? on my new Cathe videos

I have never worked out to Cathe. I am expecting Power Hour, Slow & Heavy and Pure Strength series in the mail in any day. I have all the Firms except Tortoise, Hare and Basics. Could somebody please help me implement my new Cathe videos into my rotation. I am willing to give up working out to Firm videos and only use Cathe's. What are your suggestions? What video or series would you start first. I have 5-10 lbs to lose.
Thank you in advance for the help.
Beth

Hi Beth,

Assuming you are like most of us, and will want to "try out" your videos asap, you could start with a rotation of both PS series and PowerHour, that way you'd be hitting each body part 2x/week. I don't know what you do for cardio, so you'd have to incorporate it wherever convenient for you, but you could do something like;

4-8 weeks:

day 1: cardio + PS-Chest/Shoulders/Triceps
day 2: PS-Strong Legs & Abs
day 3: cardio
day 4: PS-Back/Biceps/Abs
day 5: cardio
day 6: PowerHour
day 7: REST

* I don't know how much or what type of cardio you like to do, but you could plug the cardio in wherever it suits you.

That would allow you to both work each body part 2x/week, and utilize 2 of your new workouts. You could then do a 3-4 week rotation of S&H after 4-8 weeks of PS and PowerHour. I don't know how long a rotation you like to do, I usually do 6 weeks, then switch weight workouts, but many here do much longer rotations of 8-12 weeks before changing. It's really up to you and what your body needs and responds to. Through keeping a workout log, I've learned that once I hit 6 weeks, my body stops responding to that particular workout and I have to change up in order to continue to lose pounds/inches. But rotations are an individual thing, you can do whatever as long as you're getting positive results from it, and once the results stop, you know it's time for a change. :)
Hope I helped,
Donna

I started using Cathe with my Firms, and then gradually phased the Firm videos out. This is how I did it, and I saw results right away:
Sat: a Firm Cardio (Cardio Burn, Fat Blaster, Max Cardio, etc) - cardio portion only (not the light weight work at the end) followed by PS C/S/T
Sun: a Firm Cardio (similar to Sat.) followed by PS B/B/A
Mon: PS L/A
Tues: Cardio only (Super Cardio or Cardio Step Mix would be good or any of Cathe's step tapes once you order more!)
Wed: Power Hour
Thur: Cardio only (similar to Tues.)
Fri: REST
I did it this way, because I wanted lots of cardio to lose fat, but that's just me. I mainly used my newer firms because I found that the older firms used heavier weights and I didn't want to overtrain my muscles. I would do the PS tapes for 6-8 weeks before incoroporating S & H. This will also give you ample time to see what definition you have and how your body is responding to your rotation. Have fun!

I used to workout w/the Firm & my sister got me hooked on Cathe!! I tryed the other day to alternate my workouts w/the Firm & just didn't feel like I got a good workout like I do w/Cathe!!! Plus she get you so much more motivated!!! You are going to love her!!!

Hi Stacy

I totally agree with you on Cathe vs the Firm. I used to do the Firm workouts and although some are pretty good (mostly the original few from back in the 80's)for the most part I never feel like the Firm is hard enough. Cathe on the over hand is so challenging and motivational with her workouts. I've been very happy with all of tapes and DVD's ever since I discovered her back in 1998. Besides exercising with the Firm ladies is like working out with the Stepford Wives!!:)

I also started with the firm, Kathy Smith and Gin Miller. I moved to Cathe exclusivly. There is nothing quite like her for thoroughness, cueing, choreography and fun.

It is curious that you found this old post from '02 and you are a new member. Are you and old friend of the forum with a new name? If so welcome back!

The above reply should have been addressed to Stacy. I am sorry about that. It just seemed curious to me that a post from '02 was brought up after being dormant for so long.
