P90X RUT BUSTERS Check in week of 2-7

TODAY HARDCORE ARRIVES! WOO HOO!

I did Shoulders & Arms today. My biceps are fried!

I also tried an Ima Challenge. I... um... couldn't do it. What I did do was start at the top and use the negative (?) muscles to let myself down slowly. But no matter what, I couldn't push back up. Maybe the negative motion will build my muscles enough to help me go up.

Wendy, tomorrow I'm going to try your "Fire in the Pecs Push Up from the Chest" slogan. I can do knee pushups, more than when I started, but I want to do the big girl pushups. Never give up! Never surrender!

I always laugh during the warm up when we are doing arm
>circles and he "caws" like a pterodactyl. I don't know why
>that makes me laugh:)
>

This makes me DIE laughing!

Did Legs and Back today and ARX. Today was the first day in this rotation that I really didn't feel like doing the workout, even after I got going. I did it all though and was glad to have gotten it overwith when I was done. I still need to figure out my rotation for next week....thank god it is the weekend ;) I am wiped out

Ruppie - the thing that helped me was to get advice from BF and have him help me with the push up. It doesn't have to be your hubby but find someone that can do them and ask them to help you. Literally five minutes later, I felt better about it. To me, it was really comfort with the form and depth and then I just started working harder on depth. I had thought htat I was doing nothing b/c I wasn't going down far but he gave me a few tips and I realized that I had good form and even an inch down was okay b/c I could improve that.

Margaret - WHOO HOO on the 50 masons twists. I do 50 too...but I keep my feet on the ground! The next goal is to raise them for at least 10 reps and to o up form there. I have to say...I finally can do those V up Roll ups!

Amazon - great ideas on teh push ups...just dp the part that you can and work on the rest. Like I said to Ruppie, you might ask someone to take a looksie while you do a rep just to mak sure that you have good form. I have BF check once a week for good measure. Last week he told me my butt was too high up...whoops! THat constant attention will make the move possible at first and "perfect" secondly!

I owe the Ima challenge tonight...will let you know!

Good day to all ;)
Christine

Well, I just did the Ima Challenge and I got to 20! I cannot believe it myself! I am really thrilled! I should have tried for 21 but felt there was no way I'd make it back up anyway! 3 weeks ago I could do 12...barely!

Legs and Back, Ab RipperX--check! + Treadmill

I enjoyed Legs and Back a little more today. I think that the reduced amount of lower body work is actually HELPING my legs...thighs are down .25 to .5 inch. I know I am losing muscle but I think I needed to a bit. My jeans were getting too tight in the thighs.x( Anyway, I really worked on my form and used weights as much as possible (even when they didn't). It helped change my attitude about this workout.

I want to get Back and Chest in once next week because I missed the very first Monday when we started and I think that workout is helping me out a lot.

O.k., guys...doing GREAT! Keep it up! Let's try to eat clean this weekend, o.k.? Who cares that it is VDay weekend! No excuse! I picked up Oxygens Ab Issue and I am realizing how critical it is to eat clean if we are ever going to unbury the abs.

You know what??? I think you're doing great!! I think you're going to get stronger that you expect because i truly think Tony uses alot of momentum in his pushups. Yes, he is super strong upper body wise, but push ups are hard to do if you are using the speed and momentum he uses.

For the longest time, i felt pushups were too much for my wrists, elbows, back etc..., but when i put it in my mind and repeated to myself this is a chest exercise, i could really focus!!!

I wussed today. Had a bit of a conflict with my sister in law over something stupid. She is what I believe to be bipolar, her mood swings are unbelievable. The whole confrontation upset me so I only did the hi lo from MIC, then spent too much time on the phone.

Tomorrow, spinerval, just cause i need the endorphins
:) :) :) :)

>Well, I just did the Ima Challenge and I got to 20!

Wow!! 20 is great!!! Did you ever find a pair of running shoes to help your toe blisters??

Hi Everybody,

It's been a little while since I've posted. Wow, I can't believe it's the end of week 3 already.

This has been a weird week. One day I am so super motivated and do my planned workout and some walk/run and would have the energy to do a 3rd workout and the next 2 days is such a struggle to just do 1 workout. Any ideas?

A few other things I have noticed- I definitely have improved in strength and endurance. I was able to do all of Imax 2 the other day with little substitutions.

I however have not lost any weight and it feels like my undesireable areas have become more flabby? I have to admit my diet has not been 100% but has way improved from the way it had been for a while.

Gotta finish legs today and will sub KPC for Kenpo,

Sabine

One more question,

Any suggestions on workout shoes esp for step and all the jumpy movements like plyo and skaters?
I looked at new crosstrainers the other day and none of them had a good fit or enough support.

Sabine

Ladies, my Hardcore arrived yesterday!!! I'm going to do one this afternoon. Which one should I do?????

I'm thinking a cardio workout would be good. But maybe since I was supposed to do Yoga X today, perhaps I should do Core Max? Decisions, decisions!!!

Sabine, I used to spend a lot of money on shoes, but now that I have a laminate floor with interlocking mats over the top, I get by with those Costco Avia cross-trainers. They have a smooth sole so pivots are no problem. I used to have knee problems, but no more. (And I'm 45 with knee crepitus. They're noisy, but not painful.)

I felt P90X's leg work left me "flabby" in my saddlebag/butt/thigh areas when I did it--which is why I just sub with Cathe's leg work instead. I always feel tighter in those areas after I do Cathe. I wonder why this is? I know you can get massive DOMS after Legs and Back, too.

I forgot to say yesterday that Tony's Pterodactyl impression makes me lol, too. Maybe because he acts just like my man. That scene where he gives the camera a close up of his bicep--my man all over again. Too funny!

Wendy, I can't concentrate on workouts when I'm having a conflict with someone, either. My brain just can't do it. I guess this shows us how much these conflicts rob us of energy and heart.

Hello my friends!

Today I did Kick Max instead of Kenpo X. Wow! What a workout. Everytime I sit down I feel like I can't get back up. My legs are fried!

Wendy, for some reason I always seem to have 2 or 3 bipolar individuals in my life. They are not easy to deal with or understand. I always say if I DO understand them, something is wrong with ME. I feel for you. They seem to reel you in with their kindness and goodness and then BAM! You get hit in the face with their nastiness and hostility. But you probably know this.

I think I'll sub the Cathe workout after this next week for the P90X leg work. I previewed it yesterday. Looks tough. ALL the Hardcore series look tough.

I can't in my wildest dreams imagine doing 20 pushups. I'm in awe of you. I'll just pump out my measly 8 and be happy and try to push for 9.

Enjoy your day!

Margaret

Did the Ima Challenge...still 20 which I am proud of. I may have been able to do a few more but I did many with Cathe this morning, so that 20 was TOUGH (shaking at the end)

I did Muscle Max this morning and Kick Max (instead of Kenpo). I was going to do Kenpo but but it was too hard to turn my new videos away. I thought it would be o.k. to "double up" on the workouts because I never get the full effect of a workout until I have done it a few times. My review...loved them both! NO ONE puts it together like Cathe!

I did get new shoes...last night as a matter of fact! Thank you for asking. I didn't run today (did enough :p ). I did wear them during my workout though. Our treadmill has preprogrammed workouts that DH does and he said the hardest one would be a very light, easy workout for me. I may do it tonight or tommorrow just so I can get my shoes on.:p

Tommorrow I will stretch with Cathe. Have yet to stretch with Tony but Cathe is different. Never once have I felt "I need a Cathe break".

Well, i did do my spinerval today. My legs always feel so tough when i get off my spin bike.

I'm more relaxed today after my conflict with my sister in law yesterday. I'm convinced she's nuts :+ (hope that term doesn't offend anyone, but if you knew her you would understand). I have to keep telling myself it's her and not me. She does thinks to hurt people, then denies them, then lies and makes things up to accuse us of and it is all too much.:-( Other times, we get together and she is a great person to be around. I'm glad you people understand, it's nice to have someone to listen.

Sabine, i just have a pair of crosstrainers too, and not expensive ones, i spend most of my 'shoe money" on my running shoes. They seem to work just fine and i work out on carpeting.

Amazon, i'm with you on the leg workouts. I use cathe exclusively for leg work. I rarely get doms in the legs, so my leg workouts are preferable super hard.

I still didn't receive hardcore, they are coming from cksales.
Hopefully this week. I'm actually looking forward to the next three weeks p90x workouts. However, if hardcore arrives this week, i'm sure i'll have to do them.

Don't think i can double up like you guys though. I just can't find the time in my day!!

Wow! I just did Low Max and I was soaked when I finished. I didn't notice any music volume problems at all. What I did notice is that Cathe seems to be going back to her roots in workout music. The music reminded me more of the original Imax and Bodymax than her more recent Intensities and Body Blast series.

Another thing I noticed: there are no opening credits like there used to be (in CTX on through to the Body Blasts). It just gives you the copyright notices and then goes into the main menu.

The choreography in Low Max is simple enough that I could stumble through most of it without rewinding. But it is really, really tough on the leg muscles, especially the quads. Omigosh! It was hard in spots. As I get to know it better I know it will get even harder, as that is always the way with me and my fitness tapes. Um, DVDs. (Old habits die hard!)

Then I did the first segment of Stretch Max. I'd do the other two except I'm pooped. Off to the shower!

Ima Challenge today was SIXTEEN! That is huge for me, but I still don't feel like I am getting good depth. I am going to start focusing one day on numbers and then next on depth, every other day. Do you thinmk that will help?

speaking of Ima Challenge =- YOU GO GIRL! 20... I have push up envy. :)

Sabine - maybe you ought to stick to one workout a day and see if that helps your motivation level. You may just be burning yourself onut on the days that you double up and that might be making you lost motivation for the next day or two.

I did Kenpo yesterday and got a great workout. Some days you hit it and this was one of them. Today I did the first segment of Stretch max. I liked this a lot! I also previewed Muscle Max for tomorrow morning. Then I will pick up with P90X for the rest of the week. I will be one day behind ont he P90X rotation until they get to the StretchX day - which is when I will skip that one workout to catch up! I just wanted one more total body workout and no time like the present to see what Cathe put together! ;)

Ima Challenge for Sunday...22!!!! On 23 I colapsed...saking and quivering!

I did Stretch Max #1 today and liked it. Sore from Muscle Max yesterday...triceps are crying, shoulders and tush. My advice...don't underestimate the power of the green band! Leaves ya with a fire! That's the way I like it!!! I think it was the "mini leg presses" that have me sore!

Amazon...THANKS SISTER!!!

Timber...GREAT JOB!!! 16 is awesome! You are progressing fast! Are you as amazed as I am at how much progression the P90X is providing? When I started the series, 12 was so hard, that was only 3 weeks ago!

HEY LADIES...are you taking pictures? We are supposed to after eat Phase. I will be out of town the end of the week and over the weekend so DH took mine for me today. A little early but better than missing all together.

Sarah!!! OMG, you look great!!! Okay girlfriend, you know we're going to quiz you on the d work... what your diet is that keeps you so buff!!

And it's so nice to have a name for you, and you've coined a new challenge. I want to tell you, my Ima challenge today was 25 pushups. Yes, p90x has made me so much stronger at pushups, straight leg push ups. Still can't bring my chin up over the bar, but my back works just the same.

Gotta slight problem with the diet though, somehow pizza gets in there and a few beers every weekend. Unexpected friends stop by today, no workout, and pizza and beer. No wonder those abs aren't showing x(

Okay, week four is coming tomorrow. Hope we keep our group intact!!
