Other instructors step workouts

Cathlete
Hi to all,

I posted a question the other day regarding step workouts by other instructors since I have all of Cathe's. I got great suggestions and I looked into some of them. Many seem very interesting but there are so many possiblities, I became a bit confused. My biggest concern is intensity: I'm looking for something that's comparable (or harder, ouch!) to Cathe's.

So, I narrowed it down to the ones listed below and I'm consulting you again! I'd like to know if you think they would give me what I'm looking for (at least 35 min. of step, intense cardio, as intense as Imaxes, BM2, Stap blast, Cardio fusion)

- Athletic step jam by Sharon Twombly
- Step sweatfast, High int. step mix 1 by Tracy Staehle
- Int. extreme, Awesome int. by Mindy Myrlea
- Rock Steady step, The next step by Seasun Zeiger
- Step this way by Kristin Kagen
- ASC II by Amy Bento

If you think some are missing, I'd be glad to know of them.

Thanks a lot
Nathalie

I think that instead of purchasing another step workout you should purchase a Bosu and use that with any of Cathe’s step workouts. You won’t believe the intense hard core workout it will become and (you can use any of her step workouts on it) they will become the most challenging workouts you will EVER do. You won’t also believe the other challenging moves and uses for the Bosu.

Check it out!

I love Athletic Step Jam and All Step Challenge 2 and highly recommend them!

From now on, I'm going to be more decisive. Possibly.

Athletic Step Jam is a must in my opinion. It is as intense as any Cathe. I would consider it high heart rate steady state!

ASC2 is my favorite step workout. If you are opposed to somewhat complex choregoraphy and spot on cueing, you may want to pass on this. This is steady state and reminds me more of Cathe's RS but I find it as intense as say Step Blast or Cardio Fusion but there are no blasts.

The original HISM (Tracey Staehle) is the only step workout that has lived up to it's name, in my opnion. I traded for Step Sweatfest and I had to work to get my heart rate up at all. Step Sweatfest is one of those workouts where it's trying to appeal to everyone which makes it way less advanced choreography wise and intensity wise. It is more of an intermediate step workout.

I have a couple of Seasun Zeiger's. I like her style a lot, but I don't think it's going to fit your intensity metor. I could be wrong as I'm still in the learning mode for her step workouts and to be honest, now that I think about it, I may have Straight Up Step (is that a Seasun workout? and not the ones you listed)...so you may want to scratch anything I say on Seasun...LOL! I do love her Bosu Blast workout....fabulous, sweaty, steady state bosu cardio.

I can't speak to the rest, but when you do make your decision and try the workouts out, post your reviews and if they met up to your expections for intensty. I will have to check out this Kristin Kagen.

Thanks for your feedback. I guess I'll be spending good money shortly!!! I'll keep you posted!!!
Kristin Kagen seems relaly interesting but I have no idea where to find Step this way (it's not on the CIA website).

Oh, you did not have Kelly Coffey-Meyer listed but her Cardio Kick Stepboxing 2 workout is tough and fun. It is a mix of kickboxing and step and I absolutely love it!
Angela:)

I would go for Athletic Step Jam and/or ASC2. I've got a couple of Seasun's DVD's but have to confess I haven't tried them yet as the choreo looks a bit complicated (one day!). However, I managed to get ASC2 quite well. Athletic Step Jam is great, you wouldn't regret getting this if you like Cathe.

I did look that workout but the problem is that kickboxing moves hurts my hip (probably some twisting motion I do). Maybe I need to gain strength in my lower body before I try kickboxing moves.

Nathalie:)

Thanks Emma!

Athletic Step jam seems a favorite. I plan on getting it. I don't know about Seasun: her choreography seems to be quite complex. I'm not sure if I would get the intensity I'm looking for.
