P90X Rut Busters - check in here!

Since there are so many of us, I think that a check in here, rather than email, should work out well! Chime in ladies! Today the challenge begins! GGGGggrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did my chest & back workout with Ab ripper this morning and my, was I humbled. This workout was very difficult and I've got a lot of work to do to master all of those push ups! And here I was worried that I might have negative effects by dropping Cathe for a while....

Hi All -

I'm doing the Lean Rotation so today for me was Core Synergistics. Not an easy workout. There were a fair number of push ups in that also. I previewed Ab Ripper over the weekend. Whew! Looks tough!

I'm not following the nutritional plan. Is anyone following it?

Hello everyone! So glad there are so many people interested in doing this!!

I did chest and back and ab this morning. Although I've taken a (rather weak) stab at this rotation before, I haven't done it in a while. So I feel like I'm right back where I was when I first tried it!! Although my form is a LITTLE better on the push-ups, I am doing them all on my knees, hoping to perfect the form and build up more strength before getting to the toes.

I'm using a pull-up bar in my basement, but the ceiling is not high enough for me to hang, so I hope I'm getting the full effect of it (WAY too tempting to put my feet on the floor when I'm tired). I've tried the bands once, but can you believe that one SNAPPED on me?? Broke right in the middle. It flung back and stung my knuckle pretty badly, but I was lucky it only hit my hand. And it was one that I bought from a gym supply store - so it was a pretty solid one! How are you guys finding the bands (those who are using it). Do you think you're getting a lot out of it? I'm a little traumatized from the one breaking on me so I'm nervous to try again.

As for the nutrition, I'm not doing their diet. I just have such a hard time following pre-set diets! I think I will just try to eat clean, and eat enough to keep my energy up to get through the whole rotation. I want to try to add more cardio to the weight days - so today for lunch hopefully I can sneak out and maybe do 30 mins on the treadmill or something.

I did Chest & Back like I was supposed to. I haven't been working out regularly for over a year, so today was really hard! And Ab Ripper, phew!

Thank you, Christine, for nudging me into this. As I told Christine, I hope you are all really mean, so if I slack off you will kick my fanny all over town.
 
You got it. NO SLACKING! We'll be keeping tabs.

Right now my tough day is going to be Thursday. I have class in NY at night so I have to go into work early to leave early. And that's Yoga day so it's a longer work out. I guess I just have to get up even EARLIER to do it. Don't let me slack on that one.

Just thinking about it makes me tired. And I find the yoga one pretty tough so it's SO easy for me to 'skip' it.

Not this time!!!
 
Good Morning all,

Was up early this morning to do my workout. Did half the pull ups with my
feet on a chair and the other half with the bands. This is my first time
doing P90X. I can already feel the soreness coming on in my arms.
The ab ripper really got my legs more than my abs. I think once I build up my strength this will improve.

I did my upperbody pyramid the entire tape. i just feel a little left back because i dont have the p90x. but i will continued the best that i can.

Dominican, if you are short on cash, don't order it. Sub with your Cathe titles. In my opinion, Cathe works the butt and legs much better than P90X. P90X is great for upper body, abs and core, but forget the lower body. (My opinion only, take it or leave it!)

This group is to break your rut, with or without P90X. As soon as Harcore comes in I'm going to be doing Hardcore titles, myself!

If you still want P90X, I think you can get it for $99 or so right now. I'd call Beachbody up and bargain them down. Tell them you're thinking about it, but heard you can get discounts and don't want to pay any more than what everyone else is paying.

I did that and got the same discounts everybody else was using eBates and some other coupon for. Don't be afraid to say, "well, that's still too much."

Or you can try the Video Fitness swap, or the Ya Ya's swap, even.

Edited to add:
Tomorrow is supposed to be Plyometrics X, but I'm going to be doing one of Cathe's interval-style workouts.
 
Well, i did chest and back today too. I thought i was alot tougher!! For the first round, i did at least 5 of each pushup (except diamond pushups) on my feet. Second round, forget it!! I did most of them on the knees. For the pull ups, i'm just pulling as hard as i can. I don't ever clear the bar, but i figure my back is working just as hard. I went really heavy for lawnmowers (heavy for me.. at 25 lbs) and had no problem.

I did a Cathe ab hits abs workout instead of ab ripper x.

I agree about the legs workout. Cathe's legs will sub just fine.
Iwill also be doing a cathe interval workout tomorrow instead of plyo x.

Now, are you guys subbing just for something different or is there something that you don't like about the PlyoX workout? Originally I was going to sub it but then I previewed it and decided to give it a try. Fill me in!

I haven't received the series yet, I am hoping I get it in the mail this week!!

I was GOING to do PUB today to kind of "be on track" with you guys but Saturday was my all cardio day and yesterday was my rest day, so I really felt like I needed to hit the whole body with something. That being said, I did Muscle Endurance then ran on the treadmill for an hour.

I cannot wait to receive P90x! I went to Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday and picked up some resistance bands. I bought the "Pro Gym" by GoFit. It came with three bands, a carrying case, door attachment, ankle straps, poster and a workout dvd...all for $30.00. I think I will like it a lot because the bands "clip" on and I can have all 3 of them clipped on at the same time for added resistance. Can't do bicep curls like that but I tried!
 
Wow!! That sounds like a great deal!!

Don't worry if you're a week behind - You will be a fun new motivator when you get it. I love hearing the first opinions about the programs!!

Dominican1 - If you really don't have the money, then I definitely don't want to push you into getting P90X if you're already getting hardcore. BUT, if you can get a good deal on it that's affordable for you, I do think it is a nice, different set of DVDs that is fun to do as a change. It really is a completely different style then any other I've seen. Maybe hardcore series will be similiar, but I don't know. I like the change every once in a while.

I'm going to try to do the program with as little substitutions as I can stand. When I need more cardio or legs I'll probably just do them in addition - with running on a treadmill or something. I just think that there's something in the way the whole program is set up that it may work better if I try to follow it exactly!
 
Here we go on DAY TWO! Did my Plyo workout this morning. DID YOU!?

This was tougher than I thought too, which seems to be the theme with these workouts for me. My hip flexors are ON FIRE! I think that I got some of the flare from the ab workout - does this mean that I am doing something wrong? Is some of the tension absorbed in the hip flexors during that workout?

I've already noticed a change in my eating. When I am killing myself to workout, I tend to not want to eat junky food and blow it. :p

Hi All!

Today for Lean Rotation was Cardio X. I'm a bit sore in my lower abs today from Core Synergistics yesterday. I think Cardio X is on the par in intensity with some of the Cathe cardio workouts, except that I'm thinking so far that P90X is more low impact.

I agree, Christine. I'm watching what I eat a bit better. Don't want to do all this work for nothing!!

I think Cathe should really take a look at P90X and follow up with someonething similar. In P90X you pick the weight, the reps, the tempo. You then have time to write it down, grab a drink, etc... the best workout system you can buy at the moment.

Taking into account everyone. Reps. Weight. Targets. Etc...

Plus, and this is really something to think about.

P90X 12 workouts. Price $120.

Cathe Hardcore 11 workouts. Price $249

I have to tell you all that this check in is really working for me!! My hubby took the later train in this morning, which I drove him to, so I was behind on my morning schedule. Normally, I would say, boy, I can't be late to work, I should get in then hope to do my workout tonight. Then when I would get home in the evening, I would say, boy, I should really be making dinner instead, since it is already so late.
BUT NOT TODAY!!!
I couldn't bear the thought of ALREADY having to admit I'm slacking! So here I am, just getting into work. But hey! Plyo's DONE!!

Christine - Ab Ripper X really does get the hip flexors, and hits them hard. In the beginning of the workout Tony says that this is core work, and he mentions how it works the hip flexors. I actually think if you are sore there it is a sign you're doing it RIGHT, not wrong. It's those first four exercises in AbX that kill them for me.

My son had to finish a homework project--in my workout space! So rather than fight it, I went outside and did a short run. I hate running, but I wanted to work up a sweat and get some fresh air.

I am so out of shape, I ALMOST DIED, but did it anyway. Now I'm sweaty and stinky and off to a shower.
 
Sorry? My personal Vendetta? What vendetta? I have never said a bad word about Cathe or SNM have i? If so, perhaps you could be so kind as to point me in the right direction. Tiresome would suggest i've said/done this before? I have not. Again, sorry, i was under the impression that this was an open forum. Clearly i was mistaken, well, according to Amazon. I was, after all, if you read my comment, saying how great P90X is and how great they are with regard to reps, rest, tempo, etc...

Amazon, complian all you want.

Dominican1 - how are you doing with your Cathe subsitutions? Or did you decide to give in and order?

Wendy - Did you do a Cathe Interval today??

Amazon - I'm jealous that you can still go out for a run!! For me it would be more like mountain climbing!! Snow mountain climbing!!!
