Pace weights vs. wrist weights?

So I'm looking to bridge the gap between the 15lb dumbbell and the 20lb dumbbell. I know some of you use pace weights and some of you use wrist weights. Is one better than the other? Or is it just preference?

I got Pace weights but rely almost entirely on wrist weights now when I'm in-between on dumbbells. Since I started STS (I'm on M3 now) I've had ridiculously fast strength gains and have found the wrist weights (which I'd forgotten I had) much easier and faster to work with. I can't tell you how fed up I got pinching myself with those magnets. I think they're great when you first start lifting, especially when doing shoulders, where you can't really make big changes in weight. But as you progress and are able to lift heavier loads there's nothing like quickly slapping on a weighted bracelet fastened with velcro.

If you think you really need the micro weights and are on a program where you're progressing as fast as STS helps you to do, maybe invest in a small set of 4 magnetic weights and two sets of wrist weights. I have a big set of Pace Weights I'll likely never get much use out of now.

Thanks! You may have just saved me a bundle! Do you have suggestions for wrist weights???

Thanks,

Kelly

second for suggestions on the wrist weights...which ones are easy to take off and put on? also, what's a good poundage for inbetween 15->20? I guess 2.5 or 2 pounds?

Target had some in 1.5 and 2.5 each that I got a while back - they velcro around your wrist. I also have some like a donut that are 2lb each. The good thing about having those in the middle is that I can easily wear both to increase the weight. I can also wrap the velcro ones around the BB for 1.5 or 2.5 addition and it won't throw off the balance.

I got mine at Target also, but they're all over the place. The kind I got actually have a thumb loop which helps to keep them from shifting around. I never used those things until doing STS upper body. After getting pinched by the magnets for about the twentieth time the light bulb (finally) went off and I was like 'Hey, don't I have wrist weights around here somewhere....?'

Thanks for turning on the light for me. I never even thought of wrist weights. Yay!
