**ONE DAY AT A TIME** Nov 14-20

So I was perhaps a bit ambitious - did the upper body express from Total Body Trisets (the 20 minute one), loaded up on weight a bit so it was a good challenge, then walked around the block. I love the cold sunny weather, but it was icy, and footing wasn't great...so my left leg was shot just by going around the block. But I got a walk, fresh air, and some weights done and it isn't even lunchtime, so I'm happy :)

I got in housecleaning, shopping, and a 28 minute T-Tapp workout. Then the MS symptoms increased to where I needed help standing. Sigh. It's like starting over again every time I get a setback. I keep plugging away at it. The workouts is gentle yet tough, so I figured it would be a good start back. I will keep plugging away at it. Mentally I wanted to do Cathe's beginner Step Workout, but physically it was a different story.

Hi Rosepetals - so sorry to hear your symptoms flared. At least you got in a workout of some kind, and I personally find errands and chores more fatiguing than just concentrating on a single workout, so take heart. I've just been reading about T-Tapp at another fitness blog I frequent, and she gave it good solid reviews for efficacy and the fact that it is something that all levels of fitness can benefit from.

I know what you mean with feeling fine, getting stuff done, and then being hit with symptoms. I was super gung-ho yesterday, and managed the weights, but two minutes into my walk I started noticing more problems with my legs, and by the time I got home from around the block, my left leg wasn't working great at all. So my enthusiasm far exceeded my actual physical ability, which is a bit of a slap in the face, since most people are dealing with just finding the motivation to workout!

I think the one good thing about being dealt challenges like an injury or a chronic illness like MS is that you begin to really appreciate your body when it IS working right, and my motivation to workout isn't based on weight loss or other aesthetic reasons now - it's to be healthy and most of all just to feel the joy of movement. My cousin's partner has MS and she and I chatted a lot recently about having to constantly re-evaluate your expectations of your life, and learning to adapt. When symptoms flare or you have a full blown relapse, it's scary and frustrating, but you will get through it. You might not be the same as you were before, but you adapt and focus on doing the best you can with the new situation.

Gah - I sound like a greeting card! The long and short of it is, keep trying, and know that every time you do workout, regardless of what that is in comparison to what you could do before, it is a triumph over your illness.

Hi all,
Due to pain & swelling no workout yesterday!:(
Today barely managed STS Disc 4 & STS Extended Stretch due to pain & swelling again.:):(

I'm so sorry to hear Jennifer & rosepetals that you're having flare-ups:(
Do either of you find that the weather conditions contribute to your flare-ups?
Hang in there & still be proud of what you accomplish every single day whether it's a walk or housework or errands:D I also find errands more tiring for some reason!!:(

Jennifer: You keep right on "talking" or sounding like a "greeting card"!!:D:D

Hi all,
Jennifer: How did your performance go?
I haven't tried to work out this weekend, although I was able to clean the house yesterday. That alone takes a lot out of me, so I consider it a good workout... I refer to it as CleanMax. LOL
I'm sorry that you gals are flaring. I do have to wonder, since we're all flaring, if it's not the change in the seasons? I know that weather affects me. (We call them flares in fibromyalgia, too.) I work with someone who has fibro, too, & we definitely notice that we tend to be flaring at the same time... Coincidence? I think not.
Cathy, I'm sorry that you had such pain & swelling. Be proud that you were able to get your work out in today. STS is not for sissies!
Stay strong, ladies - this too shall pass!
Hugs to all!

OK, I did work out today after all. I did Slide 'n Glide. It felt SO good! ;)
Now, if I just don't pay for it tomorrow, it's all good! :p:D
Hugs to all!

My symptoms increased a couple of weeks ago when I came down with a UTI, then a cold during the same period, and I had dental work done. My system couldn't handle everything. I have been drinking lots of cranberry juice, but it still feels like my system is fighting something. The weather can affect things for me. Heck, it seems any little thing upsets MS.

You can't let it stop you though or you will never get a workout in. I do lighter workouts spread out over the day so I can get some form of exercise in. I had worked up to being strong enough to do cathe my system got messed up again.

Yesterday was rebounding and t-tapp. Today is rebounding, a walk, and t-tapp. I will gradually increase my workouts as I can.

On the positive side, since working out I have rebuild the muscles so I can now tiptoe for short periods of time. When I am having a good day my pace is faster and I can walk farther. Today I could only walk a mile with difficulty. I will improve though.
