Organic Meats

How many of you eat organic meats? I find that the prices in my area are rather high like 16 dollars for a 3 pack of boneless chicken breasts.

Thanks Latisha

I eat organic meat. I buy organic chicken at Trader Joe's, I think it's about $ 10 for 1.25 lbs (3 to 4 breasts) and meat (lamb, beef) at Whole Foods, if they are on sale.

However, we don't eat much meat anyway, red meat maybe once every week or every two weeks. I prefer seafood.

Do you have a Trader Joe's in your area?

Yeah, it's a trade off for the 115 degrees of heat we enjoy in the summer :)

I buy organic meats as often as I can. Our local co-op carries a decent selection of locally raised, organic meats that are fairly reasonably priced. It's definitely more expensive than the conventionally raised stuff, but not out of range, and definitely not at the prices you're finding, Latisha. $16 for 3 boneless chicken breasts is too high for me.

One thing I do, particularly with poultry, is buy the "bone-in" selections, like a whole roasting chicken or whole bone-in legs/breasts. The price/lb is much less, and cooking with the bone adds more flavor.

I generally don't buy much red meat. DH is an avid deer hunter, so I usually have a good supply of venison on hand - free range and organic!

I almost always buy organic proteins and produce. I buy my meats from Whole Foods. I can taste the difference! :9
