P90X PLUS reviews.

1. For those that don't have one, what substitutions are you doing for abs using the pull up bar (or if you do, what ones would you recommend)?

I have the pullup bar so I don't really know what subs that you could make for the hanging abs. I have raved about my BB pullup bar, I LOVE it!! I just got it a few weeks ago and it is awesome!! I use it in my bedroom door so I still have to run up & down the stairs to use it, but before I was running out to the freezing garage so this is MUCH better!

2. Are all of you P90X "graduates?" And how long ago did you complete it? I did P90X like 3 years ago :)

Yep, I've finished 2 rounds of P90X, my last round I finished in November and then did a month of Lean doubles before starting the X+.

3. Kenpo: It seemed like a bunch of the segments repeated themselves. Is that the case? Was it a good workout? (I actually bought this series so I could have another Kenpo!)

I really didn't enjoy the first Kenpo (I think I've done it twice, I always sub in a run!), but I really love Kenpo+!! It is some repeats but they're good ones!! I love the end segment w/ the Gladiators, Spinning Swords, etc. You end w/ a good sweat!

Hope that helps & feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

I use the flowbar (flowbar.net) for the bar work, and instead of both legs up at a time, I do one then the other - you can still make it hard without pulling on your joints....the workouts are excellent

Christine,

I recently purchased the Door Gym and am very happy with it. On Amazon, it's about $15 cheaper than Beachbody's. Wish I'd had it when I was doing the X b/c it's way tougher than using the bands.

I did one round of the X last spring. Right now I am not doing an X+ rotation but am incorporating the new w/outs into my current heavy lifting rotation.

Kenpo X+ is structured so that you do several kick/punch combos followed by a brief cardio "break" before you repeat the exercises again. Then there's another short cardio break, and you move on to new combos. So, yes, you do each set twice. However, it didn't feel too repetitive, IMO. I thought time passed quickly and it worked up a good sweat and was fun.

Just want to clarify my earlier post with regard to KenpoX+. It breaks down like this:

Yoga Warmup
1st set of drills
cardio break (1 min.)
repeat 1st set of drills
cardio break (1 min.)
2nd set of drills (new moves)
cardio break (1 min.)
repeat 2nd set
cardio break (1 min.)
3rd set of drills
cardio break (1 min.)
repeat 3rd
cool down

Anne is an AMAZING coach. She has always been so helpful and is just a very cool person.

BTW-I am also loving these workouts. The results from the strength workouts are happening much quicker than I expected-which is a good thing:)
