Hi Everyone

Well I decide that instead of the gym I'm going to make a commitment to Cathe:eek:)

So my question is to Cathe and Cathe Fans please:

I'm 34 years old. I weigh about 125 but would like to see myself between 115-120. I need more then anything to loose body fat. I want to see some inches gone: thighs, stomach area. After two kids need some help here...lol. Also I want to have my arms look better in a tank top a more difined look and need help with the back fat by the bra...yuk. I feel like I look kinda frumbe (is that even a word lol) I want people to think wow she is a mom of two and looks great:eek:)))))

So with your help I know I can do this.

Can you tell me what DVD's you recomment that I start with. I would say my fitness level is intermediate...but as far as step....not so great.

I would like to work out maybe 3-4 days a week.

What rotation what you suggest to help me with my goals. Is there a check in on this group I can join?

Any advice from anyone would truly help.

Thank you so much everyone:eek:)

Tammy

I have just started working out myself. I am a mother of two as well. I have started with the GYm Style mostly because I don't have the coordination for the step workouts. I have been doing cardio every other day on an elipse for an hour at at a pace of 2.5 mph with a 50% incline. In the last 8 weeks I have gone from 122 to 117lbs! Good Luck!

Wow that is great:eek:)

What I really need is someone to say ok buy these dvds and do this rotaion...I'm so bad a figuring out what to do when......

Good luck to you to:eek:)

Ideas for videos

I use Cathe's Gym Style Series, and I have definately seen results!! Plus, I absolutely love thes videos! :D I only have Cathe's weight videos, though, so I really can't recommend one of her cardio options. I've heard good things about her step videos though - they're supposed to be really fun & easy to follow. I would say you should try to get in 4 to 5 days with cardio and 2 to 3 days with weight lifting to lose weight. That's what I usually do, and I always see results. And don't forget to stretch really well! Good luck!!!

Here is what I have:

High Step circut (have ot done this yet)
Kick Punch and crunch with legs and glutes
Basic step and body fusion

should I buy gym series or 4ds?

Cathe do you have any new beg/int rotations out there with your newer dvd's?

Hi tammy,

http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236223

This is the link to Cathe's beginner rotation. You could sub with what you have. High Step Circuit in place of Body Fusion, L&G in place of lower body work and KPC in place of any of the cardio (basic step or Low Impact Step). Maybe work it as a month rotation instead of 3 months. I would also recommend Low Impact Step if you are trying to familiarize yourself with Cathe's step choreography.

Once you do that, 4DS might be a good next step, however, the step is pretty intricate.

Gym Styles are great and would fit in nicely with working out 3-4 days a week, you could do a good cardio on your 4th day. However, you don't want to use that as your only weight work. It is good to mix it up a bit. I would recommend the Pyramids as another option, esp since you are looking at 3-4 days per week. You can alternate those with cardio.

There is also the intermediate rotation: http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236484

This does use quite a few different DVD's, though so you would have to sub a bit.

Also, take a peek at this roatation, this may be more up your alley since you are not a "true beginner" http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236312
I wish I would have found that rotation when starting with Cathe. Again, it uses a lot of DVD's but you could always sub what works best for you and fits into your budget.

I hope that helps a bit! Also, I would invite you to join us on the August '08 check in. We typically follow Cathe's current rotation, but anyone is welcome to join. Just look for today's date!

Best of luck to you!

Hi Tammy,

My intro to Cathe was Total Body Sculpting/Low Impact Step. It is geared toward beginners (Cathe and crew use 3 lb weights, but you use what is a good weight for you) but can be broken into Upper body and lower body workouts of 20 min each (handy for busy moms) and the stability ball abs is one of my favorite ab workouts. Low Impact Step is lots of fun and not very complex.

If you're aim is more intermediate I would recommend Muscle Max and Low Max. Muscle Max is a fun total body workout under an hour. I really liked Low Max too, not real complex but a good steady cardio workout. These are less money too so that always helps!!

For a starting rotation I would suggest 2-3 days of total body or circuit workouts and then one day of KPC/Step. Try that for 4-6 weeks and then change it to something else. With HSC and KPC there are lots of premixes to experiment with.

Both 4DS and Gymstyles are split routines (split the body parts worked over 3 or 4 days) and I find that with split routines if life gets in the way and I miss a day it's hard to decide what to do...skip that body part that week or double up? Oftentimes I fall off the exercise wagon- yikes!

Just my 2 cents! Hope this helps!

Everyone's given you good suggestions and congratulations for making the committment to exercise. If weight loss is one of your goals, I'd like to add that you might want to consider using Cathe's nutrition software (or there are several free ones you could try). Using a food log similar to Cathe's helped me lose weight when exercise alone just wasn't working.
