? on kick max vs. kpc

I have kpc and have been looking a kick max. Do I need both? I went on collage video to read reviews on kick max and it seemed to get mostly good ones, but some said kpc was much better. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It's hard to describe, but the energy KPC is way more fun, IMHO. Kick Max has the workout, the blast, and then the standing leg drills which I'm sure help but I don't do very often. There aren't any abs or anything.

What is it that you like about KPC? If you mention some of what you're hoping to get more of, maybe we can be a better help to you.

Hi Amy G,
I like kpc for a good cardio and cond. other than step everyday. I guess I just looking for variety. I just didn't know if kpc and kick max were alot alike or completely different in what they offer.

Thanks

I'd say Kick Max is worth a shot, then. Some people don't like it, in part because it's a high impact workout. The blast is pretty crazy. At the end of the drills, I'm pooped and don't want to jump around during the blast! But there is a premix that does the blast first, so I use that one.

It's odd to me that of all the hardcores, the only ones that show up regularly on ebay are Kick Max and Stretch Max.

Have you done a search on Kick Max? I know there have been other discussions of it. HTH,

I have KPC, KM and Cardio Kicks. I like KPC the best, but I often mix all three. My absolute favorite work out is KPC the warm up and drills, KM Blasts and Cardio Kicks drills. It's a calorie burner for sure!

I don't use KM very often by itself because as one of the previous posters mentions, it's KM then the blasts, then leg conditioning. If I want leg conditioning, I'll do Legs and Glutes. But I do like Cardio Kicks and the KM blasts.

I like all three 'cause they are different. CK is more like a choreographed class, if you're looking for something sort of like floor aerobics. I like the other two more for add-ons.
Just Do It! :)

Hi There,

I have to say, I wouldn't recommend Kickmax. I absolutely love KPC, and do it all the time, but I cannot remember the last time I did Kickmax. It just doesn't get my heart rate up, except for the Intensity Blast segment, and there's so many other Cathe tapes (like the IMAXs and BootCamp) that have intensity blasts that would accomplish the same thing. If you really want the Intensity blasts of Kickmax, I really would recommend buying HARDCORE EXTREME instead. You get the best parts of Kickmax (the Intensity Blasts and the Leg Sculpting Drills) combined with other workouts to really get a great, intense workout. It costs more, but IMHO it is really worth it.

Good luck!

Melissa

Like Melissa, I don't recommend KM.
I LOVE KPC because of the kickbox feel and the intensity.
KM has a mixture of "not intense enough" pivoty kickbox moves, "jumpy" cheerleader moves, and leg conditioning drills.
I tried it once (but admittedly, didn't do the leg drills) and Ebayed it. Not my cup of tea (a big disappointment, as I was hoping for a follow-up to KPC that felt as authentic..and Cathe's form in KM is impeccable!)

I like both of them and I think they are different so you won't feel like you're doing the same video. KickMax is worth it for the leg drills alone. I had been regularly working out my legs with Pyramid Lower Body, Legs & Glutes and Leaner Legs. When I did Kickmax, I had serious DOMS in my legs that I hadn't experience in months! I guess it works my legs out in a different way with the leg drills.

I don't think you can go wrong by purchasing it if you're looking for some variety.

Hi Christine,

I just finished doing Lowmax, and I have to tell you, if you don't have this workout, I think this would be a much better purchase for your money than Kickmax. I, too, love KPC and kickboxing in general, and Lowmax is such an incredible burner for the legs! I really don't consider it a step tape b/c it has such a different feel to it--the blasts are great for the legs, sort of like kickboxing, and the last of the seven "intervals" is very much like kickboxing in style. So, if you don't want to spend the extra money on Hardcore Extreme, I think you won't be disappointed with Lowmax.

Good luck!

Melissa

I love KPC, and was so looking forward to Kick Max. But I'm afraid KM was a big disappointment for me.

KM starts with combos that are structured similarly to the combos on the last half of KPC. But there are no jump kicks. Instead, to keep the heartrate up, Cathe puts loads of jumping jacks in between the combos. Plus I was unable to do the pivots on my carpet.

Next comes the Blast. Very repetitive, high-impact moves that last for a minute, then go on to the next repetitive, high-impact move. Think airborne jacks, zig-zag jumps, tuck jumps....

Lastly, come the leg-conditioning drills. Really kind of boring, sorry to say.

KM also does not have the driving music that KPC has, and the volume was very low. (I didn't have sound problems on any of my Hardcores, but noticed the vocal/music ratio was "off" on KM).

Have you tried viewing the clip on this site? That would give you a better idea.

I'm with the others. KPC is a fantastic work out. I was also disapointed with KM - it's a lot of blasts and not kickboxing and not great on the knees.

Low Max is my favorite of the new series.

Let us know what you decide.

I agree with some of the other replies. I love kpc and decided to get kickmax, but I have been disappointed with it, too. It is a good workout, but I just can't get excited about it like kpc. With kpc, I find myself smiling at the combinations because they're so much fun, and I love the music on kpc. The music on km is nondescript. I would recommend Low Max for variety. It is so much
fun and a great workout!:)

Thanks for all your help. I have decided against getting kickmax. It's the kickboxing I'm looking for, so if there's not much of it in km, I don't see much point in getting it. I do have lowmax, but I don't do it much, don't know why. I did preorder the new ones and can't wait to get those. Thanks again for all your responses.
