P90X - Live on QVC - 4/30

Always gotta mention Tosca!! :p Hilarious! The funny thing is, now whenever I see her books I think of Beavis!!!!! }(

Beavs, I know I'm the biggest champion of Larabars around here, but, as I've mentioned before, I don't actually LIKE them the way I LIKE (LOVE) Lunabars. I just eat them cuz they're good for me. And I never eat Lunabars cuz they're not. :(

Now, PLEASE tell me what you don't like about P90X so I can tell whether I'm going to like it. I'm dying to know!!

I do have one P90X question for those who are familiar with it. I have found that I don't like fast movements. I don't do Cathe's step workouts because everything moves so quickly and my brain can't keep up with my feet. I didn't like Squeeze because the movements were so fast they made me dizzy. I like slow, deliberate movements that challenge my body, but NOT my brain, and that don't give me motion sickness. Based on those criteria, do you think I would like P90X? Thanks.

Hey Nancy! P90X is all about slow and controlled movements for lifting weight and going at your *own* speed. Tony basically tells you what exercise you're doing and then you pick the weight that you think you can lift. And you can easily pause if you need more time. The cardio is pretty easy to follow also, I think he made it that way because a lot of men like the program and most men I know aren't coordinated enough to handle a Cathe step workout!!!!  You can always sub in a different cardio if you want to, but the strength training is AWESOME! Also, for those that don't care for Tony, you can always just get the moves down from the DVD's and then just use the manual to do the workouts on your own. There are downloadable worksheets that you can use to track your weight and reps which I have found VERY helpful. I love seeing progress!!

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions! I've been using it for over a year now and finally have my dh joining in with me. He's getting super results as well!! :)

Okay Nancy,

I'm like you. I've heard about this and I've been on the fence about spending the money and ordering it. I started about a year ago by buying the Ab Ripper DVD on eBay and Tony annoyed the crap out of me. I did think it was a good workout, though, so I broke down and bought Power 90 which came out before P90x. Again, he's annoying as anything but it's such a great workout, that I don't even notice it anymore.

So anyhooooo....I FINALLY ordered it this morning from QVC! (thanks for the heads up, ladies)Yay! Can't wait to get it.

I'm hoping it lives up to all the great feedback about it on here. Must get in tip top shape to rub in the face of the man who just dumped me because he still has "unresolved feelings for his ex-girlfriend". oops, sorry...I digress! :)

Kickie

Kickie and Nancy - In the beginning:) I didn't care for Tony at all! I thought how arrogant and a potty mouth:eek: My DH told me he was calling Cathe and telling her I was cheating! (I've never worked out to anybody else!) He said "that guy" just doesn't even sound right coming out of the tv!!! I've come to really enjoy Tony's odd sense of humour! He really cracked me up one time he said "oh, I split my pants" and immediately after said "oh, no I didn't" and just kept going like he never even said it!

I wasn't sure how I was going to get through 3 straight weeks rotating the same workouts - but each individual workout flies by...and so did those 3 weeks. I cannot believe I'm finishing up week 5 already!

I personally don't care for the Plyometrics but that's only because I have a knee that hurts if I do too many airborne moves! I subsituted Imax2 for it last week! KenpoX could push me just a tad more (IMO)!

As far as results....I'm seeing great strength results! I never did really know what people meant when they said this...I "thought" I did...but since I've started this workout I'm now starting to do straight leg push-ups!!!!:D AND, I can definitely see definition in my arms.

My only regret is that I didn't take before pictures and measurements! Honestly - I didn't think I'd stick to anything other than Cathe workouts....I was using this as an in-between and something different before STS arrived.....

I'M HOOKED!!:)

Yippee Tina!! I felt the same way, I had seen Power 90 and thought Tony was sooo annoying. But now I just think he's hilarious and my brother and I often talk in *Tonyisms*... Cheeseburgers... bad.... drink your water people! :)

Awesome work with the straight leg pushups. Thankfully with Cathe I was already doing them, but I can do a LOT more now. But pullups I could NOT do when I started so now that I can it's still a great accomplishment for me! Take your measurements NOW!! ;-)

P90X -Another question

HI all,

I've been on the fence about this as well. The Ebay idea intrigues me - can I ask, what are the names of the individual workouts? OR if I type in Tony Horton on the search, will they bring it up that way? Also, which ones are your favs?

I definitely would rather try one workout before I spend that much on another workout system (since I am patiently waiting for STS!).

TIA,
Tricia

I just find Tony irritating and I don't like the horrendously crappy music. The workouts are quality workouts but I think Cathe is far more innovative on every count. If I had to choose between STS and P90X it wouldn't really be a choice---I'd go with STS sight unseen. So, in short, while I don't really acre for P90X I would still recommend it. We'll see is that changes when STS hits the streets....

RE: P90X -Another question

Tricia,
if you go to the beachbody site you can see each workout! My favorite is Shoulders and Arms! Next would be Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. Can't tell I love upper body can ya?:7

Jess, that's funny! If my DH says something like why do you have so much energy? I'll say because of the X and I'll cross my arms in front of me, or if he looks at me I'll say "Bring It"!!!}(

After hearing so much talk about P90X I'm interested in giving it a try. I was reading some older posts and some people recommended starting out with P90 first...I was on amazon.com and seen that the workouts consist of circuits and some cardio. My question is is it really necessary to buy this series? Couldn't I just follow the same rotation using some of Cathe's dvd's? and if so does anyone know how the rotation goes? Dont really want to get out my credit card for this purchase if I can do the same routine at home with different dvds...Thanks :)

I have this and I agree with Tina - I can finally do "big girl" pushups. I don't understand why, what's different about this that made it possible, but after about 6 weeks, I was on my toes. I love the Yoga workout, really dislike AbRibber (I just find the moves very uncomfortable - but I swap that out with Cathe instead). I like the Core Synergistics a lot, even though I've only done it once or twice (I haven't been good in the last few weeks about sticking to P90X - I've been using Cathe stuff). His moves are different from hers. The music is just background noise in the DVDs as are the sets. Nothing "inspiring" here, but they are effective. Legs is okay - different moves. I like it actually for days when I don't feel "up to" a Cathe legs workout. The Kenpo is just dumb. Again, good for an "off" day but not a challenging cardio workout at all. I do like the idea of mixing these workouts in with Cathe stuff, just for the pure variety of it. With that said, I am quite certain that STS is going to blow this stuff out of the water!! I'm using P90X to get myself warmed up for STS.

Oh wow! NY25!!!!! I couldn't have said this any better! I feel EXACTLY the way you do about KenpoX. It's scheduled for today, but I'm doing Cathe's KPC!!! KenpoX would almost be a "warm-up" to KPC, ya think? I like Core Synergistics - not so crazy about AbRipperX! It's an excellent "hip-flexor" workout! HA!

I'm thinking I'll be purchasing more dumbells for STS after doing P90X! That's A Good Thing!:7

He does have one saying in Legs & Back that I love:
"HAPPINESS IS THIS RIGHT HERE".....and he kind of sings it...really cute!
