One more benefit of a fitness regimine!

This should have been fairly obvious to me, but not surprisingly, it just dawned on me that all of the people I now call friend are all people whom I have met through some form of fitness, be it here with Cathe, or some of the people I've gotten to now through some of my other fitness activities.

If I couldn't get ahold of DW in an emergency, the first two people I'd contact would be Gayle and Ellie from these very forums, I'd trust the two of them with my life, if need be, and wouldn't think twice about it.

I really have no regrets in my life, I do believe things happen for a reason...heck, I even met DW at a sportsbar during my drinking days!!

My battle with depression, heck, even that played a role in my improved lifestyle, I never really took fitness very seriously until I read an article where the term "Exercise is the enemy of depression" jumped out at me in HUGE letters.

Most who know me know I am a geeky addict when it comes to everything Disney, from Disney World to reading everything about Walt himself, and one of his quotes really hits home with me..."I think it's important to have a good, hard, failure in life"...I've had a few of these....and while they all sucked, they helped shape me, and put me where I am today, a place I wouldn't trade for anything.

So, friends through fitness?? I'm sold on that as another benefit!

I totally agree!! Not only do I have friends (like you!) from online fitness groups, but some of my closest friends here I gained from joining a hiking group :) Good for the body, good for the spirit!

OMG! You'd call me first? (ok, maybe second behind Ellie???)!!! I'm flattered. And you KNOW that I'd come running (or driving really really fast) in a heart beat, dude!!!

And you're right. When it comes to friends...there are friends and then there are FRIENDS!

YOU ROCK, Jerry!

Gayle

p.s. I thought it was cute that my DS went to the men's room to get you, because I thought you had left without me saying goodbye to you and giving you your much-deserved hug! :)

Gayle...

It was funny, I kept telling your son not to follow me in...damned if he didn't!!! I didn't believe him when he said you wanted to see me, but he can follow me anytime, when a hug from you is the response!!

There's something about 'fitness people' -> determined, focused, positive, with a strong desire to live, be happy, energized...focused on being-the best-you-can-be lives...

THAT's what I loved about this site when I found it, and why I stop in here often...I've found it to be an answer to my desire to have more of those (above description for 'fitness people') type of people in around me.

I find the idea of making more decisions about every day, in as many moments as possible, (as in making the fitness commitment, day-by-day) creates empowered, alive, invigorated people.

Love that.

Don't know you Jerry, but when I read your posts I always feel love in my heart for you here.

Many Blessings!
