P90X Grads & Nancy -- tuesday

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Morning, ladies! :)

I'm still all for a shorter thread name, if anyone has any ideas. Maybe something that creatively expresses the mentality I *think* we all seem to share, which is work hard, play hard. Or maybe CABs and Abs. haaaaa :p

Diana :: hey, I think it's awesome! You get in numerous killer w/outs each day. Rock on!! :)

Wendy :: weather wasn't all that ideal for a pool day, so we wound up hanging inside, eating Chinese food and shootin' the breeze. Great job with DM! We will have to have a CAB on Saturday to celebrate your cert!

Angie :: I needed the makeup tutorial, too...I looked at the BE and Ulta sites, and Ulta is cheaper for the starter kit. Plus, they have free shipping for orders over $50. You can also order BE through QVC... I know you're shopping around and I don't want to sound like an employee :), but you if you do wind up going with BE, I recommend the Prime Time foundation primer. It doesn't come in the kit, but it is good to put on before you apply any of the makeup. I have to warn you, though, that I am *completely* hooked on the stuff and wound up going back to the store to buy the eye starter kit, lip pencil, lip stick, and gloss - all of which I'm very happy with, though. But if you like it, be prepared to spend!...I want to stop there today and get a product called Lip Revver Upper - it's supposed to help lipstick from feathering, and with my lip situation (super chapped b/c of the meds), I think I need that stuff!

OK, I need to get ready to head out there. It'll be a run this AM and then Leaner Legs later on after tutoring.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning everyone!

DOMS abounds in my hips, butt and inner thighs from DM y'day. WOOH!}(

Today will be a TM run...hmmmm...which ITread should I do??? ;)

Cathy: Did someone say CABS? You got it! :9 I never used to like Chinese food all that much but it's grown on me in the past couple of years and now that you mentioned it, I want it! LOL Have fun with LL...hope you can walk tomorrow!

Angie: Busy girl! I kinda dread Joey getting into school and wanting to play sports. I hear so many moms talk about how much time it takes up. ICK! LOL I hate sports!:p Oh, I'm seriously blushing now, btw! Thanks for the kudos though. I do appreciate it. :+

BBL!

Morning Ladies!

another SCORCHER today .. under a heat advisory again .. high of 100 and heat index to 110 .. YIKES!:( .. but that keeps my collections low for the day .. no cut offs!!:) It was 80 degrees when I left the house this morning ..

Did long circuit class last night and YES .. it was TOUGH!! the humidity levels are so freaking high that we were all uber drenched w/sweat .. had one girl that scared me .. she overheated ..

Today is BBC at lunch .. and tonight is cardio-kickboxing .. IF the heat permits ..

Angie . . www.everydayminerals.com .. is the site .. you can get on there and read all about it .. has testimonials etc .. the only thing I did NOT really like is that it does NOT come w/an instructional video .. but the site is quite helpful and gives a good HOW TO .. but it took me about a week to get the hang of it .. I could not get used to just putting powder on my face for foundation .. and used to much in the begginning .. LESS IS MORE is very true in the mineral makeup application! The starter kit will last you some time .. I have several friends that have ordered it .. all w/different skin types and they LOVE it .. I have normal skin w/maybe a T-zone occasional oilyness .. so I went w/Semi-matt .. and it is perfect .. I tried the Original Glo but found it too shiny (not from oil but it gives your skin a kinda shine.. and I did not like that) .. the samples are free .. and you can order as many as you like to find the perfect color .. you just pay the shipping!

.. OH .. and YESSSSS .. I will be scuba diving on vacation .. taking underwater pics .. and hopefully snagging some lobsters!!! mmm mmm mmm .. one of the couples going w/us are having a MAJOR fight right now .. JEEZE .. hope they get it resolved b-4 the trip .. they can be volotile you know?? they both need to grow up .. I don't want to spend vacation w/a couple nit picking and putting off bad vibes .. they might find themselves LEFT .. LOL!!

Cathe .. will be thinking on a new name for us .. I like "the girls of summer" .. but uummm summer will soon be gone!x( ...

Diana .. IA w/Wendy .. THREE workouts a day .. WOW!!! How do you do it and work???? (I thought I was bad)

Wendy .. CONGRATS on the passing of the PT .. YAYAYAYAYAYAAYAYA .. CABS all around .. {{{ klink }}}}

OK .. better run .. boss is in a meeting and I better get to work .. have a great one and even better workouts!!

Hey girls. I'm back.

I chose Itread 3/40 mins this morning. I changed it up a bit to make it more in line with my HM training by taking a 1 minute walking break every 6 mins regardless of what Grace was doing. I would maintain any incline but would slow down and when 1 minute was up I'd just kick the speed back up to the appropriate place depending on where I was in the work out. I also kept the speeds a bit slower then usual since I just want to FINISH the HM. I'm not in it for speed.

Laura, WOW, how scarey that someone overheated. I guess you thought she was going to pass out on you? YIKES! One of my biggest fears of becoming a P/T is having someone get hurt or sick, etc while I am training them. I am hoping I feel a slight bit better once I'm CPR certified but I doubt it. I'm just a worry wart by nature.

Okay, BBS! :7

Hey Wendy ..

Yeah we were doing weighted lunges and I had already noticed her stopping several times before on the cardio .. but on the lunges .. she got weak . . she leaned forward .. caught herself on the step .. scared the crap out of me .. she took her time .. walked around and got some water .. after that I had to bring the class down (well that was 45 min into the workout anyway) ..

I have had one girl faint (she was anorexic) .. I have had another get chest pains .. (she was a smoker .. NOW an EX smoker) .. and had many get overheated ..

It is scary .. but hate to say comes w/the territory .. more so in a classroom setting b/c people try to "out-do" the other one .. or someone not so fit may come in thinking they can do what someone that is a regular does .. at least in PT you are one on one .. you can more closely monitor and guide the client on a more personalized fitness regime ... in a class room of 25 - 35 people you don't have that one on one "talk" .. my best bet is to explain modifications . preach taking it at their own level and PRAY they listen to their bodies!!

YOU WILL DO FINE as a PT!!! Go for it girl!!:D

Hi ladies,

My back was hurting this morning so I didn't workoutx( I am going to the gym at lunch and will probably do the elliptical machine. It is Chest & tricep day and I will try to do S&H Chest & Triceps tonight. The rec ctr I go to at lunch will be closed for maintenance next week. I plan on doing the GS series next week. I work legs 2 times per week so one of those workouts will be B&G!

Cathy-I'm all for changing the name to Cabs & Abs, it has a nice ring to it! Did you say leaner legs...thats a burner for sure.

Wendy-Congrats! You are now a certified PT. So what do you have planned now that you're certified? Great job on the treadmill follwing your run/walk plan. I know that's hard especially when your on the TM and want to run the whole time. How can you say you hate sports when you yourself are an athlete! I run at the track when my son is at football practice. I'm looking forward to fall so I can start running again.

Laura-I would probably pass out in one of your classes with the heat and humidity you have. I would love to learn how to scuba dive. DH is also interested but he is very overweight and it is not recommended for him. Obviously it's not enough incentive for him to lose weight.

Angie-I never did RTTC-I'll post what I think after I do it. Hopefully it is not like the slim series. I haven't made any progress in making and freezing dinners for the impending hectic schedule. I'll keep you in mind when I get there though.

Nancy-Hi Nancy, what's on your agenda today?

Diana

Good afternoon girls

I need to get my butt downstairs and do my w/o and I'm not sure what it is.....an IMAX maybe? I hope so! My upper body has DOMS from yesterdays Tony torture.;(
Cody goes to camp on Thurs morning so he's cleaning his room right now and then it will be time to pack as soon as I get all this laundry done from the last trip. Tomorrow will be another hell day so I need to make sure he is ready to go today so I don't have to tackle that tomorrow along with everything else. After he is gone, hopefully everything will slow down a little bit at least until Sunday when he comes back home. The boys could really use some time apart this summer.:7 It'll be nice to NOT hear bickering for 4 full days......bliss! :)

Cathy - Hope you had a good run this morning.;-)
I really appreciate all the great info you and Laura have been giving about this makeup. It all sounds really cool. I don't like to use a lot of make up, so this stuff sounds perfect! I generally don't use eye shadow because it irritates my eye lids and gets "squishy" after a while and almost makes my eye lids peel if that makes sense. I'm typically too cheap to buy the really expensive stuff, especially if I get it and it isn't working for me. It's nice to know that this stuff has a guarantee and/or free samples. I'm gonna have to take some time this weekend and search the web and see what I can come up with. Again - thanks for the info!! ;-)
I'm still stumped on a name.......hmmmmmm......I'll keep rattling it around in my head.

Wendy - It really is fun going to the kids sporting events, but it sure is a relief when the season is over. I love the fact that they are getting good exercise and playing team sports. It's worth all the schedule conflicts and they each only do one sport per season, so it's not all bad. It just seems like a lot when you go from no practices to both having practices/games almost every night of the week.:7
BTW, you DESERVE the kudos girl! We are so proud of you. You'll be a great trainer. Don't fret too much about what happens if someone doesn't handle the stress of training so well. If they have chest pains, call their Dr. or 911 - especially if they have a history of heart problems or have the risk factors. It's always better to be safe than sorry. You'll also get familiar with the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion so you'll be able to spot that early. Really, most of it is education and prevention on the part of your client. You'll know what is safe and since it will be just you and your client, you'll be better able to see the danger signs. It would be much more difficult to do that in a class situation, like Laura said. Let them know that they have to listen to their body in order for you to be able to help them meet their goals. I think you'll do great, especially knowing that you are worried about the safety of your clients.:)

Laura - With those temps, I'll bet you're almost wishing August was over. Hopefully you'll get some relief from the temps in the Keys.;-) Your vacation sounds fabo! Hopefully those folks going with you get their crap straightened out before you go. Otherwise, I think I would leave them in my dust.}( You and DH can have lots of fun all by yourselves!
Thx too for the info on EM. It sounds like we have the same skin type, so I would order the semi-mat as well - hopefully I can look at it more this weekend.

Nancy - Your dinner the other night made my mouth water! I wish we had restaruants like that around here.....or maybe I'm glad that we don't.:D

Diana - So sorry to hear about your back - hope it's nothing too serious. Maybe take some time off and put your feet up.
I gave up last night and went out to dinner - had salmon and broccoli with a nice salad - yummmmy! I'll give in once a week for dinner out, but I still need to come up with a plan for the rest of the week. It's stew and biscuits tonight:) Cody will just have to put his in the micro when he gets home - he doesn't mind.

Off to help DS pack and then off to do IMAX? I'll be back later

Angie
;-)

Diana: Thanks re the cert. I will be getting my cpr cert and putting together my resume over the next couple of weeks. I was going to mail it out to the area gyms but DH suggested posting it online first at hotjob, monsterjobs etc. It's a good idea. If I don't get any bites that way I can always revert back to my original plan as a back up. Sorry about your back. Hope it feels better soon. GS series is a good choice in lieu of the reck center for next week. Enjoy them-great work outs! I am an athlete but not in the same sense. I do not participate in sports like soccer, softball, tennis or any of that. I don't enjoy that kind of stuff.

Angie: Thanks for the pep talk girl. What you say makes great sense but I'm still nervous. LOL I am sure I will learn as I go. Being in a gym environment will help too as I won't be TOTALLY ALONE with my client feeling I am all they have God forbid something happens, you know? Enjoy IMAX or whatever work out you choose!

Cathy,

I think CABS and ABS is a seriously cute name! I'd agree to it if everyone else does!}(

I don't feel like going to the rec center. My back is feeling better but I just don't feel like.

Wendy-you are a cheeta which makes you an athlete! I never cared for team sports myself either. I did gymnastics for 9 years and of course running which are both individual sports. I think you have a great game plan as far as getting your cpr cert and resume posted. I also wanted to mention that my bootcamp instructor is always saying "you know your fitness level and body signs better than anyone, listen to them" She also encourages us to drink plenty of water throughout and after the workout. She does want us to push ourselves, but not hurt ourselves. You will be an excellent trainer!

Angie-Those kids do keep us moms busy. My kids are great by themselves also. You can really see them as they are when they aren't always fighting with each other. Have fun with Imax!

Diana

Wendy :: I had the General Tso’s Chicken – YUM – which is oh-so-good but terrible for you, so I *never* get it anymore. In fact, the only time I really eat Chinese is at P.F. Chang’s. Do you have one of those up by you?…I understand the worry, but I agree with everyone that you’ll be fine, esp. working one-on-one. I’m sure the CPR certification will give you more confidence about the whole situation. Hey, wouldn’t it be nice if BBC Joey were your CPR teacher?

Laura :: OK, you have us beat! Our heat index is only 106. *lol*…Scary about the girl who overheated…glad nothing serious happened…I checked out the Everyday Minerals site, too…Looks good and GREAT that they give free samples…I agree that you don’t need a lot…and I’ve heard now from several sources that the minerals are good for all skin types. Given that I’m just about finished with a course of Accutane, this is particularly critical for me!
Hope the happy couple gets over it in time for your vacation…

Diana :: sorry about the back pain…do you still see a chiro?…You must be in such excellent shape working out at that altitude…I was thinking of Breckenridge today and how winded I was just going up a few condo steps.

Angie :: I’m not a big makeup person, either…but I’m becoming one! *lol* I went back to Ulta today and bought more stuff!! It may be a sickness.

Hi Nancy! Hope you’re OK.

For thread names…I like Laura’s suggestion of Girls of Summer…or even just The Girls since as you pointed out, summer’s ending soon (boo!)… I was kidding with Cabs and Abs, but actually, I like that, too. It seems to fit us. But I’m open to anything.

Hi girls!!!

We had to run into Manhattan today to set up my daughter's dorm room. It was so hot!!!!! I had already decided to drive in and am so thankful that I did. We only brought a few things as we had to pick up the key. The real move will be on friday when DH will be here to do the bulk of the work.

We're still missing our dog......time hasn't made it get easier. We picked up his ashes yesterday and my original plan was to take it to the woods that he loved, but now we're not so sure. We may hold on to them for a while - a LONG while.

Laura - your vacation sounds wonderful. You're going to have to share some of those underwater pics with us. Have a great time!!!!

Wendy - Again, congratulations on passing the PT exam!!!! I don't think I live too, too far. Maybe you can kick my butt back into gear.

Hey Diana - I hope your back is feeling better. My back was a little sore the other day too but it passed, thankfully!!

Yeah Angie - be glad you don't have these restaurants. I split the dinner with one of my DDs so as to make it more acceptable to eat but I know I could have eaten the whole thing and left the restaurant stuffed.

Cathy - I'm all for changing the name of this thread. I don't know if I like my name out there like that (lol) and then I feel bad if I can't check in.

Okay, off to cook dinner and an UB workout. I think I'm going to try a Pure Strength rotation of some kind until these new workouts come out. The workouts seem easier to me and I feel pooped most of the time. Our puppy dying has taken everything out of me, I think.

Have a great night everyone!!!!!!!

Nancy

OMG ,,

<<<<< CABS and ABS is a seriously cute name >>>>

THAT is hillarious ... IA .. seriously cute name .. and hhmmm .. kinda fits us .. LOL!!:+

LL done. Whoo. The only downside to split workouts is needing multiple showers a day.

Nancy :: so sorry you're going through this sad time!!! I'm sure the mourning is contributing to your lack of energy or interest in workouts. But that's OK. You do what you gotta do, IMO, to work through all the emotions. Maybe you could scatter part of his ashes in the woods and keep an urn at home?...On a lighter note, *lol* about your name being "out there" on the thread. :)

Well, should we make it CABs and Abs then? :p

I was just thinking Cathe's next RT should be on a cruise ship. There'd be TONS of room for all of us. Wouldn't that be awesome?

At the risk of sounding stupid, what does CABS stand for? I think I missed something there......

And I'm all for a Cathe Roadtrip on a cruise ship.....just give me the date.

Nancy
