P90X January Starters, Thursday

Hey Xers!

Classic/Phase 1/Week 4/Day 4 (Recovery)

So today has X Stretch on tap, tomorrow Core Syn and Sat is YogaX. Well, I am changing that to YogaX today, Core Syn tomorrow and *MAYBE* X Stretch on Saturday. I already committed myself to taking my (required) class at the gym on Saturday and don't really feel like adding a 90 minute yoga session to that. I may not want to do an hour long stretch either but I will try to do atleast SOME of X stretch. Maybe I'll do half sat and half on Sunday...I'll see what happens.:)

I'm still feeling cr@ppy. :-( I'm not sick enough to take a rest day as I'm not running a fever or anything. I just have a bunch of super annoying symptoms that make life a little more difficult. ACK! LOL

Angie: Thanks for refusing to do Yoga X on a Saturday! Your post from last night inspired me to change around my schedule as well!:)

DB: How's your eating? }(

Classic/Phase 2/Week 5/Day 2

Good Morning!!

Yesterday was Chest,Shoulders, Triceps. I liked this workout alot! There were many exercises but none repeated, which I prefer. The pushups were killers.....of course, I couldn't do one handed, plyo, and others but I tried. Then I just dropped to my knees and did regular ones. I'm already feeling it this morning.

I STILL didn't do measurements. By the time I get home from work, and after having eaten all day, I really would prefer to do it in the morning. I'll have my daughter help me Saturday morning and then I'll report.

My tailbone is still bothering me. ???? What the heck??? Whatever.... I did Power Hour Abs last night. I'm giving up ARX for now and all rolls. I'm too old and don't want to get hurt because then I'd have to kill myself if I couldn't workout.

I hope everyone who's not feeling well gets better quickly. I hate not feeling well!!!!!!

Thanks Gayle - for remembering!!! I hope you enjoyed the Lion King and that it wasn't tooooooo cold running around Manhattan.

Good Morning Ladies - (Phase 2 - week 5 - day 4 - my version of classic)

OK .. I am STILL sore from the tricep/shoulder workout .. ?? .. the later in the day yesterday .. the worse it got .. I rolled over this morning and thought .. you gotta be kidding .. but yup .. STILL SORE!

Today is Bicep/Back .. heck might as well make the other part of my arms hurt too .. LOL .. this is the first time for this one .. so I am looking forward to it .. but my biceps are actually weaker than my triceps .. so ??? .. I am sure I will be complaining about this workout!! LOL

Tonight .. NO CLASS .. yeah!!!

SIL is still hanging in .. she missed yesterday .. was too sore .. but today she says she is going to attempt the bicep back one and then we are going for a quick run this afternoon .. she has never tried Cardio Coach .. so I am lending her mine to see if she likes it!

Have a question for you gals .. I have noticed since doing p90x . . I can not stretch my chest as well.. the stretch: hands clasped behind back .. raise arms up .. well .. used to I could put them behind my back and raise them up probably almost at my should blade .. now it seems my lat muscles are preventing me doing that .. have any of you noticed anything similar???

ALSO .. one other question .. my hips/butt seem to be shrinking majorly .. (I have small hips anyway and don't need them to shrink - I have a thicker abdomen and I look out of porportion)??? just wondering??? I have not measured since the beginning .. maybe I should just to check .. ??

OK .. weather is crappy . . body is sore .. have the PMS monster sneaking up on me .. but trying to lift my spirits and get ready for another torture session!!}(

Yes, Laura, you're right!!! I'm getting more sore as the day goes on. I love it! You know what I noticed though? My lats are REALLY SORE! How are my lats sore from doing Chest/Shoulders/Triceps??? I love it!

I have not noticed the difference in my chest stretch but, then again, I was never able to raise my hands up to my shoulder blades. You must be very flexible.

Unfortunately, I haven't noticed my hips/butt shrinking majorly - I wish I did. I guess we have opposite problems, lol. But, I am going to measure on Saturday and let you know what I find.

and if you noticed your lats were sore .. maybe that IS part of it .. maybe my lats are really kicking in on the pushups .. b/c like I have said b-4 I have never really worked my upper body hard like this .. ?? ..

I have always been smaller WIDTH wise in the hips .. always have had a bubble butt and small hips (therefore the name POOCHY given to me by my husband .. lol .. ya'll probably thought my nickname was from my love animals .. LOL)

guess my shape is the athletic ruler shape ..kinda lean and muscular .. small hips .. kinda thick middle .. and regular shoulders (although they are now bigger) .. think I need to up my leg work to keep up w/the upper body .. I don't want to look like one of those top heavy .. little stick legs body builder bodies .. LOL

today was legs and back.... i'm ready for a different leg routine! i wish he had made two of these! and we've already discussed he should have done at least one or tow additional abs workouts for us!

during the first exercise i was a little worried cuz my legs were feeling it..... but all wa OK in the end.... i added weights to all the ones he called for weight and even added weight to the sneaky lunges and even added weight to the deadlift ones where he says not to use weight.... oh... and groucho walks... i add weight to those too.... but i've done that in previous weeks....

i did the 30 minute timesave spinerval last night.... not too bad of a workout considering it was short... but then... it is EVIL coach troy! lol!

as i mentioned above... i've stayed on track with the eating since my choco/macadamia nut fiasco!

I am back after the bicep/back .. and let me say .. OMG ....

First .. WOW .. I never knew there were so many ways to work your biceps ..

Second .. I will not be able to straighten my arms out tomorrow .. I look like I have the DT's .. my arms are trembling so bad!! LOL

I actually LOVE this workout .. it moved so quickly and I loved all the different angles the exercises were done ... WOW!!

get ready to hear some {more} complaining tommorrow!!:7
 
Hey Laura -

Just came back from lunch and I could barely drive. I felt it everywhere. My lats hurt just to touch them.

Tonight is Plyo for me (with modifications). I'm not doing any big-time jumping with my knees feeling this twinge. Tommorrow is Back and Biceps for me and I'm looking forward to trying it. I did read that the Bicep workout was overkill. Do you agree?

I'll look forward to your complaints tomorrow!!!!

Good Afternoon everyone,

I am home with a sick child today and am very busy with work. I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday but will go back and check everyone elses post. Later today I will be doing Back and Biceps for the first time.

Wendy-we have colds and fever running through my house now. I certainly hope you feel better soon.

Nancy-I took my measurements at the beginning of January and will take them again on Sunday. Yeah..I couldn't do those one handed pushups either. I did standard pushups as best as I could. Keep up the good work.

Poochy-I wish my hips were shrinking:) I am blessed with a bubble butt but have a little too much back there now if you know what I mean. I'm glad to hear you liked back and biceps, I'm looking forward to that workout today.

DB-Legs and Back does get boring after awhile. I too add weights to the leg portion also. How is your eating? I re-joined WW and hope to take off a few pounds.

Hi all

Yay!! Yoga is done for the second time this week - thank goodness! Tomorrow is Core Syn and Saturday is stretch X.

I'll be glad to start Phase 3 - I'm missin the upperbody workouts and I still get good DOMS from the legs workout too, but agree that another one here would be good. P90X2 - doesn't that sound great?!?

I am noticing that my arms seem to have more veins than before - at least they seem more noticable. Anyone else experience this?

Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'll have to do pics and measurements over the weekend. Hopefully they will be better than the first set. Even if I don't see a whopping difference, I'll be happy. I really like the arm workouts and can't wait to mix and match these workouts with Cathe. I've seen a lot of neat looking routines on sparkpeople and on this site intermixing the 2 routines. I can't wait to give it a whirl.

Hope all you sickies are feeling well again - drink your green tea and drink lots of water. My son is coming down with it now, so I'm staying away from him - lol - and stocking up on the green tea. So far he just has a cough but I've been down this road before.... :(

Hey! I'm w/Angie...YOGA X is DONE for the 2nd time this week for me too!:+ It felt good but I was actually thinking of quitting after the first section. I bucked up and saw it through though and I'm glad that I did. :)

I am beginning to notice a decrease in my appetite now that I am nearing the end of the recovery week. Makes sense though. Far less calorie burn going on this week then prior even though the work outs not EASY. I've actually dropped a pound or 2 as well but I have to wonder if I will put it back on once the weight work starts back up again??

Nancy, I'm excited to get to the Chest, Shoulders and Triceps work out. I'm glad to hear that you liked it! So what's up with your tailbone? I think I missed the original post. How did you hurt it? I hurt my tailbone many moons ago in my early 20's. I was waaaay too drunk at the time and fell down hard on my backside onto a hard tile floor. The next morning I could barely get out of bed and ever since it still bothers me in certain positions, etc.

Laura, Nothin' like a good hard work out to combat the PMS monster! Take advantage and work even HARDER! }(

DB, Thanks for the well wishes. I *think* I'm starting to get a bit better. Voice is better atleast. I am coughing now more then I was before though. I guess the congestion is shifting a bit. Hopefully it will shift right out of me ASAP! LOL What's Tommy's? Is that a restaraunt or is it a person's house? What kind of food?

Diana, I hope your son/daughter feels better fast. How did you enjoy Back and Biceps?

Angie, So will you be revealing your pics, etc. at the end of the program? I intend to...unless ofcourse I am the only brave soul...then I may not!:p LOL
