Out of touch for awhile.....

My kids are going on vacation for spring break with their dad so my bf and I are heading up to his remote cabin WAY UP NORTH on the Wisconsin/Minnesota border. No phone, no cable, no VCR/DVD, and NO COMPUTER!!! I'm bringing one of my dogs with me (the other one wouldn't be able to handle a 5-hour car ride) and a STACK of books. I'm also considering purchasing an inexpensive portable DVD player so I can take Cathe with me. I've worked pretty hard lately and I don't want to lose the momentum of my workouts! I'm not sure how my honey will feel about me dragging a step bench with us (we are already hauling a washing machine up there!!) so thanks to Lunacat's incredible Compendium, I've pulled out the workouts that don't require a step. I'm going to have to do without a computer until Sunday, however, which is really going to stink. I'll really miss all you guys!! ;(

Soon to be going through withdrawals,
Angie

Have a great vacation!
You can keep quite busy for one week w/out a step! Maybe it is a good week to try some yoga or extra stretching and get in a couple of extra long ab workouts? How about bringing an exercise band if you've got one and doing some of the HC band esercises if you are familiar with them?

Enjoy your vacation. Everyone needs one. After this long winter. Time to reconnect and set new goals. Bring back new energy. Ya, vacation is good.

I told her she needed a Band Vacation in my suggestions for a new DVD. LOL.

Angie~We'll miss you too but we will be here when you get back. Have a great time. Here is a workout Cathe posted a long time ago for someone that didn't want to take a lot of eqipment. I used it a couple times while we were on vacation and it is a great workout. Have FUN, enjoy your time away and give us all the details when you get back.

25 minutes a morning is all you need to maintain enough so that when you come back you will not feel out of the loop. Bring one set of moderate pound dumbbells (5 or 8 pounds)Here is a sample two week vacation workout:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

a) Warm Up:
5 minute brisk walk

b) Legs:
Leg Blast:
30 seconds non-weighted squats
30 seconds plyo jacks
30 seconds squats/ with dumbbells in hands
30 seconds front kicks (no dumbells)
30 seconds side kicks (no dumbbells)

Forward lunges (with dumbbells)....3 sets 15 reps (Rt leg 15 / Left leg 15 then do the next set).

Back lunges (with dumbbells).....Same reps/sets as forward lunges.

c) Torso/Arms
Chest: 3 sets of 10 push ups...On last rep of last set hold push up 1/2 way down for 20 seconds.

Back: One arm dumbbell rows (put both weights in one hand) do 3 sets of 15 reps per arm.

Biceps: Concentration curls (put both weights in one arm)do 3 sets of 15 reps.

Triceps: ALTERNATE one set of dips (15 reps) with one set of double arm kickbacks (do as many as you can with that weight and good form). Do three alternating sets.

Shoulders: Seated bent arm side lateral raises (10 reps) right into rear delt flys (as many as you can with that weight and good form). Do three alternating sets.

Abs: traditional crunches for 3 minutes and then flip over and hold a one minute plank

Bon Voyage

That's awesome, Debbie - thank you so much for posting that rotation. It's hard to remember after working out with videos for so long that you can still get a good workout without them!! I also thought about bringing a jump rope and jumping outside. There aren't many neighbors around so I'll only be entertaining the deer and bear with my klutzy jumping moves!

Thanks again!

Thanks, Wendy! My bf and I both have 2 kids and we live 90 minutes apart so we don't see each other as much as we would like! It's going to be great spending so much quality time together.

Holy cow, you have 59 days to go....you must be so excited!!!

Angie

Oh, yes, we understand and no it's not crazy! We go for 3-4 weeks, leaving not only the forums but all that exercise equipment and my DVD's. I've been hauling small increment plates back to Michigan to use on starlock dumbbells fo years, along with my trusty band. It's one thing to do pushups and dips along with Cathe and another to do them at my mom's and harder still at the in laws where we camp out on top of each other if we stay with them. It's plain harder to say motivated to exercise on vacation. Even if we are all working out in different places and times, it almost feels like we're workout partners and that's a tremendous motivater. But vacation is nice too! :) And it sounds like you have a pretty good set up and a plan. It's going to be good for you!
