Okay...WHY IS IT.....

...That EVERY SINGLE TIME someone comes to my house, it looks like a C-4 charge has gone off in it????? WHYYYYYYYYYYY? When it is even reMOTELY clean, NO ONE BOTHERS TO DARKEN THE DOOR!

About a month ago, we were having problems with our cable DVR machine. The guy shows up when I'm at lunch so when I get home - originally thinking I'd have an hour or so to clean up (like I could do much in THAT amount of time! HA!) - he met me at the door! I was so humiliated. And of COURSE I faced the music allllllll alone! Darling husband didn't have to be mortified - only me.

Well, GUESS WHAT? There was a service call my husband put in a while back to trade this box for a high definition box, only, as I posted before - our big screen bit the dust a couple weeks ago after TWO short years of life so we no longer NEED high def box. But I am clueless about most of this crap and had no idea why he was really here (actually, I understood why he was here, I think I was just distracted by how dirty my house was!) so I have to take the poor soul to the bowels of this mess (the basement) - which was probably like going to the slums of some third world country for him (no offense to third world country slums) - only to find that I could have cut him off at the front door!

@)(*&%(! I told my husband we were cleaning this house thoroughly from TOP TO BOTTOM this weekend before we do ANYTHING ELSE or I'm dragging everything out in the back yard and starting a fire......

arrgghghghghghghghghgghghghhhhhhh!

I think this is why I'm a total neurotic neat freak. You just never know. I have been known to stay up till 1 am scrubing the kitchen top to bottom with a tooth brush. If someone finds dust in my house I freak out and have to clean it. If you ever watched Friends the TV show I am a lot like Monica. :(

I understand!

I feel like a total failure as a housekeeper, even though I hate clutter, crave order, and feel like I clean constantly! I just don't know how people keep their houses tidy...

Although I have to say that certain members of my family (those with the XY chromosomes) are incredibly untidy and sloppy! When I lived alone, my apartment was always perfect! I kept everything exactly the way I wanted it, and (unless the cat made a mess) never had to clean up after anybody else.

My best friend of 25 years and I had a pact: We never apologized for the condition of our houses or our cars, or the behavior of our men. Worked for us!

I live alone and my house is always a train wreck. I try but the place is huge and old and there's really no storage... it's overwhelming sometimes.

I'm a terrible housekeeper too. My mom is even worse so I didn't grow up with a good role model and I don't think DH has ever put anything away in his life. At least I know to have a place for certain important things like warranties, software and all the various wires/charges that come with modern day life. But if he's in charge forget about it. I almost had to go out and buy a new digital camera after he used it once and got mad a me when I asked him where he put the cable. And on top of everything we run an online bookselling business out of the house so at times like now when we come across a large lot of books we get buried by them.

My house is ultimately acceptable and pretty clean (by my standards), but I feel like there are piles of "stuff" everywhere! I understand about feeling like your home is not clean enough for guests.

I have finally come to terms with my family's messiness and tendency to collect (2 pack rats live with me!!). I feel that people come to visit me at my home and see me (and the family), and not my house, so I just accept the fact that my house is not perfect! I just try to enjoy the company of my guests! :D

I can so relate. There are actually times when my house is neat, but I wonder if anyone would believe that! Truly, I get comments like "your house is so neat" because it usually isn´t! I wish I could say that I didn´t have a good role model, alas, I did, I simply didn´t learn:eek:.

Peartstrand, I love your philosophy!

And seriously, although I do like and appreciate a neat house, I would rather be doing other things, so I just figure it will get clean (and it does) and I need my sleep and sanity more than a neat house!

anyway, off to vacuum and clean the floors...for starters!

You know - I can sometimes handle the mess when certain people come over, but these two visitors were cable repair guys! People that don't know me or my husband at all. Mortifying! We're slaving away cleaning though - feel like I haven't made a dent in it though....

Oh I know how you feel!!! I clean and clean and clean and my house is still a disaster. I am completely gutting my office today so at least THAT will be organized.

My mom was a neat-nic so I had a good role model. She has that neat gene (and passed it to my sister) and I just don't. I can get things clean and tidy - I just can't seem to keep them that way. GRRR....

I am not a domestic diva! If I was I would never get my workouts done :D!! LOL I like things organzied and clutter free, but what like and reality are two different things. I did put on my devil horns this weekend and made the kids clean their rooms. Around that TOM I feel like the Taz. The only times my house was cleaned was when I was pregant....the nesting syndrome.

Oh my, our house is almost always a disaster. Our dog has decided he likes to pee in the corner of the living room, and no matter what I do, the house always stinks :( It is soo embarassing, that I stopped inviting people over.
