CLASSIC/PHASE 2/WEEK 7/DAY 4

Hey Xers!:)

I have spin this morning and yoga later on today.

My legs are still sore from BC the other day!}(

Angie, WOW-you had a busy day y'day. Good job fitting it all in!

Hope everyone is doing well today!

Morning Ladies ..
(Phase 2 - week 8 - recovery - day 4 - my version classic)

OK .. what is going on .. I have DOMS in my arms from KenpoX ... I am shocked! guess that thick humid air gave me some resistance!! lol

Wendy .. you are like me .. making up your own version of Classic!

Today is a light run on the treadmill .. then tonight yoga!

Angie .. have you had your weigh-in yet??? We all want to know .. and all holding our breath .. crossing our fingers .. and sending positive energy your way!!!

Where has Nancy been .. did she check in yesterday?

OK .. gotta run .. a busy day here too .. more catch up work .. yesterday was excrutiatingly LOOOOOOONG here at work .. hoping today goes by faster!!

Hey .. our temps are supposed to get up to 75 degrees today !! WOW .. I can not beleive it .. gives me spring fever .. think we are going to be in the 70's thru next week .. and the nights temps in the high 40's .. WOW a huge change from last week!!!

have a great day .. great workouts ... and I will check back later here!

Laura: I had major DOMS from KenpoX, you are not alone on that one. It felt absolutely wonderful, though.}(

I have step class tonight so I will do Shoulders and Arms w/ARX tomorrow. }( I love that workout!

I gained 1 pound at weigh-in last night, but I still have my head up high, I'm hoping it's all the muscle I'm building.

I'll be back later.
Marcia.

Marcia .. I said Angie .. sorry!

Like I said .. I figured you may have gained some or not seen any loss .. b/c the first phase of P90x .. I gained weight .. and I NEVER gain weight .. but I LOST inches .. so that is nothing but muscle ..

You keep your head up .. and KNOW that it is beautiful muscle you have added and .. remember the MORE muscle you have on your body .. the MORE calories YOU BURN w/o effort!! it is the best deal you can ask for .. more shape .. and more effecient calorie burn!!

I am still sending that positive energy ..

and I hope you took pictures and measurments . b/c they will show what that stupid scale won't!!

actually my measurements in my upper body increased .. and my lower body shrank .. but that mirror shows what the numbers do not!!

Keep up the good work!!!:7 :7 :7

Hey Everybody -

Thanks for noticing my absence yesterday, Laura! I think I was feeling alittle down-and-out yesterday and don't really know why. I spent a good part of the day with my mom and her caretaker (yeah, don't ask - it's a nightmare). I miss my mom - the way she used to be. It's very hard and I've been dealing with it for a long time. I know it's much worse for her and yet I left feeling sorry for myself. When you're dealing with stuff like this (at least for me) it can be a very lonely place. I'm feeling pretty lonely!!!!

Well, off that soapbox - - I also have a lot to be greatful for. I have lovely young girls that I have been blessed with. My life is good in so many ways.

Okay, I totally blew off Yoga on Tuesday and was feeling guilty about it and couldn't move on. So I did about a half hour last evening of Yoga X. I've tried different Yoga dvds lately but I think I like Tony's the best. Today is Back & Legs which I like doing.

I finished reading Clean Eating and am trying to put the principles in place. I ran to a Trader Joe's (I don't have one in the area) and bought some Ezekiel bread. If you haven't tried it you're really missing something. I love it!!!!! I also bought some steel cut oatmeal, ground flaxseed, and other stuff. The book really spells it out for you. I don't think I learned anything new reading the book - we know it already. I just like the way this book is written.

Okay, I'm sorry for being missing in action yesterday. I was on the boards but all I did was lurk - which is more normal for me. I'll never catch up to Wendy with all of her posts but I'll keep on trying. Wendy, I like the way you join in on everything!!!

Is anyone considering going to the roadtrip? Just curious.

Have a great day!!!!!!:) :) :)

Nancy

hey Nancy!!

bless your heart .. I know what it is like dealing w/aging parents .. and parents w/disabilites .. my Father was in a wreck and suffered brain damage .. long story short . he lost his short term memory but had his long term memory .. so he could not be left alone .. b/c he could have harmed himself (leaving stove on ..burning himself .. wandering off and forgetting where he lived.. etc) ... sometimes he was completely normal ... other times not ..(he lived w/it for about 12 years and every year the dementia from the brain damage worsened) .. before his death we had one Christmas that he was his normal self .. I knew that was the one moment of clarity we were blessed with and he would soon be gone .. he died the following March! But what a blessing to have him a live .. but what a situation to have a grown man virtually reduced to being a child ..

Not knowing your situation .. I can truely say that aging parents .. or parents suffering from disabilities can takes it's toll!

I out of nowhere developed panic attacks .. and nerves were shot .. and every time the phone rang would jump ... worry consumed me .. it seemed it was always something .. never a break .. my mother was a wreck ... so I had 2 kids to deal with in a sense (good thing i don't really have children .. lol)

since his death .. no more panick attacks .. and although many did not understand I had a peace .. I knew he was not suffering .. I knew he was with God!

Know you are not alone!! Exercise - a loving husband and family and friends - prayer ... and meditation/yoga got me thru it!! Hang in there!!:)

Thanks, Laura!!! Your post made me cry.

My Dad died a long time ago and I promised that I would take care of Mom. I'm just like an only child (oh....I have a brother who comes by once in a while when it's convenient for him as "it's too hard for me to see Mommy like this" as his excuse) so it's all on me. My husband is very helpful and understanding and has done so much for me and my Mom. You know, it's funny. Just as my kids (who I nurtured from the time they were born) were growing into young ladies, BAMMM - I was hit with this. It's going on five years now. I thank God everyday that Mom was a saver and that's what I'm using to take care of her. I know what nursing homes are like, so that's not an option.

I do think it's taking a toll on my personal life though. I sometimes feel I'm putting my own life on hold - waiting for what, I don't know, and the years feel like they're slipping by. Funny....I've never verbalized this out loud before...lol...still haven't as I just typed this, right?

Well, I don't want to bring the energy of this thread down. I know we all have our crosses to bear and they make us stronger.

Talk about stronger......I definitely am stronger since the X. I can do a full 9 - 10 toe pushups (sometimes more) when I couldn't even do one when I started this. I do modify a lot of what Tony does and haven't even considered a pull-up bar or anything. I'm happy with the bands and I'm just going to leave it at that.

I'm glad I have exercise as a diversion to my everyday life. I'm sure it has helped me in more ways than I know.

Thanks again, Laura!!!!!

Nancy

That is it Nancy .. concentrate on positive energy!!

9 - 10 toe pushups .. I AM IMPRESSED!!! ...

one of my retired friends and I talk on e-mail everyday .. she has heard so much from me about P90x that she bought the Power90 series .. and just started .. she LOVES it .. and was fussing about the push ups ..

.. if you remember when I started that was my biggest thing I complained about .. I actually found myself telling her not to worry .. even though they start out hard .. Tony has a way of making you WANT to do them .. and WANT to do better at them every time .. LOL ..

I cracked myself up as I "typed" it b/c I would have never thought those words would come out of my mouth .. LOL

BTW .. I am even more sore in my arms now from Kenpo .. ... what it up w/that?/ LOL .. but yoga tonight will make me forget all about that .. LOL!!!

have a great one everyone!:7

Hey Ladies!:)

Laura: Yeah, I've added in a bit of cardio and an extra leg day to the X. I am doing Tony's weight work by the book though. Hope your day at work is flyin' by!:)

Nancy: I am sorry for your troubles. Try to keep your chin up and don't be afraid to let your emotions out when they start to well up on you. Good for you that you are stronger! That means the X is doing it's job!:+

Marcia: A pound up is no biggie and I'll bet it's X related. If you keep your diet reasonably clean you could drop a couple of pounds. Even if you don't though, don't sweat it. You are probably still getting desirable results which you will realize when you measure!:D

Well, I'm up from a nap now. I was quite beat up after spin. For some reason that work out takes more outta me then a run! I can't decide if I want to do any yoga before DS gets up or just hold off until later....Eh...I'll probably hold off....:)

Thanks for all of the well-wishes girls!!! I feel better just talking about it.

AND......I guess I am stronger!!! (lol) I'm still flabby in spots but I bet there are awesome muscles under there...

I have a question about Tony's lunges. Why does he do them with a straight back leg when Cathe has always done them at 90 degrees? I'm not complaining because they seem easier this way (lol), I was just wondering about it.

Marcia, I'm sure you gained a pound of pure muscle. Way to go!!! Keep bringing it!!!!

Have a good evening! I picked up a cooked chicken at Costco, so that and asparagus and a bagged salad and I'm calling it dinner. }(

Nancy

Hi Ladies,

Well today should have been kenpo x, but I did Imax instead. I do my own version of the classic rotation too.

Wendy-great job doing spin and yoga in the same day. Isn't great to be able to feel your muscles when you've really worked them!

Laura-I've been really busy at work too. Hope you enjoy your yoga workout tonight. I'm starting to like yoga more and more. Okay, not as much as lifting and cardio though.

Marcia-don't worry about the weight gain. I'm one of those who's weight goes up and down at my weigh ins as well. I've never been one to lose everyweek and it can be very discouraging at times. I just keep on following the program and eventually the weight does come off.
Good Work!

Nancy-Sorry to hear about your mom. It is always difficult to watch someone you love start to fade. I too have read the clean eating book and also liked it. Like you said, nothing new. I already eat egg whites w/peppers & tomato, and steel cut oats for breakfast every work day. I didn't know Cathe had posted a roadtrip! I'll have to check that out.

Diana

Hello Xers!

Today was the dreaded Yoga. Only one more time of Yoga for me and then no more for quite some time I'm sure}( I had to do Yoga with the boys home today, which I hate, because it sure is hard to concentrate when all you hear is bickering in the backgroundx( School was cancelled because it froze last night after a lot of snow melted yesterday and the back roads were wicked icy.

Marcia - don't worry about the weight gain. I did the same thing the first month, then started losing about 6 weeks afterwards. So far, I've lost a total of 14 pounds and I feel sooooo much better. I haven't really lost a lot of inches, but looking at my pictures, it is obvious that I have firmed up a lot! How can anyone not get firm with the X??;)

Nancy - So sorry to hear about your situation with your mom. Of all the situations I saw at the hospital, dementia was always the most difficult for families to deal with. I think dementia is so hard because it's just not fair to look at someone and know everything about them, yet know that it's not really them staring back at you. Hugs to you!!

Diana - Imax? Oh, I am so jealous!! Only 1.5 weeks away and I too will be imaxing away and probably puking my guts out. After the X, I think challenging cardio is gonna just about kill me :D

I don't even know what's on tap for tomorrow. When I got done, I turned off the TV and got the heck out of dodge. LOL I guess it will be a surprise.:)

Chat wth ya tomorrow.....

Angie
