came up with something that worked for me, a suggestion from Cathe.

"I wanted to answer a few things like how I tweaked the Paleo Diet. I tweaked on two things. I added 1/2 cup of cooked Steal Cut Oats in the morning. Twice during the day I put in 1 tablespoon of live culture yogurt (I use Greek) into 1 Tablespoon of my homemade paleo mayo. I like to put that into my fish/chicken meals and eat it that way. It’s very delicious. So far the rest of the diet is not modified. I feel for me that’s all the tweaking I need to do for now.

Wanted to share my rotation Cathe gave me if you are interested in it:

Do STS in its entirety.
Take one week off.
Do Gym Styles for one month!
Do the low impact series for two weeks.
Do Four Day Split for one month.
Do Shock Cardio Series for two weeks
Do STS Meso two and Meso three
All the while eat a super clean diet. I tweak the Paleo diet to suit my needs. But basically eat very lean lean, natural, non processed foods, lots of dark green veggies, brown rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, healthy fruits in small portions, fish, poultry, etc. Water, green tea are my main source of liquids. I throw in some organic 100% pure tart cherry juice for my joints and a great source of antioxidants too."

I sure hope it helps. I know how difficult it is trying to find something that works.

Janie,
Your post was VERY HELPFUL to me! I loved the rotations and the eating guidelines! I will be adopting as much of it as I can! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you so much, Janie for this info! I've been following this exact same "tweaked" diet for over two years now after being diagnosed with food allergies. I am a newbie to Cathe's workouts so the rotation you posted is very helpful! I'm not looking to lose any more weight (lost 90lbs), but am desperately trying to build muscle after my muscles atrophied a year ago due to lack of nutrition and too strenuous routine. Do you think your rotation will help me rebuild my muscle mass? I've been looking at the STS program and the Gym Style programs, but honestly I have no idea where to begin since I've never worked out to Cathe before!

Thanks again for sharing your inspiring story! :)

Um...Janie?.......I'm still not past the part that you are 61!!! Your picture looks 40 something!!! Ok, whatever you are doing, I am doing it too, I decided based on your looks alone.......THEN I saw your rotation...WHAT?!!!! Just after I post about kicking it DOWN a notch......

Well game on! I don't have all those workouts, but will pick some up and start going more Paleo!!!

You are SOMTHIN"!!!!!
