Okay, this is just insane

I was just driving to the store to pick up soy milk, minding my own business when out of the corner of my eye, what did I see?

SOMEONE HAS THEIR CHRISTMAS TREE UP... decorated, lit, the whole nine yards!!! It's not even Hallowe'en yet, for crying out loud. What kind of insanity is that?

**if** it was up to my 6 yr old, we would have the whole house decorated now!!! jcpenney was all decked out earlier this week!

Our basement got flooded last month so we had to take all of our Chritmas stuff our of there. It didn't seem to make sense to put it all back so I'm going to put up my Chrismas tree this weekend. Is that a good enough excuse? lol :) My hubby thinks I'm nuts but then again this is not news to him.

We have a house in our neighborhood that is decorated for Christmas to the tee! You could land an airplane if you wanted too!

Those little trick or treaters are going to be so confused;(

My best friend puts her tree up every year about this time--usually right after halloween. I told her I won't stop by her house until after Thanksgiving because I don't even want to look at a tree yet--lol! Even her kids are embarrassed by it.

It's kind of sad to me the way people, and businesses, give short shrift to Thanksgiving, which is my personal favorite holiday.

Thanksgiving is my favorite too! Unpretentious, relaxed, it's all about food and getting together with family. I suppose they'll destroy that one eventually too...

err...ummm.....maybe they are Nightmare before Christmas fans???!!! Was the tree black?:7

Now I must confess, I try to have my tree up for Thanksgiving.

What about when people leave their Christmas decorations up until February!!! I guess I can understand if you're just too busy and haven't had time to get to it, but to actually turn the lights on the tree and the candles in the window after Valentines Day is just weird to me.

I remember a few years ago, I was taking my friend's 6-year-old for the day (it was about this time of year), and I pointed out a house with their Christmas tree up already. I looked at her, made the "L" sign on my forehead and said "Loser!" She one-upped by putting both her hands in the same formation, only one was slanted to look like a "V" and she said , "Varsity loser!" I just cracked up!

T'aint the season PEOPLE!!!!!

I have a client who puts her tree up, has the presents bought, wrapped and placed under it on November 1st (at least it's after Hallowe'en:+) What's that; like 7 weeks before Christmas. She's a sweet woman but definitely an over planner, for heaven's sake the presents would be dusty come Christmas morning. I'm lucky if I get my tree up by Dec. 20! I like the anticipation to build to a fevered pitch, kinda like waiting for your new Cathe DVDs.:D

I'm with Laurie....I am lucky if I get my tree up by the 20th of December! Heck, last year, I didn't even put it up! DH was out of town for Christmas and who was I going to put it up for, the cats???

The actual word "Halloween" is a combination of All Hallow's Eve, so that's the way it's actually supposed to be spelled, but you know, us impatients U.S.ers!

Michele, I love it! I remember decorations with the sweepy, taily things like those, the birds look so pretty and pearly. The tree looks like it could be a mite tippy, is it glued to the table? :7

My Mom had an old world Santa made from her Mother's mink stole a few years ago. It's gorgeous, a real work of art. I keep telling her it's too sentimental to keep in a closet 11 months of the year.

Amy thanks for splainin' to Michele why Shelley and I spelled it 'funny' or should I say CORRECTLY!!:* :7

Oh boy, Laurie, I would love to see the Santa made from your grandmother's mink stole!! If you think about it post a picture. I think we should all post a picture of our favorite decorations. :)

My tree is a little top heavy. The picture really doesn't do it justice--it's much prettier up close and personal.

Amy, thanks for the splainin':7

Michele...I think your tree would look much prettier with donuts all over it...stead of birds!! I'm sure August would agree.

A different take...

I have a friend who's daughter isn't going to live until Christmas. They had Christmas this past weekend. Their tree is up.

You never know why people do the things they do.
