I am new, I just ordered and received the following DVDs

4 body blast DVDs
Power Hour/MIS
Pure Strentgh
Body Fusion Beginner step

I do not know why but I opened the timesaver first? I only did day #1 and it was hard. I felt so clumsy and uncoordinated. I could not keep up. I do not know why I did not open the basic step first. Now I am debating if I should keep 2 of the DVDs from body blast (step blast/step jump and supersets/push pull) I really need someone's advice. Are these DVDs worth keeping. Should I keep the beginner step, but I need to buy a strapped band, do you know where I could buy one? or can I substiture weights? The 3 I am debating keeping I have not opened, I have only a couple more days to return, any recommendations? Any recommendations how I should start?

Hola, Paola! (couldn't resist!)

Absolutely you should keep all of your DVD's, and hold each of them as goals to work toward both in terms of exertion challenge and coordination. I'll tell you that the first Cathe workout I ever bought was her original Interval Max, which was billed as a high-intensity-basic-choreography workout. Never were there truer words, and when I was first gutting my way through it I looked like I was being electrocuted.

I would suggest continuing to learn the TimeSaver DVD, and be patient with yourself as you learn the choreography. And start with the Body Fusion Beginner Step as well. I would use the bands as the Body Fusion workout is produced rather than trying to substitute dumbbells at this point, unless one of the studio participants in the production demonstrates dumbbells as a substition. Bands are available at many websites, including Fitness Wholesale (www.fwonline); I know are are a ton of others but I can't think of them right now.

As you get more comfortable with the first DVD's that you do (and at the start here I think it's perfectly okay to do them over and over again until you get comfortable with them), then you can slowly segue into the others that you've bought. You body and brain start to learn Cathe's rhythms and methods of cueing, and you'll become more adept at learning new steps.

Keep up the good work!

I am not that coordinated and was very intimidated at first. Now I just expect it to take me about 4-5 tries to get the routine down(sometimes more). If you need to do them a section at a time - it is much more manageable. Be patient and I agree that you should definitely keep them all - they are great workouts.

Stick with it - trust me you will be a Cathe addict before you know it!:)

Hi again, Paola! It took me about three weeks to get the step choreography down on I-Max 1, even though the choreography is very basic. The interval blasts took me about a week longer to get through with no modifications (I-Max 1 is one of the top three most intense workouts on the market; Cathe's produced all the others).

Getting hooked on Cathe's productions? That was instantaneous. My husband thinks he's in a modern menage-a-trois - him, me and Cathe.

Paola...

Don't return the DVDs! You will regret it major if you do! Cathe is so addictive.... I have all those that you have and love, love them all....

I am a fairly new, intermediate Cathe exerciser and I modify alot of her moves...

My advice would be to skip to the Basic Step/Body Fusion dvd now instead of keeping on with Timesaver, if I were you.

Depending on how advanced you are, Basic Step could be a little easy for you but, it gives a great introduction to Cathe's style of cueing and her basic moves... Body Fusion is tiny bit more advanced, introduces a few more Cathe moves and is a circuit workout with weight segments between the step routines... great workout... you can go as heavy or as light as you like on the weights. The upper and lower body add ons on the Basic step dvd can be done with dumbells or bands, a cast member demonstrates both... but, is much, much harder with the bands.

AFter you have done the workouts on that DVD a few times... then start with Timesaver again... and start rotating in the other Body Blast workouts which include circuit, kickboxing (love KPC) and some weight workouts. Then advance to the Power Hour and Pure Strength.

I think you can build up your confidence better that way.

Don't give up... these workouts that you have are great ones to start CAthe with... they really are.

Thank you for everyone's advice. I will definitly take your advice. I feel bad because I originally ordered the hardcore series and canceled because I was so overwhelmed. I can alway orders them later once I am more hooked and experienced

don't return any videos! cuz you will eventually be able to do them!

however.. rather than stating with timesaver/body blast or any of the others.. start with basic step body fusion! they are both so fun (especially body fusion!) and meant for cathe's beginners and intermediates! after doing them a couple weeks.. you'll be more ready to go on to the others and you'll LOVE them!

Hello Paola,

I felt the same way as you did when I first started. In my case, I first did Step Works from Cardio Hits DVD. Whoaaaa, it was too much for me to take all at once: the intensity, the choreography ... I was exhausted in less than ten minutes . Then I did one of her 'easiest' videos, Step Fit and slowly learned her moves.

Now, I can honestly say I've learned most of her usual moves, that when I do one of her workouts the first time, she just has to cue, and I can instantly perform her moves without having to watch her breaking it down. Not only that, my cardio endurance has improved TREMENDOUSLY :D!

Don't give up, Paola! Just take one step at a time (no pun intended). Once you learn her routines, you'll find that you can do her other videos just fine :)
