One Rep Max Calculator

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with my Workout Card. It has been working fine until I got to dvd #8 Back and Triceps. It is all wacked out on my 65%. I have tried to go in and put less weight of my 1RM just to get 65% of what I know is my 1RM. However, in some cases, it is giving me more than my 1RM for my 65% workout weight. I have worked on this for a few hours and have run out of time. Is it my program or me?? All the other STS dvd's have worked fine. To give an example my 1RM for Deadlifts Dumbell is 30lbs @ 12 reps. It pops up for me to do 38lbs for that excercise on dvd 8. 65% of 30 is about 22-23lbs. So I don't know if I have fried it's brain because I kept trying to fix it or of their is a hickup in mine. Can you help, please.

Okay, am I being completely stupid? I know this question has been pounded into the ground and I was sure I got it but now am confused??? I thought we input our 1RM and then the first 4 weeks is at 65% of that. So am I not entering my 1RM correctly or is my calculator on disc #8 off. I put my 1RM for Deadlifts at 25lbs@15reps. On my workout card for disc 8 it says my 65% weight should be 27lbs. That is more than my 1RM? That first number that is listed on our card where it says target weight, hasn't that already been calculated at our 65% weight?? I am so confused, has anyone else had this problem. I am very technically challenged but I haven't had a problem with it up until now. Thanks, Mary

Hi Mary -- If you are lifting 25 lbs for 15 reps, your 1RM should be 41 lbs, not 25. (You can lift 25 lbs for 15 reps, not only 1 rep.) So... 65 percent of 41 lbs is 26.65, which shows on the workout card as 27 lbs. I think you're entering your numbers correctly. Hope that helps!

Ohhh.... I kind of understand that. So it takes my info ups it to my 1RM according to the lbs and reps I entered. So when I put my 1RM in, should it be the very (most) I can possibly do until no more or should I back off a few pounds and make it a little easier? Thanks for explaining that.
