OT: "Creed" Rant

I don't expect many here to know who I'm talking about, but I have nowhere else to complain about this so you are the lucky ones!

Anyways, I think I am the only person in the country who is totally ticked off about the whole Creed reunion and tour. Mark Tremonti is like my guitar HERO!!! He is an amazing talent and all he ever got to do in Creed was play mediocre back-up to crappy no-talent Scott Stapp (lead singer). I about did cartwheels then when Mark and other bandmates dropped Scott's sorry butt and formed their own band AlterBridge. They found a singer (Myles Kennedy) whose vocal range made Stapp sound like Elmer Fudd (just listen to Blackbird by AltarBridge if you don't believe me. That man has an amazing set of pipes!). The guitarists including Mark were finally brought to the forefront and the music was made just as important as the lead singer.

Now, Miles is working on a solo album while the group has sold their soul and reunited with Stapp for a new album and tour. They basically said they "had" to do it contractually and that they would be going back to Alter Bridge after the tour. Right... I'm so disappointed. Just heard the new Creed single and although it might sound good for any other group, it's the same old crap for Creed. The guitarists play background accompaniment that ANY guitarist could do while Stapp warbles along sounding half stoned and bored - ok, he's probably not "that" bad, but I'm jaded at the moment. I think Mark got maybe a 10 second solo in the whole song - which was awesome because Mark ROCKS, but sucked that he had to pick along the entire song to finally show a few seconds of talent. UGHHHH!!!!

Ok, I'm done whining.... Did you realize that Metalheads could actually be picky about "principals" too???

My favorite songs from AB:

Amber, I'm not a Creed fan, but I feel your pain and absolutely LOVE that you have that much passion about a band, especially where a lead guitarist is concerned! (So many reasons to love you, girl!) And, I'm sorry about your disappointment; sounds pretty well-founded.

Rock on, baby girl!

TeTe - NOT a Creed fan either!!! ;) I would have loved to have seen Tremonti in concert - Creed was just here a week ago (one of the first stops on their tour), but I boycotted it because I hate Creed so bad. I want AlterBridge to go back on tour! Love ya babe!

Check out my edits...I realized after writing my response that Creed was just a vehicle for your guitar hero!!! :p

p.s. Thanks for responding TeTe and assuring that my little rant wouldn't fall into the "0" Response Chamber of Horrors!!! ;)

Liann, you and TeTe are fabulous! :) I also cannot stand Creed and was disappointed to see a reunion even if it is short lived. I too love Alterbridge and am praying that they stay together. My husband was a lead guitarist and I think his talent outshined much of what the lead singer was doing. Much to my dismay...many of the ladies in the audience agreed. LOL :)

sometimes this is why ppl don't want to be famous b/c they are held by contracts just so the big record company can make a few $$$ on a name. it didn't work out the first time so why are they doing this again. stapp has been up to his old tricks of wanting to be in charge over powering plus all his personal issues(legal mind you) just overshadow what could be a great band. i liked their first album and that has been about it!

alter bridge on the otherhand, whoa baby. bunch of hot, talent guys making great music. yeah SOLD here.

I don't follow Creed or AlterBridge, but you said they're touring with a brand new album? Let's hope it doesn't do well. Then there will be zero incentive for the record company to pour more money into the original band, leaving AlterBridge free to evolve.

I know how you feel. I'm a big music fan and have suffered through some of my favorite bands' line-up changes over the years. I've also witnessed some really fantastic musicians get pushed aside or worse...totally ignored...because they didn't perfectly fit the mold for whatever crap is selling these days.

I like the new Alice in Chains (RIP Layne) Just sayin'

sad day when talent dies in a tragic way. yeah he and scott weiland adorn my locker in high school play their stuff during our wild high school parties. i never did get to see him live and i hate that fact.

i am into all kinds of stuff music wise so if you throw up another band probably heard of them or have an album LOL

i was shocked when i heard creed was coming back together. oh boo hoo, because poor scotty's solo "project" sucked?! i cant STAND him and i cant even begin to fathom how the band agreed to reunite with such an egotistical, self-centered, talentless DB like stapp!! i liked their 1st album and then as i learned more about them, and listened to reiteration after reiteration of THE SAME SONG, i got tired of them. i have to admit, i was reluctant to give AB a chance because of the whole creed thing but im SO glad i did!! they are AWESOME!!!!!! they are what creed will and can never ever be.

new AIC is great! i was surprised i like the new stuff as much as i did because i love love LOVE layne (RIP)...but the new singer has a great voice and jerry cantrell is just amazing talent.

RE: scott weiland...what a train wreck! we saw stp last summer and he was a MESS. it took them over an hour to come out; rumor has it he was too high to get on stage. a lot of people left because the security was telling us the show wasnt happening. but it did and it was bad. the music was awesome but scott failed miserably with the vocals. what a shame. they were such a great band.

note: dont allow guys named scott be the frontman of your band! ;)

LOL melissa yeah there is a pattern.

weiland's problem is drugs and ego and that is a shame b/c he can write and sing(JMO) and the brothers OMG what a talent i haven't heard much from them lately. hope they are well, from the jersey shore so i gotta show respect to my jersey boys.

stapp's issue is OMG he has found god again so he is holier then thou and this is his baby and it has to be this way. get over yourself dude. we already have one crazy nut job who thinks he is a rock god and his name is axl rose and he has been around a lot longer doing the same crap and is at least more entertaining to watch

i haven't heard the new AIC i admit i am intrigued and reluctant at the same time.

Ditto Beavs! I "heart" Alice in Chains!

Oh good Lord! I feel really old now...Down in a Hole is my DH and I's first slow dance song and everything else song. :)

Melissa... :D

A guy from Finland did some videos very similar to this ~ quite funny! One musician got so mad, he demanded that the video featuring him be taken down.
