P90 and PX90 ?

My DH is seriously unhealthy and over weight (50 lbs) and has high blood pressure. He thinks that if he jogs on the treadmill he can eat whatever he wants. Hasn't worked out in months and months.

I have tried to get him to do some Cathe workouts (weights) but I think he has this thing about a women teaching him. Whatever!

My question is to all of you out there familier with the Power 90 and PX90 system. Which one is best for him?

Thanks,
Dawn

X is supposed to be the most advanced workout. They even suggest that you take a fitness test before proceeding. I would think that if he is not working out regularly, that he should start with P90 or PHH.

My BF has an aversion to doing my videos too. In fact, although he was much more open to P90X, he still hasn't pressed play!

Good luck!

I haven't tried P90, but I've used P90X, and I've read quite a few posts about P90. Rather than either of these systems (P90X might be too ambitous for your husband at this point), I would suggest he try Power Half Hour. These are 30-minute workouts that are not as intense (or as long) as P90x, but (from what others have written) are more intense than P90. You can see clips of these, I think, at www.beachbody.com . One thing that some people don't like is how "goofy" Tony (the instructor) is. YMMV.

Another option, which might be better, would be Gilad's quick fit system. 3 or 4 (?) weight workouts, and 3 or 4 (?) cardio workouts. Nothing "girly" about the workouts. Both men and women as background exercisers. Kind of a "bootcamp" feel to it. I don't know anyone who is turned off by Gilad's personality (though many women may be "turned on";) ). You can get these through www.collagevideo.com . You can also buy the weight workouts separately.

Do you get FitTV? You can catch some of Gilad's programs in the morning. "Total body sculpt" is the latest, and most like his "quick fit" system, I would imagine.

I think Tony is a bit goofy also. I would love to see clips from P90 and PX 90 but they don't have any that I can find.

Ya know - someone is really missing this niche for men don't you think???

I have done both of these and if he since he is not already working out, I would definitely recommend Power 90. It is what I first started on when I got serious about working out a few years ago. I followed it religiously for the whole 90 days and I got in great shape. I eventually became too advanced for them, but they are a great program to get started with.

I don't know if it's a niche that needs to be filled, or if most men still aren't interested in working out to videos at home. The home workout video industry definitely started as, and is primarily still, a product marketed mainly to women. This was back in the day when you would go to a health club and women would do the aerobics classes, and men would be in the weight room. Maybe marketers are still stuck on the old paradigm of marketing to women, but if things have changed, then there definitely is a market for workouts for men. Beach body has started to fill that niche. Gilad is both-gender friendly, but many workouts aren't so much.
