OT Anyone using Slim Fast?

Faythe

I am trying to rid my last 15 or so lbs.....still. My weighing and mesuring has gotten a bit much for me. I am just tired of it and want something easy for the next few months. I bought a box of slim fast and so far it doesn't make me sick. (I have a sensitive stomach) anyway, I was wondering if anyone else is using it. DH is not thrilled, and I usually wouldn't do this, but feel it's gotta help and make things simple. I still exercise daily (of course). Anyone else using it and having any results, or any bad results from it??
Thanks
Faythe

Hi Faythe -

I used Slim fast before but I didn't like it. The reason be is because it never satisfied me - I always felt hungry. What I use is Spiru-tein. It is made with soy protein and you can find it at any health food store. Many places carry single serving packages so you can try it before buying a big container. It really fills you up and makes a great breakfast.

Good luck!

Kali :)

I read an article somewhere that said a slimfast drink is equivalent to a glass of milk, a multivitamin tablet and a small bar of chocolate! Not trying to put you off though. If diet drinks help with a diet then that's great. I guess you can only try it and see.

I use slimfast as a snack at mid-morning. I don't substitute meals with it because I would starve to death if I did! But their meal replacement bars & shakes are great for a snack. Snce they are only about 200 calories (or there about) you can still have a regular low cal/high protein meal & a snack & not worry about it.

I use EAS brand or Atkins for a snack. They taste a bit better, are more filling, maybe b/c the protein content is higher, not really sure and the sugar content is much lower. I was shocked by how much sugar is in Slim Fast.

thanks for all your imput. i'll check out those other brands. no wonder the taste isn't so bad...sugar.
thanks again,
Faythe

I never tried the Slim Fast "plan", but I used to drink it for breakfast. The only problem was I was starving an hour later! It does taste good and it does have nutrients (although not as good as eating some fruit!).

So I'd drink it for a snack or if you're on the go. It shouldn't substitute a meal like the plan intends (who can get by on a 200-220calorie meal??), but I say it's better than eating a candy bar or chips.

If you did follow the plan, you'd probably be so sick of the stuff in 3 days anyway!

I've used Myoplex Lite, Luna Bars, and Slimfast Bars not as meal substitues as much as emergency rations. You never know when you're going to get caught famished, like when you're too busy at work to stop and eat a decent meal (Sundays at the church for me), so these can be life savers. They keep me from eating too much later, and tide me over for a couple of hours.

I keep three envelopes of mixes (to which you ad water) with me at all times so I never get caught without rations.

Read the label. Slim fast--at least the can I looked at, to try the new "soy" version---is very high in sugar (ingredient #1, I think), which for me makes it a non-food.
